Cursed by the gods. Bound by brotherhood. Freed by love.

The Warriors of the Mist have fought side by side for centuries, but Kane alone has felt something darker calling to him. With the Kingdom of Agathia on the brink of rebellion, Kane knows that relying on dark magic to infiltrate the enemy's court is dangerous but necessary despite the cost to his soul.

Lady Theda hopes to end the tyrannical reign of Duke Keirthan, the man who killed his own brother—Theda's husband. But she has little hope of succeeding, until a mage-marked warrior appears.

For the first time in centuries, Kane is tempted not by dark magic, but by a woman who wants more than his protection. But with both of their hearts—and her people's lives—in jeopardy, giving in to their passion may be a risk too great to take...

I love this trilogy. Sad that it is a trilogy and not a series. I so hoped it would be five books, one for each of these amazing warriors. They have slept in the river for centuries awaiting the next call to bring them forth to fight against evil. They are in the power of the Lord and Lady of the River. and when a worthy request is made they have three months to win or lose the task. This is the third and sadly, the final chapter of the story as the five have battled to save the land from an evil sorcerer. If they fail, the lady who called them from the river will face the same fate that they do - to wander forever lost and alone.

This book is the story of Kane, the only one of the warriors to wear a mage mark although he has sworn to never access the magic that came from his grandfather. Each of these warriors has an avatar and I loved this about the story. They have a shield with a beautiful painting of an animal on it, but when they speak the words the animal comes off the shield and is alive. Each is different, but all of them fight beside their warrior. Kane's avatar is not an animal but a gargoyle and the most frightening of all.

This is a book of magic and adventure and also has romance in it. It is not YA, but would be okay for older teens. As the time winds down four of the five warriors has found a woman he loves which has never happened before. Knowing when the time is over they will again return to the river to sleep until long after these women's lives are over is bittersweet. But both the men and these brave women are aware of what will happen. At times during the struggle, the Lady of the River speaks to them and especially when it seems all will be lost. I loved all three books.

Sometimes I find an author who writes a book or series that is just unique like this legend. I always wish they would continue the world they have created and wished that would happen here. Sadly (for me although I am sure not for everyone) this author has written some other things that just did not have the "magic" for me. Perhaps she will come back to creating a fantasy world again (I suppose that is a hint). The originality of this story was what I loved about it....and the characters. Oh, there are horses in this story too - magical ones....

Again, a light read, one I read thru in a few hours.

The resolutions are quite pat, the scale of the conflict quite small and the ending is a bit abrupt: for an ending to a trilogy, it felt pretty tame.

The characterisation is very good throughout, and I was in the mood for something very simple and escapist: this fit that bill very nicely.

A most satisfying ending to a very enjoyable trilogy. I just wish for more detail after the happily ever after!

Honor's Price is the third and culminating book in the story of the Warriors of the Mist. In the previous two books, readers learned about the five damned warriors for the Lady and Lord of the River, destined to an immortal existence of being called from the river to help those in need. Most recently, the honorable Lady Merewen requested aid from the Warriors to combat a growing evil spreading across the kingdom of Agathia at the hand of the evil Duke Keirthan. After winning small battles against the Duke and his men and with time growing short, the Warriors prepare for the final showdown.

The plot of Honor’s Price focuses on the warrior Kane, who carries the visible mark of a dark mage upon his face. In order to discover how to best defeat the Duke, Kane, along with comrade Averel, enters the capital undercover as a mercenary looking for work. Because of his proclivity for magic, the Duke recruits Kane for his personal guard, hoping to use the dark magic within Kane to fuel is own evil creations. However, Kane finds an unlikely ally in the Duke’s sister-in-law, Lady Theda, who lives at the mercy of the Duke’s machinations. With time running short, the Warriors of the Mist must find a way to save Lady Merewen’s land from permanent darkness.

Overall, I enjoyed the Warriors of the Mist trilogy, and recommend the series for fans of fantasy and romance; however due to the overarching nature of the story, I would not recommend starting with Honor’s Price. One thing that I enjoyed most is that the book neatly wraps up the entire three-book saga and continues sharing the stories of previously featured hero/heroine pairings.

Although the book is the final chapter of the trilogy and shares multiple points-of-view, the focus of the romantic interest rests with Kane and Lady Theda. The pair is an unlikely match that I adore. Kane is dark and although he has done much good in the name of the Lady of the River, the dark mark he wears creates a heavy burden on his soul. In addition, knowing he only has a handful of days until he and his fellow warriors are judged and must return to the river, his focus is aimed solely on defeating the Duke. It is wonderful when the Lady Theda captures his heart from the first moment he sees her, and Kane must decide if he can afford to share his affections and the truth of his quest.

Lady Theda is also a noble warrior in her own right. After the current duke murdered his brother, her late husband, he kept Theda around to use her for her resources and fortune. Theda tolerates and sacrifices much to keep those under her protection safe. I admire her tenacity and courage, although sometimes it made me a bit nervous, worrying how it would get her into trouble! But it also helps create delightful chemistry between Theda and Kane.

I like Lady Theda and the match with Kane. As is true of all of the pairings for the warriors, I appreciate the openness and honest each pair has between partners. Theda and Kane are no exception. Their mutual attraction and innate kindness draw the pair together and lend to an easy, early love during this time of high stress. Plus knowing that the warriors are not long for the earth, Kane gives his love to Theda openly, which is totally swoon-worthy.

Due to this being the final story in the trilogy, there is a lot that occurs in the pages of Honor’s Price. In addition, the author has the challenge of tying up all of the loose ends and concluding the overall story arc. While I mostly enjoyed the outcome, I felt that at times the subplots collapsed into simplistic solutions. In addition, one thing that bothered me was the number of times the deities reached out directly to the Warriors and seemed to contradict their own edicts. For example, after centuries of fearing the power and wrath of the God and Goddess if they use magic, now suddenly the warriors are told directly by their deities that it’s all okay. The change in not only the apparent attitude of the Lady and Lord of the Lake, but also the change in behavior by reaching out directly to the warriors, created some annoyance on my behalf. However, in the end, I was pleased with the closure that came with the tale.

Honor’s Price is the final story in the Warriors of the Mist series. It hit all the right notes, wrapped up all the open story lines, and came complete with a predictable, yet satisfactory conclusion. Overall I enjoyed the series and each book. I am happy with the outcome and glad that the author completed the entire story arc. At times Honor’s Price seemed a bit predictable and even simplistic, but I honestly didn’t mind it because I grew to like the Warriors of the Mist and their companions. While I wouldn’t recommend reading Honor’s Price as a stand alone, I do recommend the trilogy to fans of fantasy or period romance.

Quick & Dirty: The time has come for the Warriors of the Mist to take down Duke Kierthan once and for all in this thrilling but flawed conclusion to Alexis Morgan’s Warriors of the Mist series.

Opening Sentence: It had been three days since Kane first rode through the arched gates of Agathia, capital of the kingdom with the same name.

The Review:

The time is drawing near for the Warriors of the Mist to make good on their agreement to bring down the evil Duke Kierthan. At the moment though, they find themselves separated, with Averel and Kane in Agathia to try and ferret out the Duke’s weakness, and Gideon, Murdoch, and Duncan at home building an army. Kane’s plan is to gain a position as a guard in hopes that he’ll be able to find out something that will help them in their fight against the Duke. His plan works better than he intended, as he ends up meeting the Duke personally and becoming captain of the guard. He also didn’t plan on meeting Theda, the Duke’s widowed sister-in-law. There is an instant attraction, but neither of them can risk the Duke finding out about their feelings for each other. They also don’t realize the Duke has plans for Kane, ones that don’t involve him living a long and happy life. Will the Duke succeed, or will the Warriors be able to follow through on their promise to take care of his evil once and for all?

I feel like I’m saying this a lot lately, but this book was a hard one for me to rate. If I was judging it solely on the basis of the overall plot involving the Warriors and their fight against the Duke, I would definitely give it 4 stars. As someone who hasn’t read the first two books, there was plenty of information given so that I never felt lost, and I was easily able to jump right in on the action. The pace was fast, and I had a hard time putting the book down. However, if I was judging the book based on the romance plot, it would get a much lower rating.

It wasn’t a matter of me not connecting to the characters. I liked both Theda and Kane and enjoyed the parts of the book that involved them trying to take down the Duke, but whenever things turned to romance, it left me cold. I think it was a matter of telling versus showing. We’re told there’s an attraction, and then all of a sudden there’s a kiss, and then they’re making love, and then they’re in love. We’re not really shown anything that makes those actions or feelings seem realistic. Thankfully, the book seemed to focus more on the overall plot rather than the romance arc, so it didn’t end up being that big of a deal, but it’s definitely worth mentioning.

Overall, I enjoyed my time spent in Agathia, despite my dislike of the romance. The world building was done very well, and it made me want to go back and see how it all started. Fans of the series should be very pleased with how it wraps up!

Notable Scene:

Finally, he looked away. “You should know that I cannot stay here in the city for much longer. I have other commitments that have first claim on me.”

His truth deserved hers in return. “And I have but a short time before Ifre will force me to marry one of his cronies. I’m not asking for anything you cannot give me, Kane, but only a few hours in the moonlight.”

She was glad that the anger in Kane’s pale eyes wasn’t directed toward her. His hand sought out hers, cradling it with such aching care. “That man is a monster.”

Then why did Kane serve him? She wouldn’t ask the question when she might not like the answer. “So we have an agreement? A stolen hour here and there will surely cause no harm.”

“I will meet you here in two nights’ time if that’s your wish. Now we should return. I will watch from the shadows to make sure you reach the door safely.”

As much as she hated to admit it, he was right. But as she stood, he stepped in front of her, settling the reassuring weight of his hands on her shoulders.

“There is one more thing, my lady.”

His cold anger had changed into something else, something hot and hungry. “What would that be, Kane?”

“This.”

Then his stern mouth claimed hers with a fierce heat that burned and sizzled in the damp chill of the night air.

FTC Advisory: Penguin/Signet provided me with a copy of Honor’s Price. No goody bags, sponsorships, “material connections,” or bribes were exchanged for my review.

I started reading Alexis Morgan about 7 years ago. I found her characters to be extremely well written. No matter the PNR factor the characters themselves were extremely believable. My problems with Ms. Morgan is she feels the need to end her series.. sometimes before they should be. I know, how dare I presume to say when a series should end? And to state that it's done prematurely? Well, I would tell you if I felt like the series went on too long, so why wouldn't I tell you when it wasn't long enough.

Why am I babbling about this?? Well, I'll tell you. Honor's Price is book three in Ms. Morgan's Warriors of the Mist Series and it ended the series. It has these awesome characters, an intense battle of good vs evil, honor, loyalty and most importantly of all, love. In short it was brilliant, except...

The main couple in this book was Kane, a mage marked warrior, and Theda, the sister-in-law of the evil Duke. These two struggled to maintain their inner light while living in utter darkness.

Theda knew her brother in law had killed her husband, she hated him, but she had no way of fighting him. In a world where the man was a true and total ruler it is easy for a woman to be used and abused. Theda may have chosen to leave except her b-i-l held the safety of her women and step son against her. If she wasn't compliant, they were dead.

Kane is the Warrior with the darkest past. His grandfather was an evil mage and marked Kane in utero. But Kane was born an honorable man (child). He fought the evil and left his family behind him. When he met Gideon (the Captain of the Warriors) he found a man who refused to judge him by the mark and instead judged him by his actions. Kane and Gideon became true friends and when Gideon was "damned" to become a Warrior of the Mist, Kane followed.

Theda and Kane recognize the essence of each other rather quickly but their relationship managed to develop slowly. I love when an author pulls this off. It's so easy to meet and fall in love in two days (at least in books). I appreciate that even with all that was going on, Ms. Morgan managed to make their relationship realistically. But that's what she does.

The Warriors must win their battle by the summer solstice, they have a promise to the Lord and Lady. They will be judged, if they succeed but haven't yet proven their worth, they return to the mist. If they fail, they are doomed to wander the afterlife as shades, with no hope of redemption, truly alone and damned (this fate also includes the person who called them forth). But, If they are proved worthy, they may be released to once again live among the humans. No longer forced to rest in the Mist until the next person calls them. Each time they succeed they know their chance of failure get better.

It's a scary risk each and every time but this time it's worse. Three of the Warriors have found love and Kane is falling.. How will they ever be able to truly leave these magnificent women behind??

The first three quarters of the book was a brilliant example of world building, character development and plot intricacies. Then we get into the part where Ms. Morgan ties it all together and wraps it up. For me it was just too fast. Too much to do in too little time. It wasn't rushed exactly I personally just felt that it needed a few more pages (or a hundred). I know it's not fair of me to be so harsh on what was truly a wonderful book. I just wanted more.. I wanted to feel like the Warrior's struggles had merit. This is truly hard for me because like I said, it was a great story.

Even with it's negatives I would still give this book four stars.. Ms. Morgan is that good! I just wish I could have more.. LOL..

Read the book, read the series, tell me I am wrong.. or point out where I went wrong in my thought process.. just read the book..

Alexis Morgan concludes her Warriors of the Mist series with her latest book, Honor's Price. Morgan is a very versatile writer that shifts between genres. The combination of history and magic in this series is exceptional. Readers who are looking for something different should try this fantasy romance series for it's unique blending of elements. Morgan uses strong characters with magical abilities to create a world that is both historical in nature, and full of surprises. A great conclusion to an amazing series.

What I liked:

This a series that I think the reader needs to read from the beginning for a lot of reasons. The most important being the fact that Honor's Price is the third and final book in the series and Morgan spends a great deal of time wrapping everything up and giving readers a chance to see what is happening in the lives of the characters from previous books. I liked the fact that Morgan doesn't leave readers in the dark about the future of the characters they have grown to care about. It was a great touch!

This series centers around five damned warriors who fight for good at the behest of the Lady and Lord of the River. Their latest quest is to help Lady Merewen protect the kingdom of Agathia from the dark influence of Lord Keirthan. The warriors are invincible, immortal and ready for action in Honor's Price. It is the final showdown between the warriors and the Duke. This particular story focuses on Kane, a warrior that is marked with a dark blood mage mark on his face. He infiltrates the Duke's inner circle and by chance meets the woman of his dreams, Lady Theda. Without a lot of the background I think readers would loose a lot of the nuances and exceptional parts of this book.

The overall story of the warriors is very creative and imaginative. It is obvious that Morgan has a deep love for magic and has a way of writing about it that makes it almost seem real. Readers who are able to suspend their belief in reality will find this series one of the better fantasy romance series' out there. Morgan not only gives the reader something to believe in, she gives her warriors something to fight for. The battle between good and evil is a recurring theme in any kind of writing, but it really stands out in this series. I found it very entertaining.

Morgan has a knack for characterization. Her character's, whether immortal as with this series or more realistic in her contemporary romance writing, are always multi-faceted and have exceptional depth. In Honor's Price, Kane is a character that has some deep rooted demons that he fights within himself. A tortured hero if you will. What I loved about him was his willingness to give his love to Lady Theda. He didn't hold back despite his worries for their future. He was strong and noble. A character worthy of the name hero.

Theda was also a great character in her own right. She stayed in a situation that was very difficult because she was protecting her people. She was honorable and resourceful. Her relationship with Kane was beautiful. Two people who so obviously deserve a happy ending. I am glad that Morgan was able to give that to readers in this final installment. This is a great character driven series that readers will no doubt find hard to give up.

What I didn't like:

There were a few moments in Honor's Price that I felt like Morgan may have taken the simple way out of a certain situation or solution to a problem. But the rest of the book was so good, it really didn't matter. If an author can make you overlook some of the flaws, you know it's a good book.

Bottom Line:

If you like fantasy romance you can't go wrong with the Warriors of the Mist series. Readers will more out of them if they read them in order, but if they don't not to worry. They'll love Honor's Price so much they'll have to go back and pick up the others. Very good conclusion to a magical series!

The warriors of the mist (the Damned) sleep under the dark river through the eons, until they are needed again. When times are dark, they are called for aid. 5 warriors and their avatars, doing the work for their goddess, the Lady of the River and her consort. Fighting the blackest of evil, and when they have succeeded in their task, they will be judged. Are they finally worthy of redemption, or will they go back to sleep for untold years to come?

This time the Damned are called forth by Lady Merewen to protect her from her evil uncle, and to fight the deadly magic of Duke Keirthan, the ruler of Agathia. The warriors hate magic, they were created to fight it, and they distrust it immensely. But somehow, some of them have found love with a woman who uses magic herself, but uses it for good and protection of the people of Agathia.
Duke Keirthan has killed his own brother to become the Duke, embracing the darkest of magics to do so. Sacrificing his own servants and subjects to further his own magic and power. The nobles are ignorant, still trying to win favor with him, thinking they will be safe and share in his power. Until he turns on them as well … everything to keep the power fed on blood and suffering.

And now Kane and Averel has gone to the capital of Agathia, to gauge the mood of its citizens, to find out about the troops the Duke can put in play against them, and possibly get close to the Duke himself. Averel is a good minstrel, and he quickly finds employment at one of the local pubs. And Kane can’t believe his luck when he is chosen by the Duke for his personal guard, and granted the recently opened position of captain.
Due to his childhood, Kane can see the dark cloud of blood magic hanging around the Duke, and he know they will need to act fast, before the darkness consumes the Duke himself, and the demon is raised completely. He also doesn’t like the fact how women in the castle are being treated, especially the Duke’s sister in law, Lady Theda, who acts as housekeeper.

What Kane doesn’t know, is that Duke Keirthan can sense the deep well of black magic inside of him, and he wants to keep Kane close, so he can take that magic and use it for his own purposes. Kane quickly uses his position of Captain to find out who is bad and worth killing, and who has no choice but be a soldier and wants to do a good job of it. And he uses it to protect the woman in the castle, and make the men treat them with respect. Even in the face of the Duke, and that makes him vulnerable …

It will take Kane all of his considerable will power, and the power he swore to never use, to keep free … with a little help from Averel, Hob, and his beloved, Lady Theda …

When the Damned are finally back together, Captain Gideon and his love Lady Merewen, Duncan and his love Lavinia, Murdoch and Lady Alina, Kane, Averel and their newest member, Sigil, they are finally ready to march upon Duke Keirthan to put an end to his evil practices.

If you like fantasy romance, I do recommend this series. I first discovered Alexis Morgan’s books because of her Paladin series, which I loved. The book is very well written, with good characters, a fascinating world with a little magic in it. It is not like there are mages and witches everywhere, only a few people have magic and know how to use it. The concept of warriors sleeping until needed is a good one, and I would love to read more about past battles. I like their avatars as well, living in their shields until called forth by the warriors.
It is a fast paced story, action and suspense, but also love and romance and magic, both good and evil.

Time is nearly up for the Warriors of the Mist. They must act to rid the Kingdom of Agathia of its brutal ruler and his dark magic or spend eternity wondering alone in the afterlife. Kane's mission is to work his way behind enemy lines and into Duke Keirthan's personal guard. The mage mark he hates helps in his quest and brings him to his greatest temptation, Theda. Theda knows firsthand the lengths the Duke will go to for power. After all, he killed her husband, his brother, for his seat of power and uses the lives of those she cares for to keep her obedient. In Kane she finds hope for her people and a chance at love but with so much at stake, their relationship may be over before it ever begins.

Kane is a noble warrior but is no saint so of course I starting crushing right away. He stands out among the warriors due to his family's history with dark magic. He has no desire to dip into his pool of power yet it feels like he's always atoning for the fact he could if he wanted. I wasn't thrilled about this but he refrains from sounding whinny so I forgave him for it. Kane is the type of hero with a gruff exterior, loyal, a secret romantic, and is harder on himself than anyone else for something he has no say in. With the exception of that last item, they're all qualities I've come to really enjoy from the males in this series and with the edge he has, he ends the trilogy as my favorite.

The females in these books are strong and each brings their own flavor to the mix. With Theda, she adds a resilient spirit and acts as guardian to those who can't defend themselves. Her situation is tragic, with the death of her husband and the Duke having say over her future, but it's not in her to quit and she finds the love she deserves in Kane's arms. Theda shows that heroines don't need to be physically strong or have special abilities to be powerful. Barring one encounter where she blurts out a proposition to Kane that's totally out of character, Theda is one of the best things this book has going for it.

Their courtship comes close to insta-love but thankfully refrains from crossing that line. Their coming together is a necessary part of healing and allows each to move on to the next level of character development while staying sweet and enduring.

The final book in this trilogy has a rough start. The first quarter drags as the Warriors' action plan against the Duke begins to unfold. I also felt it's too easy for Kane to get into the Duke's inner circle. For someone so frightening and difficult to get close to, Kane doesn't encounter much resistance. Second, the POV jumping weighed the book down and not all the scenes of Gideon and the other men were crucial and felt like filler. The pace does pick up and the final moments live up to the series buildup but because of the weak start and the issues I listed, it's my least favorite installment. Love the characters and the wrap up but again, my least favorite of the trio.

REVIEW COURTESY OF ROMANCE JUNKIES.....

Kane is one of the Damned, a Warrior of the Mist, pledged into the service of The Lord and Lady of the River’s will. He and his four fellow Warriors must serve whatever champion to awaken them from their slumber beneath the chill of the river. Kane is unique among his brethren having been born from a dark lineage and he has a mage mark on his cheek. He uses that lineage to infiltrate the Duke’s domain to search for proof of the man’s atrocities against Agathia before the solstice’s end.

Lady Theda is the widow of the former Duke Keirthan. She remains in her brother-in-law’s court out of fear for her handmaidens’ safety and her stepson’s life. Theda tolerates Ifre’s discourteous treatment of her, and that of his sycophants’ without complaint. She bides her time in the hostile environment until the ending of her mourning period and the Duke decides which of his toadies will become her next husband.

I admired Theda. She never once crumbled beneath the weight and stress of living in her brother-in-law’s cruel tyranny. Theda shows an amazing amount of inner strength and fortitude to persevere. The lengths she went to protect those under her protection, regardless to the threat against herself, was altruistic. Theda thought of them first before herself. But what I respected most about Lady Theda was her ability to see beyond Kane’s dark, broody, mage-marked exterior to the man of worth beneath.

Kane caught my interest and infatuation since book one of the trilogy. He is the epitome of the tortured, dark hero. Kane had the right amount of darkness that gives him that dangerous and unpredictable air. The bigotry people showed towards him due to the mark on his cheek has wounded him; however, their prejudices did not twist his personality. Despite the dark-mage heritage he has forsaken, he proves that he is a man of honor and dignity, pushing past the stain of his birthright.

HONOR’S PRICE is the third book and the conclusion to Alexis Morgan’s A WARRIORS OF THE MIST series. I am forlorn to see this delightful series come to an end. I do feel the author could have written at least two more books in this series for either Sigil or Averel. Alexis Morgan does tie up loose ends but leaves the ending with a possibility for future books. Or that is wishful thinking on my part.

HONOR’S PRICE is the perfect book for lovers of both high fantasy and romance genres. The series does read like a fantasy novel with the added bonus of a romance.

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Chelle:
*Copy gifted in exchange for an honest review

Another wonderful installment in the Warriors of the Mist series and an ending perfect for all of those HEA seekers.

5 Warriors, pledged to the Lord and Lady of the River to fight for those in need. They have been battling the Duke of Agathia for some time as he takes over the land and suffuses it with his dark blood magic. Split apart, two try to fight from within, while the others protect the one who called them from without.

Kane was born with dark mage blood but he has never nurtured his 'gift'. His grandfather gave him the mage mark while he was still in the womb, and this, along with his stellar warrior skills allow him to be drafted into the Duke's inner guard. I loved his character. He's chivalrous, has some pretty serious inner demons that he battles, but is loyal and steadfast in his honorable quest, as well. When he finds lady Theda, it's wonderful to see his walls fall and his heart open.

Theda is a great heroine. She's been through hell and back, and yet she keeps fighting. Not so much for herself, but for those she loves. She's determined, smart, strong and willful, and she's not afraid to go after what she wants. In this case, what she ends up wanting is Kane, and their romance grows sweetly at first and then burns with a fire hard to ignore.

I've really enjoyed this series since book #1, and seeing everything come full circle was utterly enjoyable. I think this is the last book of the series, but Alexis did some things with some 'extra' characters that I can see turning into some novellas or a spin off possibly in the future.

I would highly recommend the WARRIORS OF THE MIST series, and while the books can be read easily as stand-alones, I would suggest reading them in order, especially with the extra surprises in Honor's Price that answer some questions and link all of the characters from all 3 books together beautifully.

If you're looking for a sweet historical fantasy romance with captivating characters, a robust story arc, and enough action and intrigue to keep you wanting more, pick these up. :)

Going under cover in an attempt to expose weakness if not kill an evil duke who murders his people for magical power, the hero finds himself the caption of the guard much by surprise. He knows the mark of his cheek and the almost pure white of his eyes betray him as a magic user, so the duke must have a sinister reason for promoting him but he doesn't complain as it helps his mission. It's there that he meets the widow of the previous duke who's life has become that of a servant in the house she used to rule. Her life and the lives of her ladies in waiting are constantly threatened and she longs for the dukes death more than anything.

Despite the hero's looks and cold exterior, she instantly knows he's a good man and it isn't long before the two become lovers. The hero's life isn't his own and he is a servant to the Lady and knows he must soon move on. But he's drawn to the quiet yet sexual woman and does everything he can to protect her.

When he's kidnapped by the Duke, the heroine goes to his friends for help and with the help of the hero's pet gargoyle, they save him but in doing so, they severely in danger the heroine's life.

I really liked this book for most of it and then it sort of fell flat. I like the romance to be a build up and a hot burning when they do finally come together. Though it clear they like each other, it'd didn't feel passionate. Other than the sex scenes which were very nice and well done, their romance was a little blah.

Also, two of the hero's friends have already found wives despite their lifestyle and their vows, so why did is seem completely out of the realm of possibility to find his own?

Wow, what a stunning conclusion to this trilogy. Of all the books/series I've read, this one reflects my favorite genre the best. It is a true romance, while also having a strong traditional fantasy story line as well.

A fourth member of the warriors has found love in this book. It was something he did not expect, or any of his companions for that matter. However, sense he did find it, it only strengthened his resolve to fight the evil that threatened the land of Agathia.

Of the original five warriors who took up this cause, four of them found love through this trilogy. I liked that Averel didn't do this because that would have been too much. Hopefully though, it leaves room open for further books.

I liked that the main couple of each book weren't the only point of view that were shown. It added so much to the other characters and created great subplots.

This book was so many things. Romantic, exciting, magical, suspenseful. I loved every minute of it!

I will be deeply saddened if this was the true end. It's always been called the Warriors of the Mist series, not trilogy, so I hope the story will continue. At this point though, I've seen nothing say either way. So Alexis Morgan, if you are reading this, please know that you have one reader here who is begging you to continue writing in this wonderful world you created! Oh and thanks so much for sharing this world with us!

From the first time I read My Lady Mage, I couldn't wait to hear Kane's story! He was such a tortured male with all the right qualities and his story intrigued me from the start.

Kane and the rest of the Warriors of the Mist are running out of time. They have been called from the river and given three months to solve the problems of Agathia. There is evil taking over the land and at its heart is the evil Duke. In order to battle the evil, the Warriors dispatch Kane and Averil to the capital city in order to use Kane's dark gift of magic from his grandfather to beat the dark magic that is threatening them. Once in the capital, Kane easily infiltrates the Duke's household and even becomes the captain of the Duke's guard. Though this puts him in a great place to spy, it also opens Kane up to some serious complications. One is that the Duke, able to sense Kane's dark magic, has started to covet that magic and will stop at nothing to possess the power for himself. But it also puts Kane in the path of the beautiful Lady Theda - perhaps the biggest threat to Kane's honor and duty that he could ever encounter.

This is the third and final installment of Alexis Morgan's Warriors of the Mist trilogy. This has been a wonderful tale of redemption, romance and magic. I really enjoyed this book and the first two. I hope that Ms. Morgan will bring us more stories form this great fantasy world. I would love to find out what happens to the last two warriors.

Lady Theda is the widow of the last Duke. The Duke was killed my his brother for not only his magic but for the rule of the kingdom. Lady Theda's brother-in-law has turned the kingdom into a place of evil. She know that not only is she not safe but her ladies-in-waiting are not either so she sends them away. She has no trust in the guards until she meets the new captain of the guards. There is something about him that draws her.

Two of the Damned Warriors go to the kingdom to get information. Averel poses as a minstrel and Kane tries to get a job as a guard. Kane was born a dark mage and has spent his life fighting against the pull of the dark magic that is his heritage. Kane tries not to show it but he finds himself falling in love with Lady Theda. Kane will have to depend on his dark magic to save not only the kingdom but also Lady Theda.

I won this book through a goodreads giveaway and I'm glad that I did! While fantasy isn't my thing, I do enjoy medieval romance and paranormal romance, so this seemed like a good fit. And, I quite enjoyed it! Having not read the first two books, I decided to start at the beginning and read the whole series. Book #1 was a good introduction to the overall story arch, book #2 introduced some major plot developments, and #3 had the best characters and saw the conclusion of the story arch. With this one, I love the hero's honor, sense of duty, and the way the 5 warriors of the mist work together. I loved his dark and broody nature and how he was so strong after being so often rejected. Likewise, the heroine is strong, practical, and I enjoyed seeing them come together. And, while the idea of animal avatars is new to me, I quite liked getting to know Hob. While the romance for the entire series tended to be cheezy and fairly PG-13 rated, the story is sweet and I was very interested to see how the overall story arch concluded. This is a great series and I certainly would recommend people give it a read!!

Why you should read it: I first read My Lady Mage (book one) because I was looking for a historical fantasy novel. I just love it when magic and history mix, and Alexis Morgan does not disappoint. There's a lot going on in this series, and I definitely recommend reading the books in order, but if you're a fan of interweaving story lines and POVs, then you should pick up this series. Since "meeting" Kane, I've been looking forward to his story, and my dark tortured hero finally gets his HEA! His heroine is Theda, who is a survivor at heart and wants Kane with everything she has. I love their burning romance, the chemistry that sparks not quickly but with a burning intensity that just grows. While the cover is a bit cheesy, the story isn't and I enjoyed reading it!

What a finish to the Warriors of the Mist series. I have to admit that the first book was my favorite. Lady Merewen and her horse magic is just too awesome. Alexis Morgan has a talent for writing steamy love scenes, every detail so very vivid. However, I was not as impressed with her work with the plot of this series. There are some holes that need filling, and perhaps greater attention paid to the detail of the fantasy. This series has all of the elements needed to create a great fantasy, but in my opinion, those elements could have been put together better. For example more adventure ( a detailed journey filled with excitement and danger) would have really added to this series. Nevertheless, I have never read a fantasy themed romance novel and I think Miss Morgan did very well for her genre. Overall I would give the Warriors of the Mist three out of five stars. Ladies, I definitely recommend reading the first book, I loved it!

This is the first book I have read by Alexis Morgan but it won't be the last. This was the third in the series, although it would have been good to read the first two, it was not absolutely necessary. Kane is the fourth of his warrior brothers to find love when it was not expected. Dark magic controls the Dukes castle and the duke. His need for power has resulted in the warriors of the mist to rise and fight.
Kane, sent as a scout, becomes the Dukes captain. In this position he meets the SIL of the duke, Theda who is the love of his life. The warriors bond to each other, their women and commitment to the job they have been given makes for an interesting read. I will not be a spoiler and reveal the ending but it was a little anticlimactic. I expected more of a wrap up. I would recommend it to those who like a little fantasy with their romance.

I received a print and digital copy from Berkley and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I always love Alexis Morgan books, she is one of the best writers out there and has the uncanny ability to blend genres and not miss a beat.
Her characters are always perfect, the romance is just right and the worlds she creates are always breathtakingly real. I always enjoy the personalities of her characters because every one of them is different, stands out, and is always one of a kind. They know how to reach into your heart and connect to the place where there is a part of you hoping to be one of those heroines or longing to fall in love with her heroes.
I totally plan on adding the rest of the series to my book shelves at home. If you haven't had a chance to read Alexis Morgan I highly recommend it.

The latest in the Warrior's of the Mist series is the best one yet. Kane is a delightfully tortured hero--the story dealt well with both his own struggles to choose the right path and the bigotry he faces as a man marked by dark magic. I loved Lady Theda and felt like she was an excellent foil to Kane, as she was honorable and brave but forced to serve her evil brother-in-law which gave her an understanding of Kane and his demons. I'm sad to see this series come to an end, and do hold out hope that Averel will get his own story someday.

Full disclosure: I received a free copy through the First Reads giveaway on Goodreads.

Following our favorite dark warrior, Kane's inner thoughts and turmoil are explored more closely in this final installment of the series as he falls in love with Lady Theda. Kane is what we might expect from a brooding warrior with a gentle heart, but also with dark magic he has foresworn and hates because of his past. We see him fall in love and realize that to hate the dark magic within him is to hate a part of himself.

This book has the perfect ending to this series and I'm sure that if you made it this far I don't have to tell you to read this twice. If you found this book first, read the whole series because it is a perfect read.

My first romantic historical fantasy and what a wonderful surprise. I didn’t know what to expect but what I got from Alexis Morgan’s Honor’s Price was priceless. I realized as I began that this was an installment of a series with a great cast of characters with lots intrigue, magic, action and romance which I was sad to realize ended here with Kane’s story. I hope Alexis Morgan decides to whirl some more magic once again and reveal the fates of the remaining warriors maybe even an update on the others. Thank you for a great series and look forward to reading more novels from Alexis Morgan.

Kane meets the altruistic Lady Theda, who is so blandly good that she's almost two dimensional, and the two fall in love against a backdrop of magical treachery and a looming battle. Duke Keithan and the evil being he is trying to resurrect are not fully fleshed out, and the world-building is weak. The Warriors in the Mist trilogy is a superficial trio of light fantasy with limited world building. The premise is interesting, but the execution is lackluster.

GREAT STORY.

I love Alexis Morgan books. Kane and Theda's story is the final chapter in the Warriors of the Mist books. It lets you know what was happening with all the characters and ties all loose ends up. One of the best parts in this is that forgiveness is always possible and you can go on from there for Happy life. Almost forgot the Warriors avatars added a lot to the story loved Hob.

Even though the book was part of a series, and I'd not had the fortune to read the first books in the series I greatly enjoyed the book. It was well written so I was able to quickly catch up on what was happening and the characters were enjoyable, with plenty of action.

The final book in the series - and sniff sniff I'm going to miss this world! And the Warriors of the Mist. The romance and story in this one is IMO the best in the series. Now I adore Alexis Morgan's writing anyway - but she outdid herself with this one!
