Yuu is now living with his new big sister-an inhuman being he encountered in his uncle's basement! It's the middle of summer, and the two of them are enjoying their days, playing in the garden, splitting watermelons, and taking naps together. Life as a family is simple yet pleasant for these unlikely siblings. Little by little, their bond seems to grow stronger, but Yuu has got an uneasy feeling he just can't shake...
This volume ended on a very sweet note despite the revelation of the characters’ anxieties. I also became aware that this series could technically be considered various flashbacks due to the narration bubbles/texts, most likely done by Yuu-kun. With that in mind as lovely as some of these moments are, it makes the reality that Chiyo is going to have to leave Yuu-kun all the more heartbreaking.
I can't believe this was better than the first one! Yuu and Chiyo's relationship is so sweet to me and I adore seeing them together. Chiyo overreacting to Yuu getting bitten by a mosquito is hilarious, but her dismay over failing to cook properly is so adorable. The mangaka does a fantastic job creating joyous, cute, and creepy artwork depending on the situation. I'm interested in learning more about Chiyo and the other contracts she had formed. I want to learn more about Yuu's family as well and am curious what volume three has to offer. Hopefully I get some answers, but I'll be content with seeing Chiyo try to acclimate to human life. I didn't realize I'd adore this series as much as I do when I started reading, but I really do enjoy it.
Story 4,0/5 Charaktere 5+/5 Zeichenstil 4,6/5 Gesamt 4,6/5
This continues to be far better than the "teenage boy finds himself living with a sexy demon" setup would have you believe. And while there still is some fanservice, it's less frequent than you might expect, and Pochi usually at least tries to have it make sense in the context of the story (e.g. Chiyo read that mosquito bites itch because of the saliva they inject. So clearly, she needs to suck the saliva out of Yuu's bites, so he won't itch anymore.) But the real focus continues to be on the very (ironically) human relationship forming between Yuu and Chiyo. It's by turns touching, dark, and comedic--and the note it ends on is downright heartwarming.
However, there's still a certain foreboding atmosphere that's always just on the periphery, and its subtlety is really well done. Despite how happy both characters are becoming, we, the readers, know that this can't last. Chiyo isn't human. Eventually, Yuu's uncle will get out of the hospital. There's going to be a reckoning at some point, and the closer Yuu and Chiyo get, the more painful (and potentially ugly) it's going to be. But that knowledge is really drawing me in and making me care about their happiness, fleeting though it may be. We'll see how long Pochi can keep this up, but for now, I'm solidly on board.
Good story. Sister & brother get along well. Will it continue?
I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop. The brother keeps vaguely alluding to something ominous coming eventually. So far the story has been nice. I wonder what's going to happen. Art, very well done. Dialogue, very very good. Characters, believable, likeable, & relatable.
More like a 3.5 stars to be honest. I really appreciate the fact that Chiyo is really working hard to be there for Yuu. But I still think with certain matters, she is a bit over the top. Especially when it comes to really simple matters. Like getting bit by a mosquito for example.
Much like the first volume its mature yet cute and wholesome in a way. Its a really nice read and in this volume the main characters bond starts to strengthen.
It's nice to see a demon try to fill the void in this boys life by being his big sister but it just feels like there is something missing, the art is absolutely gorgeous though.
Like the 1st volume this book is not meant for younger readers (it is rated M for Mature or basically Rated R if it were a movie for parents that care if their kids watch that kind of thing.)
When Yuu makes a wish to an elder god for a big sister his life has been changed from miserable to something out of this world as his new "sister" learns more about being human and about emotions as they grow even closer to one another. What is a boy to do when your big sister can do things no ordinary human can do? Although not straight hentai (though the mangaka does do doujinshi for those looking for Shotocon) there are moments of affection showing things are not purely on a sibling scale with limited tentacle action and some magical healing saliva.
My favorite part would probably be when the thought of a mosquito drinking Yuu's blood incites his sister to consider wiping them all out of existence and he has to calm her down. :)
