A horse is a horse, right? Of course not. Just when Noelle thinks she has her ducks in a row, a woman brings her horse to Flynn Farm for boarding. At first, everything is just peachy keen: the woman is wonderful and the horse is mannerly and full of personality. Then, par for the course and much to Noe's chagrin, things start to go sideways. Mysterious men start showing up in town looking for a woman matching the boarder's description, trinkets start missing from her shop, and someone close to her gets some shocking news.
Is it going to be murder and mayhem in Keyhole Lake again, or is Noelle finally going to enjoy some R&R? It's likely a safe bet to put your money on the mayhem.
I was born and raised in the South and even hung my motorcycle helmet in Colorado for a few months. I've always had a touch of wanderlust and have never feared just packing up and going on new adventures, whether in real life or via the pages of a great book.
When I was a little girl, I didn't want to grow up to be a writer—I wanted to raise unicorns and be a superhero. When those gigs fell through, I chose the next best thing: creating my own magical lands filled with adventure, magic, humor, and romance.
I live in Florida with my two dogs and when I'm not writing or reading, I'm racing motorcycles with my taller, more handsome half, hanging out at the beach, or binge-watching anything magical on Netflix.
I'm eternally grateful for all the people who help make my life what is today - friends, readers, family. No woman is an island.

Another cute cozy paranormal mystery in Ms. Maher's Witches of Keyhole Lake series. I really am enjoying getting to know the characters and this mystery was quite complex. On to the next one in the series.
. I enjoy the humor, the shenanigans, and the quirky characters in this series. Ghosts are an intricate part of the community in this book and more 'living impaired citizens' (ghosts) are revealed in this book. This mystery based on an unknown magical influence was not as interesting or intriguing as the first two books in this series, at least through my eyes.
Although, I'm still looking forward to reading the rest of the series to get to know the lovable characters better and to discover what happens with this eclectic group. Strange paranormal happenings boggle your mind.
This is a clean read that is able to stand on its own. However, it most definitely makes more sense if you read the entire series in the order they were written.
This book concludes with an H.E.A., but the next book in the series is sure to include another murder mystery that needs to be solved.
These books are not in order, there was the Christmas one before this I didn't know about! Now I have to back track my reading before going any further plus the Halloween and Valentine's shorts. Also please stop writing her back story every time your write a new one. It makes no sense not to read the series out of order you must start with book one.
The mystery was interesting. I got a bit confused with all the doppelgangers. I'm curious to see if the author does anything more with what happened with Bobby Sue.
The characters in this book are great. I love Noelle's family and her sister is a total bad ass. I was a little surprised though at how powerless Noelle seemed to be in this book. In one of the crossovers into another series, Noelle is shown as the MOST POWERFUL WITCH EVAHS! So to see her like this in this book was strange.
Now for the reason I gave this book a 4-star rating instead of a 5.
I'm still annoyed at the way the author feels the need to include a foreword. For somebody who claims to be "born and raised in the South", she sure has a narrow minded view of Southerners. No, people who speak that way are not "uneducated". No matter what she claims in the foreword.
Also, not all Southern Sheriffs are crooked! Come on now, she's used this plot point twice now. Let it go.
I was a little disappointed over who she paired Matt off with, I wanted him with Rae. I'm hoping that means she's got somebody special for Rae or perhaps Rae has her own series coming up?
I rarely leave reviews even though I read several books a week. I have so thoroughly enjoyed this series, I had to give Tagan a shoutout for her humor and characters. This is a perfect blend of paranormal quirks, characters, both living and deceased, that invite you to hang out, with a little “who done it” in the background. I’m dying to try the pastries and coffee at Rae’s, and the barbecue at Bobbie’s place. I have up to 5 reads going at any given time from research, to politics to fun. This is the kind of book you go to when you just need to escape and giggle a little. Maybe this style of writing won’t win literary awards, but keep ‘em coming because they are just as important to those of us looking for a world of comfort (even if there is a little murder, too.)
I just love this world that author Tegan Maher has created; there's both depth and logic to it. Noelle and her friends are really more of an extended family with all the positive AND negative that entails. This includes the ghostly community, who have their own rules for conduct and are welcoming to new members who will be assets; it's fun to see that "ghosting" has to be taught! The mystery is layered and uncovers more than just multiple potential motives and suspects; the guilty and the motive are quite the surprise! It appears that there will be three new additions to the fold, one of which Noelle is distinctly dubious about! The love and respect between the living and the living-impaired as well as the humor throughout are a large part of what makes this such a delightful series!
If you have followed its series from the beginning you will be well use to the goings on in Keyhole Lake. Noelle and Hunter are very much a couple now, Shelby has more control over her magic , Justin is firmly ensconced as one of the family. Darwin and Annie Maes businesses are doing well and Matt may have a girlfriend. So it's a bit of a shock for Noelle to go to the stables one morning to find a stranger dead with his face planted in some horse manure. Noelle has no clue who the man is but one of her boarders recognises him. So begins the fourth book in a very enjoyable series written with humour and some very likeable characters.
This is an absolutely enjoyable continuation of a delightful series.
The shenanigans among the residents (living and living-impaired) of Keyhole Lake continue apace. The character developments are delightful. The new characters (some of whom will likely be continuing) are interesting.
And, of course, as always, it starts with a murder.
I found a few plot convolutions perhaps not well thought-out. For one thing, a witch's farm should have some more-functional wards. In a number of the books now, people intent on murder just wander in. And in the last peril sequence (there always is a peril sequence near the end, right?) the motivation of the villains to keep them alive at all seems a bit missing.
But the book is delightful. The series is delightful. I will certainly keep reading.
I really enjoy this series! The books are well-written, always humorous with a great cast of likeable characters - even the magical element seems natural in the storyline. In this one, I liked the background detail about horses (thus the horse in the cover art) - I forget that Noelle and Shelby live on a farm and board horses for others, so this aspect was interesting for me to read about since I don't know a thing about horses. The cast of characters in this series always have each other's backs and Nicole is getting to be quite an investigator - unfortunately, it doesn't always keep her out of danger. I am anxiously awaiting the next in the series.
Noelle and her friend, Gabi, get back from estate sales and start letting the horses into the barn to feed. Mayhem gets to his stall and starts acting up and won't go in. The girls look in his stall and there's a dead guy face-down in a pile of poo! After calming Gabi down, Noe calls her boyfriend, the sheriff. Max, the talking donkey, has some information, but how do you use info from a talking donkey? The sheriff in the next town over holds a grudge against Gabi and she ends up being the number one suspect...
I highly recommend Mayhem and Murder. The storyline and characters are awesome. This is my favorite type of cozy with laughter and good times along with the bad.
A fun and extremely entertaining southern witchy urban fantasy/cozy mystery series
It’s a cozy mystery/urban fantasy. It is which he in nature. It is based in southern Georgia town where everyone knows everyone and yet there are ghosts or the living challenge that hang around sometimes and there are witches and mostly normal humans that live there. Yet they all seem to get along and some of them even like each other. Follow along with this great cast of characters as they solve mysteries murders in May him. Strong female lead characters quirky ghosts and just downright hospital southern towns hawk. Where everybody knows your name and your business
Enjoyable series that's a quick and easy read. I enjoy the characters and the fact that the fmc doesn't run around trying to prove how independent and stupid she is. New characters come in just about every book and seem to be strong secondary placement in the storyline. You'll also see a leveling up for Shelby - more to come on that I'm certain.
I continue to feel like I should be reading at least one if not 2 other series to understand what is going on with some of the other characters. I've looked at this author's other books and can't figure out the crossovers. Anyone know what other series Camile might be in?
I love these books ! I love a good crime / murder but they're usually quite gritty, this series is easy to read and full of fun. Murder, crime, magic, ghosts, food, recycling, romance, family it's like sitting down with a friend. I'm from the north-easy UK but the phrases Tegan uses are ones that my family and I use and it's somehow comforting. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of excitement in them too, real fast-food reading.
There's nothing I don't like about these books and once I've caught up with this series I fully intend to read Ms Maher's other ones.
This is such a fun series. Noelle is a witch, as is her sister, her cousin, and several friends, some of whom are "living impaired. " (Just another way of saying that they're ghosts). They work hard, have fun together, get in binds at times, and solve murders and other mysteries. Her boyfriend is the sheriff, Hunter, who takes all the paranormal stuff in stride, seeing that he's just a normal human. The stories are fun and fast paced. I strongly recommend the series, but read the books in order. It will all make better sense!
Another visit to Keyhole Lake means you are going to get a visit with Noelle, Shelby, Rae, and the rest of the gang. Noelle had a friend that is keeping her horse at her farm. When the friend and Noelle try to put her horse in his stall they find the dead body of the horse’s previous own dead in said stall. Now why was he there and who killed him? Need to read to find out the answers and to find out why there are look alike as out there.
The murder mystery is always well written in this series. There's no way to figure it out. The characters are full of personality and provide a lot of entertainment. Noelle is the kind of who tries to find good in people when possible. Hunter is nice but I'd like to are his character develop more. Shelby is proving to be a kick but witch.
This series is the perfect way to kick back and relax. Great characters and great storylines make it a pleasure to read. However, in order to fully enjoy each book I suggest reading the series in order. The stories build, each book a continuation of the characters lives. Have some sweet tea and dive into a murder mystery with a paranormal twist.
Recently discovered Tegan and I'm so glad I did. Love this series but oh what a dilemma - do I go slow and savour them or read back to back cos I can't wait to read the next book ....and now onto book 5. Great characters, love the humour and storylines. Just be warned!!!!! You won't want to put it down. Thanks Tegan. Keep writing.
I liked this one. It introduced a new ghost, a new relative, a new friend, and a new romance for a friend. Murder is solved, mystery is solved, all gets righted while providing a very entertaining story. Now for book 5.
Once again Noelle finds a dead body and this one is face down in horse manure in one of the stalls of the barn on her farm, find out if Noelle, Hunter and the rest can solve this murder before anyone else gets hurt .
Again a really good, entertaining and funny episode of life (and afterlife) at Keyhole Lake. Noelle and her real and ghostly friends have a way of making me smile or laugh outright every time. The suspense always is good, too. A lovely and my favourite series.
I have read several of the books in this series. It has strong and well developed characters that you will fall in love with and root for throughout the books. The stories flow and are engaging, before you know it your at the end. Great Reading Everyone!
Gabi, a friend of the family, has come to live at the farm. She recently inherited a horse and all it's equipment. There was a letter telling about a key that leads to a priceless treasure. Other people have found the letter and are willing to kill to find the treasure.
Another fun story from the Witches of Keyhole Lake. So many fun things happening in one story. The author has a great sense of humor and the story moves along quickly. I am enjoying the characters and look forward to the next book in the series.
When Noelle finds a dead body in her barn face down, things get interesting. Nobody knows who he is except grace admits to knowing him. Noelle is doing amazing things with old furniture, and while hunting different places, she was able to help in a different way.
Fun and sweet hometown murder mystery, I have to admit this one even made me think, I'm pretty good at guessing the end half way through in most mysteries but I only had about 90% of it worked out before the end so I was impressed.
Yet another murder in Keyhole Lake. Noelle along with her sheriff boyfriend and some other friends try to solve a murder. Lots of twists and turns, magic and people seeing double make up this story. Another really goood read from Tegan Maher.
What a well written story it's delving more In to the characters of the book and I love seeing them grow and develop and I love how Shelby has grown up better
