Prince Freddie is off to save a castle from a ferocious dragon when he realizes that he really, really needs to pee. But what with scary ogres, damsels in distress, and impossibly long lines for the only bathroom in the forest, it looks like Freddie will have to face the fire-breathing dragon without having relieved himself. Or will he? The two-birds-with-one-stone ending to this hilarious tale from the brilliant Greg Gormley and Chris Mould will have readers laughing so hard, they’ll run for their own restrooms.
Greg Gormley is the author of several internationally successful picture books. His most recent, Dog in Boots, earned superb reviews and was selected for the USBBY outstanding international books list and the Oprah Winfrey Best Picture Books of 2012 list. He lives in Cambridge, UK with his family and a giant dog called Sid.
Prince Freddie has just downed a huge glass of lemonade when he's recalled to duty by his trusty steed, Sir Rushington. The palace is under attack and they must defend it post haste! Freddie jumps into the saddle, but all of the jostling motion makes him realize that he has to pee. He convinces Sir Rushington to make a pit stop, but just as he's about to go he's attacked by an ogre! He leaps back into the saddle and they continue their journey. Over and over again Freddie tries to pee in various places but there's always something or someone there preventing him. Ridiculous! By the time they reach the palace, it's a real emergency and Freddie pushes right past the dragon threatening the castle. She's so impressed with him that she accidentally sets the castle on fire. No worries, though, Freddie puts the fire out with something special he's been saving all this time.
Readers will FEEL Prince Freddie's pain and will either be in stitches at his predicament, or begging to visit the bathroom. Should be a real kid pleaser since it's all about bodily functions!

Prince Freddie is enjoying his vacation when he is suddenly called up (by his horse) to rescue a castle from a dragon. So he rushes off, but should have "gone" first. The up and down motion of the saddle is more than he can bear, so he begs the horse to let him off, but each time they stop, something prevents Prince Freddie from relieving himself - an ogre, a princess, a long line - by the time he reaches the castle, it's an emergency.
A bit irreverent, it's just silly enough to be so much fun. With lots of references to fairy tales, this is fun to share with your favorite little prince - potty trained or not. The girls will like it too.
Body humor is not one of my most favorite things to read about, although this was done in a cute but funny manner that made it enjoyable. It is a little on the wordy side for my taste, but the pictures are fun and the story flows. Some of it repeats itself so that makes it more fun. The ending of the story makes it even more fun. NOT a bedtime story if you catch my meaning (he he) however this would be fun for a small storytime and activity.
We’ve found there are not many books about pee. Lots about toilet training but when you do EC with your baby that’s not needed or very interesting. We love Everyone Poops and The Gas We Pass. If only there was a pee book in that series.
After MUCH looking we found this book and while it’s nothing about the science/biology of pee it is a DELIGHTFUL and Whimsical and such a fun book!!!!
Such a cute read. Prince Freddie is on a quest to save the castle, but there's just one issue: he needs to potty! Along his journey there are many opportunities to go, but they are quickly doused. With each interaction, his bladder gets even more full and his will to hold on is certainly tested. Will the prince ever find release? Find out in this comical picture book.
A young prince is so eager to defend his castle against a dragon that he forgets to pee before he sets out on the journey home. He makes several unsuccessful attempts at rest stops, but always something / someone gets in the way. Luckily, when the castle is (accidentally) set on fire by the dragon, the prince as a handy way to put it out.
Kids are sure to enjoy this hilarious tale of Prince Freddie and his need to pee! Atop his horse, Sir Rushington, they run into one roadblock after another on their quest to allow the Prince to pee in peace and privacy. The finale is a great end to the story.
Very cute book about the necessities of life! Anyone, grownup or child, who's taken a long car trip with someone who wont stop for the bathroom can relate to this silly tale. A fun read and some cute illustrations as well.
Created this just to say to the ones and twos, “It’s about Peeing.” If you knew that then why did you even pick it up to read it? My Lord get over yourselves. To the “Gender Comment,” SMH.
Great book my kids loved it!! One of those random finds at the library. Plink Plink Plink
Funny, but very gendered. Unfortunately the "heroic act" could only really be done by a boy. The feeling throughout the book is universal, it would have been nice if the end was more universal, too.
Must read! Definitely great for a storytime. You know the kids are gonna crack up whenever you say "I really have to pee." And, of course, can't beat the wordplay on "The Princess and the Pea".
More bathroom humor, better done than some. The "up and down, up and down, up and down" will have children's hands going "up and down" and crossing their legs. Come to think of it...
A young knight is bracing off to fight a dragon but really ahs to be along the way. Will he be able to find a spot or will he keep getting interrupted? Preschoolers and up for humor
