There is a lot that sets this book off from other romances. For one thing, Jordie has a child out of wedlock and suffers terrible consequences because of it. She's dumped by the guy that took advantage of her innocence, thrown out of her home by her family, and shunned by everyone. On her own, she has a baby and raises him for the next seven years.
I really liked Jordie a lot. She's completely unprepared for everything that is thrown at her, yet she rises up and meets the challenge of taking care of herself and her son. When her father gives her an ultimatum, get married or suffer even worse consequences, she agrees, but on her own terms.
The book is a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Jordie is fiery tempered to say the least. She talks back to everyone, and doesn't back down when she thinks she's right. Whatever people dish out, she returns, double! As much as I admire Jordie, the story became overwrought in some places. There was a lot of emotional repetition.
Not a whole lot of plot, but if you want a heroine you can root for, then give Jordie's book a try.
