My disease is as rare as it is famous. It's a form of Severe Combined Immunodeficiency, but basically, I'm allergic to the world. I don't leave my house, have not left my house in fifteen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla. But then one day, a moving truck arrives. New next door neighbors. I look out the window, and I see him. He's tall, lean and wearing all black--black t-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly. I want to learn everything about him, and I do. I learn that he is funny and fierce. I learn that his eyes are Atlantic Ocean-blue and that his vice is stealing silverware. I learn that when I talk to him, my whole world opens up, and I feel myself starting to change--starting to want things. To want out of my bubble. To want everything, everything the world has to offer. Maybe we can't predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It's almost certainly going to be a disaster.
#1 New York Times bestselling author Nicola Yoon is back with her second book, and just like Everything, Everything , it's an instant classic with a love story that's just as intense as Maddy and Olly's--get ready for Natasha and Daniel.
This book is inspired by Big History (to learn about one thing, you have to learn about everything ). In The Sun is Also a Star , to understand the characters and their love story, we must know everything around them and everything that came before them that has affected who they are and what they experience.
Two teens--Daniel, the son of Korean shopkeepers, and Natasha, whose family is here illegally from Jamaica--cross paths in New York City on an eventful day in their lives--Daniel is on his way to an interview with a Yale alum, Natasha is meeting with a lawyer to try and prevent her family's deportation to Jamaica--and fall in love.
Nicola Yoon is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Everything, Everything and The Sun Is Also a Star. She is a National Book Award finalist, a Michael L. Printz Honor Book recipient and a Coretta Scott King New Talent Award winner. Both her novels have been made into major motion pictures. Nicola grew up in Jamaica and Brooklyn, and lives in Los Angeles with her husband, novelist David Yoon, and their family.
The Sun is also a Star, was an absorbing read, about fate bringing two teenagers together, how they fell in live quickly in a day, deportation and more. Loved it, great ending!
Why did I wait so long to read Nicola's books? It was so real I could almost see New York. I'm headed back to the beginning of this kindle item to read Everything Everything now.
NOW, I can tell you i liked this book so much I am addicted to it , it’s so entertaining and has a cute romance between two neighbors and its just a vibe i finished this book in 4 days , As a slowreader it’s an accomplishment for me i highly recommend this book
Nicola is phenomenal at character development and creating an irresistible plot but she always misses the mark with the ending... Neither books were insanely memorable.
