Fairy Tale Quartet #2

Kissing the Boss: A Cinderella Story

Rate this book
What’s the one thing you shouldn’t do when your boss is your ruthless evil widowed stepmother who hates your guts more than anyone?

Kiss the man she’s interested in.

So what does Kaitlynn Judge find herself doing?

Yep, she kisses the one man her stepmother currently wants, who also happens to be the CEO of the company where she works.

Can we say doomed?

After the death of her father, Kaitlynn's life has been stuck in a rut. But that begins to change after meeting a dashing stranger during the office Halloween party. Now she has to navigate vengeful stepmothers, meddling stepsiblings, and gorgeous guys in hot pursuit to reach her happily ever after.

While making a detour from the fantasy aspect, this contemporary take on the Cinderella story continues to cling to a few of our favorite traditions. You’ll still find the unmerited oppression along with fleeing women, missing shoes, mouse companions, magic wands, pumpkin-like rides to the big bash, and so much more. So rest assured, it’s all familiar and yet quirkily different.

description~WRITING - PLOT - PACE~
OMG was this book all kinds of AWESOME. I have never had the pleasure of reading one of Miz Kage's books prior to this one and I am kicking myself in the A$$ for that oversight. The writing was fantastic. The pace was perfect. The plot was engaging. I ADORED her take on the CINDERELLA theme. It was humorous. It was sweet. It was romantic. The only TINY niggle I had with it is that I really would have liked to have seen a further into the future epilogue for this couple. That said, I suspect we will be seeing more of them in upcoming books so that small issue never affected my rating.

~HERO~
EZRA...First, holy awesome name Batman. I almost want to procreate again just so I can name my baby that (lol). I LOVED Ezra. How can you NOT love a man who dresses like Maleficent (complete with heels) for a company Halloween party? OK, so he lost a bet...but still! (lol). He was honestly just a perfect book boyfriend. He was sweet. He was sexy. Didn't appear to be a player. Was pretty much all in for Kaitlynn right from the start. Apologized when he was wrong. What more can you ask for?

~HEROINE~
KAITLYN...Kaity was just as perfect as Ezra for me. She was sweet. She was feisty. She had a huge heart. I loved her and Brick's relationship. She was funny. She was all about Ezra right from the start. I rarely like my heroines as much as my heroes, but this author managed to make me feel just that.

description

~SECONDARY CHARACTERS~
There was a fantastic group of secondary characters in this one. Shaw and Isobel (the couple from book one) make an appearance. As do Gabby and Camille friends of Kaitlyn's and perhaps the heroines for book three & four?? Of course, we also have the evil stepmother Lana who was suitably mustache twirling. And Kaitlyn's two stepbrothers Broderick (Brick) and Hayden. Brick plays an especially big part in this book and I LOVED him (even if he was an uber whore). I can't wait to see what this author has in store for all of these characters.

~HEAT LEVEL~
Medium. It takes a quite a long time before Ezra and Kaity get down to doing the deed. Usually, I am not a fan of slow burns but it worked well in this instance. When we do get to the sexy times, they were suitably hot, and the frequency felt right for the story. The couple also had good on page chemistry.

~ANGST LEVEL~
Low. This was pretty much an easy peasy sweet and romantic type of read. There were a few bumps in the road but nothing huge or that caused very much angst. There was no OW drama (I am not counting the evil stepmother as OW drama) and no OM drama. Neither were virgins and their sexual pasts were not really mentioned at all.

~IN THE END~
I LOVED it. When I have time I want to go back and read book one. Not to mention I will be keeping my eyes peeled for books three and four as well. It was sweet. It was romantic. It wasn't filled with a bunch of OW drama or angst. The writing was fantastic. The characters were charming and loveable. This will definitely appeal to readers who love a good simple romance with a touch of fairytale magic. Therefore yours truly is going to give this one two HUGE thumbs up.description

Beware of those crazy office holiday parties...

I've been a huge Linda Kage fan ever since her Forbidden Men series. She wrote some of my favorite angsty NA romance. This series is nothing like those. I'm actually ashamed to admit that I avoided starting this series because for some reason I thought it was a 4 part book. It's not. It's a quartet series. Each book is a full standalone with HEA set inside the same world and focusing on its own individual spins of fairy tales we know and love.

Kissing The Boss is a deliciously fun take on Cinderella and it was a perfectly light and feel good contemporary romance.

Kaitlynn Judge is stuck working for her witch of a stepmother who now runs her late father's company that she had always dreamed would be hers. Left practically penniless after her father passed and left everything to her stepmother, Kaitlynn is not one to give up her dream. She doesn't care if she has to work for free as a thankless intern for a woman that has no small amount of resentment and hate towards her. But she'll take the licks if it means working her way up in the company and that much closer to making her dreams come true. Instead of two evil stepsisters, she has two stepbrothers. One that's a total manwhore, but loves her fiercely. The other is a bit of a grumpy mystery. But things really spice up for Kaitlynn when an Office Halloween company leads to an unknowing kiss with the company's co-CEO and the object of her stepmother's not so secret obsession.

Ezra Nash was the best part about this book. I seriously loved this man. He was sexy, swoony, and while a bit hot and cold at first when he realizes who Kaitlynn is, once he decides he has to have her, he's not shy about it. I loved the way he pursues and woos Kaitlynn.

I also loved the easy relationship that Kaitlynn has with her stepbrother and how protective he was over her. The slew of secondary characters in this series definitely stole my heart and I'll be going back and reading the first book immediately. This was a super cute twist on a classic tale with just enough of a unique spin to make it stand out. If you're looking for a fun contemporary read with a swoony romance and a feel good story, you definitely can't go wrong with this one.

Linda Kage is one of my favorite authors no matter what she writes. She can be funny, angsty, dramatic and dreamy, all in one book. I met Linda when reading “The Forbidden” series and as you all know, that series is perfection and addictive. A lot of my book boyfriends are from that series 🙂 Another work from her caught my interest because I love fairytales, I am a huge Disney fan and every time I associate a love story with magic, I just swoon. I really believe this is a very original idea, and the way all the elements blended was very sweet to follow and read.

“Kissing the Boss” is the second installment from “The Fairy Tale Quartet”. If the first book was inspired by “Beauty and the Beast”, this one is based on Cinderella, another favorite of mine. I liked Ezra from book 1 and I really wanted Isobel’s brother to have his story shared with us, because I could figure out that beneath that rough exterior, he really is a nice guy, who deserves to find love and a HEA.

He found it in Kaitlynn, a young lady that suffered a lot in her life. After loosing her mom, her dad married Lana Judge, a cold hearted lady, who despised Kaitlynn immensely. After her father passes away unexpectedly, she is left with her stepmother, only to be bashed from her inheritance and home. Wanting to keep herself in her family company, Kaitlynn accepts an unpaid internship, only to be exploited by CEO Lana in the most unimaginable ways possible. She has a good relationship with one of the stepbrothers, Brick, who decided to take Kaitlynn to the company Halloween party as his date. There, she will find Ezra Nash, the other CEO of the company, and after some very pasionate happenings, they will share a very intense moment that will mark the beginning of a very sweet love story.

Where are the Cinderella elements you ask? Well, the stepmother of course, portrayed by the evil Lana, the 2 stepbrothers and most important, the mystery of Kaitlynn identity, because at the beginning, Ezra will not know who is the beautiful girl that stole his kisses and his heart…We will search for her a while and every attempt will put a bit smile upon your face 🙂

The characters were amazing. Kaitlynn had this genuine humour and this naivety that made her so relatable. She dreams big, but she is very afraid of taking some steps further because of her stepmother. She wants her company back and will do everything in her power to work for it. When finding Ezra, she is extremely attracted to him and even though she knew it was something forbidding, she went for it. Ezra was a very complex hero, because he had ups and downs, like any other human being could have. After the fire that took his mom and disfigured his sister, Ezra drifted away and he couldn’t put his life back together 100%. The kiss he shared with Kaitlynn was life changing and his pursue for her was very fun and swooning to watch. His frustration, his mistakes, but also his charisma and enchanting character, made his a very modern Prince Charming, who fought for his girl and used his magic to win her heart.

“Kissing the Boss” is a very special story, with delicious characters, amazing and original plot, that will keep you reading all day. I’ve read this book in 2 days and couldn’t stop thinking about Ezra and Kaitlynn when taking a break from the story. I like the fairytale aspects, the way it blended with the present ones, the humour inflicted, but also the tension and drama, because of boy, we have our faire share of those too throughout the book. I liked how old characters mingle with new ones and form friendships or relationships that will last forever. It gives that sense of belonging, of being part of a family that keeps on getting bigger and bigger as the series progresses.

Oh, and Linda, please let Brick be the next hero because I am dying to find out !!!!!!!!! 🙂

5 stars!

'Kissing the Boss' is the second book of Linda Kage's 'Fairy Tale Quartet' series.
It's a Cinderella retelling and if I have to be honest, I don't like retellings that much. I'm a Disney-girl and can watch the movies countless times over and over again. If someone changes something about the basic story, I'm always disappointed. So retellings are not my cup of tea.

But every rule has to be broken one day, and that's what Linda did. She turned me into a fan of retellings and most of all into someone who loves this series deeply.

'Kissing the boss' is the story of Kaitlynn who works for her evil stepmother who inherited a fashion company after Kaitlynn's dad passed away. Kaitlynn got nothing from her beloved father and instead of being desperate, she tries to find her place in the company by trying to prove her worth every day.

The company struggled a while ago and her stepmother had to sell half of it. Enter Ezra Nash, the co-owner. He and Kaitlynn have no contact. She works in the basement and he's the big boss. That's why they never cross paths. She's seen him a couple of times, but that's all. She doesn't know him.

But all that changes when Kaitlynn stumbles over an irresistible guy in a dress desperately looking for his shoe at the company's Halloween party.

What a shame that the evil stepmother wants the guy for herself...

I love that Linda gave this well known story a modern twist. You still have the feeling that this is a fairy tale, but she has managed to transfer the story into the modern world. And it works. Beautifully.

I fell in love with Ezra at first sight. If you've read the first book of the series ('Monster among the Roses'), you already know him. He was funny, loyal and great in that book, but he's so much more in his own story.

Linda has the ability to create heroes who are so incredibly charming and unique that you have to fall in love with them. Ezra is no exception. He's smart, funny, sexy as hell and most importantly he's the greatest when it comes to Kaitlynn. Not even once does he give her the feeling that he's the big boss.

“Talk to me,” he urged gently. “Something is freaking you the fuck out. I can see it all over your face. Help me understand what’s going on here.” He pressed his lips to my forehead and tucked my stray piece of hair behind my ear again. “I swear, I’ll help fix whatever it is.”

Is there a way not to love this guy? I don't think so.

Kaitlynn is no traditional Cinderella. She's caring and all around a good person but she doesn't need a prince to save her. The princess is trying to save herself and she's doing a wonderful job.

I loved book #1 of the series, but I love 'Kissing the Boss' even more. I'm usually a very fast reader, but to make sure this book isn't over so quickly, I've forced myself to read it over the span of three days. That demanded superpowers from me. I felt like Wonder Woman. A Wonder Woman who just wanted to crawl back in bed and devour the rest of the story.

*disclaimer: I don't do ARCs. Like never. But when I had the chance to read a book of my favorite contemporary author earlier, I couldn't resist. Anyway, that doesn't affect my review. I love this book and reading it earlier and writing a review was my pleasure. I've already bought the paperback :)

This is one of those books that was just so good I don’t even know where to start. I guess I should start by saying I am a massive Linda Kage fan, her Forbidden Men series is still one of my all time favourites. I absolutely loved Monster Among the Roses but this one has had me in it’s spell since the first page.

I found it a lot less emotional than Monster Among the Roses but that might just be me. I didn’t realise that it was Isobel’s brother in this book until he mentioned her and my little peanut brain perked right up. However this is a true standalone and in no way do you need to read that first it was just great to see Shaw and Isobel for the few brief times they came up.

Now obviously everyone knows this was based on Cinderella and I found that it was close enough in similarities but with unique enough twists that it kept me so sucked in and hanging on every word.

Kaitlynn was the perfect Cinderella. She was everything you could want in the role and I immediately loved her. Despite having every reason to she never once played the victim or acted like an idiot. She was so determined to get what she wanted and she was fully prepared to do whatever she had to to get it. I just loved her.

Ezra was the perfect companion for Kaitlynn. And the best prince charming you could ask for. I adored the secondary characters and I am praying that the next novel in this series features who I think it does but if I am wrong I don’t doubt I will still love it. I am sure Linda Kage could write a tampon ad and I would rave about it so if you aren’t already a fan you are missing out. If you are already a fan I am sure you have probably already one clicked this. Either way dive in ASAP.

Ah, Linda you are the BEST!! Linda Kage never disappoints. Just when i needed a sweet read with butterflies in my tummy. BLISS! A modern twist to Cinderella..i absolutely adored the hero!! *hearts in my eyes* and her 'evil' stepbrothers were pretty amazing too.
I skipped the first book, but i'm getting onto it pronto. Each one is a standalone, modern re-telling of classic fairytales.

It's a Linda Kage work so it goes without saying about it's perfection.
The book really had a great pump start. Almost 70% of the book had great action and got the reader up for reading, however after "the chase"  somewhere down the line it started fizzing out. I can't exactly articulate what was missing, but yeah the last few chapters totally lacked "The Wow" Factor. Overall a neat read.

I always like this author's heroes and Nash was no exception but Kaitlyn irritated me a bit! I find the characters in this author's books always read younger than they are. I felt like I was reading YA characters but they're meant to be in their 20's.

I enjoyed it though. I didn't realise there was a book before this one so I will go back and read that and look forward to the others in this series.

**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

This is another retelling of a fairytale, however this one is based on Cinderella and focuses on Kaitlynn Judge, who has a wicked stepmother, and two nice stepbrothers. We also have Ezra Nash, the brother of Isobel Nash from book one.

Kaitylnn is a lovely warm-hearted girl who sees the good in everyone, even her wicked stepmother. There is also so much love (sibling) between Kaitlynn and her stepbrother Brodrick (Brick) and we see a loving helpful brother, the other brother Hayden has his own issues, but also loves her.

Ezra has never met anyone like Kaitlynn before and cannot stop himself from falling for her, even as he tries to distance himself from her to keep her safe he just cannot do it.

Both are sweet individuals and we meet two other characters Camilla and Gabriella who will probably feature in the next two books. I cannot wait to read them.

I read this book in one sitting as i just could not put this book down and i loved the suspense as to what was going to happen next.

Linda Kage, you wonderful wonderful human. How do you manage to make me fall in love with EVERY BOOK YOU WRITE? HOW?! I genuinely can name on one hand the number of authors who have never written a book I disliked. Linda Kage is one of them. Her Forbidden Men series is a yearly re-read for me. I got my friend Kelsey hooked on it and she finished all ten books in 5 days. 5 DAYS Y’ALL!!

So Kage’s books are known for being dark and facing difficult topics. Every single one I have read made me cry. Except this one! There were some darker tones, but overall it was a really wonderful and light retelling of Cinderella. With a few twists. No, our Cinderella does not dress up in a beautiful ball gown her fairy godmother gave her. Instead, she dresses as a yellow power ranger. Much better. And Prince Charming? Dresses as none other than Malificent. With boobs. And heels. Its wonderful.

The romance in Kissing the Boss was just so damn sweet. It held just enough angst to keep me happy, but overall just had me grinning like a damn fool. My cheeks hurt from smiling by the end of this book.

I also ADORED the supporting cast. Kaitlynn’s brother, Brick was hilarious and charming. The perfect man-whore playboy. I can’t wait for his book to come! I have a sneaking suspicion he’s gonna the Big Bad Wolf. And its fits him so perfectly.

My Takeaway: Kissing the Boss was wonderfully light and fun. Such a sweet romance and clever retelling. I can’t wait to read the rest of this Fairy Tale retelling series!

Schade eigentlich. Das hätte echt großartig werden können.

Linda Kage did it again. Another great adaptation of Cinderella fairytale.
Her written style and changes in the story makes you completely forget this is an adaptation, she stay away from the traditional way and you find caught up in the new story, making you laugh like a crazy person and teary-eye the next second.

I usually don't like a book written only in the female POV, I usually end up hating the girl because she can't stop describing how hot and sexy and perfect the male is, but this is a LINDA KAGE BOOK meaning she - like always - gave me a good female character. I think what I liked the most about the way Kaity was written is that she wasn't even interested in Ezra. Yes, she finds him attractive but she doesn't get all poetic and silly while describing him. It isn't until they have a strange and faceless encounter that she finds herself attracted to him and their story begins.

And Ezra, he was the complete package, funny and brutally honest when it comes to let Kaity know she completely caught his attention and that he is very interesting in starting something with her.
Even though we don't get his POV, because of his honesty and straightforward attitude you know how he is feeling and you find yourself more and more in love with him.

On the plus side, the book in my opinion is free of drama, which I appreciated. They were one hundred percent into each other and the thing that was getting in there way was something out of their control.
I also liked the relationship between Kaity and her stepbrothers who were completely different than the Cinderella fairytale, and one of the main reasons I have enjoyed this book as much as the first one. I can't wait to read their stories and find myself more in love with them.

Well, it’s official. Linda Kage had freaking done it again. Kissing the Boss, like both her other series, was a five star read!

The first Linda Kage book I ever read was Price of a Kiss (book one in her Forbidden Men series) and she immediately became an auto buy author for me. After binge reading that 10 book series in 5 days, I was clamoring for more Linda Kage books. Kissing the Boss was very different from her other two series, but it did not disappoint.

Kissing the Boss is a Cinderella retelling and is book two in a fairytale retelling quartet. It has all of the things you could possibly want out of Cinderella in the modern world. It has the horrible step mother, the step siblings (two not so horrible step brothers in this case), a relatable Cinderella character, and, of course, a swoon worthy “Prince Charming”.

All of the characters were very well developed and enjoyable to read. Ezra and Kaitlynn had so much chemistry on the page. I loved their banter so, so much. Let’s just say that I was laughing aloud A LOT during this book. I also adored Kaitlynn’s step brothers and can’t wait to read about them in future books (fingers crossed).

Kissing the Boss was very fast paced and engaging. It was a binge worthy, one sitting read for me. I could really go on for a long time about how much I love this book, but let me stop before I really start fangirling.

Without a doubt, if you love retellings, fun reads, swoon worthy men, or any combination of the three, read this book!

Very humorous take on a modern retelling of Cinderella. The author takes the old fairy tale and gives it a her own twist while having you laughing so hard your all most crying to swooning over the hero and having your heart breaking for the heroine.

As the series name suggest this is a four book series. The first was a twist on Beauty and the Beast and the brother of Isobel (the beast) is the hero in this book. Two characters that you meet in this book will be the heroes of the other two books. I love how the author is tying all the characters together even though each book is another modern “fairy tale”story.

Unfortunately this was not my kind of book.

The modern Cinderella retelling indeed started out as quirky and gripping as advertised, but couldn't hold my attention much longer after the first 10 chapters or so.

There were always the same discussions between the two main characters and everything was extremely predictable.

The characters and idea are cute though, so anyone who is in the mood for a light and sweet read will love this.

Linda kage has done it once again all of her books are a must read and should be one clicked stat , Kissing the boss can be read as a standalone but I suggest that you start with Monster among the Roses the couple make a some appearances and the hero of this is the brother of the heroine from it . I'm such a fan of retelling of modern fairy tales especially if it's written by one of my favorite authors and she added her own spin to it . I loooooove the way Ezra and Kaitlynn meet it was such a unique funny way that showed their own set of quirks with them not knowing who they other was they shared alot of chemistry it felt like I was intruding but couldn't look away . I fell for Ezra in book one he stole my heart with the way he was with his sister he's funny , sweet , giving (wink) , handsome , smart , talented , and alpha protective the list could keep going with this swoony hero . Really liked Kaitlynn she is such a ray of sunshine my heart hurt for this woman the things that she had to go through and the struggles she was faced with I admired her strength while holding onto the light she's funny , sassy , smart , talented , and beautiful on the outside as she is on the inside adored the relationship she shared with her step brother had me laughing or either close to tears with every scene they shared . Sexual tension between Ezra and Kaitlynn was off the charts the sex scenes were not only hot but sweet too add in the mutual respect for one another you get one hell of a couple . The secondary characters were as lovable as the couple themselves hoping to see more from them especially with the way the ending was a bit of a tease I need to know like now (wink) . If Linda Kage is new to you you definitely need to one click all of her book I suggest start with Price of a Kiss which is still one my favorite books I've ever read and work your way through the Forbidden love series which again is one of my favorite series EVER then you'll be hooked so get the rest of her stories now (wink) .

Review by Jen Skewes

It is no secret that I am a huge fan of Linda Kage’s writing. From the moment that I read the first book in her Forbidden Men series I was hooked. And as always she did not disappoint. Kissing the Boss is the second book in the Fairy Tale Quartet series. This is the modern day retelling of Cinderella, complete with a mean stepmother, two step-siblings a charming prince and even a little mouse.

Kaity is one of those characters that you will just love. Unfortunately she has been handed a raw deal. When her father passed, he left everything to her stepmother, including her father’s business that she has dreamed of running since she was a small girl. Kaity is kind and sweet and tries to find the good in everyone. Instead of fighting and getting revenge on Lana, she plans on taking over the company in a different way, even if it means dealing with Lana’s crap and if it takes her longer than expected. At the company Halloween party she meets her Prince Charming, all though in this case it wasn't exactly in the form of a prince.

Ezra Nash owns half of her father’s company. We met him in the first book and I was so excited to see that this was his story. He may be this big corporate CEO of the company but he is sweet, caring and just an amazing guy. When he meets Kaity for the first time there is this instant connection that I absolutely loved. Their connection was one that was just so genuine and real. From the moment they met you could feel it, between the flirty banter and the scorching first kiss you knew they were meant to be. But Ezra has no idea who she is and when he finds out it could ruin everything!! Even if he can get past it, there will still be obstacles in their way, in the form of an evil step-monster who wants Ezra herself. Hmmmmm, will she be able to break these two apart?

Kissing the Boss was a fun and light read and one that I devoured. I read this book in one sitting and never wanted to put it down. I loved Ezra and Kaity together. It was if they knew each other for longer than they did. The flirting and just the way they were around each other was just so fun to watch. I loved everything about them. I loved the relationship she had with her step-brother Brick. Linda Kage did an amazing job with this book. I loved how she re-told this epic fairy tale, in a unique, fun and kind of quirky way. I mean when you see how these two met and who they were dressed as will have you laughing. I cannot wait for the next one.

Absolutamente recomendado.

Kissing The Boss is the second book in the “Fairy Tale Quartet” and this is where the “Cinderella” retelling comes into play into the romance. Kissing The Boss is a book that I have LITERALLY had on my kindle for a LONG time haha I don’t know how long but I think I bought it back when it was published. As much as I love reading on my kindle, it can be so easy to forget about the books you have on your kindle, those digital bookshelves can be so difficult on our memories, or at least mine. So yes this was merely a book that I just forgot that I had and I adored book one and I was literally just looking for a book to read and didn’t know what I was in the mood for and just saw this one and was like, “this sounds like a keeper” and I really need to read it. And I am definitely wishing that I had read this book earlier because I really had a blast with this one here. I had forgotten how much I had loved this author and her writing style and how well it works for me.

Kissing The Boss is a lively romp of a contemporary romance that features:

Ezra-co CEO of a fashion company, driven, protective, successful and wealthy

Kaitlyn-daughter of the late CEO of Fashion Company, determined to get her company back, kind and generous, no mean bones in her body

Kissing The Boss is a story that takes on the Cinderella retelling, but with some differentiations. Kaitlyn lost her parents, but also lost the company that her father reared her to take over one day. She still doesn’t understand how her father could leave it to her stepmother. But unlike with the fairy tale telling, she has two step brothers who love her and aren’t mean to her like how cruel her stepmother actually is to her and I really loved seeing that. Seeing how they look out for her and really care for her and fight for her against their own mother and that loyalty is beautiful to see. Then enters the hero. Kaitlyn is dragged to the company party which is a masked costume party, and out in the garden she ends up coming across the big CEO Ezra (Nash) and there is a strong chemistry that erupts between them. They share a beautiful moment, but Kaitlyn doesn’t know how they could ever make it work. But Ezra refuses to let Kaitlyn go, and is willing to fight for them.

Kissing The Boss was a fantastic book and I just couldn’t put this one down. It was so entertaining, the humor and wit displayed in this story was superb in every way. I just couldn’t seem to get enough of what this book contains. I really loved this office romance, and I definitely think most people will enjoy this one even if you don’t like the power dynamics in some of them, because in this book he isn’t really her boss. She works in a different department, so that is where it works better for me. (of course you are talking to a reader that doesn’t mind power dynamics that much) so haha there is that. But I do think it’s a story that most will enjoy. There is a sense of forbidden (which is Linda Kage’s signature) she really likes to show how  a couple can overcome their situations. The stemother in the story is one piece of work though. She is scary at times, so I felt like Linda Kage really writes these type of villains so well. I just felt for the characters and most especially for Kaitlyn for having to deal with such a stepmother over the years. And her character was one that I really connected to. I just adored how kind and generous she is. She has been abused for years, but she doesn’t let that affect how she treats other people and I just love seeing her have such a beautiful soul.

The romance was so tender and captivating. I wanted these two to win so much and just fight back against the stepmother more but I understood why the heroine especially was so resistant. I think she knew how evil and manipulative she could be. I will be honest though my only reservation about the book that kept it from a 5 is the ending of the book. I really couldn’t stand how she treats the hero, almost like when everything is revealed, the hero is at fault almost and that just wasn’t the case. I didn’t understand what the heroine was actually doing there. Because our hero is GOLD, and he is going to make my top book boyfriend lists for the year. I just adored him so much, because he is perfect in every way. I love how he is with his family, how he fights for the heroine, and his character is kind and generous and sees to the needs of everyone under him in his company. He truly cares for his employees and that shows what his character is made of.

Overall I found Kissing The Boss to be a lively, endearing, laugh out loud romance that will delight its readers in its solid writing, beautiful emotion and a relatable characters guaranteed to charm your heart.

**REVIEWED BY KATIE**

I loved this book! There are few books that grab me from page one, keep me glued to my kindle, and exceed my expectations, but this book did!

Anyone who's followed me on the blog these last few years should NOT be surprised at how much I love Linda's work! From her Forbidden Men to her newest, the Fairy Tale Quartet, I gobble up everything she puts out as soon as I can!

Kissing the Boss is the second in the series, and while I am a huge advocate of not reading out of order, you will not miss any main plot points by not reading Monster Among the Roses first. (Although, there is no reason you shouldn't. It's another of my favorite recent reads!)

So can we just state the obvious here?! There is a book character. With a name that is basically mine. (Katie, Kaitlynn; potato, pahtahtoe.) And I LOVE her!!  She's strong. She has taken a lot of beatings in her life. She's been knocked down, drug out, put through the ringer, and still, she thrives. She is actually happy, independent and still tries to see the good in everything and everyone.  I can't help but think Linda made this character (albeit VERY LOOSELY) based on me. OK, OK, I know, my ego needs to shrink. But, one of the very reasons I loved this book so much, is the fact these characters (minus the evil step-monster) are relatable and I can see myself in their shoes. It's an entirely new reading experience when you feel immersed in the story, and Linda has managed to make me feel I'm not just an outsider looking in, but I am a living, breathing part of the story!

The hero is a down to earth, lovable guy. For those who have read Monster Among the Roses, you will know a bit of his back-story, but if you haven't, you will still love him just as much! Although raised in wealth and fortune, he is a down-to-earth, romantic, strong willed and just man. He has a moral compass that is highly tuned, and let's not forget how sexy he is!

When Kaitlynn and Ezra meet, the spark is instantaneous. Shrouded in a blanket of darkness, there is an excitement of anonymity. They draw of the two will keep you hooked to your kindle, and the sparks only grow to burning flames as the book progresses.

Linda also introduces us to a few new female friends in this book, and their quirkiness makes them adorable and lovable. I am sure the characters will play important roles as the series progresses!

Linda has managed to take one of the most iconable and inspirational stories and put her own spin on it, and her twists make this one of my favorite adaptations of all times. (Yellow Power Rangers, anyone?) This is one story that will make my re-read lists over and over again!

Kaitlyn Judge isn't sure what happened but when her father passed away, she always thought that she would inherit the fashion house she grew up being groomed for. Instead her stepmother inherited it and the only way Kaity found a way to still be part of the company is to intern for free. She has been treated cruelly by her step mother but she is willing to put up with it to earn a place in the company. After a horrible day though Kaity ends up at a Halloween party in disguise and in the arms of the most beautiful man she has ever seen. Well she doesn't know who he is because of the mask, but the chemistry is off the charts. What happens when Kaity figures out it is her boss and the man her evil stepmother wants.

This was highly entertaining. I laughed out loud several times and loved the chemistry. I enjoyed everything about this book, a keeper.

4 stars!

This was a pretty funny and enjoyable read based on Cinderella !

I really liked this book and it's characters. The story was cute, light(ish); and, somewhat funny (I even laughed at some parts of it).

The romance here was sweet and truly meant to be. And I absolutely loved how Ezra and Kaitlyn 'found' each other.

Throughout the book we get to meet new characters that we quickly come to love; and we have the chance to revisit the MCs from book #1: Monster Among the Roses, which I liked.

Now, I'm so looking forward to reading the next book of the series - B & E Ever After - about Hayden (Kaitlyn's older stepbrother) and Gabby. (I so want to see serious, closed-up Hayden fall in love!).

I was about to flip out on Kaitlynn at the end but it came back around so I can't complain.

I don’t think I’ve ever read a romance book where the only reason I want to finish it is because of the plot. I really didn’t like the romance in this book and the FMC drove me up the wall.
I enjoyed the plot though, but thought it was rushed.
