Review to come.

Some laugh out loud moments for a variety of reasons, though it would have been nice to have a foreword/introduction explaining that these were conversations from a range of people and maybe giving some context.

As it is, I enjoyed it a lot more the second time around, knowing this going in.

It really is a "collection of online dating conversations." If you're picking this book up thinking it's going to go deeper into dating in the 21st century, then you're gonna be disappointed. This who book is a collection of chat messages and conversations that show the stupid, funny, and sometimes creepy side of online dating.

A lot of it made me laugh out loud, but I don't think I would buy it knowing it's just a collection of texts, it took me less than 30 mins to read, and I don't even think I'll reread it. I think people who went through weird encounters and messages on Tinder and its likes would relate more, but since I never have, it was just a good laugh.

I thank netgalley for the digital copy.

This is literally just a collection of conversations taken from some tumblr account about dating apps. No commentary, no essays between, nada. There are 682947 Instagram accounts that offer the same as this but actually add commentary. This is not a “book” in any traditional sense.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for a fair and honest book review.

5stars

Such a fun read! It consists of texts or chats where you see in an online dating app or website. I have tried it and man it was really horrible! The next day, I deleted the app and for sure I wouldn’t install it again. I guess I’ll just download it if I want a laugh - but I don’t think I’ll need it in the future, I have this good book with me to stop myself from installing it. Ha!

This is literally a collection of pictures of texts from what I picture as a dating app. Some were hilarious, some not so much, but it was a short, enjoyable read.

Thank you to NetGalley for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

What even is this book? Like, it's hilarious, but I really hope these aren't real tinder conversations, because geez.

Um, I didn't realize what this is. This is not a book. Or, if this is a book, then we humans have set our bar really, really low. You can compare this to a picture book without pictures, with tinder exchanges instead.

To be fair, this tinder collection didn't lie or misrepresent itself. It is exactly what it says - no plot.

Well, first off, I'd say this was a well short read. I mean, with taking me barely 30 minutes to finish all of it. I like some really light reads every now and then and this book definitely helped with it. There were a few rather humorous conversations that ended up in this conversation and I couldn't help but smirk at the characters' witty replies. Not all were that great though. So although the book took me 30 minutes to finish off, I'd say that only about 5 of these minutes were spent in a good mood. The rest was sort of okay-ish. And sadly, I do not like working with okay-ish. Nonetheless, it was a fun read, all things considered.

A light read with a nice attempt at humor, I think the conversations in this book were something that could have been improved. Now the thing though was that when I read the description, and when I saw the cover, I assumed that the book would be something that would share the story of a young man or woman trying to date. Sort of a humorous read that way but it was merely conversations. And another thing is that it definitely did not work as an e-book. I mean, I'm sure that in a normal book with pages, it would have been great but in an e-book where there were no new "pages", per se, it was a disaster. I wish the author or publisher could have the e-book edited according to that.

Update: 2nd Read (May 12, 2020):
I think some of the ideas here were rather fun, but it certainly could have been improved upon. And yes, I do hope the publisher and author get the actual ebook edited, since I once again read the Netgalley version, haha.

#single is a very quick read. There is no introduction to the ‘book’ it just starts with ‘conversations’ and you as the reader have to figure out what is going on. According to the Amazon book description this book is based off the website TinderTuesday.com and as I was researching for my review I found this: the site is not even active anymore- in fact you can purchase the domain name if you wanted! I also saw there was a Facebook and Twitter page and neither one have been updated in over a year. Why was this copy and paste conversations put together as a ‘book’ I have no idea.

Now that is out of the way…. #single gives you an idea of what dating now is like. And I can say these conversations are…entertaining to read. I feel for the people that are the recipients of these messages. If you have online dated in the past you will get some entertainment from this book.

This is like a coffee table book of entertainment if you wanted to buy it, but I would not recommend. This is one you may want to read while you are in a waiting room for a doctor’s appointment or waiting for a movie to start. There is nothing really to gain from this ‘book’.

#single is not recommended.

Thank you to Pantera Press and Lost the Plot for granting me a review copy via NetGalley. I wish I could have given a positive review.

First, I want to thank Lost the Plot, Pantera Press and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

Being single is hard enough let alone this day in age with modern technology. Ever rolled your eyes at a bad text you got from a guy/girl? Well then you need to read this book!! #Single by Lost the Plot Dating in the 21st Century Based on the Popular Blog TinderTuesday is just the book for you! This book will have you rolling on the floor laughing your booty off thinking did they really text that?! You will now understand why some people are still single!!

Lost the Plot set this book to look like a long text from different people and she categorized them too. It may be a short read but it is packed with comedy!! One tip don’t voice text when having road rage and trying to send a sweet text message to your honey!! It wont come out well for you!!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book is such an extremely short read, I'm not sure there's much to say or review. I'd expected a short memoir-type / novella of dating stories and experiences. But this book is actually just screenshots and snippets of real-life Tinder conversations.

Besides a couple of conversations that stood out, most of the book was bland and uninteresting; nothing I haven't seen or heard about before. There aren't any anecdotes, storytelling, narration or a personal touch, which made it a rather ordinary 10-minute read.

The book's format and layout wasn't Kindle-friendly either. Extremely light ink, repeated and redundant headers, confusing line breaks etc.

Very forgettable and entire skippable. I've read similar books that are much funnier and interesting.

#single: DATING IN THE 21st CENTURY
Written by Lost the Plot
2018; Pantera Press/Lost the Plot (17o pages)
Genre: nonfiction, dating

(Review Not on Blog)

RATING: 1 STAR

This book is based on a blog called Tinder Tuesday, but I did not know that until I got to the last page of the eArc (advanced reader copy). While this book has 170 pages it is full of short texts/messages. It took me 10 minutes to read. There were one or two funny texts but most were just meh. Maybe I have just seen worse on Tinder, but I don't think this book adds to anything on dating you can't just get from Tinder Nightmares on Instagram.

Quite entertaining! #Single is a quick and funny read. You don't even have to have any Tinder experiences to get the jokes. Some were quite cringey, too.

Only thing is I don't know if they're real messages or if this was a social experiment. I've never heard of TinderTuesday and it looks like the site is nonexistent now. That doesn't look speak well for publicity/reader trust.

I received a free copy of this book, with thanks to Pantera Press and NetGalley, in return for an honest review.

When I saw the description for this, I wasn't really sure what it was... a novel, a self help book? It turned out to be actual text messages from people on dating apps. It was really entertaining and made me so glad I've been happily married for 30+ years and don't have to deal with what are apparently a lot of idiots out in the dating world. My only complaint is that it was so short - took me only about 10-15 minutes to read. If you're looking for a quick, fun read, then this is.

Hilarious, quick read. Finished it over lunch.
Though I’ve been married since before dating apps became popular I still love reading these types of conversations on blogs, such as tinder Tuesday, where these were collected from.

This book was ok. It had some funny conversations, however, I have seen many funnier conversations across the internet. I would have suggested for this book to be published as a coffee table style book, using screenshots of each conversation, for the purpose of more visual appeal.

If you have ever online dated, then this book will appeal to you. You know how sometimes you think, "this is only happening to me?" Well, #Single is here to offer some laughs in seeing that you're not the only one navigating dating in the internet world. First free book I got from netgalley.com. The book had its moments where I laughed out loud, but i dont think I'd recommend anyone buy it. It's kind of the book you read at Barnes and Noble at the mall when you're waiting on your movie to start. People who frequently online date would appreciate.

Definitely a book that will make anyone who has ever tried online dating laugh. The exchanges are, at times, cringe-worthy, but definitely relatable for modern daters.

There's no way for you to read this and not relate to at least some of these conversations.

This book has its moments but overall I didn’t find this super funny. It’s a collection of texts/messages that people have experienced through online dating. It also didn’t transfer well to the kindle version so it was pretty difficult to read.

Not great. A kind of sub buzzfeed mishmash of cobbled together text exchanges. I’ve seen funnier on Twitter.

This is literally just a collection of dating conversations that you can find all over social media. Some of it was entertaining, most of it was just eh. Funny for the half an hour it took to read but pretty forgettable after that.

This short book is a collection of humorous dating texts. I thought there would be a backstory, or that there would be some connection between the texts, but instead they were just random.
