I was born and raised in the South and even hung my motorcycle helmet in Colorado for a few months. I've always had a touch of wanderlust and have never feared just packing up and going on new adventures, whether in real life or via the pages of a great book.
When I was a little girl, I didn't want to grow up to be a writer—I wanted to raise unicorns and be a superhero. When those gigs fell through, I chose the next best thing: creating my own magical lands filled with adventure, magic, humor, and romance.
I live in Florida with my two dogs and when I'm not writing or reading, I'm racing motorcycles with my taller, more handsome half, hanging out at the beach, or binge-watching anything magical on Netflix.
I'm eternally grateful for all the people who help make my life what is today - friends, readers, family. No woman is an island.

The scene in the beauty place towards the end gave me the best laugh in a while. I wish I could go and have my hair daone at Coralee's just once, but Brittany is just such a long way from Keyhole Lake!
If you like witchy tales and real fun stories this is a must read. While I absolutely like the whole series this one - so far? - is my favourite. So funny and the end just kept me smiling and laughing.
. I enjoy the humor, the shenanigans, and the quirky characters in this series. Ghosts are an intricate part of the community and help out with daily decisions and murder investigations. This mystery returned to the compelling quality I enjoyed in the first two books of the series.
I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series to get to know the lovable characters better and to discover what happens with this eclectic group. The depth of atrocious deceit and ruthlessness of the former sheriff makes me appreciate my peaceful and tranquil lifestyle very much indeed.
This is a clean read that is able to stand on its own. However, it most definitely makes more sense if you read the entire series in the order they were written.
This book concludes with an H.E.A., but the next book in the series is sure to include another murder mystery that needs to be solved.
As much as I love this series because it has become as comfort series for me, the solving of the crime hasnt been there for me. Where In the past Noelle and gang are usually all up in the business solving the crime, they aren't solving them as hands on as much.
Granted they are involved, because whoever is involved seems to find her and involve her because they feel as if it's her fault that things have happened the way they have. She seems to always be the center of trouble even when she has nothing to do with it.
But I can't say I didn't love this book. This was another winner winner chicken 🐔 dinner in my book. Once again I loved getting to see more of how much Noelle and her family grows within their witchy powers. It always amazes me how they change and grow! I can't wait to see the next changes in the upcoming books!
Keyhole Lake is in full swing with the annual fishing tournament kicking off. No doubt the attraction for tourist is going to have business booming.
All is well until , it is not. After a pre-fishing trip pulls up more then your standard bass, Sheriff Hunter has a case in his hands. Things go sideways when the life of Noelle Flynn is threatened and the whole town/ family is on high alert. It helps to have some ghostly assistance, a team of witches and a whole town of people who love you when its obvious that the Flynn family has some serious haters.
You could sure use one of Reanne's special brews to cozy up and get immersed in Keyhole Lake.
I'm reading this series back to back. I can't stop reading so I know I'm going to be disappointed when I read them all and don't have anymore. I can never figure out who the bad guys are....love it. Norman freaks me out a little bit. Some things aren't explained so I don't know if that's intentional for the future or I'm just not putting it all together.
Out for a romantic night of fishing on the lake, all Noelle and Hunter want to do is catch some fish...but they can't even catch a break when a nearby fisherman hauls up the body of a young girl. Plenty of mystery in this story as no one seems to know who she is.
OK, I'm running out of accolades for this series! Every time I read a new book in the series, I am so glad that I took a chance on this author, purchasing her first book - otherwise I would have missed out on some totally enjoyable reads! Every book makes you feel like you just dropped in for a visit with old friends and family who always have your back. The books are well-written, sassy, funny - how can a talking donkey with a fondness for scotch not be funny? If you like a light, entertaining read full of family, friends, fun and mystery, then this is the series for you - purchase and enjoy!
Note: I did receive an ARC of this book from the author, but that did not influence my review nor was my review expected in return for the book. It is a total pleasure to share my thoughts and hope that others discover this enjoyable series!
“Hook, Line, and Murder” earns 4/5 Hooked Mysteries…Magically Fun!
I love a little magic with my cozy…no juvenile hocus-pocus here. Tegan Maher does it with a clever mystery, some quirky characters, and a bit of romance. We have an annual fishing tournament coming up, and Noelle, the delightful witch, and Hunter, the very human detective, head out for some night fishing. Challenge? Of course, competition adds some spice, and the biggest catch will win. Noelle didn't expect her hook to grab garbage, but another night fishing duo hooked something more dire…a dead body. The body’s ID is for someone else, the database turns up nothing, and finding the ‘who is she’ takes precedent to ‘how did she end up here.’ With only a bit of the investigation started, Noelle’s safety is threatened. Ooooh, now it's getting exciting! But the twists, turns, and “Oh, my!” clever ending makes this a fun read.
Tegan Maher has penned a very entertaining series with some witches, some living-impaired, and some humans, some knowing and some not. Fans will be thrilled, and newbies wanting to start with this sixth book need not shy away. Enough background, without spoilers, and character connections are revisited to make it easy to join in, however, the references do whet your appetite to go back to the beginning with “Sweet Murder” to find out how everyone got here from there. The book is a satisfying length…not too short, not too long, allowing for the murder mystery to unfold rather than explode, as well as joining in on life and following the various residents in Keyhole Lake. Tegan’s descriptions make for an entertaining narrative, but she does not rely on just that. She includes some marvelous banter between characters and dialogue that helps lay out the clues in the mystery. Hey…check this out!
"Disclosure: I received an ARC. My review is voluntary with honest insights and comments."
I had some issues with this book which made me not enjoy it as much as previous books in this series.
1 - There were some continuity issues. In book 5, Hunter makes a comment that he no longer needs to be invited over to eat because he's already assuming he will be there every night. He even sleeps over almost every night. In this book, he's barely there. I was starting to think that their relationship had taken a step back.
2 - In the same section of the book... Hunter calls and Noelle puts him on speaker phone. Then not even a couple of sentences later, he asks her to put him on speaker phone. She "presses the button". Um...he was already on speaker phone!
3 - A piece of cloth was found on a boat by a couple who were clearly red herrings. The cloth had the blood of the murdered girl on it. Then it was completely forgotten! The couple who did it and the boat it was done on was completely different. How come the piece of cloth was never addressed?!?!?
I also found this book to be darker than the previous ones. I didn't like the violence in this book. It didn't feel as "cozy". I'm also getting really annoyed that all these things keep happening to Noelle. She's supposed to be a super witch and yet people keep getting a jump on her so she has to be rescued? Really? What's the point in her being a "super powerful witch" if she can't even protect herself?
3-star rating because I still love these characters. There were some cute elements in this story, Norm! The whole side thing with Matt and What's-Her-Face is annoying. They aren't a good fit and I'd like less time spent on them. I wish there had been more humor and lightness in this book. The hair dye and warts was funny, though.
A good read but I must admit that the humour was thin on the ground with this one. Okay there was a mystery running through this (the body of a young woman was fished out of the depths of the lake) but it really focused more on the people that make up the community and their interaction with each other. I missed the sarcastic, acerbic remarks from Max. He was very quiet in this read but the side line about Norm is cute. Fishing was supposed to be relaxing but when a fellow fisherman lands a body from the depths it takes on a different vibe. Who is she? There attempts to find out about her are met with a threat to kill her and Hunter enlists the others to babysit her when she has to go anywhere. Then a ghost is found by the shore of the lake. A mature woman who has no recollection of her name or how she passed. Now the group is looking at two cases. Can they clear both up? Is the threat to her safety a real one? Why is Norm, the rat, acting peculiarly? What are the men and Max up too, with their secrets? Will the woman that's causing havoc around town get her comeuppance?
Tegan Maher always delivers an excellent book. This one was engaging and hit many of the right notes. I couldn't put it down.
With paranormal cozy mysteries I always look at the paranormal aspect, the mystery and humor. The author does a fantastic job pulling in the paranormal parts in ways that captivate me. I was kept guessing on this book on trying to figure out who did it so my mystery love was well satisfied. As for humor, she sprinkles that around perfectly.
With any book I also look at character development, world building and overall storyline. I wanted to see more character development in this book. However, it did not detract me from my enjoyment but did cause me to decrease my rating by half a star. The characters are still engaging though. Her world building is extremely detailed and feels incredibly real which I love seeing in a paranormal book. The overall storyline flows really well and feeds my mystery addiction.
4.5 Stars for suspense with sprinkles of humor! Definitely recommend!
Noelle and Hunter go out on the lake for some night fishing. When they're ready to change spots they hear someone else getting excited about catching something so they head that way. Unfortunately, it's not a big fish. It's a dead body! There's the start to their newest murder mystery. This is a great book with more than the usual hijinx and extra subplots. There are many laughs along with the great southern dialect in Hook, Line and Murder. I always enjoy the way their many friends come together over the good, bad and the ugly. There are several awesome sweet moments in here too. If you're a fan of witchy cozies, you're gonna love this. I know I did!
Everything is going great for Noelle and all those close to her but there's always trouble just around the corner. This ti mmm e it comes in the form of a young girl whose body is pulled from the lake the day before a fishing tournament starts. Before Hunter can begin to try solving how she ended up in the lake he must first solve the mystery of who she is. Love the family feel to these books and how everyone cares about and also helps each other. The ghosts are another great touch and are as much a part of the community as the living. Can't wait for the next instalment.
It's almost the end of Spring in Keyhole Lake. The semi-annual fishing tournament is nearly due but murder reads its head once again. A young girl literally gets fished out of the lake. ID is fake so the struggle to identify the victim begins. As the crew deal with two unpleasant women in town an amnesiac ghost has the living impaired community scrambling to help her. Was she murdered too? Noelle & gang race to find answers while Matt & Mad are keeping secrets themselves. And what's wrong with Norman the rat? Never a dull.moment in this charming Georgia gown. The series keeps getting better & better.
Hook, Line, and Murder: Witches of Keyhole Lake Book 6 (Witches of Keyhole Lake Southern Mysteries)
I liked the story of Noelle raising her younger sister witch and dealing with a miniature donkey who likes his scotch. he's a wizard cursed in a donkey's body. Together with her friends and boyfriend hunter, they solve several problems, a murder and a a ghost with amnesia. the competitiveness between sisters, is endearing. I recommend the book and the series. On wards to the next novel in the series
I found this book to be totally delightful with some of the best characters I've come across in a long time. I really have to start at book 1 just to keep all the characters straight in my mind. I love the bits of witchery thrown in and all in all the plot was very good. I gave it 4 stars only because of all the typos and jumbled sentences. I don't believe that was all intended. I will read all the books in the series because they are truly a lot of fun.
Being from the South myself, I appreciate a writer who can capture all of our quirkiness. I also appreciate the dialogue. The cadence is heard clearly in my head and makes me homesick. I have known my share of women like Coralee and her battalion of gossip watchdogs. Whether you are Southern or not, goodwill thoroughly enjoy the author. Ms. Maher writes a neat mystery that is both gripping and amusing. Just a good read all around
The rest of the books in this series are great, but I was disappointed in this one due to the amount of horrific grammatical errors (he instead of the, and instead of an, through instead of threw...) There was also a weird random half sentence at the end of one chapter that just didn't belong there and the author's blurb at the end thanked us for visiting the wrong town. It was weird, like it was rushed or someone else wrote it.
Always entertaining. Which he southern cozy mystery series
A fun and entertaining southern which he cozy mystery series. A great cast of characters from a small Southern town in Georgia that hosts a lot of witches and plenty of mystery. Follow along as our characters always seem to find trouble and I always find and entertaining path to find out who is responsible. Quirky at times a bit sarcastic yet always fun and well worth the read
Love this series. This one doesn’t have the personal murder attachment the the others did. They had no clue who this victim was when found. It was interesting following the clues with the characters. It’s a sweet little read, nothing to graphic, and it can be read as a standalone, but best enjoyed by reading the series in border. Falling in love with these zany characters.
Noelle Flynn is a kitchen witch. She is also a trouble magnet, she ends up involved in solving murders. Since her boyfriend, Hunter, is also the sheriff, it makes sense. Now if Noelle can just figure out how to be involved without being attacked or kidnapped, everybody, living and living-impaired, would be much happier! Great plot and characters make this a witchy must read!
Fishing tournament is happening this weekend, Hunter and Noelle take an evening to go night fishing. After the big storm there are new places to fish and they're taking a look at some of them. They hear some other fishermen who have caught something, they think it must be rubbish from the bottom and go to help them retrieve it. Do I really need to say more? It's not rubbish. Good story as always, terrific characters and MAGIC!
The local color is all sorts of fun. The characters are quite endearing.
I dropped off a star because the plot continuity (as other reviewers have noted) was really sloppy in a number of places. The other reviewers pointed those out well.
The book was fun, but it seemed sort of thrown together in haste. I enjoy the series and will continue reading it.
When Noelle and her bf goes fishing to get away from everyone, they notice a group of people catching something big where they only caught trash, but when it finally came up it wasn't trash or a fish it was a body. Soon after, they bring that body in a ghost that doesn't remember anything, including her name, which is trying to figure out what happened and why only they can see her in certain times.
I enjoy these books. Good plots and characters...the characters are real characters! I am a native of Southwestern Georgia, so dialect is no problem. My only recommendation is more proofreading. Sometimes the errors just seem to be due to a lack of sufficient editing. Sorry, used to teach English.
This series has been a blast to read. I highly recommend it if you like light airy mystery with a body thrown in. No gratuitous sex or gory details, just fun to read. The characters are a hoot: ghosties, witches and mere mortals living and solving crimes together.
Noe, Rae, Shelby and everyone else are so much fun to read and hang out with! I am absolutely loving reading the Witches of Keyhole Lake Series. Not only are the characters a blast in all their Southern Glory but the mystery is a nail bitter right until the end. In every book I think I have it figured out, I never do!
Hook, Line and Murder was another non-stop read!! A young woman found dead, floating in the lake, sets off a bunch of trouble, that finds our sweet Noelle being assaulted. Will Noelle or her sweetie, Sheriff Hunter find the killer?? Guess you'll have to read this book, to find out...lol
I hope the people who read this book have already read the previous books in this series. It isn't necessary, but it makes the books even better if you read them in order. I love t characters and the storylines. The world building is first rate, and the relationships are complex and believable. I HIGHLY recommend this book and this series.
These are the best sort of Cozy mysteries. They're funny, the cast of characters is made up of nice, and not so nice people, and even being dead does not keep folks from tearin up the countryside. Start with the first one (Sweet Murder), or just go back to it as soon as you can. You won't regret it!.
