It was an easy read. No heavy scientific terms except for essential brain parts such as "prefrontal cortex," "cerebrum," "cerebellum," etc. The target readers are mostly students especially the younger ones, though adults can also find some interesting stuff here. The English edition i read was published in 2003 and i made this review in 2018. I'm sure there are new findings after 15 years of its publication, so I suggest to readers of this edition (if there isn't any new edition that's been published yet) to accompany it with newer materials.

I have picked up this book in the local Kumon Center, borrowed it and finished it quickly.. A easy read, would recommend for the young minds, teens and college students while they have their chance to read and develop theirs brains.

Important information is Reading every day, memorizing and repetition helps to improve the Brian. Which is why we need to read / learn every day to make progress and develop the knowledge..

Gives a good basic idea of the brain for kids. Wish I had read it when I was in school 😊

After completing the 60 day program in this book, I can say that there are both advantages and disadvantages to it's way of approaching the idea of 'brain training'.
On the one hand, since most of the book is concerned with daily mathematical equations, this is the predominant aspect you're meant to train. The significant drawback then is that while this may be of use to those needing help in this area, it does not necessarily do much for others.
I my opinion, the chief advantage of the book however, is that it forces you to develop a daily routine making time (and head space) for the exercises. I found that more than the ability to calculate (which over the 60 days did not really improve that much for me), the training to concentrate myself exclusively on the task did. While this is hinted at in the introduction to the book (which tends to focus more on explaining the different parts of the brain and their functions), I think it's actually one of the main goals aimed at by this system (and the reason I gave it an overall positive rating).
While I do recommend it, being a bookstore employee I feel obligated to add the caveat that this is an exercise book, and therefore will only give you results if you follow the program completely through. I do think you'll see results, but again, this is a book - not a miracle cure - so your expectations should be moderate.

Actually i bought this book with great expectation to improve my memory skills and to hone my brain activities. the book has written very easy to understand and not boring to read till the end, Ryuta described and narrated well to read the book. but moving to the area of what i was expected was not fulfilled. actually this book is described in detail about the 4 parts of brain and its functions, not something so special tactics to do the practices, these ideology we have already learnt from our secondary school science books.

Best book to know about our brains. Gave me a lot of curiosity and understanding about my brain and habits, and habit formation.
