Is it too much to ask for a fairy queen to have a nice holiday?

After accepting the role as Queen of the Exiles in Shady Grove, Alabama, Grace finds that being in charge isn't all it's cracked up to be. An influx of wayward fairies find their way to the newly established haven and seek the protection of the local fairy queen.

Grace and company are just trying to have a normal holiday when it's interrupted by a daily menace that escalates out of control. Add to it an untimely visit by a coven of witches, and the holiday is quickly going to hell in a Christmas decorated handbasket. Plus, Grace is sick for the first time in her long life. She might get some sleep, if her bard, Levi would quit banging his new girlfriend the trailer.

This hilariously mad romp leading up to Christmas Day has lots of love, giving and havoc! Tissues may be required.

As Grace prepares for Christmas, she is struck by a curse and falls ill. Dylan and Levi help figure out who/what put the curse on her, but it means that she has to assume the form of Glorianna for a while until the curse wears off. Instead of the typical 12 days of Christmas, the town is also getting a troll brother each day they get closer to the holiday. These guys are causing minor havoc, keeping the main characters busy/distracted, and are quickly filling up the jail.

I'm not sure what to think about this installment in the series. The series didn't exactly go in the direction I thought it would. I thought our characters would continue to solve supernatural crimes and I guess if you count the 13 strange trolls that committed petty crimes, Grace and Dylan did that. But it wasn't quite what I expected. Things have progressed for our characters, so I can't say that nothing happened. I am entertained by these books though. They are humorous and I often laugh out loud at the dialogue and situations. I think I will try one more in the series and see what happens.

Hilarious, chaotic, and full of heart. The new influx of fairies delivers Three Stooges levels of hijinks. Really enjoyed reading how the series is developing, with its different angles and storylines.

I'm really getting into this world. I didn't feel like there were any weird unanswered questions after this book. I love the characters. The trolls were fun and their Mother.....well she's a peach lol. I really felt for Winnie but hopefully life will get better. A jam packed Xmas for everyone.

Cute and entertaining really fast and simple read. This series has taken on an episode lie quality with each book tying things up pretty nicely on whatever adventure our reluctant heroine has gotten us involved with lol.

As Grace tries to keep her town in check as the Queen of Exiles problems galore have come to rest in the form of the 12 Trolls of Christmas. As the trolls reek havoc across the town in the days leading up to Christmas. Grace still has to deal with a curse that is put on her dampening her power. Not only that the trailer park is struck by tradgety when Grace's house burns to the ground.. a tragic troll seduction gone wrong, as well as Winnie's moms drug addictions.

I love how by the end of each book it seems that Grace has recruited more loyal followers for her kingdom.. maybe a war is brewing and she will need to call on them? I'm interested to see whats next for Grace and her crew!

Another fantastic outing for Grace, Levi, Dylan and co. Now that Grace is more out in the open with her identity and has taken on a leadership role of sorts, she is becoming more central to the community. Her relationship with Dylan is also moving forward, but life is hectic, Levi has a demanding girlfriend, someone has got it in for Grace on a personal level and to top it all off the Yule boys seem to be turning up and causing absolute havoc. Sometimes in a funny way and sometimes more heart breaking. I loved that this took place around Christmas, it's always nice to see the family interplay at this time of year. Great fun.

Desperately needs an editor. Typos, poor syntax, confusing story line that would have been interesting had it been developed properly. Abandoning this series...

I enjoyed this one as much as the first. I loved the 12 brothers and thought they were a riot. Didn't like their mom. Things happen really fast here and there is not a lot of great development. Things happen the way you think they are going to happen with a few surprises along the way. I enjoyed the Christmas theme.

An Action Packed Paranormal Romance!

I was happy to see the characters from the first book in the series continue to grow and evolve.
I liked the story, but felt there was something a bit off about the pace, even if I can't quite put my finger on what it was.
The ending was priceless, feel good, Christmas Spirit..
An over-all good read!

So glad she made him suffer! Read the first book and was sort of upset/sad that she’d been lied to for so long and just got over it, but this totally made up for that ending!!! Really liked it and am looking forward to what comes next!

Good read, not perfect but an enjoyable Christmas story.

Good book, great humor maybe too much humor. Such great potential for all the characters. Will read more. Only complaint is didn't really feel like any of the threats were real.

The story was less urban fantasy and more romance (something that bores me). Still, it was fun. The trolls added comedy relief. My favorite one was obsessed with . I like learning about customs from around the world and this book didn’t disappoint.

This was pretty good on the reread as well. I remembered more of this one, actually. I'm glad Dylan and Grace work through their relationship more in this one, and Winnie's life becomes more stable as well. I feel bad for Levi with the whole Kady back-and-forth thing. I rather like Oberon. He's a pretty lit character. Entertaining plot. 4 stars.

Just as good as the first time, this time with a group of troublemakers. As usual jam packed in such a short amount of pages. I liked the continued relationship between Dylan and Grace, although Levi’s one is a bit up in the air. A nice blend of sweet, happy, sad and chaotic.

4 stars overall, 4 stars story, 5 stars narration
A hot mess but still entertaining.

I gave the first book 5 stars, but I was a little less pleased by this second book in the “Fairy Tales of a Trailer Park Queen” series. It is an urban fantasy set in a fictional small town in Alabama. I will cover the good and bad aspects of this audiobook. Overall, I was pleased and entertained, and I look forward to the next audiobook in the series. I am hooked on this unique and entertaining Southern urban fantasy.

Here are the things I loved. First, the author is really talented at creating a small town atmosphere. The world-building of this town is really good because I feel like I know the people and the town geography after listening to the book. Second, the author perfectly captures Southern culture. I am from South Carolina and Georgia, and the author really knows what it is like to live in the South. Third, I really liked all of the characters except for one (Grace). Dylan Riggs and Levi were perfectly charming, Winnie was very adorable, and the bizarre assortment of minor characters were fascinating. Fourth, the author has great imagination and cleverly added lots of Christmas folklore to make a fun plot. Finally, the narrator Keira Stevens did an amazing job. Her accents, character voices, pacing, and everything were flawless.

However, a few things in the book got on my nerves. My main complaint is that the heroine Grace is not very likable. She actually became less emotionally mature than she was in the previous book! I cut her some slack in the first book, but she did some annoying things in this one. She is a fairy princess who is centuries old, so give me a break on the immaturity. Grace loves and trusts Dylan, but she punished him for way too long (for keeping secrets in the first book) by withholding herself and her words of love. Dylan deserved better. Also, Grace has way too many temper tantrums, at least one per day. I hope Grace gains some emotional maturity in the next book. As a second complaint, there are too many instances of “he said” and “she said” in the text, although the narrator does her best at de-emphasizing them.

I requested and received a free audiobook copy via #AudiobookObsession, and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

Second book in the series I have read in the last 24 hours

I just left a review on Bless Your Heart by Kimbra Dwain a few hours ago when I finished it. I stayed up all night reading this second I installment of the series because again I could not force myself to put it down.

I think I have laughed more during these two books than most of the other books I have read combined. Ms. Swain is hilarious I am sure but what is impressive is the dialogue, characters and situations in this book were hilarious, which is no small feat. A lot of authors have a hard time getting funny right in a book, not Kimbra Swain though. She does so effortlessly over and over again. It comes off flawless and natural and I find that impressive.

This was a heartwarming book with plenty of mystery, suspense and love mixed in with the hilarity. It is the perfect mix of all the things you love in a book. I thoroughly enjoyed the growth in the relationship between Grace and Dylan as well, it was also executed correctly in my opinion. It didn't feel rushed because you felt like you had been waiting for this for 5 years just as Dylan had.

Beautiful writing, beautiful story and I can not wait to read the third book. Now, if you will excuse me I should probably get my kids ready for school so that I can take a nap. I am anticipating waking up early before they get home from school to start in on the third in this series.

kindle unlimited, got the first one on freebie day and saw that there was 10 to the series, so pulled the second one, but total waste of time and energy, from typos to chick crap to not making it clear who talking or when or why or to who talking, to mixing up characters or saying 'she' did so and so when HE did it, saying someone is her grandfather then going thru bunch of book saying father, wrong, and putting commas everywhere, especially at start of sentence when rarely need them there, mish mash of bad writing, could have been good premise but this writer not even close to pulling it off.

A Satisfying Christmas Story

One of the things I really like about this author is how she entwines historical mythological creatures into a modern day story. If you take the time to highlight names such as Krampus, you will be mesmerized by the Wikipedia information and maybe as surprised as I was that I wasn’t aware of this creature since he plays a big Christmas time role in many parts of Europe.

Grace, aka Gloriana, the trailer park queene, is a very imaginative and loving character who seems to be paired with trouble like a Mason jar and sweet tea. The emphasis on Alabama Southern culture (catching frogs in a ditch during a a storm comes to mind) is also another cool thing to discover for people (like me) from elsewhere. The story is entertaining, full of goodness (everyone loving Winnie, the 6 year old daughter of a drug using prostitute) and forgiveness (those 13 pesky trolls) and the ending is certainly special. Easy, pleasant, bedtime reading with enough action and plot twists to make me keep reading, wondering what was going to happen next, and looking forward to going back to it after having to stop. One star off for editing, though they are few, they are correctable and just shouldn’t be there after all this time. Missing, added or misspelled words cause the reader to fumble and reread the sentence to figure out what it was supposed to say.

When I first read the first book in the Trailer Park Queen series I was ambiguous as to whether or not I wanted to go on with the series. So, I decided to read book 2, "Tinsel in a Tangle" before making my decision. I have decided that this series is not for me because I really cannot say that I like the main character, Grace. It is not because she will sleep with anyone and has a foul mouth because Lord knows many of my favorite heriones suffer from that particular ailment. I just feel that she really isn't a nice person despite what those around her say. She treats most people within her orbit with disdain and hostility even those she professes to love. While she says she looks after her little neighbor, Winnie, she thrusts most of that responsibility off to Levi.

I usually barrel through books I love within a day; yet, it has taken me four days to read 200 pages! This is a clear indication to me that I am not enamored with the read or the series. Sorry Ms. Swain but this series is just not for me. For those of you who are possibly interested in this series read it for yourself to decide. Other readers seemed to enjoy these reads.

Swamp Witches, Krampus, and Yule Lads, Oh My!

Another fun book with a very interesting mix of folklore. T

his time I was delighted by silly, naughty troll brothers. So much so, I did a little giggling and learned a bit more about the Icelandic Yule Lads. Wow, Swain did an incredible job bringing them into a modern setting while keeping them fairly true to origin with only a few adjustments! I already enjoyed the story, but I really appreciated the detail that went into planning their entrance and subsequent troublemaking. Well done!

I enjoyed how everything else was handled, including the swamp witches, Dylan, Levi, Winnie, Krampus, etc. Nothing earthshattering, but plenty of action, teasing, and the other kind of action. ;-)

Again, my only negative is that it needs better editing. Words were missing in sentences and certain phrases or idioms commonly used in our language were misused. But those gosh darn Yule Lads were so much fun, even if not core to most of the book, that I had to give it 4 stars. No other options!

It’s the holidays in Shady Grove, and its residents are in for some Yuletide craziness as trouble brews in the form of trolls and witches, causing havoc and mischief for Grace and her friends. The supernatural twist of a Christmas tradition was really clever, and I enjoyed how the story unraveled. Not only does Grace continue with her southern charm and humor, we see a side of her that forms a deeper connection with Dylan while struggling to maintain her protection over her town, and yet her compassion for her friends shines overall, bringing a very heartwarming touch to this fantastic urban fantasy. I love the characters and world that this author has created, and look forward to more adventures with Grace and her gang.

Listened on audio: Keira Stevens continues her amazing narration, giving such life to this colorful bunch of characters, while enhancing the listening experience of this magical “fairy” tale.

3.5 Stars

In some ways, this book was an okay improvement over the first. Although enjoyable, there were still issues that prevented me from going with a 4 star rating.

We get a bit more character depth, but just a bit. This is due to the fact that the plot seemed a little too busy/elaborate and the overall story ended up crossing the line of "rushed" and "hastily put together" in a few parts vs the fast paced feel I'm sure the author was going for.

I loved the concepts that were presented in the story in regards to the 2 major story lines that were found in the book. I thought they were clever but felt that they should have been created separately. What could have been 2 great books turned into 1 story that felt more like too many ideas getting squished into a single instance.

Do plan on giving book 3 a go and can only hope things continue to improve.

Awesome Series! SLEEP ROBBER!

I devoured the series through the 10th book in just a week. Impatiently waiting for the next book due out in Feb '19. If you like all sorts of fairies, were wolves, demi_gods... set in modern day, you'll LOVE this series. Snarky comments included for free. She's a trailer park queen and proud of it. You can make her a queen, but her heart will always be in the trailer park. And what a big heart she has, don't let her tell you differently. Descriptive worlds and fleshed out characters. Love stories and battles. What more could you want. A new twist on the Seelie and Unseelie fairies. Once you start this series you're immediately hooked, but BEWARE, this series will rob you of sleep. Your mantra will be, "One more page, just one more chapter". I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. NEXT BOOK, PLEASE!

This was cute. Very entertaining and easy to read even if it was a bit candy ass at the end. There were a few obvious editing errors but the story and characters were pretty solid. I really enjoyed the troll brothers and Krampus. This series is a nice light fluffy read and the books are fairly short so I will definitely read the next one.

I am a cheater and I tend to look up story spoilers if I am unsure about continuing a long running series. Based on that I think this is going to be one series I quit before the final book. It seems like it might lose its easy going happy go lucky flighty charm after a while. I was also kind of banking on a particular HEA and it appears that does not happen so I am not at all pleased with that. I am definitely going to buy and read only 1 book at a time in this series instead of purchasing them all at once.

On the Twelfth Day of Christmas.........

Awesome. Alright there were some howlers in the proofing department but if you can ignore them then this is a fabulous read. Take Christmas, add some trouble making trolls, their more troublesome mother, the Swamp Witches, a kidnapping, a death hex, jealousy, love, death, drugs and a little girl for all the ingredients you need to make a fast, action packed read that won't let you put this down until you have finished it. Will everyone survive? Will she ever get used to being Queen? Will she choose the right man? Will he choose her back? The characters are evolving with this 2nd book and you get a better idea of the community that they live in. Terrific.

The second book in the Fairy Tales of a Trailer Park Queen series had me laughing! So entertaining! Grace is sexy and sultry. She has the love of 2 men but the heart warming part for me is the love they all have for little Winnie. The Yule Lads brothers are a crack up! How Grace doesn't lose her ever loving mind, is beyond me. I have read all the books so far in this series, and Tinsel in a Tangle is my favorite. Grace has such a big heart, though she tries to hide it. She is strong, brave, loving and fierce. Exactly the kind of herorine I love.

Amazing story

It's the twelve days of Christmas in the trailer park, or make that thirteen. Even though she is in no way human, Grace has lived in the human realm looking enough to yearn for a real Christmas, with family. Now, she finally has the chance with Dylan, Levi, Nestor, and Winnie, but her new duties as the Queen of the Exiles seem to keep getting in the way. This story is awesome because weaving though the overall mayhem lies the overarching theme that family is what makes the holiday special. I can't wait to read the next story.

This book has me laughing and crying. It was amazing.

I do enjoy reading about Grace and her coming into her role as Fairy Queen. THis book was hilarious with all the shenanigans of the Yule Lads. I love seeing Grace interact with all the magical people that she has sworn to protect. It is also a heartwarming story of love. I love her relationships with those closest to her. Grace has quickly became one of my favorite heroines. She's strong, sassy, and scary in her willingness to do whatever it takes to keep those she loves safe. This was a very awesome book!

Tinsel in a Tangle gives a Happy Ending unless...

Shady Grove is spun on it’s heels as a curse is placed on Grace. The curse has the duration of thirteen days before Christmas. Delivered by trolls, all sorts of mayhem burst forth in Shady Grove as Christmas festivities are planned for the townsfolk. As per her gift, Grace handles each day with caution and power to save her town and residents. Look for the twists and turns and unexpected situations to abound. Now be a good reader, get comfy and refreshments handy to dive into book two of a Trailer Park Queen!
