Arriving in the small town of Excelsior Falls, former NYPD undercover cop Julie Excelsior, who has inherited a house on twenty acres from her Uncle Wes, a notorious practical joker, discovers that he has left behind a surprise that has the town in an uproar, leading her into the arms of a sexy sheriff. Original.
After swearing off romance novels for the rest of the year, I inadvertently picked this one from the library and found that I enjoyed it. It has a bit of mystery to it and doesn't come at you hardcore with the sex and avoids the typical perfect ending by leaving it open ended.
This was a mess. I didn’t like the characters or the plot, nor the writing style engage my attention. I got about 15% in, and speed/skim read the rest. Utterly boring.
Felt painfully dated, and the reasons why they didn't just talk to each other too contrived. Kept reading to find out the treasure hunt, but wasn't really worth it.
Julie Excelsior moves back to the small town of Excelsior Falls when her uncle, Wes passes on and she inherits his estate. Along with the inheritance comes the town's disapproval, a bunch of chickens and her long lost love, Cas. Not to mention the Romeo and Juliet aspect of the story which casts a Capulet v. Montague type feud right smack in the middle with part of the town divided. Will Julie stay and give her first love a last chance at love? Will she find the inheritance?
It wasn't a page turner. It was interesting enough. I don't know if it was that I wasn't in the mood for it or if it really wasn't that great. It was okay enough and I liked it but it didn't change my life or add anything to it.
This is a fun mix of a light mystery with steamy scenes. The two main characters Julie and Cas have great chemistry. You become invested in the town and the chickens!
It kept my attention I have to say. So for that kiddos but the storyline was weak at times and the arguments they have, oh vey! Could be better but didn't expect much. Beach read.
