Counseling children

Rate this book
This book brings together ideas from research and practice and presents practical, up-to-date methods for helping children with specific developmental, social or behavioural problems. Nine counselling theories and the techniques used in counselling sessions with children are included, along with a biographical sketch of the theorists, a philosophical statement of the nature of people, a discussion of the theory and techniques used in practice, a case history demonstrating application of the method and techniques, and final summation of current and classic research and reactions to the theory. Transcripts of actual counselling sessions illustrate how counselling methods are used. Suggestions for counselling exceptional children, or children who are experiencing social problems resulting from such events as divorce, death and abuse, are also included. This book should be of interest to degree and diploma students taking courses in counselling in departments of psychology and social work.
