Ciarah O’Rourke was born into torture.
A human spirit reincarnated in the body of an ancient fae goddess, she’s spent the last five years in iron shackles, her mind poisoned with magic for secrets she doesn’t know.

Waking up in a dirty alley with no memory of her escape, Ciarah finds herself in the hands of The Wild Hunt Motorcycle Club--a ruthless and violent group of bikers with faerie blood in their veins.

Arlo. Reece. Killian.
Three men drenched in death, sin, and old magic.
From their clubhouse in the middle of the Louisiana bayou, they’ll offer Ciarah the keys to unlock her memories and control the veil between worlds. But even her knights can’t erase the twisted scars that remind her they aren’t the only ones who hunt.

When The Wild Hunt rides, the souls of the dead join their parade.
All that’s missing now is their queen.

DARK GLITTER is the first of three books in THE WILD HUNT MOTORCYCLE CLUB series, a full-length reverse harem novel with dark faeries, werewolves, goddesses, voodoo magic, steamy scenes, graphic violence, cursing, and a supernatural motorcycle club.

C.M. Stunich is a self-admitted bibliophile with a love for exotic teas and a whole host of characters who live full time inside the strange, swirling vortex of her thoughts. Some folks might call this crazy, but Caitlin Morgan doesn't mind - especially considering she has to write biographies in the third person. Oh, and half the host of characters in her head are searing hot bad boys with dirty mouths and skillful hands (among other things). If being crazy means hanging out with them everyday, C.M. has decided to have herself committed.

She hates tapioca pudding, loves to binge on cheesy horror movies, and is a slave to many cats. When she's not vacuuming fur off of her couch, C.M. can be found with her nose buried in a book or her eyes glued to a computer screen. She's the author of over thirty novels - romance, new adult, fantasy, and young adult included. Please, come and join her inside her crazy. There's a heck of a lot to do there.

Oh, and Caitlin loves to chat (incessantly), so feel free to e-mail her, send her a Facebook message, or put up smoke signals. She's already looking forward to it.

New-to-me authors and a new-to-me sub-sub-subgenre. No one can say that I’m not trying new things for 2018! While I didn’t immediately fall in love with this story, mostly because it tested my personal boundaries, there was plenty to love about this book.

Ciarah O’Rourke wakes up in an alley with no memory of who she is, much less how she got there. Bits and flashes reveal torture and pain and little else. Through a strange sequence of events, she meets the very people she was meant to be with and figures out she is meant for great things. She’s the Veil Keeper and everyone has been waiting a long time for her. Her memories are coming back slowly but they need to hurry up so that she can fulfill her destiny.

Gods, Goddesses, rougaroux, werewolves, sprites, seers, witches, etc. There were many characters and they all played an integral part to the story. Ciarah was a goddess herself and the members of the Wild Hunt Motorcycle Club were her army. Then there was the an animalistic, almost feral theme to these characters. Like there were pheromones constantly floating in the air. These people couldn’t keep their hands to themselves and there didn’t seem to be any discretion. Every interaction, conversation, and scene had a sexual undertone. It made for some pretty hot and steamy times!

As for the characters themselves, the authors did a good job of offering some depth to them. I wanted to know more but I think that the ‘more’ that I want might be revealed as the series develops. I’m sure there’s more to the backgrounds of Arlo, Reece and Killian, as well as the other members of the club, not to mention the werewolves and the motives of each. And with the way this book ended, I know that the next one is going to be explosive.

I don't even know how far I got but I am so sick to death of books with insta-love.

Look, I get that this is a reverse harem. I understand that multiple people are going to fall in love with the same person. That's the point. What is not the point is the idea that this one woman is irresistible to every male she comes across and they instantly start falling all over themselves for her. There's no "getting to know you" phase. There's no mutual respect.

It's about lust and instant love just add sex and I am just not on board for that.

It's no Kit Davenport.

- the guys are no Austin nor Cole
- it has less spunk
- it's super dark
- and full of violence
- the french is fucking weird
- reece speaking is hard to understand
- the wild hunt rides on motorcycles
- lots of sex
- a little swim in the bayou
- being fae is the new cool
- and ciarah is goals.

She's the queen, she's a goddess.
She makes the rules and she's the fucking dominant one. She doesn't take orders and she definitely doesn't let her lovers boss her around.

And that's awesome. She's not submissive even one bit, she's so strong yet vulnerable and i'm kissing the ground she walks on.

TW: blood, violence, sex, swearing, dark stuff and all kind of torture.

1,75 stars. Reverse harem story that would have needed A LOT more editing and working over.

There was an interesting premise and a few ideas I really like, all the more disappointing that it was written so badly. I read a book by Stunich before and can‘t remember it bing that bad.

As others stated in their reviews - the accents and French were really idiotic. It felt weird and not natural at all and overall disrupted the reading flow way too often.

The characters were alle rather unlikeable and not built well enough, especially the h, which would have made the most interesting one. She could have been a really cool badass bitch, but simply felt totally off and not in a „good“ she represents her tortured past way.

The sex wasn‘t sexy at all to me - not to mention that the relationship to the h was seriously unhealthy for all participants.

I ... no. Just no. Could have been good - wasn‘t.

DNF for now. This is the first book by Tate and C.M. that I am just not feeling. Maybe I’m just not in the mood for a Fae book right now. Maybe I’ll give it another try later. Also this totally reminds me of Melissa Marr’s Fae books just an adult version.

The actual premise of the tale here was pretty good, however, the entire book was fractured by the injection of hot and steamy sex about every 10 pages and frankly this was enough to make the book boring enough that it joined my DNF shelf. Not enough glitter and too little substance.

I don't know what to think about this book. It was different, the concept was really interesting, but it was so very confusing. I feel like I have barely a clue of what actually happened. In fact, I'm not even going to try to explain what I do know and what I don't. I'm just gonna leave a few quotes I liked, because I really don't know what to say about this story.

"So, Veil Keeper, how are you faring?" she asked me, her voice tinted with a hint of a Cajun accent, but more like she'd absorbed it from living here for so long rather than being born here. I just looked at her, but I didn't know how to answer. I could talk now, but so many years of not talking seemed to male natural conversation slightly more difficult.
How was I faring?
I didn't know.
So far, I'd slept with two men, tore a man's soul to shreds, and grown wings.
Was that a sign I was doing well?

~

"Is it always like that? Your magic?" I asked, realizing he'd ended up kissing me after healing my wounds, too. "I don't remember seeing you kiss Arlo after healing him?"
A broad, somewhat wicked grin split Killian's face and his tongue ran over his lower lip, like he was savoring the taste of me.
"Why, would you have liked to?" he teased and my mind went to dirty places.
"Mo Dhia, Ciarah he is taking liberties. His magic don' require dat, his cock does." Reece snorted a laugh and even Arlo snickered.
My gaze dropped down, peering at the appendage in question and I shrugged. "Good."

~

"First time I ever see you introduce a girl to your mama, you," Reece chuckled as I swung myself off my bike and glanced over to see Killian helping Ciarah off of his. Behind us, Caley's rusty shit bucket of a car pulled up with a screech of old brakes, and I heard her car door slam as she got out.
"Yeah, well," I heaved a sigh, glancing up at the old plantation style house apprehensively. "First time I ever pledged my soul to a girl for all-time too, so…" I shrugged, trailing off as I scratched my chin.
"I hear dat," Reece agreed with a wry grin. "Still funny, d'ough."

~

By the time we got back to the living room, everyone was staring at us and it was fairly fucking obvious that we'd been…well, fucking.
"Jesus H.," Arlo's mama said with a long sigh, looking up at the two of us like we were crazy. "To be young and stupid again."
"I am older than the universe in which you sit," my voice said automatically, almost without my permission.
"Maybe," the blonde said, glancing over her shoulder at me. "but the girl in those eyes is young, dumb, and crazy. You watch yourself with these fae, little girl, because they'll as soon break you as they will take care of you. Life in a motorcycle club is a double-edged sword-the finest protection…at the highest price. Fail to pay, and watch it all fall apart."

Barf. The misogyny runs thick in this one and the ridiculous accents are SO CONTRIVED.

I was all, “omg, fae MC club? Genius!”

Then I was all, “omg, why is this so bad?”

Then I laughed a lot at the accents for a while. And was grossed out by how awful everybody was.

I feel positive I’ve read good books by both these authors so I’m gonna go ahead and reevaluate those to see if I was crazy to like them because #confused.

DNF 28%.

This book was a fabulous read. Dark, gritty, unapologetic and absolutely unrelenting. I loved every damn second of it. Let’s see. Middle of the Bayou, Louisiana. Dark faeries, werewolves, rougarous, goddesses, seers, harpies, marshmallow-eater alligators, voodoo magic, and a supernatural 1%er motorcycle club and huge Cajun bikers with damn magic in their fingers. Welcome to The Wild Hunt!

« Rebirth is never easy. Why do you think most souls choose to forget who they once were? »

The Gardienne du Voile/Veil Keeper is finally back in New Orleans but she has awful memories and the poison of torture still clogging her brain. She has responsibilities she never asked for and duties she never needed. Like finding Papa Cocodril, a fae-blooded voodoo priest in an enormous gator’s form, somewhere in the apex of the Bayou, and convincing him to hand over the key to her memories. Or, to part of them anyway…

« Seems like an easy fucking coincidence. After more than a century of looking for her ass, she just drops out of the sky like it's no big thing? I call bullshit. »

Enjoy the ride, it's most definitely worth it!

The story revolves around Ciarah who wakes up to find her memories at a lost and powerful powers flowing under her skin. Soon enough she finds herself among members of The Wild Hunt—a motorcycle gang of faeries—and a revelation of her being a goddess follows closely. The premise seemed interesting which is why I picked it up and even though I’m well aware of this being the first part of a series, I felt it a bit incomplete and left me a little unsatisfied (no pun intended).

Since good should be appreciated over bad, let’s start with the things I liked. There are some diverse paranormal creatures which heighten up the world more. From faeries to werewolves, all the beings are well used in the story. Ciarah as a female protagonist was likeable for me most of the times—except for those few times when she became too dominant, though her goddess status might justify that—with the way she didn’t take shit from anybody and the reverse harem aspect sets well with her character. The writing was impressive, I would say. It didn’t go over-the-top with descriptions nor did it fell completely flat but as a whole, it was fun to read. The ending was a cliff hanger and I’m a sucker for those because it’s almost inevitable for me to not pick up the next book in series now.

Speaking of other characters, particularly those who were a part of this reverse harem (because others weren’t that well developed though I’ll be giving this aspect a benefit of doubt, too, because it’s just the start to the series) the three guys were all different from each other. I think I even decoded the trick behind it—three different personalities in the male protagonists would win every reader’s heart because you’ll definitely end up liking at least one of them. I would say it was smart because I did like Killian for the sweet and caring person that he was. He was hot and stuff but his thoughts were more maturely put forward and his selfless attitude won my heart.

Reece on the other hand was a bit hard to understand because (I have no idea why) his perspective was written in a French accent. Yup, ‘written’ in a French accent and it just pulled me out of his mind most of the times. Though, I would rank him second since he was that cute jerk that you don’t like but you actually like them a little. Third was Arlo who I would rank third because he was an alpha male. Do I have to say more? For those who know me, hot male alphas are my pet peeve and that kinda spoiled the one-third part of this harem.

Also, just a little heads up but you might want to consider this a huge warning: there are a lot of sex scenes. And yeah, by a lot I mean after every twenty or so pages. I don’t mind eroticas but I often realise how forced the addition of too many sex scenes seem to be in this sub genre. I feel like there’s this untold pressure of giving as many ‘satisfying’ moments as possible and that sometimes steeply drifts a reader away from the plot or story. Same happened here; while the sex scenes were fine with a few that were good enough, many a times they felt unneeded. However, an opinion on this largely differs from person to person so I would best leave it for yourself to decide.

Overall, this was a pretty good read and I liked it for the adventurous sequences and paranormality. Oh, and Killian.

Fucking. Goddamn. Faerie. And it ain't as nice as any of that shit on TV or in books and movies. No, the fae were dark and they were fucked and they were as awful as the lowest bottom dwelling scum humanity could dredge up. Hell, they were worse sometimes. A lot of the time.

I feel like my review is going to be all over the place because that's how I feel when I try to get thoughts together. So I'm going to do a bullet journal type of review on this. Get ready for a lot of incoherent thoughts!

Characters
-Ciarah is a goddess! I mean, I know she's an actual goddess, but you know know what I mean. She was not taking any less than she deserved and I loved that about her.
-We have three fae bikers as the love interests. (so if I say that they are sweet...please take that with a grain of salt, because they are still bikers)
-Arlo- I don't really know what to think about him. Normally his alpha maleness would draw me to him, but he wasn't one of my favorites. Maybe he just has to grow on me.
-Reese- my cajun little love bug. He was walking dream.
-Killiam- loved him! He was sweet and selfless.
-Everyone else was okay supporting characters but none that really stood out for me besides the main four.

Plot
I was the Veil Keeper; I could feel it in my bones. But … how did I keep this Veil? What was it? Where was it? Or was it a who? I didn’t even know that fucking much.

-These questions were what I was asking myself a lot. I was quite fuzzy on what was a veil. Does the old veil and new become one? Was Ciarah tortured or was it the old veil keeper? As you can see, I'm a mess.
-I liked that we got more paranormal species involved in the story. I feel like the werewolves are going to get a bigger role in the next book.
-She doesn't have any of her old memories back, and I'm going to need her to hurry up.
-This doesn't have anything to do with the plot just kind of like a heads up; There is A LOT of sex in this book. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Everything Else
I'm going to continue with Cruel Glamour when it comes out in April. I hope that it will clear up some questions for me because I felt like I was just getting into the story when it ended. By the way, it ends in a cliffhanger. Don't you just love those?

First of all, I really like these two authors. I enjoy them separately and I think I enjoyed them together, but there's a giant part of me that is incredibly unsure how I feel about that.

This book might have been 3.5 or 4 stars IF it had been set anywhere but Louisiana. I lived there too long and talk to too many people on a daily basis to be able to read something supposed to be set in that area that doesn't FEEL like Louisiana.

Louisiana is a crazy and amazing place. Besides one of the guys having a gator for a pet and an air boat (seriously why do they have an air boat, it should be a duck boat or mud boat or something), there wasn't a whole lot that was actually Louisiana. The accents were forced and inconsistent and I kept reading because of the fae part, not because of anything else. I think if it had been set anywhere else, if Louisiana didn't have the most distinctive feel, it wouldn't have been as distracting and detracting.

The fae aspect of the story was fun, a little different with the different take on things and while I want to know where the story goes from here, I'm not sure I can handle the accents to continue.

Ciarah O’Rourke came back to life in a dirty alley, bloody, bruised, and broken. She held no memories, only confusion, the feeling of torture, and fear. Due to the kindness of a waitress Ciarah soon finds herself with the Wild Hunt Motorcycle Club in the middle of the Louisiana bayou with a rough group of fae. Ciarah may not have her memories but it doesn't take long for the men to figure out who she is, Le Gardien du Voile, the Veil Keeper. They have waited for her return for over 100 years and now they want her to lead the hunt and fix the veil. Much to ask for a girl of 19. But this is no ordinary girl. Her soul is in the body of an eternal goddess. Somewhere buried within her is the knowledge needed to save the world of the fae. She will have to come to terms with her pain, claim her Lords, recover her memories, and merge her soul with the goddess's, and possibly have to win a showdown with the old-timers at the club in order to do this. Good thing that she's a survivor. She didn't give up before. She's not back to fail now. The Queen has returned. Let the Wild Hunt ride!

Dark Glitter is a brilliant collaboration between Tate James and CM Stunich. It's a modern-day spin on the European mythology of the Wild Hunt with fae history and it's inspired. Every bit of this book is well thought out. The Louisiana bayou has a sultry, wild decadence that exists nowhere else. It's captured perfectly and serves as an ideal setting. The story is compelling. The characters are incomparable. Ciarah is a blend of innocence with her amnesia and youth and the power and innate knowledge of the goddess. Her duality makes the character fascinating. More than a woman, more than a goddess. Her pain was palpable at times making it hard for me to breath. Then she would find her strength as a woman, demand that the men respect her, and take what she wanted. I love that she refuses to settle. She's ready for battle and making her own rules. The Lords are almost as complex. Reece, the sex god with his innate understanding and love for females; Arlo, the horned god with his harsh pride; and Killian with his complicated past relationship with the werewolf alpha (can't wait to explore that). These are hard men with their own magic. The werewolves, Raphael and Amelie, are both important and I look forward to having them even more involved. The cast of side characters from the Swamp Witch and Papa Cocodril to the Seer and Sage add such flavor. This crazy assortment of characters comes together like a spicy bowl of gumbo and offers its own brand of pleasure.

The book has plenty of world-building, storytelling, and action. The stage is set. Then the ending... It's a cliffhanger but placed so that one question is answered before the next one is asked. Hard to say where it goes from here or what happens next. You can be certain that it will be quite the ride!

DNF. I love both these authors but the accents French/ Cajun/ Irish mix plus the fey words were just too distracting for me. I spent more time pondering how to pronounce French/ Gaelic?? than enjoying the story.

Merged review:

DNF Hmmm I wrote a review on this already. It seems to have disappeared??? Anyway I couldn’t deal with the accents and the almost instant shagging just felt off. I’ve read loads of RH books and I HATE not finishing a book. I even pre- ordered this baby and was exited to read what these two authors could come up with... I was a bit gutted. Each to their own. I’ve read books by both authors and thoroughly enjoyed them but I’m becoming more of a Tate James fan because that is one strong series and every book just keeps me hooked. So sorry to say this but I think this book sucked. Big time.

The only reason why I am rating this book so low is because of the butchering of the French language that occurred in it. Plus, if one of your characters is a foreigner and you don't know how to speak that language, don't Google translate words you think might look sexy. I'm not even French I was cringing every time someone spoke it.
The story was entertaining on its own, I liked the romantic interests, the heroine, not so much. But the FRENCH! It really ruined it. I recommend a better research next time. Because every time someone spoke French, and that was basically on every single dialogue, I couldn't take anything seriously.

Tantalizingly unique

When I started the book I realized it really hard to understand one of the main characters . But once I drove father in to the book and really heard him speaking in my mind the book flowed smoothly.

I would totally recommend this book to some one who loves strong willed women and some wildly attractive biker men with just a touch of magic.

http://bookaddict.live,
I do love a good paranormal, and this is a great paranormal. This is an adult paranormal, so we have hot sexy hunks. Our heroine Ciarah is found in an alley badly beaten and with signs of torture. Also no memory of how she came to be where she is? Or who she is?
As this a first book in a series it takes time to learn all the players, and background. We meet The Wild Hunt Motorcycle MC who rescue Ciarah, and realise she is the new incarnation of The Veil Keeper. There plenty of action in out of bedroom, or I should say not necessarily in a bedroom. This is book one of a three book series. Book two is up for preorder and I can’t wait. I have read Tate James before and enjoyed her books. This is an epic partnership, and I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and if you enjoy an adult paranormal with plenty of sexy hunks as this is the of a reverse harem book.

Kindle Unlimited.

This was interesting. I don’t think the Intro blurb gives it enough credit. It’s a dark RH about a biker gang, but the biker gang is an evolution of the fae Wild Hunt. Their goddess has been missing for a century and the veil has locked them in the mortal plain. They’ve evolved into this to survive the mortal world. Ciarah (Keerah) stumbles into their lives with a fraction of her memories, and something trying to recapture her. So yeah, the concept was interesting. I wish there was a book two.

Title: Dark Glitter
Series: Wild Hunt Motorcycle Club, #1
Author: C.M. Stunich
Rating: 2.75 Stars
Cliffhanger:
“The Wild Hunt rides. We ride. And the souls of the dead join our parade.”

*Slight spoilers.*

This one's going to be a bit of a ramble as I'm still sorting out how I feel about this book.

First off, I did like the heroine and it would be so easy to just say that and be done with it, however, it's an honest review and as much as I like strong females leads with a backbone and who can't be bossed around, all of which Ciarah was, I also know that if the roles would be reversed and she were a guy, I'd have hated if he'd have treated her love interest the way Ciarah treated the guys, or more specifically, Arlo. Even though he did act like an asshole, she used her power as a Veil Keeper and almost made him leave the club just because he was bitching about being her Lord.
“Becoming the Veil Keeper, it seems like it should arrive with pomp and circumstance.
Sometimes... it's just a gasp and a scream.”

As for the guys, they were interesting enough. I liked Arlo's temper, he brought something new to the table as the other two were obedient enough to the goddess. Killian's character was easy to love due to his selflessness and a natural need to heal and protect others. Reece was different for me, though. I found his manner of speech and how he referred to himself in the third person to be fairly weird...
“Nah, I'm old enough fer a bit more self-control than dat. Old Reece jus' did what was needed for da magic-nothin' more, nothin' less.”

...but that wasn't an overly big issue for me.

I also didn't exactly feel happy when the heroine's first thoughts, after being tortured and abused for so long, were how hot the men (Arlo, Reece, Killian) were when she first saw them one by one. It wasn't exactly insta-love thank heavens, but more like instant attraction that hit her hard.
“Life in a motorcycle club is a double-edged sword - the finest protection... at the highest price. Fail to pay, and watch it all fall apart.”

I did like the dual personalities living in one body, Ciarah and the Veil Keeper, balancing each other out. It was quite interesting to read about, but I did find more things I disliked about this book than liked and so I'm not yet sure whether I'll be picking up Cruel Glamour. I'm really just interested in seeing how things will turn out with Raphael, so that might be the deciding factor.

It was one hell of a ride. Why did it take me so long to pick this one up? It left me feeling bewildered, intrigued and desperate for more. I guess that's the reason I waited so long to pick it up - I knew I'll need the next one right away and I'm not good with waiting and guessing.
That take on a Wild Hunt was something I absolutely did not expect, but definitely appreciated. I love reading about the fae and every new twist is always rated highly by me. I wish we had been introduced to all the members of the MC and at the very least learned their names, because I've got the feeling that some of them (presumably the senior members) might become a problem in the future. I don't think they've got the memo yet that they are not in charge anymore. This is gonna be interesting.
I loved the main heroine and the air of mystery and darkness that surrounded her from the very beginning. Every new piece of the puzzle that is her life has been more and more disturbing, but at the same time kind of compelling. Trying to keep up with her split-personality situation was a mind trip all on its own, but I enjoyed every second of it.
I believe C. M. Stunich and Tate James has done a great job with this book and I cannot wait to see where they take the story next.

Amazing

I love when this duo get together and write!! This was a amazing book. The plot itself was so intricate and complex you get hooked.

"I’m the goddess and I’ll have my males as I please.”

"Thank the Veil one of these stupid fae men respected my power."

Ciarah was a little vindictive and rude (Because she suppose to be a strong heroine I guess?) but I did enjoy Arlo fighting his attraction for her.

Either way, I think the story was pretty good. I liked it.

Yeah....No! I tried even made it to chapter 13 actually. Was promptly disappointed, it started off with such a good flow, I was like omg yes finally I found a good RH book, but then this girl starts throwing mofos against the wall like a got-damn dominatrix... they're supposed to be her lovers. The author was pushing the girl power way too far she's practically forcing her way into one of their pants "I will have any man I want"...really! the men are no better, any chance one of them gets its b**tch this. Honestly hurts my soul cause I really thought it was going in a good direction and it just wasn't and I'm too old/young to be forcing my way through books I don't have to read. On to the hunt again...for a book

This book was great, gripping but not an easy read. There were lots of elements and characters that had questions hanging over them for much of the story. Plenty of action and sex to enjoy. Have zero idea where this story is heading but I look forward to finding out.

I found the story to be a bit confusing. The way some of the characters spoke (their accents) made it difficult for me to understand what they were saying.
