Este manga comenzó super lindo pero hace mucho que no pasa nada. En este tomo tenemos lindos dibujos, sí, pero cero evolución de trama y un romance tan lento que parece ir en retroceso.

Mitsuki is a shy and socially awkward girl who struggled to make friends in middle school. Now as she enters high school she vows to make an ultimate friend! Towa, Kyosuke, Ryuji and Rui are the stars of the boys' basketball team and not what she was looking for, but after a huge misunderstanding they befriend Mitsuki... whether she wants them to or not! Add in an odd girl with her own ideas about this foursome and a long-haired guy who could give beauty queens a run for their money and we have Mitsuki's new high school life!

This is a review of volumes 3-4 which I read together back to back. See the plot section for my thoughts on the individual volumes.

Waiting for Spring vol 3-4 is about the end of the boy's basketball season. They go up for the semi-finals in their bracket... these are very important games and Mitsuki wants to support them. Particularly Towa who has shared how important basketball is to him. She is such a nervous Nelly wondering what she can do for him that it makes for some pretty funny situations. Aya isn't giving up either... he had a connection just as deep with Mitsuki at one point. By the end we find that Mitsuki stills feels for him as well... we just don't know if its romantically as he wants. We also have the group come together for some fun time! I love these group sessions, it makes for some real high school life!

In volume 3 we meet a new girl Maki Sudo, who is also in basketball but for the girls. She befriends Mitsuki and its actually a double edged sword that adds a lot of tension. Kyosuke plays a large role as he's witness to a little interaction between Mitsuki and Aya. He, more than anyone, realizes how Towa and Mitsuki feel about one another and he really enjoys pressing their buttons. Between these two events both Towa and Mitsuki are feeling really uncertain about what they mean to the other.

Then in volume 4 Aya and Reina meet for the first time. Let's just say that there are fireworks that makes things tense for Mitsuki! Towa and Aya also throw down some words as they will be meeting on the court if all goes well. Aya with his experience and obvious skill has some choice things to say about that and you start to worry that like any sports commentator worth his salt he may be right. I figured that we would get some upbeat group fun next and wasn't expecting Towa to get so aggressive with Mitsuki... and neither did his friends!

Really the excitement in Waiting for Spring vol 3-4 was super high and fun.

The moments between Towa and Mitsuki though are so subtle and breathtaking. It really is nuanced with the pains of young, new love. Little advances and tiny setbacks all work together to give us this budding love in Waiting for Spring vol 3-4. My favorite moment from vol 3 is when Mitsuki's wish comes true! I didn't even think about the implications of her wish until that moment... it was super fun and I felt my heart beating right along with her. In vol 4 it has to be the bathing suit realization! Both Towa and Mitsuki go there and can't handle what they imagine.

The visuals shine when the boys are on the court playing basketball! I felt the tension and the power of the crowd and events on the court. At the end of the games the art brought the boy's efforts and the score to a resounding crescendo. I also really enjoy the moments they are together as a group. in the cafe or out having fun, it didn't matter. Anashin sure knows how to bring a group together on the page. It's one of the best and most fun aspects of Waiting For Spring! This is about young love but its also about friendship and being in high school too.

Waiting for Spring vol 3-4 is the next natural step in a sports romance that is slow burn with a love triangle that makes total sense plus a coming of age where friends, a sports passion and an awkward girl combine for a shoujo manga that is fun and full of unexpected depth!! I will TOTALLY be checking out vol 5-6 next and see if Mitsuki can get Towa to take things to the next level...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Authenticity
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tension
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Plot
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Art

This is a multi-volume series and there may be references to the plot of those volumes... SO READ WITH CARE! Here is my review of 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 |

Kyosuke is such a meddler in the best way haha. the scene in the cafe where he talks to Towa about Mitsuki in a swimsuit hahaha.

aND THE KABEDON.

The friendship is growing even stronger, the rest of the four guys show Mitsuki how one of the guys she is.

Even though Towa's the fave, I'm rooting for Aya right now just because of how forward he is and their history!

Content: lost game, injured Ryujin, summer trip to amusement park.

While I'm still loving this series, this love triangle needs to be resolved. I know that everyone is rooting for Towa. And while he's great, I need him to grow a pair and admit he likes her. Honestly, if I had to pick I want her to be Aya. He knows what he wants and he's not as timid.

Anywho... I'm excited for volume 6 to see what happens next!

This is another fun volume and it deepens all the friendships.
This is the volume where it really is starting to turn into a reverse harem, especially when they get to the amusement park. I really love how much all the characters care for each other, and the fact that the story is not set just at school. The sports aspect of it gets a good amount of attention as well, so it feels really balanced.

I liked this volume solely for the fact that it focused on the basketball court and watching the fabled 4 in action was a delight. As for Mitzuki, I am honestly getting a bit tired of her and the fact that while Aya-chan is acceptedly pushy, she seems to have turned into a dithering idiot.

This entire series is so cute, I may just die from cuteness overload. Mitsuki is so adorable and I adore her. And that cliffhanger? Come on man. I ordered the next two volumes right after finishing this one. 😂

4.5 My only issue is one character because they don’t understand what “no” means or respecting boundaries. Everything else is so cute and lovely expect that person!

4/5 stars.
Honestly I really like this series. This volume focuses on the basketball team since they are playing the tournament to go to the Inter high. Mitsuki is determined to cheer them up and Reina Chan is still taking a lot of pictures. Aya is there and he wants mitsuki to cheer for him as well. He thinks towa’s team is weak and once they lose their two stars they are unable to win. However, Mitsuki wants them to win. In the end she sees Aya playing and he’s great where it matters. He is a good player and he’s all grown up and now he’s back and people love him. Her team is still playing and they have an 8 point lead but that’s nothing in basketball. Ryuji intercepts the ball and towa scores and he was kind of aggressive and great. The other team has the player number 10 who just got out to the court and he’s fresh. Ryuji wants to play still. The captain gave them a speech and he’s happy to be there and that worked better than Nanachan drinks. However he gets injured and they lose. Mitsuki is crying and Reina is fully sobbing but she goes out to see Towa. Ryuji went to the hospital and it might be a pulled muscle. Mitsuki is crying because she got really worked up and she wanted them to win. Towa promises that he will get stronger and better and she’s determined to do the same. They hug and aya sees them. He is surprised that Towa isn’t crying after that game, and maybe he underestimated him. After the tournament Towa is training really hard and he’s late for class. The girls team also lost and one of them was really sad for her senpai and they were crying as well. She asks about Towa but he’s late to clase. They don’t eat together in the roof anymore because ryiuji is still injured and he eats at his classroom with the guys. Reina Chan brings some pictures and it was creepy but lowkey funny? Things are different, and Mitsuki wants to talk with Towa but she doesn’t know how to. Nanachan tells her that in those cases, she should act normal because that’s what they need. The guys are back at the café but Towa will be late because he went to the doctor with Ryuji. They send him because he was training so hard and he needs to rest. Later on, he arrives without Ryuji. It was a pulled muscle and he would be able to train the week after the next. He didn’t go to the café as a punishment. When they were back at youth basketball they lost a game and Ryuji said he wouldn’t play video games or read comics anymore because he needs that time to train. If he wants to be good at basketball he needs to take it seriously and he doesn’t want to lose. Neither do the guys but one of them doesn’t want to give up video games and comics. In the end Ryuji went back to do those things, but as a punishment he would train harder and he got much better. The guys saw his evolution and they started training as well and they got to see each other a lot. He might be back at the cafe but after that lost they don’t know. They need to focus on getting better and practice more as individuals. Mitsuki is happy to see that they are good friends and they have each other. Towa tells her he won’t make her cry ever again and Ryuji is there with Nanachan. He didn’t last a day and he thinks that if he indulges in seeing her, he would have to train harder than before. Also now that the tournament is over they can meet together and they want Mitsuki to be there, otherwise it won’t be the same. She has to pick the place and Reina Chan wants to go to the beach to see the guys in a BATB suit. Mitsuki thinks it’s too early but Nanachan thinks it’s a good idea. They have exams coming and Mitsuki wants to avoid summer school so she can hang out with the guys, but she’s thinking about where they should go. Once they are done they talk but aya calls her. He’s gonna start the Inter high camp soon and he wanted to hear her voice. She was in the middle of a discussion with the basketball team about where to go and he wants Mitsuki to go on a date with him, just the two of them. She is not sure about it but they’ll talk. Towa goes out to talk to her because he wants to know her opinion about the meeting. Ryuji didn’t like the beach or the water park idea because Nanachan will wear a bikini and the guys start teasing him. One of them teases Towa with Mitsuki and the bikini and in the end, he votes against it. Mitsuki read an article about lucky charms and romantic spots at the theme park and she tells Towa about her idea. They all end up at the park together and Mitsuki is determined to confess her feelings to Towa. She wants to spend more time with him. She wants to be with him and go home with him and she knew it for a really long time. She thinks maybe at the Ferris wheel she will get the courage to say it but she’s not sure. Rui and her get together at one of the lucky charms and he’s grateful for her friendship because she’s not like the other fangirls. She’s genuine about it. He thinks maybe in the future they could be a couple but he doesn’t like her yet.
Honestly all of the volumes are really cute. I love how much Towa loves basketball. It’s the thing that matters to him the most and he’s genuinely happy when he plays. Mitsuki wants to get stronger for him and for herself and I love how she’s always there for the guys. Aya is annoying. He is kind of possessive and full of himself. I get that the guy is amazing at basketball but he’s always attacking Towa and I’m not here for it. There’s a massive difference between the two of them and I like Towa better. I wish the other guys were more developed or that we could see more of them. Also I still think Reina Chan has a kink for the basketball team getting together and it’s kind of creepy. Also the setting of this one was really cool. The theme park and the lucky charms were cute and I laughed a lot every time Mitsuki had one with every guy but Towa(and Ryuji). Also I adore the friendship. How the guys always try to get Mitsuki to be comfortable and how they take into account what she wants and how much they want her to attend the meeting. I think it was cute to see and it melted my hear.
I can not wait for the next volume, but aya is on the cover and I think he’s gonna play a bigger role and I’m not here for it 😢

Yeah, I'm dropping this. I can't stand Aya as a love interest and I couldn't care less who Mitsuki ends up with. And if I don't care who the main character ends up with in a ROMANCE manga, then obviously there's no point in continuing.

Sadly think I've gotten too old for the "boys fight over the girl and ignore the wishes of the girl" trope.

Overall manga review:

A great series with unconventional yet super fun friendships. The character dynamics were great and there were many hilarious and embarrassing moments.

The romance was well-written but never balanced between the two male love interests. The protagonist clearly loved the main love interest only. The second male love interest, who just so happened to be the protagonist’s childhood friend, was extremely pushy and forceful. His every advance was evaded and unwanted yet he still seemed to think it was okay to pursue the protagonist. At one point she outright told him to stop but due to seem weird aggressive competitiveness between the two male love interests, which likened the protagonist to some possession to be fought over or some game to be won, he continued.

The sports element of this manga was refreshing to see and I liked that it was given just as much importance as the romance. I liked that the games weren’t predictable, but in the end the match that mattered between the two male love interests didn’t at all go to plan in a way that made it all feel so unfinished. I’ll admit it got a bit tiresome seeing all the characters take the basketball so seriously like it was life and death to the point that the protagonist was not only understanding but also expecting the main love interest to love basketball more than her.

Aside from some weird and questionable aspects this was a great and enjoyable shojo romance/sports manga!

I did like this one because it had a Ryuji chapter, Rui made me laugh at the amusement park, and in general the summer planning and amusement park parts were fun. I skimmed everything else, so it's more of a 2.5.

This love triangle is annoying. Homegirl isn’t even interested in Aya. The author is forcing there to be a conflict. Towa needs to get it together already.
