This book is pretty much what you'd expect. It's a basic set of hack-work that kinda consolidates all the interviews of Fleetwood Mac members for the past 25 years or so into one book while stringing it along in a story.
However, Fleetwood Mac's story is so interesting that the pedestrian treatment here still kind of gives a glimpse into a sort of fascinating existence. Never did a band have such a rotten run of luck as Fleetwood Mac did in the early 70's---never has a band been more of a non-functioning family unit--never before has a group of people who so thoroughly hate each other be able to create such wonderful work. Still, I couldn't recommend this book to anyone.

Not sure how to rate this because honestly I did enjoy reading it. I'm a huge Fleetwood Mac kick after achieving my lifelong dream of seeing them in concert recently so I'm sure that helped. I knew most of what I read and even spotted a few errors but I'm a diehard fan and its not my first Mac book. But now if you like music bios and don't know as much about the Mac then I think it's pretty good. You might really enjoy it. Granted if you are in a post-Mac concert high, you should know the book ends at the time of the 1997/98 reunion and The Dance album and the way it ends sort of predicting what to come wasn't the best since it makes the book end on a very dated note.
I will also say I hated the title. Rumours Exposed? And the cover photo is a good one but the trashy font chosen... Just no. I'm not even sure why this title was chosen. It sounds like a tabloid though the book doesn't dish any real dirt at all. None. And I know of some truly scandalous but true Mac facts that could've made it in there. Also, the book isn't really focused on the time period of the Rumours album nor is it even specifically or only focused on the so called Rumours era Mac line up of Mick, John, Christine, Lindsey and Stevie. It's more a general overview from a brief discussion of band members childhoods and origins to the formation of Fleetwood Mac in Blue revival England and goes through all the different members who have been in and out of the band and the albums released.
And no, the author most likely has never even met the band. It's, as the other reviewer said,a mash up of quotes and facts from interviews told in story form. It reads quick and well. I learned a couple of interesting tidbits too. And I just enjoyed a good dose of my favorite band of all time.
With all that said I collect all things Fleetwood Mac and actually just read a library copy of this book. I'd probably not buy this book, at least not for more than a few dollars but then again I would loan/ recommend it to music loving friends especially if they enjoy Fleetwood Mac. There really isn't a truly good biography of the band and so far only Mick Fleetwood has written a memoir so take it for what it is. You won't do much better.
