Getting bitten by a vampire in New Orleans is about as cliché as it gets, but Aurora Hedvige isn’t in a position to complain.
In the last week, her life has gone from bad, to worse. Now she’s lunging for her best friend’s throat, desiring things she shouldn’t, and craving something she can’t admit out loud. Her last-ditch effort takes her to the self-proclaimed voodoo queen of the French Quarter, but what Aurora thinks is the end of her problems—is only the beginning.
Carver Marceau has lived in a world of misery since the day his mortal years ceased and his immortal life began. He’s Kresova. An ancient race of vampires ruled by a deadly queen bent on keeping her rein at all costs. Sent on a mission to resolve a recent string of rogue vampires, Carver’s journey leads him to Aurora.
Neither of them expected the intense bond that forms between them, nor the revelations they uncover.
Carver discovers that Aurora is one of the Dria. The first of three fated harem queens, destined to return the balance to the Kresova. With the help of friends, and enemies turned allies, they’ll upend the cruel queen’s reign—if they can just survive long enough.

Thats right bitches. Its a goddamn Vampire Reverse Harem.
I aint even trying to go outside my guilty pleasure genres right now haha
Meet Aurora Hedvige . She just got a bit by a fucking vampire. The only thing is... she not even mad about it because her life was already pretty sucky. Thats right, we got goddamn vampire puns coming out in this review babes!
“Do you still care? Do you still want?” My thoughts immediately imagine him adding, “me to fuck you?” to the end of his question. And the answer is, yes. Yes, I do. I want him.”
The world building is that select female vampires have potential-power-energy to be mega powerful by building their harems and building that power. The Dria are also suppose to use that powerful for good. But PLOT TWIST. Some of them haven’t been.
Shocking.
Carver Marceau an older.. wiser… French.. assassin… vampire who comes to the French Quarter expecting to put a newbie stupid vamp outta her misery. Instead he finds she’s one of the Dria
He’s sexy, he powerful, and he was pretty funny too
“A bottle, eh? Feeling either celebratory, or like you need to get trashed and dish all your feelings. Which is it?”
And then Lucian another vampire Kesova world but he was just kinda a dick
Character wise, I enjoyed Aurora’s POV, she had some nice sass.
For the love interest though….. Lucian gave me NOTHING to work with so it really didn’t feel like a reverse harem. I was just told it was.
Carver, I need more assassin badass fighting and backstory for him. Right now he just the cherie sweet talking secret keeping dude that felt a little flat.
Overall, this was just a book within its genre. I was coming in with just basic smut expectations, so I can say that I didnt even get that. It had all the iconic elements of sexy vampires, cruel mistresses, and heroine learning her own powers. So even though some things felt rushed or incomplete, i know the sequel will fill it in
I guess my major critique is that I need more character dynamics. Slow down. Let us breathe. Let us have a moment of adventure/information dump then just have a funny fang to fang talk among our characters. I need to know more about Carver (and Lucian) to have them interacting with Aurora. It felt like there was a lot happening in the plot, so then I didn’t have the time to actually connect with the characters.
Also Aurora seemed to trust Carver pretty quick, and he didn’t’ really seem deserving of it yet. Bitch yOU JUsT MET!
Aurora, Aura, is clearing having a very bad day. She thinks she has gets bitten and turned by a vampire, she wants to attack her best friend and roommates throat, a voodoo queen is frightened by her future and an evil, mad queen wants to make her a new side show in her house/crypt of horror.
Carver has been the queen’s assassin for centuries, staying away as much as he can, is not happy that he’s been called back to the queen’s service after avoiding her for a century or two. The queen demands he finds the culprit behind the random turning attempts and especially wants Aurora since it looks like she might turn without her help.
Aurora must decide if she can trust Carver and there is a strange prophecy that might just make the price on her head even higher.
To figure this out Aurora must delve even deeper into the “vampire”, Kresova, world. This is where she meets Lucian.
There is bonds that would be deadly to form but even more deadly if she doesn’t and if the prophecy is true, Aura is the key to saving the Kresova race from the evil queen.
Thrist is the first in a new series from the writing team of Graceley Knox and D. D. Miers. Whatever they are doing, they are doing it right because Thirst had me riveted. Looking forward to Tempt, coming in March.
I received this ARC copy of Thrist from Graceley Knox. This is my honest and voluntary review.
So many things were rushed, left unexplained and the story changed so rapidly it was hard to figure out where we were in the story = A bloody mess. #notgood
And let’s not forget the editorial mistakes. Guys, I am not English. If I, as a foreigner, stumbles over them constantly, it’s a pretty good indication that’s it’s bad.
I liked the idea of the book. The plot was intriguing enough, but I think the authors wanted to put too many things in the story, and since it’s so short it’s very easy to be overwhelmed.
The characters were flat and the only time I was remotely interesting in a character, a change of scenery happened and the moment was lost. #stillnotgood
I am pretty certain of one thing though. I will not be continuing this series.
Read: 24/06/2019 1st rating: 2 stars Genre/sub-genres: RH/ vampire/ magic/ shifters/ Fae Cover: 3 stars POV- Single - 1st person (Aurora) Will I recommend: No.
I couldn't get into the story. Things are happening too quick, lots of unexplained stuff, and I honestly didn't like the characters. Aurora already trusts and obeys almost everything Carver says and demands. Me as a reader, I still don't feel any connection between them. Carver did nothing special to make me like him, and neither did Aurora do anything to make me trust her judgment. I'm still not comfortable with the first two main characters and the Author already introduces another main male character.
I think the story needs to go slower for me to enjoy it.
I was hesitant to read this at first. I love the authors other works, but I didn’t know if this series was for me. I haven’t read a really good vampire book in a long time(due to overdosing on Twilight lol) and thought I might not like it. Thank goodness I was wrong! Book one is very fast paced and entertaining. I was able to read it in just a few short hours. I would like the romance to develop somewhat more. There was little too much instalove for my taste. I look forward to reading book two.
I love a good vampire book. Aurora is an interesting mc who gets turned into a vampire and then learns she is the one part of a prophecy. I liked that aurora fought against believing everything that was told to her at first. Too often heroines just go along with whatever happens. I'm not sure how I feel about carver yet and I really hope Lucien comes around quickly. I will definitely be waiting for the next book so I can find out what happens next.
I am at a loss for words when it comes to describing how I feel after reading this book. It was mind blowing and amazing. We are dropped into this extremely well made world of vampires and more when Aurora is bitten causing her to change. What follows had me laughing and hooked as the story evolves in ways I could never dream of. Absolutely amazing and you so have to read it if you like the genre. I loved every second of it so I give it 5/5 stars.
Ok I’ve never read D.D.’s Books before but I can say for sure that this is my new favorite of Graceley’s!!! I loved everything about this! Can’t wait for book 2!
Unfortunately, it was not what I was hoping to get out of it. It was a fast paced read, but the story line elements and development just weren't deep and well developed enough for me. Nothing really seemed to be balanced out and the 'Suddenly Being a Vampire'-part was totally unbelievable written down in my opinion. A bit sad, because the concept of a good story is there and I would've liked to see how the harem romance would play out later on, but the curiosity hasn't enough leverage for me to want to continue with book 2 and 3 at this point.
Wow!! This is Graceley and D.D.'s first RH book, and they sure made an entrance into the genre! In addition to this being their first RH book, this is also their first co-written book together, but the writing flows so well that I couldn't tell who wrote what. A total win!
I am actually not a huge fan of books with vampires after the huge Twilight craze years back that completely flooded all genres with vampire books, especially the romance and YA genres. However, the premise for Thirst is so unique that I found myself totally loving the way the authors described them. And these aren't just vampires, they are Kresova. Totally unique in their own aspect. I am looking forward to learning more about the Kresova throughout the series for sure!
I really enjoyed the heroine in Thirst as well. Aurora, Aura to her friends, had me rooting for her from the start. She deals with so many crazy things in this first book that it is pretty amazing how strong she is through it all. I also loved seeing her friendship with Reina (seriously, most heroines in the RH genre are so isolated from any other females that it is rare to see a bond like theirs) and how supportive Reina was with all that was going on with Aura.
This is a reverse harem book, so I have to mention the guys! It is more of a slow burn RH series, in that Aura will develop her bond with one member of her harem in each book. It is not slow burn in the fact that the authors give us steamy scenes in book one, which I loved! Surprisingly, there are very few books with steamy scenes, especially in book one, in the RH genre so I am always pleasantly surprised when we get sex scenes early on in the series. And boy are they HOT in Thirst!!! I will take some Carver, please. Aura can share, right?
The ending of Thirst has definitely left me with questions I need answers to and a "thirst" for more in this series. I look forward to Tempt in March!
I enjoyed this book. The MC is turned into a vampire and is part of an old prophecy. When she is first turned she has no one helping her adjust nor does she even know exactly what is wrong. So she ends up going to a ‘voodoo queen’ who sets her on the path of finding out what she is now and learning what has to happen. Her Harem will be three guys and two are introduced while only one is part of her Harem so far. I enjoyed the MC, she wasn’t to whiny or harsh & abrasive. She was just the right mix of everything and considering the circumstances handled everything very well. I am looking forward to the next two books.
Some of my favorite quotes from the book:
“I drove to the 24-hour Market and purchased a package of beef organs soaked in raw blood—and a Twinkie—just so the clerk wouldn’t look at me like a total freak.”
“No, this isn’t awkward at all. There’s just a voodoo queen holding my breast in her palm while she chants to herself.”
“The slutty vampire in me claims that I should just bang him and everything would be alright. Yeah, she makes a whole lot of sense.”

I liked this book. I haven’t read a vampire book in a while and this was great. It held my attention and kept me flipping the pages on my kindle.
I liked Aurora as a main character. She was quick and reacted the way any normal person would. I mean who honestly would believe they got bit by a vampire? I sure wouldn’t!
She finds outs that she is one of the Dria. They are the three fated harem queens, destined reunite and to return the balance to the Kresova. They will come together to raise the original King of Krevosa.
Sounds easy right? Well it would be if they knew where to start. So the search is on for the other two Dria and also Aurora’s third companion.
I liked her with Carver and I can’t wait for Lucian to come around.
This is a classic paranormal romance read with no real surprises. It has the requisite vampire strain throughout the novel: sexy vampires, cruel vampire mistress, prophetic saviour, special powers, and approaching war. This is for true lovers of the classically styled vampire fan.
"Basically, shes flawless. If her disarming smile wasn't so charming, I'd hate her on principle." -Aurora
Hate someone just because shes beautiful?
Can we just not use the word slut as derogatory or negative... I get it shes feeling horny for strangers and she hates it but just no.
Note: From telling the MC she has to obey the Queen to telling her she has to fight her the next day. It felt like it a jump scene with how quick that was.
This is the story of a girl who was bitten and somehow has been able to survive without having needed to feed from the queen. The queen happens to be this blood crazed psycho too. The queens assassin (carver) comes to find aurora to bring her to the queen and for whatever reason the queen just let's her go... Which makes no sense. Then they find out she is 1 of 3 mini queens who are going to awaken the original king vampire and she has 3 consorts. Naturally the queens assassin is her first 1 and we meet the second one (lucian) who doesn't want her but is attracted to her yet he has a fiancee he doesn't love. There's a best friend in there that takes up quite a bit of the book with their chatter about everything which I guess is the authors way of making sure we have a recap just in case we missed it The first time. They call each other bitch a lot. There is a lot of cussing so be forewarned. The sex is raw, primal, and crass rather than tastefully and artfully written; it is an acquired taste. The heroine obviously doesn't know anything but it's compounded by the fact that carved hardly tells her a thing until afterwards so I'm not sure who to be more annoyed with. I still don't know what the point of introducing row is- I can only assume it was to get Lucian (2nd consort) to meet. There was no flushing out of the characters that made me feel for them. All in all, reading it felt like a waste of time and I was happy to be through. The writing itself is fine but it didn't lure me in like a favorite book would.
Short but with a lot happening and at the same time not a lot. So it looks like there are three books and each one I’d guess focuses on a different guy. The MC is a little whiny and has zero self preservation. Not sure I trust the first guy and a little disappointed about the first. I liked the friend and her straight talking bluntness despite being the only human in the room. Whereas I do want to know what happens, at the same time I’m not jumping to read the next one.
As excited as I was to start this book, it just wasn't my cup of tea. There is too much OW drama with 2 of her "consorts" and I was disgusted by Morana so much, I almost dnf at both places we see her.
The symbolism of naming a vampire queen Aurora is not lost lol.
Aurora is attacked one night. But instead of losing her wallet, she loses a few pints of blood. Oh, and her future as a human. Anne Rice may be onto something with this vampire in Louisiana thing. Learning she's in the upper caste of vampire, a Krisova, is no consolation for the fact that the queen she's supposed to serve is a bloodthirsty, murdering monster of epic proportions. Learning she can still have sunshine and beignets does ease the sting a bit, though. As she discovers she's part of a prophecy that's meant to dethrone the current murderess in charge comes to her attention, she begins to really panic. She's a food, not a fighter. Luckily, she will have 3 consorts to help her out, and 2 more queens to find and unite with, too. Only, what happens when the consorts have other plans? And she has no clue how to find these other fabled queens?
I liked the set up of the story. Vampires aren't inherently evil, just the current reigning monster. Although, some of the "good guys" are more than a little bloodthirsty themselves to be honest. The throne room scene was a little hard to read. I understand keeping your enemy close but that eats at a soul. I loved that she didn't lose Reina in all this, either. The author did a great job of creating a truly monstrously evil character to fight against, although that was a little Twilight nod there. Very reminiscent of the Vulturi scene but it does make the reader want to see her taken down even faster. Which is the goal, make the reader hate the bad guy. Er, gal. Whatever lol. At least they don't sparkle!
Aurora was just your average college graduate. She had just moved to New Orleans to be closer to her best friend and start making a name for herself. Life had been great until one fateful night where something unexpected happens. Days go by and she doesn't know how to explain what is happening to her. But her best friend has an idea, a crazy one, but at this point Aura is willing to try anything. Learning the truth, however, doesn't make her feel any better. How do you take finding out your turning into a vampire? One that will have darkness following her every move? To top it all off, you learn that you aren't just any ol' vampire. No you have to be one that has been prophesized about, and you will have three consorts to help you through your journey.
I think this is a great concept for a story. The characters are great and well-written.
There are a few spelling errors within the book, but not enough to distract you from reading.
I'm really interested to see where this story will go. I really enjoyed it and hope to see more great things to come.
I would definitely recommend this to other readers. It is something a little different, but thrilling.
Aura didnt know what was happening to her a week after she was attacked and bit by a freak. She even tried to snack on her best friend. Fearing what she might do, she goes and sees a voodoo queen. What she finds out isnt exactly good, or even possible. Shes truning into a good 'ole vampire. Yeah, and you thought you had problems. The only good thing that comes out of this is the mysterious, sexy Carver with the French accent. But will the good weight out the bad with a ancient prophecy and a deadly vampire queen?
This book was a short read. It basically layed doen the groundwork for the rest of the series. But I still liked it. At least until it mentioned the dreaded prophecy. All of the YA books have a prophecy. And I dont like it! They are all the same. "Oh, there is a long lost queen or princess that is powerful and will overthrow all the bad guys. But where is she? It cant possibly be the female MC of the book that is beautiful and has always felt different" Yeah, it gets old. But I do like Carver and Lucian. I hope Lucian will get over whatever problems he has and have a relationship woth Aura. Wonder who the third guy is? And the other queens?
This book and story has great potential. However I kept getting thrust outside of the book when words didn’t make sense due to them being typod or the wrong words all together. It was very distracting to the story, and became annoyingly frustrating.
The story also needs to be edited for continuity. The flow was confusing sometimes and that could also be in part of the words being incorrect, but some parts I didn’t understand why they were happening. I didn’t like how Aurora was expected to know how to act without having been told what to expect of this new world and what the rules are.
I also wished for a bit more in depth of the feelings, they came through really well but I want just a bit more in connections. Like I could feel the emotions between Aurora and Carver, but the sudden change in him didn’t match where we were in the story imo. Overall it does have potential, just needs some clean up and it’ll be a great awesome story.
Also not a fan of cliff hangers. Authors need to do away with them. I read the books bc I’m interested in the story and the characters I don’t need the carrot to entice me to go.
**I've received ARC of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. Thank you Graceley for this opportunity**
This was a fast and interesting reading. The MC, Aura, is bitten by a vampire and slowly transitions into a vampire. She meets Carvell, another vampire, who helps her in the transition. Things get intense as she later finds out that she is Kresova, an ancient vampire race; is part of a prophecy to destroy the evil Queen vampire Morana. Moreover, she needs to find two other vampires as well as a harem of three other men in order to fulfil the prophecy. She's already found two of her harem (Carvell and Lucian, another vampire), leaving her to one left to discover. She learns of this prophecy from Harlow, a female shapeshifter who also is a prophet.
When reading the book, I was feeling the emotions that Aura was feeling, especially the anger she felt when some vampires took her best friend, Reina. I look forward to finding who the remaining guy in her harem is, as well as the next instalment in the series.

Thirst is an INCREDIBLY ADDICTING book that had me craving MORE! Fast paced, with downright fascinating characters, and a eye popping and mouth dropping plot that had me glued to my ereader until I hit the dreaded end of the book. I can't describe how much I enjoyed this book. It had an almost adult Twilight feel to it, except with WAY more action, more sizzle, more chemistry, just...MORE to it than you could imagine.
I was very happy to say that Thirst is not your typical paranormal romance. The way the the characters and scenes and the storyline is portrayed, it completely enthralls you. Its 100% intoxicating! I could picture perfectly, what Carver looked like AND sounded like in my head and It had me wanting him. And Aurora is a strong heroine that I couldn't help but to admire and respect. Everything about this book called to me and I am now hooked on this new series.
Thirst gets a DEVASTATINGLY INTRIGUING FIVE SHOOTING STARS! I am already hankering for the next book.
The 3 foretold dias are supposed to raise the original king and overthrow the evil queen. Aura, the heroine, as one of the 3 female dias, is supposed to find her 3 mates and the other 2 dias and their mates.
This book only focuses on Aura turning into a vampire, meeting the evil queen who grinds all over Carver (mate 1/3), finding Lucien (mate 2/3), finding out she is a dias, sexing it up with Carver 2x, and finding the rebels who want the king back.
I liked the writing style. It was easy and fast to read, but I wish it had been longer. I read this whole book in one evening.
The steamy scenes were ok, but I was hoping for better. Carver seems ok, but I wish the parts with the queen hadn't been part of the book. Kinda turned me away from him a little when it came to being with Aura. I liked Lucien, but again... there is another girl in the picture for him too. Ugh.
I have a hunch that Aura's 3rd will be the original king... if I'm right, you owe me a soda. And I can say this series is predictable.

Aurora lives in New Orleans with her best friend and has a great life up until a week ago when she was bitten by a vampire. Only in New Orleans right? She's held out on feeding but when she attacks her best friend, they decide to see a voodoo queen about her predicament...and there starts her adventure. Carver has served the Kresova Queen since she turned him and always follows her orders, even when he doesn't want to. When he is sent to hunt down a rogue who is turning humans, he meets Aurora. Immediately, there is a bond between them...but they have to be careful because of the queen.
This is an amazing start to a new series! I love Graceley's writing and was really excited to read this one. It definitely did not disappoint. I started it last night after work and finished it in one sitting - it is that good. Can't wait for the next book!!
An amazing beginning to a new trilogy from a must read author. In a world where a monster rules a powerful paranormal sub species, a secret even vampires don’t know about, a rebellion has begun. From 5 year plan to saving the world, Aurora has complicated down to an art. Throw in some sexy paranormals, a prophecy and the story gets better.
If you like male harem romance then this series will be for you. But be warned nothing runs smoothly for the heroine. I love the friendship Aurora has with Reina, it’s a simple reminder of how fast things have changed for her. There are some parts that seem bitty and I imagine Book Two is going to reveal more, just enough to keep you intrigued and keep you reading.
I like the concept and the writing is fluid I was over half way through when I remembered by dinner wasn’t going to cook itself!
