The imp Federico has gone missing, and only Jade and Davril can get him back.

They have to hurry, though. The evil witch Angela has kidnapped the little rascal for her own purposes, and whatever those are, they can't be good. She wants to destroy the Fae and bring the Shadow to our world.

Don't worry, though. Jade and Davril are on the case. The only problem is that Jade can't give up her old life (er, of crime), and Davril (that is, Lord Davril Stormguard, Knight of the Fae Court; in other words, he of the broom up his butt) can't allow her to keep burglaring. How can she stay true to herself and still remain a knight?

It's a pickle. And if they can't resolve things, fast, Angela might just get what she wants, and the Shadow will rule over all.

Dragon Knight is the second book of the Reclaiming the Fire series, but it can be read as a standalone. This is a full-sized book full of magic, action and romance, perfect for readers of Patricia Briggs or Charlaine Harris.

On Fire

KU
There are parts of this novel I enjoy, then parts that slow me down. The urban fantasy NY world building is great and I have a particular love for castles on top of skyscrapers. The plot is fairly good but the random pockets of immaturity brought down parts of the storyline, together with blow by blow descriptions of several scenes, which slowed down the pace.

One thing that I did find annoying was the overuse of the term goons...

Action-filled sequel to Dragon Shadow. Jade is between a rock and a hard place. She needs access to the Fae library in order to hunt down Vincent Walsh, get revenge for the death of her father and grandmother, and get her dragon back. She has sworn an oath to the Fae Queen and Davril wants her to be training with the other Knights, not hanging out in the library all day. On top of that, her sister is now trying to carry on helping others without Jade's cat burglar skills, and it is not working out very well. Davril has told her she will not be a thief if she wants to work with him. As if.

While participating in some illegal activities with her sister Ruby, they come upon some information about the whereabouts of the imp that Angela kidnapped when she attacked the Fae. Federico knows a lot of secrets and they need to rescue him before it is too late. But does she really want to go into the magic of Central Park where Knights have disappeared never to be seen again? And how long will it be before Davril figures out that she has an ulterior motive in the rescue of Federico? And what the heck is this attraction she feels for Davril and he, apparently, also feels for her? He is her partner for cripes sake.

I read an advanced reader copy of this book. My review is voluntary.

Less Dragon more Fae

This book is way more Fae than dragon this time around. Jade is still on a mission to find the mage who stole her fire, and now that she’s an honorary knight in training she has a lot more access to Fae information to help her in this goal. Except the Fae doesn’t seem to be all that on board.
Honestly I felt like during a lot of this book that people were not that kind to Jade, it felt like a whole lot of judging and not a lot of understanding. Davril once again was super black and white, super judgy, and really only wanted to do things his way. It did rub me the wrong way, especially since the whole reason the Fae wanted Jades help was because of her contacts and her lifestyle, and then when she signs up to help they handicap her by basically making her leave her previous job behind. An honestly the way they judge her for wanting to focus so much on Walsh was super annoying.
There’s a lot of action in this book which I liked. I also really liked how well the writing of the action/flying fight scenes were written, I could clearly see it in my head which was impressive. I liked how the author revealed a little bit more about the mystery at hand with Mistress Angela, but there are still a lot of questions. I feel like next book is going to bring a lot more Davril information, which I’m excited about.

Frustrating!

I love the concept of the story, I love the world building, I mean Davril's castle IS on top of a skyscraper (I think I would get lost within the walls of the castle and the palace), and the idea of turning Central Park into a magically protected haven for those of a more sinister persuasion (crooks etc etc), that was a brilliant idea.

Where I love the characters I found I was becoming increasingly agitated with Jade and her many unwarranted immature actions and thoughts, so much so I had to put the book down. She is in her own head for most of the book I wonder how she is able to function. I did finish the book.

That said, when you get past that it is a good read, slow in parts.

Dragon Knight was a wonderful continuation of Jade and Davril’s story. In this chapter of their lives Jade continues her search for Walsh to exact her revenge and reclaim her dragon fire. Jade also holds up her end of the bargain with the Fae Queen and aids in their search for the Imp Federico. Mission search and rescue Federico will require Jade to secretly call upon her Cat burglar skills subsequently causing her loyalty to be called into question. Davril struggles with the idea that not everything is black and white, there are some gray areas too. He’ll have to decide if he’s willing to not be so stringent with the rules and try to see things from Jade’s viewpoint or if he’s going to have her expelled from the kingdom.

I enjoyed Dragon Knight. I can’t wait to see what adventures the next book holds for Jade and her friends.

Great story!

I really loved this story, there was a lot of action and it was very easy to get into the plot. The 1st book in this series and this one were the first time I had read anything by this writer and I'm glad I did! Very well written and action oriented in a paranormal background. The main character Jade has her way of getting into things and right back out in the process of helping others. There seems to be something between her and the fae Lord Davril Stormguard, and I hope there is another book in this story as the author has commented on, as there is so much more of this story to be told.

Jade and Davril are still at odds over her previous... current choice of professional thief. They must come together to save Frederick and the whole world from being overtaken by The Shadow , only problem is Davril won’t stop and bend the rules long enough to let Hade do what she does best !! Follow them in book 2 to see exactly what happens when two very different Knights are on the same case !! Can be read as stand-alone but I believe you will get more pleasure in reading them in order as to know their complete back story . 4⭐️‘s I can’t wait for the next book .

Good not great.

The story is good but I have the same complaint about this book that I had with book one. This feels like a YA and is written like one. A lot of the things Jade says and does are so childish that it makes me want to stop reading. I think the author is trying to be funny but I didn’t like it. There were unnecessary things like trolls picking their noses and examining boogers. For an Adult Fantasy this doesn’t feel adult. I will not be reading any more in this series.

Pretty good

The first and second book have both been nonstop action.

There have been some grammatical errors in both, but nothing too crazy.

They're quick and interesting reads.

I will admit I did get a little bored near the end of this one.

I like the slow "not" relationship between Jade and Davril. I also enjoyed that the little demon got to have a little more time in this book!

There has been quite a bit of magic in both books. There's always something happening. Some new plot, some new evil coming out to play.

They've been pretty good books.

Great Read

Jade seeks the fire that was stolen from her. However, what she is finding are the sparks between her and Davril. I like the action, humor, and romance. The relationship with Jade and Davril runs hot and cold. He thinks that she should stop being a burglar even though her actions save people and believes in the sanctity of oaths no matter the consequences. She just wants him to jump her. I look forward to the next book.

Fast read

Short and sweet. Everything seemed to happen in this book very quickly and yet I feel that the story barely progressed any and that is the reason behind my lower rating. Only one really significant thing happened and one minor one. The rest left the story exactly where it was before.

Fun and amusing

Relationships work best when people don't work hard to change their partner. That just leads to all sorts of conflict. I did enjoy the adventures in the book. I will say the title felt misleading. It seemed that Jade would be getting her powers back, but she does not. Even with that, this was a fun and nonstop adventure.

Loved this book!

Another fantastic book by Alicia Wolfe! It's full of excitement and adventure. The plot gets better and better. The characters are engaging and the heroine is hilarious. I'm so glad I found this series. Can't wait for the next book.

I think I’d like this series more without Jade. I find her to be an obsessive twit- one I want to smack on the nose with a rolled up newspaper and tell ‘No!’.

Davril... I could do with a lot more of him... a lot less of Jade.

Good

****mild spoilers*****

I struggled to get through this one. Jade’s fight between going after the dragon magic their and honoring her Knight promise irritated me to no end. Follow through on your promise.

The stakes are going up.

Loved this second serving of Dragon and Fae. Jade is a true badass, if sometimes misguided. Beneath all the show and bluster she has a good heart. Davril just needs to chill a little.

As the Fey turns

As this story progresses, more is happening than.meets the eye. Will the world change or will the knights realize that there are needs that have gone unrealized.

An entertaining series

Another enjoyable book in this series. There were a few editing errors but these didn't detract from the story. An imaginative and action packed storyline.

I devoured this book right after I read the first one. Jade is now a fae knight and she is playing both sides. She still seems to be hiding from being an "adult" or as people now say, she isn't interested in "adulting". With her new position she can't get away from it. Her relationship with Davril is so slow. I guess Fae can take as long as they want. I enjoyed this book and immediately dove into the next book. Yay for completed series!
