Jared is seeking revenge for the death of his sister and believes the Wyndham werewolves are responsible. Trying to gain entry to the house he runs across Moira and promptly tranqs her and takes her to safety.
Moira of course is not about to let anyone hurt her pack even if he is sexy.
I laughed out loud at Moira taking off down the road in a duck covered shower curtain and found it amusing them both seducing the other for information. The banter between these two was so good.
Poor Jared when the truth came out but I did applaud him chasing Moira down to apologise.

As usual, "Secrets" has all kinds of stories.

"Taming Kate" draws inspiration from the "Taming of the Shrew" theme, but the hero is a sexy cowboy with lots of sexual experience but a romantic hart. 3.75 stars because I didn't buy the fact that the heroine wants to spend her life with him after just two days (technically one day and a half). I could (barely, but it's possible) understand him loving her after just seeing her picture and hearing stories about her from her great-aunt. The whole brothel legacy is interesting, though.

"Jared's Wolf" - 4.5 stars. It's FUNNY, sexy and has the Wyndham werewolves. What more can a girl want?

"My Champion, My Love" - didn't read it. Shame on me. But the title sounds so boring... I apologize if the story is actually not as the title suggests. I promise I'll read it... someday.

"Kiss or Kill" - surprisingly good. 5 stars. And it's Liz Maverick's first story. I'm impressed.
I think many people didn't like this very much because they're not into SciFi. It's a little difficult to really understand the world the characters live in because it's a short story and the setting is not fully explored. But the idea is interesting and there are other themes under the surface. Like prejudice (human/cyborgs, men/women in the military)and corruption.
The characters were fairly complex too. The story didn't properly explore them, but there were hints, especially about Camille.
My guess is other readers find the story strange because they don't identify with the characters. Their values are different. But that's how it should be. Their world is different. I'm tired of contemporary-type characters "transplanted" in a historical or futuristic setting. Logically, that can't be accurate.
And there actually was a plot. The characters changed through the story and the tension between them was not only sexual and very well expressed.

Mm-hmmmm!

I liked Taming Kate. The plot line was different from the norm, and the characters bold individuals. I'm glad that Kathryn let go of her inhibitions and allowed Trey to teach her a thing or two...

In Jared's Wolf, I found Jared a dull-witted character that made me laugh when he tried to be domineering. I still think that Moira found what she truly lacked. And I really enjoyed the banter between the characters - I laughed until I had tears!

My Champion, My Love I may have been able to do without. I didn't find it erotic or exciting in the least. I thought the plot weak, no substance whatsoever. Other than the description of his, uh, 'size', there was nothing erotic to the story, even for the setting of the time period where most didn't understand women's 'hunger'.

Kiss or Kill wasn't as exciting as I thought it would be. It was more laid-back than I anticipated. Not to say it was bad, it truly wasn't. I thought it slow and sensuous. The plot was pretty good, with a little curve thrown in near the end. I think it could have used a little more on the erotic scale, but it was still pretty good.

Slightly B&D, Jeannie Cesarini's Taming Kate had an unexpected plotline which was enjoyable to read as it spun out. Not the best writing but I will explore more of her writing.

Alice Gaines' My Champion, My Lovewas different. I must confess I skimmed most of this..it was just too Victorian twee for words.Gaines had the time period's language down and her writing was uncomfortable with the mores but the styles and setting were much too stiff (no pun intended!).

Liz Maverick's Kiss or Kill also had an unexpected approach to the secrets theme. I would have enjoyed it much more as a full-length novel; this version felt as though it were lifted right out of one as I felt very lost much of the time.

MaryJanice Davidson Jared's Wolf is such a lovely parody on romance! Davidson is having such a good time writing this little werewolf adventure and I just couldn't stop laughing...

Jared's Wolf is book two in the Wyndham Werewolves Series by MaryJanice Davidson. This story is HOT-HOT-HOT! Moira is a werewolf in the Wyndham Pack and wallowing in self pity over her lack of love life. She takes a stroll on the grounds and runs into a trespasser. He tries to warn her to run and ends up tranquilizing her to get her to safety. She's hot for Jared and wants information, so she tries to seduce him, only to get seduced herself. I was shocked by how sexy this story was and I can't wait to read book three.

I have read better in the Secrets series. My favorite is the old Victorian tale - My Champion, My Love, which takes place in 1888 -- nicely written and well told. I liked Davidson's wolf tale more than I thought I would, as I am not a big fan of her Wyndham wolf stories -- but maybe I just needed to read one with more sex in it :-).

I only read jareds wolf as part of the wolf series of MaryJanice Davidson. but I have to say it's an incredible read! the plot is so intriguing and the sex parts aren't the key part of the story like they were in the last book. I like the plot and the story and think that MaryJanice Davidson is a fantastic writer

I wanted to read this because one of the stories is from MaryJanice Davidson, who I love. Her story was good, about the Wyndham Werewolves. Jeanie Cesarini's story was pretty good too. The third story was kind of blah, and the fourth was a little weird (I'm not a huge sci-fi fan) but ok.

Jared's Wolf is my absolute favorite Mary J Davidson story. I think I've read it about six times now. To be perfectly honest, I'd have to go back to re-read the other stories to comment on them since it's been so long.

Jared's Wolf:

This series just keeps getting better with each new book. Loved the humour in this one. Moira and Jared made an interesting pair - brains and brawn and mostly brawn.

Rating: 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.
