Actual rating: 15 stars. Or maybe 16. This book sucks so much I really don't know how to rate it.

⚠️ Warning: no fangirling will be tolerated in this review. None whatsoever. Not even the slightest bit. Nope nope nope.

Okay, I might maybe have perhaps possibly said this before, but it never hurts to rehash and stuff, so: there's a slight chance this might maybe perhaps possibly be the best bloody shrimping book Pippa DaCosta has ever written. I mean, the story is somewhat (if a little stupendously) riveting in a relatively thrilling way. It is kinda fresh. It is sorta original. And some crustaceans might even say it boasts enough startlingly unexpected developments to last four nefarious lifetimes or five. But apart from that, this book really is no big deal and stuff. Okay, so there's a slight chance Li'el the Prince of Me Pride might maybe perhaps possibly be the most yummiliciously succulent and delectably complex character Pippa has ever created. Such a proud mummy she must be right now. I mean, the guy even outranks both my boyfriend Caleb Shepperd the Glorious Asshole Extraordinaire AND my boyfriend Ace Dante of the Deliciously Ruthless Soul Eating Antics. But hey, really, no big deal and stuff.



Ah, Li'el the Ever Luscious MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE MINE! Such an exquisitely cocky bastard you are. You are so full your presumptuous little self, so overconfidently arrogant, so delightfully aware of your own magnificence, it's beautiful. Someone should give you a medal or something. I mean, this is the stuff of legends! And of the Guinness Book of World Records! And of the Nobel Prize, too! I think I need to talk to the Nobel Committee post haste, and make sure that they make you the next recipient of their Pompously Self-Important Smartass Prize (PSISP™). Between your scrumptious smugness and my mouthwatering nefariousness, we shall be the mostest perfectest couple ever. Until the end of days. At least. Okay, some might say the tiny age difference between us could prove problematic, because people aged 10,000+ years like you are supposedly slightly repulsive and decrepit and stuff. But shallow I am most certainly not and looks are absolutely nothing to me. I happen to lurves you just the way you are. You know, for your brain and stuff. Couldn't care less about your moderately inviting body. Nope nope nope, not me. Absolutely not.



Okay, so maybe it doesn't hurt that you don't look a day older than 30.



Okay, so maybe it doesn't hurt that you look positively edible, either. But I'd still lurve you just as much if you were hideously ugly as fish and creaky beyond repair, you know. Of course I would. Besides, you're one of Pippa's Highly Scrumpalicious Babies (PHSP™) and therefore Prime High Security Harem Material (PHSHM™). There is one thing we will have to discuss though, Your Tasty Pretentiousness: that whole "sharing" silliness has to stop. NOW. I get that you've been doing the orgy thing spreading the lurve for millions thousands of years, old habits die hard and stuff, but nope nope nope, in Sharing is the Bloody Opposite of Caring Land (SitBOoCL™) this shall not come to pass. Ergo, a cease and desist order receive you shall. But hey, no pressure and stuff.

Hmmm, I have an inkling there is a slight chance you Little Barnacles might be slightly sick and tired of hearing about my yummy boyfriend. What can I say, I'm clairvoyant like that. Anyway, I am in a most lenient mood today, so I shall stop fangirling telling you about Li'el and start fangirling telling you about the story instead. My pleasure and stuff.

So. Why is this the best bloody shrimping book Pippa DaCosta has ever written, you ask? Because it's Pippa DaCosta to the power of 24,458 (more or less). Okay, so we all know how beautifully evil Evil Pippa is well, the most astute decapods among us–aka those who read lurve Pippa's books—do. The others have such a pointless, Pippa-less life they might as well self-combust and stuff . She loves nothing better than to viciously squeeze, crush and squish your black, withered heart, chop it into tiny little pieces and then stomp on it for good measure. It's quite orgasmic, really. Anyway, take the usual Pippa Unrelentingly Malevolent Ruthlessness (PUMR™), raise it to the power of 85,457 (inflation's a bitch) and tada! You get this book. I mean, the Typical Pippa Story (TPS™) tends to make you want to hide in a corner to decompose in peace. While swooning to death. And clicking your pincers in a bout of utter hysteria. And feeling tingly all over in your exoskeleton because reasons. And feeling stunned, astonished and generally flabbergasted at every turn of the page. And jumping up and down in titillated glee (yes, that is a thing) like the little frog shrimp that you are. And harboring slightly homicidal thoughts towards the cunning bastards and vicious bitches in residence. Among others things. But this story here? It really takes the cake. And kinda sorta leaves you feeling like…



And…a teensy little bit like this, too:



I'm telling you, it takes one tough crustacean to survive this one. Pippa the Heartless is ferociously barbarous here and has even less mercy on her puny readers than usual. Tremendous death toll to be expected upon publication of Chaos Falls. Pretty sure the release of this book will prove to be the Armageddon of Urban Fantasy. Good thing Li'el Pippa also happens to be fiercely hilarious. At least her readership will die laughing and stuff.

Get through it unscathed many Barnacles will not. So. A word of advice, O Queen of Callously Vicious Unpredictability (QoCVU™): if you keep killing your readers dead like this, there will be no bloody shrimping audience left for your upcoming books. Just thought you'd like to know. You are quite welcome.

I might be slightly (choose all that apply) hysterical/dead/hyperventilating/brokenhearted that was a joke, I don't have a heart /stoked/disconsolate/electrified at the moment and therefore somewhat unable to form a single incoherent thought. I shall return at some point. Maybe. In the meantime, please feel free to dance on my behalf. This book moderately deserves it. I mean, one could say that this might very well be one of the bloody shrimping best stories Pippa has ever written. Possibly. So one might perhaps want to consider shaking one's booty pincers to celebrate and stuff.

The weirdest attachment just landed in my inbox. Something called an "ARC" I think? No fishing clue what it is. Well, "ARC" sounds like it might possibly be an acronym for something. Not sure what it stands for though. Which makes this ever weirder. I mean, you might not be aware of it, but I know a thing or two about acronyms. So the fact that I've never heard of this one is a bit, you know, unsettling and stuff. Maybe it stands for "All Rise for the Crustaceans?" Or is it for "Arthropods Rock the Casbah?" Then again it might simply mean "Aggravatingly Rambunctious Crabs." Who knows? Anyway, I don't know what the shrimp I'm supposed to do with this ARC thing, but I'm told I should be moderately excited about it. And since I aim to please and stuff, I shall try and be as slightly euphoric and somewhat overjoyed as I can. Ergo, time to dance it is.



Yeah, I know, I'm super hairy and therefore super hot. I also happen to have super sexy smooth moves.



But it's my moustache and crazy hip thrust that make me totally irresistible. Just so you know.

I am above them. I am the epitome of perfection. I am Pride. Or, I was. Until the day the veil fell, and I fell with it.

Pippa DaCosta is a wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am. By that I mean she hits the ground running in her stories and doesn’t spend a ton of time on descriptions, the general scenery and what everyone is wearing. No instead it is action, action, action, funny dialogue, heartbreaking scene, surprise turn, big fight, Ta-da the end and take a bow.



This book is told completely from Li’el’s PoV and that made it all the better. He is fantastic and I really love his mojo. He is a demon who has decided to be and Angel, well at least to Los Angeles and the people in it. He was the Price of Pride, the literal devil of legend and now well now he is something else.

“You caught me because I allowed it. You walk freely because I allow it. You’re alive because I haven’t killed you. It’s really quite simple. I am the predator here, and you are my bitch.”

I’m not going to say much about the plot since it needs to be experienced. But I will tell my fellow lovers of the Veil series that I was extraordinarily happy to see a few cast members from the original veil series. *cough* Akil *cough* I still love that guy. But my big surprise was that I was happy when Adam Harper showed up. Who knew?

“Gamma wouldn’t have survived without you.”
And he was talking again, filling a perfectly good silence. “You underestimate her.”
“No, I don’t think so. As tough as she is, she’s also fragile.”
“What you see as fragile, I see as strength.”
“We will have to agree to disagree.”
I chuckled dryly. “As humans go, you have the unenviable talent of being able to infuriate everyone and everything around you.How have you survived this long? I genuinely want to know.”

LOL me too. He is like a cat with all of his lives or a cockroach. Probably closer to the cockroach since I can't imagining wanting to ever snuggle Adam.

This was a rocket ship ride with a trip into hell better known as the other side of the Veil. Pippa can always surprise me. I wasn’t expecting a few of the deaths that happened, I didn’t expect to see a few of the characters I did and the bad guy….well that was a surprise too.



This can’t be the end right? Even though I really like where this series ended overall I think there are so many more stories to be told in this world. Pippa I’m begging you now for a story with the Mad Queen and King or dare I hope…..Akil. PLEASE!!!! there has to be more.

I didn’t love love the first two books of this series. They were 3 star reads for me. But the revamp with Li’el in the lead totally made the book and this is probably one of my favorites written by miss DaCosta. I’m not ready to move on from this world yet and I hope *crosses fingers* that she isn’t either.

It's no secret that I'm a huge Pippa DaCosta fangirl, I've loved every book she's ever written but the Veil books have a special place in my heart because it's the first of her series that I ever read & it's what got me hooked on her writing to start with. The Chaos Rises spin off series has been just as fantastic, if not better, than the original one and when Pippa announced that the book would be told from Li'el (Prince of Pride)'s point of view I was over the moon. His character has fascinated me from the first time we met him and throw in a guest appearance from Akil and you pretty much have the demon dream team right there.

I really don't want to say too much about this story but I will tell you that it was even better than I could ever have imagined. Li'el is such an incredibly complex character, he's lived for thousands of years, most of them on the other side of the Veil in the demon realm, but his time amongst humans has changed him. He definitely isn't a reformed man but he isn't pure evil anymore either, it takes time to dig deep into his motives and figure out what he really wants and I think half of the time he's not too sure of the answer to that question himself. Life should be much easier for him now that the tear in the Veil is closed but typically humans just don't know when to leave well alone and it shouldn't surprise anyone to hear they find a way to make an even bigger mess of things. Li'el is facing an impossible enemy and the only people he has to work with are just as likely to turn on him as they are to have his back.

Chaos Falls is full of twists, totally action packed and an emotional rollercoaster that will leave you breathless and smiling at the end. I loved getting the chance to see some familiar faces from the previous books and meeting some new ones but it was Li'el who totally stole the limelight, not that you could expect anything else from a Prince of Pride! This was a fitting end to a fantastic series, I'm sad it's over but it definitely went out with a bang and I'm looking forward to the next adventure Pippa is sure to take us on.

Post-publication date review:

Li’el will be the death of me. But I’ll die happy with a huge grin on my face, because I’ve suffocated laughing. You just need to read the acknowledgments to be incapacitated by his incredible charisma. As I sit here leafing through my notes and highlights in preparation for writing this review I can’t help but notice that most of them are one liners from our beloved Prince of Pride. And I burst out laughing every now and then when reading. Thankfully this time I’m not trying to write a review while pretending to work. It just won’t work with Li’el’s magnificence. I’m debating whether I should fill these pages with quotes or not. I’m a bit scared that if I start I won’t stop and this will just turn into a repository for Li’el’s wit and charm. And I swear I can hear him whisper in my ear “Do it!”. And of course he would want that. As someone (won’t say who so you’d read the book to find out) pointed out Li’el’s an attention whore. I’m sorry I can’t help myself. Here’s one:

”If perfection was a crime, I would be serving a life sentence.”

In this latest, but hopefully not last, installment of the Chaos Rises series, the Goddess Pippa DaCosta again did the impossible time and again. The one thing I was most impressed by was her ability to manipulate my feelings. More specifically she made me feel regret over Adam Harper’s death. Yes, you read that right, my dears, I felt regret over ADAM HARPER’S GRUSOME DEATH! I still can’t believe that. I need to have my head checked because I distinctly remember me bitching at the end of the previous book that he was still alive. I’ve been howling for his death since Beyond the Veil and now I feel bad that he finally got what he deserves? What kind of sorcery is this? Who did you sold your soul to, Pippa? No, really! I demand an explanation! You wreck me time and again and then you pull a stunt like this! I’m speechless and bow to your incredible talent!
Talking about emotions and what this book did to me, I have to warn you, fellow readers, that this book will slay you. Do not, I repeat, do not get attached to characters. I thought I had learned that lesson after reading almost all of Ms. DaCosta’s books but apparently my foolish heart has other ideas. So on more than one occasions said heart stopped beating for a second or two and is now a bleeding wreck. Because Li’el deserved better. He deserved a chance at happiness with someone who could see beyond the acts. And I hope that one day he will meet someone that will give that to him.
For me this book was about change and the ability to change. To evolve as Li’el would say. And I’m not speaking of the demons only. One of the constants of the Veil universe is Adam Harper in his role as the Ultimate Asshole. He showed some potential for change in the previous book but as a whole he makes the demons look like the good guys. Okay I might have exaggerated a bit but he at least is as bad as most demons. Or at least he used to be. So when he showed up here my reaction was “We can’t get rid of you, can we?” But then he spoke of Gem and said one of the sweetest things that could come out of his mouth: “Gemma Harper”. Not project Gamma, Gemma Harper – his daughter. That more than anything else made my heart melt a little. I still can’t and will not forgive him the monstrous acts he committed in the name of science but he really has changed. Li’el and Akil are other examples of change. They’re still themselves – conniving, cruel and magnificent but with that little extra thing they learned from humans. And that makes them more than just demon. Talking about Akil (yes he shows up, no I do not consider that a spoiler since Pippa posted a quote from him on social media long before the book was out), he and Li’el should have shared more pagetime together. Because their dialogues are the most hilarious thing ever! I’ll just paste this quote here so you can have an idea what it’s like to have them both in the same room:

”Are you sure you two aren’t romantically involved? You could cut the sexual tension with a knife.”

And now onto the last point I want to make. It’s valid for all of Pippa’s books, I just need to say it again. The reason why I love her books is this: she manages to surprise me. You see after reading a certain amount of books things start to get more and more predictable. After a while it’s not so much about the plot as it is about the way that plot is executed. Usually I have all the major plotpoints figured out way ahead of time. So when books like this one (and all the rest of Pippa’s books for that matter) pull of plot twists I never saw coming I can’t help myself but treasure them. I rejoice at the feeling of surprise and wonder that these special books provide. It’s a rare thing and Pippa managed to pull it off not once but twice in this book. The second one was so out of the blue that it left me disoriented for a few seconds. And that right there is why these measly 5 stars I’m forced to use are so inadequate.
P.S. This book opens the possibility for several spin-offs. One of course being all about Li’el and let’s not kid ourselves we’d all love to read it. However, I’m more interested in a Netherworld spin-off to tell us what happens with Akil and the Mad Queen. And let’s not forget a proper ending for Gen and Torrent. Preferably with a bunch of quarter-human babies in it 

5 stars is such an insulting rating for something as brilliant as this book, I can't even find the words to express it's inadequacy. Unfortunately it will have to do *sigh*

Writing a non-spoilery review will be a difficult task because so many of the things I want to talk about revolve around some major spoilers. So I will leave most of what I want to say for when I can post my real review in less than two weeks time. How I'll manage not to talk about it for so long is a mystery.

First I want to say that this is the best book Pippa's written so far. It has everything I've come to expect from her - humour, incredible battles, heart wrenching scenes and characters that are so fleshed out that you can believe that they're really out there in the real world. This book slew me. I am an emotional wreck that can't decide whether to laugh or cry. I'm filled with wonder at what Pippa managed to pull off. I know I sound like a brainwashed puppet but bear with me for a second. How many books have you read? I've read a lot and as the number grows I get surprised less and less. You see, after a while you've seen it all in a various different ways. So things get predictable to the point that I've turned figuring out the plot ahead of time in a game I play with my fellow buddy readers or with myself in the rare cases when I don't have a company for a certain book. I try to do that with Pippa's books and I fail every single time. And that's why I adore her and why every book she writes is an automatic pre-order for me. And if you haven't read her wonderful series I suggest you go grab the first Chaos book right now. You have just enough time to catch up before Chaos Falls is out.

3.5-4ish
Well, this one was a lot better!


Maybe it's because I've really wanted this series to be great, but yeah, this read is different from the previous two.

It has a totally different MC, the whole plot is different. I really have no idea why this is part of the previous series. Yes, it's in the same world, but this is different. You don't even need to have read the previous books for this one.

Why not more than 3.5?
Well, frankly, because I wanted more. It felt a bit rushed at times and there could have been a lot more books with this protagonist.
Plus, there were some things that didn't really make sense for me.
And, at times, it didn't really feel 'real', you know? It was a bit much and not in line with the character.

Anyway, all in all, this is what I wanted when I started reading this series, yet all I got was 1/3 books and that was not enough.

Now this is what I wanted from the Chaos series, a story from a demonic prince's POV. Finally! ;-)

I mean, who can resist the Prince of Pride himself. Not I;-) He lives up to his title - gloriously so. Yet I believe I fell in love with his more vulnerable side most of all.

Can demons really evolve, though? Develop feeling of empathy, even love?

This is put to the test in Chaos Falls as old enemies must reunite to save the world from itself when an experiment that seeks to draw eco friendly energy from the Veil goes terribly wrong.

Chaos Falls brings back some of the main characters from the Chaos series and the Veil series one more time. (Hopefully this is just the first of many such reencounters!)

I'm not gonna spoil it for you guys. Let's just say that one of these demons is a particular favorite of mine;-) Hearing how he's still longing after Muse, yet doesn't grab her from Stefan's undeserving clutches, was as sweet as it was a bitter pill to swallow. Team Akil/Mammon AAALLLL the way! But perhaps now, Pippa could make a whole new series based in the Netherworld and Mammon's plans for the mad Queen instead. Huh, Pippa; doesn't that seem like s cool idea!? Say yes, won't you??? *Puppy dog eyes*

I remember complaining in the second book about the lack of resolution regarding the Torrent/Gem situation. Well, that was remedied - somewhat - in the epilogue of this novel. It was perhaps one of my favorite chapters... At least if that stubborn, schizophrenic demon gets his head out of the sand!... *Sigh*

About the note from Li'el: Squee, he likes me, he likes me! He said that I'm fine (and have great taste in music. See, I'm his match in all ways, can't you tell how proud I am? Haha. *Cue shameless gloating over the fact that Li'el is mine, not yours!* My demonic harem is only missing my darling Greed... But that can be remedied, I'm sure. Why, you ask? This passage from Chaos Falls should give you an inkling.

“I’m afraid to ask what it meant.”

“It’s probably best you don’t know.” I may have suggested she and I get personal in all the right ways, and many of the wrong ways too. Especially the wrong ones. “I suggest not repeating it in demon company.”
She laughed loud enough for Christian to shoot us a scathing glare. “Did you teach me how to swear in demon?” I tempered my smile. “Something like that.”

--> See, all i have to do is coax Li'el into teaching me the same phrase! I need it to woo a certain Prince of Hell;-) Wish me luck, ladies!

I thought this book would be about Gem but instead I got Li'el and I loved it.

I enjoyed this book the most in this series and I think it's because Li'el is far more relatable than Gem ever was. I can't say I understood why he cared about her or how knowing her managed to change him really because I thought his incarceration did that but whatevs.

Also I've read Akhil and Muse's story like last year but I can't remember shit about it. Soooo the whole Akhil acting weird when he heard about Muse went totally over my head.

After reading the Veil series, I didn't think there could be another demon that could challenge my love for Akil. Then I met Li'el, Prince of Pride.

"Awesome was surely too small a word for me. Magnificent, glorious, resplendent—those were adjectives I could get behind."

Li'el loves LA and the people there. Glorying in their attention and adoration—he is the Prince of Pride after all—he's become protective of them as if they were his own. So when humans start dying in suspicious attacks surrounding Li'el's business, he attempts to find out what is happening.

Until he falls under law enforcement's watchful gaze.

Leary of demons since the last fall of the Veil, prejudice for his kind is rife. With Li'el's power dwindling and enemies mounting, he worries about what is to come and how long he will be able to protect what is his.



I started this book late at night thinking, "Oh, I'll just read a little bit before bed." Next thing I know, it's 3 AM and I couldn't care less that I had to get up in a few hours. I wanted to keep reading.

The author gives a pitch-perfect voice to Li'el as Pride; even as he evolves, he never once drops his swagger. His ego and bravado became an endearing quality that had me chuckling in affection.

With a quick pace, this plot packs a wallop of action and emotion and brings back a cast of characters that I adored from previous Veil and Chaos Rises series books. It's a touch of the Infinity Wars gone demon that had me glued to my Kindle.

While the resolution was a satisfying one, it left open several possibilities for new books or spin-offs and that makes me SO FREAKIN' HAPPY! I'll cross my fingers for new books on both sides of the Veil (One for Gem and one for Akil.). Hey, a girl can dream.

I love the characters and the great descriptions that captured my imagination. LA is turning into a war zone and the demon, Pride, is doing all he can to save the city. How far is he willing to go to save his beloved city? This story is action-packed and full of danger, suspense, murders, demons, destruction and intrigue. This book captured my attention in the first chapter and I was hooked. I loved this book.

This was an absolute roller coaster of a story, it made me laugh, gasp, and whisper "Oh, no!" To myself every few minutes it seemed like! I loved how Pippa brought Akil and Li'el together, I've long thought that they would make a spectacular story together, and sure enough, they did! Each book Ms. DaCosta puts out is better than the last, and the sheer complexity of each story is amazing. I can't think of anything that I didn't like about this story, and it will appeal to just about everybody! Thank you so very much for the opportunity to review this work, it was fabulous!

Loved it!!

I love all Pippa DaCosta’s books and this series is one of her best! In it, we were given the inside scoop on the demon Pride, also known by his human guise Li’el. Los Angeles socialite, restauranteur, pleasure giver, he is just so full of himself. Yet he is not like the other demons. He truly loves humans and wants nothing more than to live out his life, with them worshipping him as they always have.

Unfortunately there are lesser demons murdering the humans of his city around his restaurant, with someone in control trying to set him up, and there are a few demon hunters with bad cases of one tracked mindedness that are hell bent on making him their prize trophy. Add in a young human police woman that Li’el starts developing some very human emotions for, the veil falling (again), and the end of humanity and the netherworld, and the Prince of Pride has his work cut out for him if he plans on protecting his city and its inhabitants.

I don’t wish to give away big details of the plot line, but if you like this type of genre, you should definitely give it a go! Pippa DaCosta has an awesome imagination and is a master at storytelling!!!

Li'el, Li'el, oh how I adore thee. You most certainly are a demon unlike any other.

Wow this book took me on a journey and, like any really fantastic book, left me wanting more. More Li'el, more Mammon/Akil (I'm sorry my Angel of Vengeance but I love him too), more Gem and Torrent/Kar'ak.

I can't explain how amazing these books are, how good the writing is, the uniqueness of the plot not the depth and complexity of the characters. The books are like onions, made up of layer upon layer that is gradually peeled back, revealing one amazing plot twist after another.

This world just doesn't get old or tired, each story has brings something new. The plot is never predictable and **warning** this one has a few ,b>totally gutting parts. The action is non-stop, with a pace that kept me gripped in the story without moving too quickly.

This is very much Li'el's story but also included other characters, both familiar and new. Some of them you will love, others you will like, some you'll despise and a few you will hate but like all well crafted characters they all inspire emotion.

I enjoyed this book (and indeed the whole series) so much that I'm not prepared to let go of this world. Indeed I am hoping the epilogue does imply future works involving some (or all) of the characters.

I won all three books to this series and I totally loved all three! I think my favorite was #2 Chaos Unleashed but #3 Chaos Falls is also great. Well #1 Chaos Rises is great too! LOL can't make up my mind. Who would have thought you could actually get so involved with some demons that you would be cheering for them! Of course then there are demons who are "demons" and you can't wait until someone does them in! I found myself loving the Prince of Pride who is basically the devil - he tries so hard to change and be a good guy. Obviously Pippa DaCosta is one fantastic author to make the Devil likeable, as in real life he is not on my list "to like" in any way, shape or form. Gem (Gamma) is another character that you find yourself on her side. She is half human/half demon. Yes, she kills bad demons, but she was made to do that. You have to read all three in order to get the full effect of the story. There are so many good characters, both demon and human that you will find yourself having a hard time putting the books down! I thank Goodreads for the opportunity of winning these books and Pippa for being such a great story teller.

Chaos Falls, what can I say? Absolutely loved it, Li,el, the Demon Prince of Pride lives up to his name, some would even say his the Devil himself. The story is told from Li,els POV which is splendid and he really gets into your head. We meet up again with some old characters from the chaos and veil series, I won’t tell you who, but their some favourites. Pippa takes you on another roller coaster ride with this one, just when you think you have it worked out, you haven’t. Can Demons change, Li,el loves living in his city of LA, and when hell breaks loose in it he puts all his demonic glory in to saving it, but at what cost? And when you think perhaps he has changed he turns around and does something his always done, and your left screaming at the Author why did you that. I recommend this fantastic book and can’t write all I want to invade of spoilers, and I certainly hope that this isn’t the last we see of Li,el, as this is meant to be the last book. But Never say Never. Thank you Pippa for another fantastic book.

This book (and the others in this series/set in this world) may be mainly about demons, but these demons struggle with their humanity, their weaknesses and strengths in such a way that it is crystalized down to it to its rawest, most nakedly vulnerable form; they made me laugh, and cry and rage … I hurt with them when they were in pain and felt any ache in my heart for their love. It’s a great story, full of everything you want from an urban fantasy but it’s also one that makes you stop and think about the choices we make in our lives and how they not only affect what we do but who we are and who we become.

I re-read the first two in the series when I got my hands on this one and I can honestly say that this is one of the best urban fantasy series that I’ve read in a long time. It isn’t often that I’m sad that I’ve finished a book … but I certainly was with this one because the characters will no longer be with me and they’ve all managed to somehow burrow their way into my heart.

I read a lot of books … about 5 or so a week … and while I usually breeze through them in a few hours, my heart felt so much for these characters and with these characters that I found myself going back and re-reading sections because I wasn’t ready to let them or the feelings go. I can usually see the twists and turns that are coming in any given book; so many authors, while great writers, are just plain predictable and it’s too easy to give the conclusion away but Pippa DaCosta doesn’t share this predictability. I was surprised and takin in directions I never thought the books would go while still being completely immersed in them because even if I didn’t expect what happened, the characters always stay true to themselves; there’s never a point when (as with some other books) I stopped and said, wait a minute … they wouldn’t have done that!

If you’ve read the other two books and/or the rest of the veil group of books, you already know you’re going to love this one. Just go ahead and download it. If you haven’t, you need to! You can read Chaos Rises (the first in this group of novels) but I suggest you start with Beyond the Veil, you’ll thank me, I promise.

"Chaos Falls" is the first book in the Chaos Rises series told from the point of view of Li'el, Prince of Pride. He is a restaurateur, socialite and otherwise badass of Los Angeles and he deems L.A. his turf. However, when a series of grizzly murders occur around his restaurant, Li'el is the number one suspect. Detective Marianna Ramirez would rather shoot a demon first and ask questions later especially since demons were responsible for killing her family. Yet, when she meets Li'el she believes that he just might be the demon who will be able to save the city.

There is another person out there who has a different plan in mind, Christian. He is ex Marine and a demon hunter. He captures Li'el and holds him captive for the world to see for two years; but, after humans make a stupid mistake by trying to harness power they end up opening the veil. Now, he will have to go to Li'el for assistance.

There is so much going on in the pages of this book. Deception, intrigue and hope color every page. I truly enjoyed the cockiness of Li'el and that is truly saying something because usually I enjoy seeing over confident jerks taken down a peg but not with him. There is something so endearing about Li'el. It was great to see many of the other characters interact in this read like Gem and Torrent. Additionally, there was one very sad moment for me that I won't disclose. It just seems like these demon cannot find any happiness for more than a millisecond. Yet, the ending left me hopeful that maybe there might be some love brewing on the horizon. I hope so. I cannot wait to read book four. It promises to be interesting.

This book is the third one in the Chaos Rises series. Li'el is enjoying LA in every way possible that he can since most of the demons have left. However, his idyllic existence is interrupted when dead bodies that have been shredded apart like a demon kill are piling up near his place, and as the one of the only demons left, he’s the prime suspect. Then things go from really bad to apocalyptic bad, and Li'el may have to let his demon side lose even if it means killing those he feels are his own to save humanity. OMG! This book just blew me away! I’m always so surprised at how much I love this author’s writing, and I really shouldn’t be, as she consistently delivers great writing, plots, and characters! In this latest book by her, we get to see old friends, and I loved how they contributed to the story. One character really got on my nerves, as he was supposed to, and I was very surprised at how he ended up. I can’t say too much or I’ll ruin it, but I will say “Bravo!” And, I just loved Li'el as a main character, and I'd love to see more of him! If you love this series, you will love this latest. If you haven’t read it, please do so; it’s a great one! Highly recommend! Thanks to the author for the e-copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

I've been reading along with Ms DaCosta since her Veil series kicked off. I make no secret of being a fan of all her works, but I would be lying if I didn't say that Akil stole my heart. Li'el is hotness, let it be said, but he's no Akil. It has been wonderful having this spin-off Veil series, with glimpses of the original storyline and beloved characters, and never as much as in this the final Chaos Rises book.

In Chaos Falls, we finally get resolution in a number of areas, not the least of which is the "what HAPPENED to Torrent?" dilemma, with us hoping against hope that Gem has a HEA. With demons flooding the earth, with chaos reigning supreme, and with the Institute finally in ruins (although will Adam EVER give up?!), it's up to the demons and half-bloods to make everything whole again.

The finale to this series did not disappoint - and will make me miss the world of the Veil all over again.

To be honest I REALLY didnt want to read this book!! Ever get to the final book in a series and you hesitate, knowing its really the end and not wanting it to end? That was me with this book!!
But as usual its well worth it. Pippa always knows how to tug at your heartstrings with these characters. What can I say about Li'el? Hes one smug S.O.B but man do you grow to love his style and wit lol.
It was good to see some of the old cast especially Akil!!! I know Im not the only one begging Pippa to write his story! I got the feeling there was more to him and a certain queen!

The action is non stop, there are characters you love and some you hate but overall it was a great ride.

Oh, how I've missed the demons so much! And terribly sad this is the end. :( If you are a fan of the Chaos and Veil series, you will love this book. I thought it was great. It didn't take long to read and finish the book. Once I was on a roll, reading the story was all I wanted to do every day! I was so happy that Pippa brought back a couple of the previous demons! :)

Pippa, please, PLEASE bring back these demons with a new series!!

Such an excellent eye opening story! Pride is such an interesting character! We find the story has action, mystery, meaning, humor and some really good friends. Gem, Adam, Noah, Torrent and a few more friends make this excellent book and series easy to recommend! Read an enjoy as I look forward to the next book!

Pippa DaCosta is one of the few authors that I buy the book without even reading what is about because I know when I read the book it will always be good! Love the Chaos series! Definitely looking forward to more. I don’t know which demon has got to me more. But like Liel says he is too magnificent to not enjoy!
