Seperti biasanya, saya salah pilih buku historical romance. Awalnya sih ceritanya sptnya unik krn heroine nya "menyelamatkan" hero nya dari jebakan seorang gadis yg culas. Tapi begitu baca bbrp bab dan diselipkan ayat Alkitab, langsung saja otak saya "nyuuuuttt" alias kram otak.

Novel ini terlalu over glorifikasi karakter utamanya, baik hero apalagi heroinenya. Brandon digadang-gadang sbg hero bajingan tapi saya gak melihat sisi mana bajingannya kecuali sering mencuri ciuman kpd Grace. Lebih parah lagi dgn semua tindakan Grace yg menurut saya sangat impulsif dan cenderung bodoh krn sangat berbahaya. Belum lagi di endingnya keluar galaunya. Hadeeehh....

Plot jg membosankan. Semakin diglorifikasi si Grace, aku semakin gak demen dgn gadis pemimpi ini, yg kesengsem dgn patung besi berzirah yg diberi nama Max. Konyolnya semua tokoh² pendamping lainnya mendukung Grace (kecuali tokoh² antagonist nya tentu saja).

Saya msh memberikan 3 ⭐ bukaaaannn krn saya suka. Kasihan aja sama penulisnya pdhl saya pengen cekek kedua tokoh utamanya. Semoga next time saya gak kejeblos baca buku love inspired yg tidak menginspirasi ini.

This was a fun and absorbing Regency tale. I especially loved the characters' interactions and the descriptions of the dresses, as well as the whole orphanage angle.

Facts of the time period were well researched, though I did spot some anachronistic phrases—and one in particular, "You look smashing" (1900s New York slang) did make me chuckle aloud.

Recommended for Regency lovers or those who want a pleasant afternoon's diversion...

I'm in a Regency tailspin! Toe-curling satisfaction guaranteed. Lord Weston is the quintessential Regency hero. His rakish past and sarcastic humour can't hide the real gentleman that lies within. I was intrigued after the first meet but when I reached page 139 I became completely smitten. Be. Still. My. Heart.

Grace has no intention of falling in love. She's given up on believing there's a living, breathing knight in shining armor in her future. Oh my goodness, but she is so wrong. But, beware, there is treachery afoot that complicates a smooth path towards a happily ever after and that makes for a thrilling read.

In addition, Moore has included a moving inspirational thread that flows easily throughout the story. Nothing stilted or forced. Just pure truth and the hope of grace. Beautiful tie-in to the heroine's name.

This stunning Regency romance makes for an exhilarating read.

I thoroughly enjoyed “Accidental Fiancée”! I was totally unprepared to laugh and giggle my way through the first half of the book. Grace and Brandon were a hoot!

It has been some time since I have read any historical romance novels, but this one certainly made me want to read more of Mary’s books! From the beginning I really liked Grace and have to confess that I liked Brandon too. They were so different in the way they thought, but blended well together as their betrothal continued and other events mixed in.

Due to their differences, this story was a fast read for me (if I could have stayed up all night to read it, I would have!). The budding romance as well as the hint of danger had me cheering for Brandon in a way that surprised me. The Gospel message of God’s grace felt very real and made me thoughtful as I read. I liked how everything wasn’t cleaned up perfectly in the end concerning some character’s spiritual walk, but encouraged a new beginning as grace does for us.

This was a very pleasant read and one I highly recommend to historical readers. It is one that will stay with me for quite some time as well as one I would pick up again for a good, enjoyable romance. Five out of five stars for sure!

Nice read! As soon as I read the book description I couldn't wait to read Accidental Fiancee!!! I hadn't gotten the opportunity to read any of Mary Moore's books before this, and I was excited to finally do so. Immediately she drew me in to a story filled with characters I loved quickly! The humor, the intelligence, and the overall situation makes for a highly entertaining read! The pace is set nicely with only a few short lulls and the suspenseful scenes blended in pick it right back up! Mary's style of writing is wonderful, and the twists she adds to the story keep your attention! There were a couple of times when Grace made some frustrating decisions, but that just added to the story. She fastly became a favorite character with her good heart, bravery, strength, and humor! There were times I couldn't put the book down because I, like Brandon, didn't know what she was going to do next! :D All of these characters were wonderful, including Brandon's sisters and Grace's aunt; so much so that I wouldn't have minded more scenes with all of them. Or even more books going back and telling their stories {especially Maggie's ;) }! There were a few things that I wish had been a little different. One mainly being a Salvation scene with Brandon. I do like the part where it explains that he now believes in God and His love and grace; I just really wanted a scene where it happened and he proclaimed Jesus as his Savior! Overall this is a lovely tale with love, Faith, misunderstandings, secrets, dangers, bravery, humor, and more! The more I read from Mary the more I like her, be it the actually book or her letter to the reader!

Songs: "Amazing Grace" by Susan Boyle, and because Amazing Grace has a big part in this book I couldn't resist adding a second version (one of my favorites!!!) "Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)" by Chris Tomlin
Songs etc. May be changed and/or added in the future. ~ASC

Ephesians 2:8, Psalm 37:4, Hebrews 11:6~ASC

*I requested and received a review copy from Mary. This is no way affected my opinion of Accidental Fiancee and the above are my true thoughts and feelings. ~ASC

I loved this Christian historical romance by Mary Moore! I loved the dialogue between Lady Grace Endicott and Lord Weston. She is caught in a compromising situation, but she will do everything she has to in order to ensure nothing hurts her sister Lydia's introduction to society. To protect Grace's reputation, Lord Weston announces she is his betrothed. Sounds simple. Pretend to be betrothed and then break it off. But what happens when one of them is a Christian and isn't comfortable lying?

Can a known rake come to accept God's grace? Can he turn his back on how he's lived his life and be the husband for Grace? He is determined to protect Grace's virtue, but the only way he can do that is to say she is his betrothed. Lord Weston is ready to put the plan into action, but Grace cannot lie about her situation. Grace has to follow along so her actions won't hurt her sister Lydia's chances of finding a suitable husband. Grace's sarcastic responses keep Lord Weston on his toes. She assumes she is too old for love but won't marry for convenience. Can they keep London society from guessing the truth? Or, will they discover they have more in common than they first thought?

God's grace is freely given and covers our sins. Can Grace show Lord Weston that means even him? "We have been given the gift of grace from God." Accidental Fiancee is a great book with snappy dialogue, intriguing characters, and a plot that pulls you in. Lady Grace is an independent young woman set on living her life as a Christian. As she and Lord Weston get to know each other, will she find the rake is past all hope, or is there still a chance for him?

Pick up this great book today and get lost in a wonderful love story!

Accidental Fiancee***** by Mary Moore

1817, en route to London....after a situation which could bring shame on both Grace and Lydia—what choice does Lady Grace Endicott have but to agree to a betrothal to the rake—Lord Weston, Brandon Roth in order to save her sister Lydia's introduction to society. But at what cost to her own reputation? Can Brandon convince Grace that his wicked ways are far behind him and possibly their betrothal could be real?

I loved the interaction between Grace and Brandon—Grace certainly is not like any other young ladies who swoon at his feet and he finds her intriguing. Being a Christian, Grace does not lie and finds pretending to be betrothed challenging and longs to get out of it as soon as possible. There are lots of surprises in this story with some unexpected twists and turns, some humorous situations, finding love unexpectedly, faith and suspense. I love the inspirational thread of God's grace and forgiveness woven throughout the storyline and hoped Brandon would open his heart to God. The secondary characters are delightful, making this a heartwarming story.

Accidental Fiancée by Mary Moore was a fun read. It contained all the elements for romance, conflict, intrigue, and humor.

The social confines of the day put LADY GRACE ENDICOTT into an accidental betrothal when in her zealousness for fair play she makes a mistake. Known rake, LORD WESTON (BRANDON ROTH) doesn’t help matters. The characters play well against each other, offering engaging banter.

I enjoyed watching how Grace and Brandon execute their rectifying plans among people who might catch them in a social faux pas at any moment. Sometimes I laughed out loud. And Moore has a clever subplot by introducing Max. You’ll have to read the book to fall in love with Max.

Moore writes well. She moves the story along and, to this novice regency reader, puts the reader in the period. Be sure to read her note to the reader.

I recommend Accidental Fiancée to Regency readers as well as to women who enjoy how heroes and heroines find true love in and around the Regency period’s social obstacles. The tangle enables great conflict and humor.

I'm giving this 4.5 stars:) This is a really entertaining and lovely read! I love Lord Weston and Lady Grace's chemistry and hysterical spats xD I hope I get to see another rake soon! I just can't believe I hadn't read this earlier smh...

LIH hasn't been publishing a lot of regency novels lately, so I tend to save a few for when I want to escape the "wild west". I'm glad I did, though, cuz this was a treat!

I absolutely loved this story. It's a twofer, in a way, as you get two love stories, but you only follow one closely. That being said, the second love story did not take away anything from the main characters. I have to read more of the author's works!

I found the beginning a little difficult to buy (Grace's handling of the situation, Brandon's reaction/declaration, the whole situation that seemed an over the top reaction to a fairly innocent exchange, etc) and then Brandon's endearments (felt like insta-love), his rationale, and protectiveness of a virtual stranger.

However, I was glad I pushed on. The relationship progressed naturally (though there was still a fair amount of denial - "he/she could never love me, doesn't want marriage, this isn't real, etc.") and the things that they learned about each other which grew respect, admiration, and eventually love actually held substance.

Grace's behavior in the orphanage was baffling to me. I get that it was a bad situation, but she had no authority and no business marching in there, making demands, giving orders or berating anybody. And I don't know how she could possibly have been so totally ignorant of the conditions/daily life. Unless you were super wealthy, your kids didn't play. They worked and helped put food on the table. This was common. Kids were apprenticed to shops, chimney sweeps, you name it. If you were wealthy enough to have servants, you would have been exposed to children working. I don't know, her reaction just seemed like an ignorant, modern mindset - not keeping with the time period.

While I would have been very bothered by Brandon's constant references to his past relationships and experience, I also appreciated that, on the whole, his portrayal felt more realistic than most. He had a temper and responded in anger in believable ways.

The love story was sweet, though I think growing it the point where their life revolves around someone is too far and it's especially disappointing in a Christian novel.

I did like Grace's prayers and that she usually turned to God first, something I wish was more of my own immediate reaction. I liked that she took her faith seriously enough to know she needed to be equally yoked in marriage (a believer marrying a believer).

If you don't mind some elements of initial insta-love and The Big Misunderstanding, I would recommend.

THIS. This is the faith that I want to read in 'Love, Inspired' books. Faith that is lived, not just pat. Faith that calls up hymns, reaches for verses, speaks through fruits. Faith that is a breathing, real thing. THIS.

I love this story. Well, I love Regency stories, anyhow, but this one has so much pluck. There's blackmail, secretive plots, street fights, gun-toting debutantes, enigmatic rakes, daring endeavors, twisted assignations... it has it all. And it's wonderful.

Grace was merely trying to keep Lord Brandon from being led into a marriage trap. Instead, she finds herself trapped into an engagement to him in order to avoid scandal even as she was taking her sister for Lydia's first London season. Lord Brandon is a self-proclaimed scoundrel, but his sense of humor, wit, and soft heart touches her like no one else ever has. Well... a suit of armor named Max came close, once, but Lord Brandon is a real-life hero.

Only he's not to be hers. He's a rake, doesn't wish to be wed. They have an agreement - to pose as affianced long enough to thwart scandal and then part amicably. Except when push comes to shove, neither wants to end their relationship, but both know the other never wanted it in the first place, and seek to be noble.

Throw in orphans, threats from armed strangers, jealousy, and more, and you have a WONDERFUL story!

Okay, I know, a romance. It's summer and I crave a "beach read" for myself and this book was one of my favorite historical romances for a long time. It wasn't just about gowns, swooning, and finding love. This book has a big heart, and it is a Christian book. I loved the main character Grace, who wanted to help people, who wasn't interested in fashion or foolishness. She gets herself in a lot of trouble trying to help the disadvantage and she teaches her love interest the known rake and Duke of Weston about true character and what love really looks like. I loved it.

What a great faith filled story! The fact that grace is given from the Lord unmerited stated throughout this story was wonderful. It was written so beautifully and the story was engaging. Held my attention better than most historical fiction books. I did not want it to end, I was hoping for more after Grace and Brandon worked out their issues. Definitely recommend for a story with Christian values not hidden.

Accidental Fiancee, by Mary Moore, was released in January 2015 by the Love Inspired Historical line. I've had a few false starts on this book, but I finally finished it a couple of weeks ago. I actually enjoyed the novel. It is the story of Lord Weston, Brandon Roth, a marquis who finds himself proposing to Lady Grace Endicott, who is a complete stranger to himself. The situation is a bit ironic. Grace finds herself in this mess because she was trying to warn Lord Weston from getting trapped into proposing to a marriage minded miss who wasn't above using scandal to force him into making an offer. Instead, Grace finds that she has inadvertently forced Lord Weston to offer for herself in order to protect her sister, Lydia, who has yet to make her come out in the upcoming season. Grace no longer considers herself available on the market, but does not believe that Lydia would be able to weather the scandal and make a suitable match unless she and Lord Weston deal with their problem discretely.

They agree to enter into a fake engagement where Grace would cry off and break the engagement after a few weeks, when the gossip would sufficiently die down, or when Lydia successfully finds a match for herself. Grace does not wish to be truly married to Lord Weston; he has a reputation of being a great rake, and she is mortified at the thought of even being perceived as one who would stoop so low as to trap the marquis into marriage. Grace's conscience is also severely tested during this time; she loathes the fact that she is essentially lying to the ton, and is uncomfortable with the realization that she is developing genuine feelings for Lord Weston as they spend more time with each other.

In Accidental Fiancee, Grace is the professing believer, while Lord Weston is the one who is making the journey towards faith. He is helped along in this by his mentor, Lord Langley, who had agreed to support the marquis in his endeavours to make reforms in the House of Lords if Brandon sets aside his rakish ways, which he has. What plagues Brandon is an inability to forget and forgive himself of the mistakes made in his past, which landed him the reputation of being an irresponsible rake. When Grace shows him, well,...grace...and acceptance in spite of his past, Brandon starts to see himself as more than what he has perceived himself to be up to this point. In the beginning, when he first enters into the fake engagement with Grace, Brandon is at first relieved that it is just a temporary measure taken to protect Grace and her sister. However, as he gets to know her and her character, he realizes that he wants to make the engagement real and binding.

Unfortunately, the path to true love does not run smoothly for these two. Besides Brandon's challenge of trying to convince Grace that he truly wants her to be his wife, our twosome must dodge opposition from a jealous widow who plans to become the next Lady Weston, and opponents to Brandon's work of reforms through the House of Lords. Will Brandon be able to win Grace in truth to become his wife? Will he be able to accept God's grace and forgiveness? The key verse that is imprinted at the start of the novel is from Ephesians 2:8 which says, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God...." I've found sometimes that these verses, which are usually found at the start of all Love Inspired novels, to be perplexing as to why they were particularly chosen, but the verse for this novel is more than appropriate for this novel.

As I mentioned before, I liked this novel. I liked the theme of accepting God's grace and forgiveness...something that cannot be earned, but must be received as a gift. It was nice to read a historical with this inspiring message in it.

I liked the idea of the plot and it was well written overall. However, I had major problems with the way the heroine's religion was presented. I have no problem with people having faith, what I do have a problem with is being preached at for the length of a novel and the suggestion that if you don't have God in your life you are somehow unworthy, which I find offensive and condescending. Other than the specific religious elements, the heroine was strange and not in a good way. I like quirky characters but often she came across as odd for the sake of it- having repeated conversations with an inanimate object were meant to make her seem individual (I assume) but made her seem juvenile and rather simple.
