Rebekah A. Morris has lived her entire life (as of now) in Missouri. Being home educated during her school years was great, except for writing. That was the worst subject (along with math) that she had to do. It wasn't until after she graduated that she discovered the joys and wonder of writing. Now she can't write enough. After spending six years in research and writing, she completed her first book, "Home Fires of the Great War," a 500+ page, historical fiction about home life in the United States and Canada during the First World War. Since then, she has been an avid writer and always has more than one story going on at once because only one story at a time got tiring and dull.
I had such an enjoyment reading this little story. A young wife reflects on the story of her salvation and of how God has provided for her since. A dear little tale that reminds us of the important things of life.
This is a very sweet story! I loved the sweet, snowy feeling throughout, and of course I couldn't help but like Mary Lou! She has a very kind heart to the poor, and great trust in the Lord! It is most true what she said, "For He is faithful that promised!"
Yes, I realize I'm almost a year late, but I came into these in February and hadn't caught up until now. Which is fine because it's a great story to read looking forward to another new year. :)
I really enjoyed this story, especially the way the backstory came out gradually, which gave an almost-mystery feel at times. I also loved the way Mary Louise learned to lean on God over and over through her different trials. And I loved the way it ended. <3
What an absolute delightful tale about God's faithfulness, promises, and love. I loved the author's writing style. This was my first book by Rebekah Morris and for sure it won't be my last!
What a delightful, sweet, encouraging, heartwarming little story! I couldn't put it down from the moment I picked it up. The story is told from the perspective of a young wife and mother who is missing her absent husband and grieving over the loss of her father, while at the same time doing her best to keep her faith in God and trust Him through every trial. I found it very refreshing and encouraging, and the ending was so sweet and wonderful! For He is Faithful that Promised!
“A New Life” is a short story set during the winter. I really like the cover! The story wasn’t my favorite though. I was a little confused with what was happening at first, but I soon understood. The writing style was a little different. It switched between first person and third person. I think that had something to do with my confusion.
It's been several years since I read this little story, but I enjoyed rereading it. The reminder that the Lord is faithful with His promises was encouraging.
3 stars & 3/10 hearts. This was a nice read. At first I was a little worried at the direction it was taking, but it remained 100% clean, which is one of the reasons why I love Rebekah Morris. I enjoyed the vintagy setting and the drama, of course. :D And the whole “faithful is He” theme—I loved it!!
A Favourite Quote: “Those were dark days, days it was hard to trust the promises of my heavenly Father, difficult to remember that He is faithful that promised; but He is faithful even when I doubt and my faith grows dim.”
