This issue was okay. Not a whole lot really happened and it was mostly set up for the next issue (which is the last in this arc I'm assuming). I do want to say, I've heard/seen a lot of people complain about the art for this title recently. And I still don't think it's bad, but this issue really stood out because Luke, Leia, and Han all looked like... creepily done CGI in like 95% of the pages they showed up it. Like it was hyper realistic, but also obviously not real people cause their hair or body looked like traditional comic art. Very odd choice, and a little unsettling if I'm being honest.

The surprisingly dull story arc continues to be dull, surprisingly! And until Salvador Larroca is relieved of his 'art' duties on this comic I will continue to point out that he is an awful artist that should be ashamed of his lazy work.

I'm really feeling the ramp up to the final chapter of this arc next month. This arc has really taken its time and this issue is starting to give the pay off. A monologue by Luke about the sacrifice of Rogue One really ties this comic in to the bigger story and some great dialogue between Chewiee and Han are a couple strong moments in this issue. Really hoping to be blown away by the finale.

The previous issue felt like it went on a bit of a tangent, but in this one we get to see Luke think about the sacrifices of Rogue One and whether or not knowing what it took to get the plans would have impacted the destruction of the Death Star. I also like the moments between Han and Chewie. There may not have been much action, but I dig the character moments. The art, though, again, needs some work.

Still enjoyable. It feels more like the type of story one would find in a novel: pacing itself, establishing its plot and its characters. I think I am more forgiving because I already know the characters. Maybe I would care less if they were unknowns or new. I wonder if that is what the writers think too.

Considering this is my least liked story arc within this mega-75 issue Star Wars comic book series, this one was not bad.

I do feel like this is narrowing down towards closure though, which is the most exciting aspect of this. I say again, really looking forward to the content creator swap-out, which I sincerely hope is coming soon after Ashes of Jedha concludes.

I want to give this 5 stars for the conversation between Han and Chewie but I can't rightfully do so when the art is SO bad. It's distracting. I'm reading through this series on marvel unlimited right now and I dread every second I have to spend looking at Larocca's art.

Just not congruent with the usual Star Wars vibe. Digital illustrations don’t appeal to me. The storyline and dialogue is lacking. One of the poorest Marvel comic series.

#42 - “I’ve been thinking about Jyn and the rest of Rogue One.” – Luke

the art on the covers is fantastic, but the art on the inside is just so..

- I'm seriously thinking of switching over to the trade books. They will sit better on my shelves, and I can get larger chunks of story at once. I just don't like the idea of having individual comics and trade books. I like everything to match. Maybe someone out there would trade me. I don't know! Anyone want to buy my comics?

- The story has turned into A New Hope. They get the plans to the giant weapon they can't hurt and find its weakness.

- I love that Luke reflects on Jyn and the Rogue One crew, and he connects how he couldn't have destroyed the Death Star without them.

- There are some great Han moments in this issue.

I don’t usually review individual comics. I’m in them more for the long haul story and the art. The art being why I am reviewing this. I love LOVE Star Wars comics. I love when K. Gillen is one of the writers. I do NOT enjoy S. Larroca’s art. It is lazy, my best guess is that he’s taking beloved stills of Han and Leia and sporadically Luke’s faces from the original trilogy and then digitally adding to them. It’s weird and distracting.

Then there’s this issue in particular! In the most egregious case, 1 page before the exact middle Han’s hand looks like a baby hand was fused to his arm. If I knew how to add pictures to this I would.

Backgrounds occasionally look amazing, people not so much. 3rd from the last page...what’s going on with Han, proportions are weird, Han has these tiny baby length arms. Once you start noticing it you realize it’s littered all over the issue. It’s awful! Do better, get a different artist!
