The next big thing in rock, that’s what they call us. I’m going to make damn sure we get there, too. I’m 100% focused on my music. Not time for women, not time for romance. It’s just me and my guitar.
Then she walks into our soundcheck. Ellie. Wild, out of control and oozing sex appeal.
I can’t let that woman distract me. I can’t get drawn into her web of issues. But, for some reason, I can’t resist.

Guitar Freak is book 1 in the 4 book Rock Stars on Tour series. Each book can be read as a standalone.
Candy J. Starr used to be a band manager until she realised that the band she managed was so lacking in charisma that they actually sucked the charisma out of any room they played. “Screw you,” she said, leaving them to wallow in obscurity – totally forgetting that they owed her big bucks for video equipment hire.
Candy has filmed and interviewed some big names in the rock business, and a lot of small ones. She’s seen the dirty little secrets that go on in the back rooms of band venues. She’s seen the ugly side of rock and the very pretty one.
Wreckage was on their first overseas tour opening for a band that has made it big with a lead singer who is only concentrating on making music and giving the fans everything that they expect. Also with those lofty expectations Damo has pretty much given up any personal life that you would think a rock star would have. Polly, looking the very part of a groupie happens to be sitting front and center for The Freaks sound check has caught Damo’s eye but not in a good way. He had no idea that she was the bass player for their opening act; and boy could she play bass.
The one problem was that Wreckage was self-imploding with a self-centered front man who seemed determined to push all of Polly’s buttons only to bring out the worse in her. Damo wasn’t going to stand for a band and all of their dramatics even if he seen what a true talent Polly actually was. Not only was she a talent he recognized but she was the first person who started breaking down his walls.
Would these two be able to survive on tour together and possibly give in to something they felt or would Damo do whatever he could to make sure that nobody tarnished The Freaks careers. This is a good quick read that draws you in and keeps you until the last page.
I received this book as an ARC for a freely given and honest review.
I liked this book. It was just as I expected it to be... nothing special, but not a complete waste of my time. I love rocker/musician plot lines so I knew going in that I was going to have a lot of fun with this book but in a small amount of pages. I liked Polly. She had a cocky attitude that I liked and her sense of style immediately drew my attention. I enjoyed her point of view and I agreed with her decisions throughout the book. As far as Damo goes... I did not like his character. He came off very entitled and, well, a complete asshole for the majority of this book. I was constantly rolling my eyes in his point of view and he kind of ruined the book for me. I found myself skim reading the majority of his chapters and if I am being honest... I don't even feel bad about it. SIDE NOTE: I would like to address the error with the Goodreads summary for this book. It says that the main female character's name is Ellie and while it may be a little petty to point this out, no one else seems to in their reviews so I thought I would. (On Amazon, the name is Polly so this made me even more confused.) There is no Ellie in this book and I found it extremely odd that the Goodreads summary would have it that way. Overall, I did enjoy this book even though I had my issues with it. I might be interested in reading Fay and Crow's story if given the chance but I don't quite know if I want to.
All work and no play make Damo a ... lonely workaholic and perfectionist. That is, until Polly bounces into his world. Not realizing she is in his opening act, Damo actually mistakes her for a groupie and tries to have her ejected from sound check. Vinegar and oil would get along better after that! But an unforeseen situation leaves Polly unable to get a replacement room card and Damo invites her into his suite until they can sort it out. Needless to say, the inevitable happens and they are forced to admit to themselves that the spark is there. Trouble comes next in the form of Miles, lead singer in Polly’s band and her ex. Harsh decisions are made by Damo which alienate his budding romance.
Loved Polly! She was a spitfire from the beginning! Damo seemed/was very cold at first but I warmed up to him. All in all a short story which was good but could have used more pages to develop the main characters.
I enjoyed this steamy rockstar book. Polly was in the opening band. Damo was the lead in the main group. The attraction was instant but they fought it. Could these two people who seemed so different get beyond the issues and listen to their hearts? I enjoyed their story and look forward to the rest of the books in the series.
Initially mistaking Polly for a groupie who’d snuck into their sound check, Damo’s attempt at booting her out, does nothing but make her intolerant towards the man considered the ‘next biggest thing in rock’ Damo hates groupies, and he absolutely hates drama – “No dramas, no distractions,” on Tour. Trouble is, the rock chick who dressed like a groupie was someone he couldn’t look away from, and if they’re going to around for the next three months, she better stay out of his way.
On her part, as the bass player in the backup band for their tour, she had to admit he was great, and hot, but he was wound as tight as a spring, and those types just didn’t appeal to her anymore. She’d learned her lesson. The three month tour as back up band to The Freaks was going to be their big break, and she’d be keeping her head down and keeping quiet.
The attraction, however, can’t be ignored, and as the walls come down, they realise that the public persona doesn’t always match the private one. The problem may be the ex- who refuses to accept that one of them has moved on.
I had to read this in one sitting, and still, I thought it ended too quickly!
Candy Starr, with her past as a band manager, has an insight into the rock world that shows in her writing, and I have loved every book that she has written. The secondary characters are great and fill out the plot perfectly. I just can’t wait to get the in-depth skinny on the rest of the guys in the band. 4.5 Stars for a great book, and I’ve pre-ordered the next book in the series already!
Polly is a guitarist for a up and coming band called Wreckage, they are on their first overseas tour opening for a band who have already made the big time, their lead singer though was a little selfish and was letting his personal feelings towards Polly affect their performance. The angst and drama in the band is brought to the surface and well developed in this entertaining fast read. I enjoyed it very much and look forward to further Rock Stars on Tour.

There was a lot I liked about this book. I liked the setting of Berlin, although not much is said about the city, we know that difficulties with the language and distance from the US, where presumably the band's are from. The characters were fine. I just didn't get much of a background on Miles/Polly to give a care. I think a background on Damo was lacking also. Do we know anything about his name? Seems unusual. The lack of any real story and a quick ending was where the lack of more stars in this review.
Storyline was ok. Characters were likable but not as well developed as I would have liked. For instance, why is Damo the way he is? What's his back story? What's any of their backstories? I felt like I just got plunked down halfway thru the story. Sex scenes were hit but don't overwhelm the story. Book ends in HEA. Relationship moved a little too fast. Seems like they meet and then 1 week later they are in love and want forever. I think the story would have worked better over BBC the course of the tour, not just one stop of the tour.
I enjoyed this look behind bands on tour. Polly and Damo have something between them but she being the opening act and him being the star and a perfectionist makes for an interesting dynamic. Her band is a mess. Her ex is the front man and is a man-child. She can't keep her frustration off stage. That is a major issue with Damp who is the ultimate professional at all times. It only takes one night of Polly being locked out of her room for the two of them to really connect. Their personalities are total opposite but that is what make the sparks fly.
I liked this book however i believe there could be been more in the way of toying with emotions. I liked the beginning a d believed it was great that there was tensions between Polly and damo, but hated the ending. Yes they are cute, but it seemed rushed. I would have loved more will they won't they in it. Overalls not a terrible read, but it doesn't really satisfy to when you want a good romance.
When Damo was introduced in Come Clean, I was really intrigued by him. He seemed mysterious and those few brief glimpses made me want so much more.
Damo is the lead singer of The Freaks and a complete Type A. When he sees Polly, the hardcore, fierce bassist for the opening band, for the first time, he just assumes that she's a groupie. She looked the part, so honest mistake, right? I felt every bit of the connection between them the moment they saw each other and wanted so much for them to just. stop. fighting. it!! There was some definite drama in this book but I wouldn't expect anything else from diva artists.
This first book of the series has me so excited to read about the rest of The Freaks!! I couldn't put it down!!! I can't wait to see what comes next!
*This is my voluntary review of an advanced reader copy*
Wasn't a big fan. Storyline could have been good but felt massively rushed. Characters felt flat and we learned nothing at all about any of them throughout the story. No back story, no motivations, nothing. Just insta love. Shame really as I thought both Polly and Damo could have been interesting characters and so much more could have been done with the story line.
A good read. Loved it from the start. Damo crushing on Polly was fun to read. Especially as he wasn’t expecting the likes of her on his tour. I have a constructive criticism about the storyline. Although it doesn’t take away much from the book, it needs editing. Had to go back and recheck if I had read something right.
The plot was really good, reading the conflict between characters and the little revelations that made each person unique as they solved it, especially Jax was good. The romance felt rushed and forced. Opposites attract is a good trope, however, paired with love at first sight kind of ruins the opposites/enemies to lovers vibe they tried to mix with it.
This is a frolicking good read. The storyline is light with some drama and plenty of sex appeal. The characters are fun and ooze sexual chemistry. This is an entertaining book. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.
Good book! This is what happens when two totally opposite people think that first impressions really count. Ego gets in the way when it comes to saying "sorry".
Loved it. Read it in one sitting. Starr is among my favorite authors. Can't wait for her next book...already preordered.
This book IMO could have been better. There's no backstory on why Damo is the way he is, what broke up Polly and Miles and the insta love happened in warp speed. Passing on the rest.
this book started out boring but then it turned into something that made me want to keep reading till I was done 2 bands and one person of a band try to ruining them and the groupies harms someone
Found on FreeBooksy, not my normal cup of tea, but a very entertaining book, well written and thought out, characters with depth, laugh out loud parts. Give it a shot!
Not bad, but not great. The plot was a bit silly - could have been resolved if they had just talked to each other. I liked Polly though. We need more rock chicks!
