October 15, 2025Descendants 2: Uma’s Wicked Book For Villain Kids
This one can be SKIPPED as well. If you want to know more about the Isle and it’s locations and television shows and survival tips (etc) you might find this interesting. (I think those were the two things of interest I noted-) BUT what I really thought about after I finished this book was how I’m starting to not think so highly of King Beast. Throughout this (and the other Descendants books) we learn about the Isle. There’s no electricity. There’s no internet. There’s only a select few channels. They’re living situations are crap. Their homes are falling apart. They get nasty food and hand-me-downs that people don’t want in Auradon.
Ok, so yes. Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Cruella, the Sea Witch, Lady Tremaine, Hook, Jafar and all the rest of them have to face the consequences of what they did. You can’t just go around stealing lamps, and poisoning people with apples, and cursing kingdoms to sleep for 100 years and just expect nothing. And that makes me think of a world-wide event that’s been all over the news. Actions have CONSEQUENCES! You do the crime; you do the time. But to punish everyone on the Isle by practically having the option of either eating toxic foods and drinks (moldy and stale) and buildings that are practically falling down in just CRUEL! And I thought the lesson that the enchantress put on the Beast was trying to teach him AGAINST THIS.
If you want to punish the Villains themselves and lock them up in a facility in isolation were you give them limited access to entertainment, and not that great food (even tho I still think they should get EATIBLE food). But not everyone (their kids) should have to pay for the mistakes their parents made. And I think Ben is half ***. He’s “opened up the school” BUT only to “selected VK”. SELECTED! He’s saying with his mouth “I think they all should have the same opportunities” BUT… Would it REALLY be that hard to extend Auradon Prep? Any VK who wants to go to AP *should* be able to go to Aurdaon Prep. It’s just like in the School of Good and Evil. EXACTLY like in the School of Good and Evil when the message is who really is “good” and “evil”. Sometimes the “Good” side isn’t as good as they’d have you believe.
Now what made the strongestt impression on me about this book wasn’t the Survival Guide itself. It was Uma’s commentary on her conflicting emotions about the Isle. She says “IF YOU’VE SPEND ON THE ISLE YOU START TO WONDER IF YOULL EVER GET OFF IT (CLAUSTAPHOBIC) PART OF ME IS ALWAYS THINKING ABOUT ESCAPING THE ILSE WONDERS WHY MAL WAS BETTER AND SHE DIDN’T GET PICKED SHE SAYS SHE DESERVES IT AND WE DO TO.” And I could relate very strongly to what it’s like to feel like your trapped in a place that you dream about escaping and it doesn’t feel like you ever will but you keep hoping.

I love this book and Uma is awesome! This book is similar to the book for Auradon prep students, However, Uma has created a guide to help those kids still on the Isle of the Lost to survive and thrive. We get to learn more about life on the Isle! This book covers topics like schooling and popular places to eat. A must-have for Descendants fans!
