The Fulfillment Series #3
The Fulfillment
Layla’s world tumbles out of control when she discovers the truth of her parentage and realizes the Prophecy—the one she upended her entire life to defend—is incomplete. When her new friends share the entire Prophecy, the revelations contained within it alter her destiny and challenge everything she and Wil believe in. Now, she must confront the Outlander queen to save the Ethereal kingdom while grappling with this new reality.
Tortured and imprisoned, Nash accepts his fate and offers the First Ones the one thing he has left to give: his life. In a desperate attempt to save the people he loves most, he surrenders himself to the Outlander queen and a destiny darker than he could have ever dreamed possible.
Wil, tormented by the consequences of his choices, realizes he may never be able to uphold his end of the Prophecy. His mistake casts a deep, foreboding shadow over his kingdom and those he loves, while its ripples threaten to shatter both the Prophecy and everything he and his family have sworn to protect.
In this epic conclusion, lives are lost, kingdoms clash, friendships are tested, and love and fate collide.

Note: I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This book marks the end of an awesome trilogy, that I believe, every fantasy reader must read. As much as I hate that this series has ended, I am quite relieved because it ended in a really good way.
Though I liked it, I couldn't help but wonder if this one was a little rushed. It surely felt like it. It didn't disappoint me in the least if anything it just felt really fast-paced (unlike the first two books that were medium paced.)
The overall tying-the-loose-ends thing worked out well and every question was answered before the book ended on a happy note. I liked how the author gave a beautiful shape to the love triangle that was looming on top of everything, and, I never say this for love triangles, but this one made complete sense.
There's just so much to say that I don't know how to write everything in this review, all I'm going to say is- it is a series well written and a plot well executed.
I'll look forward to reading more books by author Erin Rhew.

I had the privilege of receiving an ARC of The Fulfillment. This book begins, literally, where The Outlanders left off. Might I say that The Outlanders left us with a cliffhanger that made me try and rip apart the back cover, searching for the next page? Alas, none were to be found. :-( Fortunately, we pick up with Layla, Wil, Nash, Samson, Mia, Vespa, and Grant right were Ms. Rhew left us. (Did I mention that we were left hanging? Not that I'm bitter or anything.) From page one, The Fulfillment presses on the accelerator and doesn't let up. We find out answers to our long-awaited questions (it's been a year, people!), but also opens up a slew of new ones.
Scattered all over the three kingdoms, our heroes are thrust into impossible-to-win situations. They continue to battle a rogue Outlander queen, an usurper king hell-bent on destroying a peaceful nation, Elder Werrick and his secret accomplice, all while struggling to solve the mystery of an ancient prophecy.
Where to start? Where to start?
I totally dig villains so we'll begin with the queen. Just when we thought she couldn't get any worse—do you remember what she did to Nash in The Outlanders? Well, it turns out she managed to outdo herself. Amazingly she gets even more sinister, even more vile, as she destroys people in her lust for power. While in captivity, Nash discovers her secrets—and her weakness. He's willing to do the unthinkable to exploit this weakness in an attempt to take her down. But his plan to sacrifice himself is beyond risky and has far-reaching consequences that he couldn't have foreseen even if the First Ones had blessed him with the ability to time travel.
Elder Werrick is back and as bad as ever, but now we discover that he has a secret accomplice. What the what? Yep, he's teamed up with a baddy you won't have predicted. It seems like everytime our peeps catch a break, Werrick is there to throw sand in their potato salad and march ants through their picnic.
Vance. This kid seriously needs to get grounded from his Wii. He's decided that his purpose in life is to blot the Ethereal people from the map. Like Werrick, he too has an unlikely ally, but he's also got the power of the Vanguard army behind him. Every time he showed up, I wished someone would put a sword through him the way he did through Wil in The Prophecy.
And, of course, Mia. She showed up at the end of The Prophecy claiming to be the true Fulfillment. What, exactly, is this chick up to? Well, we finally find out her real story. But there is a TON more to Mia that meets the eye. Is she a hero, a villain, or just a pawn to the real game master's plan?
So my peeps are dealing with all of this, which you'd think would be enough to keep anyone preoccupied, but there's more. Layla and Nash, Layla and Wil, Wil and Mia, Mia and Samson, plus a host of family connections you don't see coming. Oh, and a new family member... like, a VERY new member!
Ms. Rhew intricately weaves all of this together in a beautifully told tale of love, loss, heartache, and victory. Kingdoms and peace are in the balance as battles are waged and an ancient prophecy comes to fruition!

Note: I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I've been trying to write this review for a week now and I'm still at a loss. Mostly because I can't move past the fact that it's over. How is this series over?? I reject it. I'm not ready.
Ok. *deep breath* I'll start by saying this: This. Book. Was. Torture. The Fulfillment picks up, quite literally, right where book 2 (The Outlanders) left off. I loved the seamless transition into the storyline - I also felt this made for a very intriguing beginning. We finally get answers to some of the questions that have plagued us throughout the series, but beware: not everything gets wrapped up nice and neat with a bow. It's hard to talk about the plot at all without giving something away because it was just so chock-full of twists and revelations.
All your favorite (and not-so-favorite) characters are back and better - and badder - than ever. In this book we get to see just how much the main characters have grown, but we also get a glimpse of the wear that such a weighty responsibility has wrought on them emotionally. Everything has built up to this and now Layla, Wil, and Nash go head to head against the evil Outlander queen. But you'll find that even she is not who she seems, and suddenly you're down the rabbit hole again - twisting and spinning and trying to figure out which way is up before you hit the bottom.
And hit the bottom you will. Hard. This book will take you through a full spectrum of emotions (including the five stages of grief). I laughed (a little), cried (a lot), and wanted to pull my hair out so many times. I kept thinking I had it figured out, that I knew where things were going, but time and time again I was thrown off course. An evil (EVIL, I tell you) queen, a usurper king, a religious zealot, some interesting family connections, a few crazy love parallelograms, and a mysterious prophecy that no one is quite sure how to interpret are just the tip of the iceberg. There are SO many factors at play it will make your head spin, but somehow the story never becomes bogged down or convoluted. Now if that's not fantastic writing, I don't know what is.
I highly recommend The Fulfillment trilogy to, well, anyone who enjoys reading because it's just that good. Book 2 was my favorite of all of them - I honestly don't know that I've ever read a "middle" book that was as strong as it is. In a world where sequels (especially sophomore novels) seem doomed to fall flat, The Outlanders is a shining star. This series will not disappoint.
I can't recall now how I found Erin Rhew but after reading the first book in this series, I knew I'd stumbled upon something exceptional. She has since become one of my favorite authors and I can't wait to see (and, of course, read) what else she writes.

Wow, what a fantastic ending to this fast-paced trilogy! Rhew has nicely tied up any loose ends from the previous books AND some new ones created in this installment, that will leave the reader completely satisfied at the conclusion. "The Fulfillment" created some MAJOR loose ends that desperately needed resolving and Rhew delivers.
As we left off from “The Outlanders”, Layla and her ragtag team find out the prophecy they have known their whole lives, the prophecy they have all committed to seeing it through to fruition is incomplete. Cue book ending music! Thankfully after that cliffhanging ending, this book “The Fulfillment” picks up right where “The Outlanders” left off. Note to Rhew- thank you for not dragging this out! From the point of discovering the full prophecy, the story takes off at an unstoppable pace with all of the characters scrambling to figure out this new prophecy and how or if they even fit in.
Layla's character is tested and stretched to a breaking point (and tested and stretched some more) as she unravels her role as a leader, her friendships both new and old, her family ties, her own heart's desires and her commitment to the prophecy. Layla makes some unbelievable sacrifices all in the name of peace, truth and integrity. Just when Layla thinks she has a handle on the situation, something spins out of control like her own heartache, the truth of her family and the ever increasing duties as the Fulfillment.
Wil receives some gut-wrenching news that shatters all his hopes and dreams. Just when you think it can't get any worse for our favorite king, sadly it does. Wil needs to decide to follow his heart or his duty as King of Etherea all while realizing he may not even fit into the First One's prophecy as he has previously believed.
Nash, still imprisoned by the Outlander Queen, has had his fair share of heartbreak in “The Outlanders”. In this installment Nash has to get beyond his pain and sacrifice even more for the promise of peace and the safety of Etherea. Thankfully Nash finds a few unlikely allies who will help him along his destined path.
As the story moves on we see battles (yes, more than one), blossoming love, incredible loss, strong commitments, promises, and ultimate sacrifices (tears will be shed). Will Layla and her friends fulfill this prophecy? Are all the people who play roles in the prophecy ready and willing? Will the Outlander Queen thwart the peace prophecy? Is the prophecy even true and possible? Will we ever find out the Outlander's power? Will all of our villains (the Outlander Queen, the evil Elder Werrick and the usurper King Vance) get what's coming to them? All of your questions will be answered in this beautifully written tale!

Well, this stellar novel was a complete novel in itself as well as the conclusion to a fabulous trilogy. We first met Layla as she is taken to become the prophesized 'Fulfillment' of the ancient founders prophecy.
We follow Layla through loves, imagined and real. We follow Layla through hand to hand fighting for justice. We follow Layla's suffering from her trusted and loved one's betrayal. We follow her as Layla comes into her own. We stand by Layla as she enters her 'Fulfillment.'
We put the book down sighing with relief, contentment, and knowing we just read a fabulous journey in Fantasy/Adventure. Lastly, I know there is more in this author to come. Wonderful creative writing and story plots.

This is a great book that delivers a story in a well planned out and flowing way. The characters are well developed and you are emotionally tied to their progress. I did find that there were a few spelling and grammatical errors which was the reason for the star off but overall this is a really worth while read and hopefully the sign of good things to come from a talented author.

Unfortunately it ended the only way it possibly seemed it could which was disappointing as it left little satisfaction. In pretty much every other way it was a pleasant conclusion.

Wow, I really did not like this book. I hated Mia and the storyline with her. I am glad she was out of the picture at the end and Layla and Wil could finally be together. I did like the ending. Most likely will not read this book ever again.

I enjoyed this series. There was a lot to wrap up at the end of the series and the action really ramps up towards the end of the book. Fun resolution to the series.
