Love? Marriage? Lady Christina Rowan, Dowager-Marchesse of Stanhope, doesn't think so. She avoids both heavy emotions and heavy commitments, and has ever since she discovered the truth behind her first husband's death. As a widow she's found freedom in having lovers without love. When she began to have feelings for her current lover, Benedict Windham, brother to the Duke of Manchester, she immediately cuts him loose before she can become too attached.
Or so she thought.
Time away from Christina has made Benedict realize how deep his own feelings for her run; not only is she the most exciting lover he's ever had, he's actually fallen in love with her. So when he returns to London for the Season, he's determined to court his former lover and turn her into his wife.
This book contains spanking, BDSM, an alpha male, an amorous but emotionally reluctant heroine, and a lot of naughty, scandalous fun.
Golden Angel is a USA Today best-selling author of heart and bottom warming romance.
She is happily married, old enough to know better but still too young to care, and a big fan of happily-ever-afters, strong heroes and heroines, and sizzling chemistry.
When not in front of her computer writing, she can be found sewing her next project, hanging out with friends, or wandering the grounds of the Maryland Renaissance Festival.
Ms Angel is one of my favorite authors! I just love her writing style and the way she makes me see her characters as real people.
This story is about Benedict(the hero's brother from Lydia's Penance) and Christina. The story starts with Benedict being broke up with(which was lots of fun, since the guys usually do this). It fast forwards a few weeks and we find out that Benedict has realized that he's fallen in love with Christina.
Christina is a widow who enjoys her independence. She also enjoys choosing her own lovers and not depending on a man's whim. She's been in an unhappy marriage and doesn't want a repeat performance. As you can see Benedict has his work cut out for him. Fortunately for us he doesn't give up in the face of adversity so we'll enjoy some funny scenes, some displays of jealousy and some steamy making up scenes.
I enjoyed catching up with past characters, I'm kind of tempted to reread the whole series really. I'm also curious to learn more of Arabella and, hopefully, the Marquise of Hrtford(Michael). All in all this was a lovely addition to the series with Ms Angel's usual attention to detail and plain fun.
PS: This book, as all the series, has domestic discipline scenes.
The h was hurt by her marriage, so decides it's better if she controls her life, and her lovers. I liked her and was pleased the H determined very quickly they would marry. He quietly arranged to gets things done, for her. I liked the slightly more serious tone to this couple.
Not a favorite one but a good read at least :) Easy to digest.Take it as what it is-albeit I need enlightenment regarding which category this one falls under 😝 Ps:What I love about these series is the relationship between the guys and the women.Their friendship groups and dialogues though not historically correct, are sweetam and funny at the same time.
This series is só good! I love each and every member of this growing family of spanked ladies and their spanking husbands. This one is about Benedict,Isaac and Arabella’s brother, who falls for Christina,a lovely widow. Not just lovely, but lonely and afraid to love another man after losing her late husband the way she did. My heart broke for her and i was só happy to hear Benedict wanted her as his wife. He is just the man she needs, but you’ll find out when you read their story.... Love them both!
I really enjoy reading historical romance and this book did not disappoint. I really enjoyed how the author managed to work into the story more BDSM than is usually in a historical romance. This was the first book I read int he Bridal Discipline series and I am looking forward to reading some of the other books in this series.
The story starts out with a prologue in which Benedict gets his congè from his lover Lady Christina in a letter, after missing her for some months he decides that he loves her and does not want to live with out her and so he would get married to her. When Benedict asks her however, Christina turns him down. However Benedict refuses to give up and he is determined in his efforts to get Christina to marry him. So he is going to pursue her. One night when Christina is leaving from a party Benedict is waiting by his carriage with Christina’s carriage no where to be found as it was sent home. So Christina doesn’t see much of any alternative and gets into Benedict’s. Then instead of taking Christina to her home, Benedict takes her to his place and then directly up stairs to his bed. Once Christina is in bed, Benedict blind folds her and binds her wrists, then he has sex with her and makes for the three times in the process. It is a hot scene. Determined to marry her regardless, Benedict lets his friends know what he is planning and kidnapps Christina and takes her to Gretna Green in Scotland so that they might be married forthwith, once there at Gretna Green Christina cooperates and agrees to be married. Next we have a splendid HEA and then finally an Epilogue with a teaser for the final book in the series Arabella’s Taming.
I really love this book along with all of the others in this series and this is the second time I have read all of them
Note: that the story contains a hot butt stuff scene that I thought was really good.
Aww this story didn’t disappoint! The dynamics and backstory were different than the usual. Maybe that’s why I also enjoyed it? . Benedict and Christina were a great duo. They already were lovers so there wasn’t any of that antsy virginal love. I love how he knew what he wanted and how he was going to get it. Nothing was going to stop him. Their 🌶🌶 was great! And they were so I tune with one another. . I only just realised that Mary and Rex get introduced as characters in this series! Now I wanna read Season of Spies again!!! . I loved how this time round you had the women come together to take down the enemy! Ultimate girl power! 💪🏽 . There is a lot of in head thought and self dialogue in this book, I personally didn’t mind it. One this I would prefer with the epilogues would be for them to have been years later/further down the line. And then the snippet for the next book. . I am looking forward to reading the next/last book in this series as I have found Arabella to be rather entertaining, the only downside is that I’m sure bloody Gabrielle is sadly going to feature quite a bit in it! I literally can’t stand her!
Golden Angel prides herself on pushing the boundaries of love. Once the shock wears off, readers get tales of courageous women, roguish men and sensual delight. Unconventional but charming all the same. Benedict and Christina are on the verge of something special, until fear gets in the way. Can a man in love convince his heart's desire to let him into her heart, permanently? Benedict's Command takes the naughty route to love but with really emotional twists.
So nice to return to the domestic discipline couples
While I enjoyed the main couple and their journey to a happy relationship through spankings and sexy times as well among the ton in Victorian London, I was also happy to get updates about the previous pairs.
I received an audiobook code from the author, without any expectations, and wrote this review voluntarily. My opinions are my own and my review is unbiased.
Love seeing a story where the woman knows what she wants and doesn't make excuses for it. She doesn't want marriage but I love how Benedict doesn't give up. The story is fun and sexy and I loved their scenes together.
A story that's different from the norm, yet the characters are still so full of life that one can't help but fall in love with them (or some old favourites over again). Angel has always written beautifully work but this one's the best yet
This is the 4th book in the series of 5, I'm not counting book 1.5.
I think this can be read as a stand alone but will be much more enjoyed if the whole series is read in order.
Christina was burned by her first marriage and says she will never marry again. Benedict is determined to make Christina his bride. This book is about Benedict's chase.
I love how the group of spanked women is growing in each of the books in this series. It's funny to read about them talking with each other and how scandalous they think it is that they are not the only ones that are being spanked and enjoying it. I was happy to read that Christina was not hiding her feelings for Benedict but was being cautious because of her past. Benedict is such a romantic even with her 'discipline'. Although the kink scenes are always well written there just wasn't enough.
I love this series and this book. It's highly addictive. Ms Angel is a brilliant author. I follow her series. The characters are very well written very human and well developed. The storyline is very interesting and easy to read. There are spankings and hot spicy sex. There is also lots of love and support. I really enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to the next one. A hot sexy intriguing interesting read that I highly recommend.
I love Ms. Angel's historical fiction (well really all her books). I've been avidly following her Bridal Discipline series. They have everything I love in a book: wonderful characters, a great story I get caught up in, angst and tension, tons of sexiness, and of course some good old fashioned discipline. This story definitely delivered! And the icing on top of the cake, there is another story to look forward to- Thomas and Arabella's story- which is sure to be another winner.

Review:
Compared to the rest of the books in the series, this book was actually a bit on the tamer side. The couple in the story had already been involved before the story started. There are some flashbacks sprinkled through the story about how they got started and the involvement between then and present day. They had fallen for each other, but the fear of being hurt really struck her and made her afraid to continue forward. This is because of her being insecure. Her late husband had only married her for money and status. The moment they had gotten married, he was already involved with a married woman. A woman who decided that she wanted to do everything in her power to go after married men just because she could.
The worst part about it all is that Christina only found out about her husband's affair because he died trying to run after being caught with his mistress. I totally empathized with her. I also really adored how Christina handled the situation once she came clean with him on why she was acting the way she did. Maybe I should leave it at that just to be on the safe side.
Book 5 in the series, while you don't need to have read the previous books, they do provide a lot of background information on secondary characters appearing here, and having read them adds to reading enjoyment.
Having been hurt and betrayed by her first husband, Christina is determined never to care deeply enough for a man to allow that kind of pain. Once she starts to care for her lovers, she breaks off their affair (only a month in Benedict's case). This is more like a contemporary BDSM relationship rather than the discipline-oriented couples in the previous books. Benedict has some experience as a Dom and indulges in play like bondage and o denial with Christina. But as much as she trusts Benedict to take care of her in the bedroom, she doesn't dare trust him outside of it. I enjoyed Benedict's determination to win her over and found it touching at times.
The usual great characters, chemistry and humor I expect from this author, added in to the growth of trust between Christina and Benedict, all made this my favorite entry in the series so far. Arabella's story might surpass it though and her book can't come soon enough! 5 stars
Christina had already had one bad marriage. There was no way she would ever trust her heart to another man. But Benedict had other sentiments concerning the young widow. They had been lovers, but she had ended it before Christmas. Waiting for the season to start, Benedict had to face his true feelings about Christina. He didn't know how, but she was the most important thing of his life. He told her of his feelings and she scoffed at him. His interest in her would wait if she ignored him. But he purposefully singled her out in public, declaring his feelings for her. He did everything he could think of but enough was enough. After she was caught in the garden with a known rake, his patience was gone. He huddled her into his carriage and off they went. You will have to read the book to find out what happens when she wakes up. I love gothic romances with spankings in involved. They can be quite delightful. This Is definitely a beautiful series of love stories who have happily ever after endings. You will Not get hurt buying this series. I dare you to read these books and not enjoying them.
Benedict's Commands is the fourth book in the Bridal Discipline series. Before I read this one I read the first book, Phillip’s Rules, which I really enjoyed. I generally don’t read romance dealing with discipline, but I love historical romance so I wanted to give this book a chance and try it out. I am happy to say that I really enjoyed this book. The characters where enjoyable. At times, they had me laughing. The main characters were great but the supporting characters also added so much to the story and feeling to the story. I was able to get into this book quickly, I think some of it is because I read the first in the series and really enjoyed it. It was nice to see characters that I read about in the previous book again. I will be looking forward to reading more books in this series. I generally resist buying books getting free listed books on Amazon but I am definitely thinking of buying the rest in the series. *I received a copy of the book for review from the author via Voracious Readers Only*
Oh, once you read this one, you'll understand what I'm saying. Who wouldn't want to be the one who captured the eye of Benedict; The Marquess of Dearborn, brother to the Duke of Manchester and, not full-blown by any stretch of the imagination, a rake. He had pursued and lost, waited patiently for a year, then pursued again the Lady Christina Rowan, Dowager-Marchese of Stanhope as his lover during the short season in London. Just as he was having mixed thoughts about inviting her to the family home for the Yuletide Holidays, he awoke to a note thanking him for a wonderful time together and apologizing for not being able to say goodbye in person. *head shake* WTF just happened? These two personalities had me glued to the pages, chuckling and panting in turn watching as things played out. Golden Angel has an innate ability of putting the best feelings, emotions and actions into print for the reader to receive the fullest experience. I just love it and can't imagine anyone not enjoying it.
Lady Christina Rowan does not become entangled. She cuts loose any man that tries to get to close. Love, not ever again! Not after her disastrous first marriage! Benedict is having fun times with the Lady Christina. Well that is until she cuts the ties and leaves him with nothing but a note. Well Lady Christina had better have another think because she just did something to make Benedict realize that he wanted more than just a quick romp. He wants her for the rest of his life. These two have some hot sexy erotic scenes together! I loved the details that Angel puts in her books. The main characters and the secondary characters are all well developed. The details all fit together between this and throughout the series. As with the other books Angel sets up the next book in this series at the end of the current book. Which makes me glad I have it and don’t have to wait! Now I can’t wait to read the next book!
I was a little hesitant on reading this book. The erotica I've previously read has left me wanting. Yes the sex scenes were good, but the story and characters were lacking. Not so with this one, I love this book and need to know more about the other characters! From the start the characters were well defined and had an actual story to tell you that wasn't confined to the bedroom. The conflict between the two main characters was realistic, but didn't stop there. There is a story and conflict going with the secondary characters as well. The best review I can give a book in a series is to say that I now need to get the other books, I need to know the other characters. That being said, this is a stand alone book and any conflict the main characters have is resolved in the end, but some secondary characters leave you with questions. I received this book from Voracious Readers Only in return for my honest review
Benedict's paramour, Lady Christina, has dumped him by note. Benedict knows she is the one for him, but can he convince her that she is?
I loved this book. Benedict may seem affable in the ballroom or even teasing his brother, but he knows what he wants. And what he wants is Lady Christina, a widow. She was badly hurt in her marriage and has sworn off marriage. She will have her fun with the gentlemen of the ton, but she will not marry. It took a while to get the story of her marriage out in detail. Benedict is patient with her but her jealousy is misplaced with him. I understand why she is jealous when she sees him with the young debutantes, but she does have trust issues.
Benedict does his best to show her that she is who he wants. He dances attendance on her at the balls. He has made his feelings known. I like when he finally has had enough and "kidnaps" her. I also appreciated that he would never discipline her in anger which was a necessary rule because she does get nasty with her jealousy.
There is more in the bedroom scenes than we have seen in any of the earlier books. I liked it as we do not often get a look at how the Victorians (or earlier times) handled some of the kinks. Benedict and Christina complement each other well.
Another great book by this fabulous author! Great historical romance with a lot of steamy scenes. I had no issue reading this as a stand alone despite this being the fourth book within the bridal discipline series, while the book hints at previous events from the other books, it’s easy to infer and follow on. Main characters were strong and sizzling with chemistry and the supporting characters added so much more with comedic relief. Definitely a must read. Golden Angel does not disappoint. I have been a fan of Golden Angels work for some time now and so was thrilled receive a free copy of this book through voracious readers only! Can’t wait for more from this author!
Firstly, even though this book is part of a series, don't be worried if you haven't read the other books (I haven't read all of them) because this is very much enjoyed on its own. This is the story of Benedict & Christina who are both a bit older than the normal 'debutante' characters in stories set in this time period. That makes for a character depth that is a bit more interesting. As usual with this author, there is humour thrown in along with the standard romance which makes for an altogether wonderful few hours spent reading. This story does receive its HEA but the Epilogue does flow into the next book in the series "Arabella's Taming".
Christina loved her husband and he cheated on her. She found out when he died running from the husband of his mistress. It devastated her and she no longer trusts that a man won't break her heart. She had lovers and when she starts to develop feelings she breaks it off.
Benedict is not pleased when she ends their affair. He realizes he loves her and wants to marry her. Convincing her will be difficult. He starts courting her but she doesn't believe that he won't get tired of her.
This is a steamy book with lots of spankings. Benedict introduces her to this erotic behavior and she loves it. If only he could spank her until she trusted him this would be easy.
Benedict, younger brother to Isaac whom Lydia married.. sets his sights on a widowed woman. But Christina is flighty and evasive of his attentions once she starts to catch feelings. Afraid that she'll fall for another man who will tire of her and set his sights on another fashionable lady of the Ton.
Benedict is determined to prove that won't be the case with him with any means necessary.
I listened to the audiobook on scribd which I made it thru but do not recommend. I would have preferred to read the e-book. The young male narrator was so prim and proper. So just keep that in mind.
A good story with characters that are engaging. The sex scenes were vivid and very thoroughly described as well as being numerous. The story itself felt a little simplistic, almost like a device to move between sex scenes rather than the point of the book. The characters, while engaging, could use a little more depth. They feel a little pale, almost like a sketch awaiting the vivid colours and bold lines needed to bring it to life. I received a complimentary copy from Voracious Readers in return for an honest review.
Benedict's Command is the latest edition by Golden Angel in her Bridal Discipline series.
In this book, it was fun to see a departure from the usual characters and plot that I usually expect. Christina is not a naive historical virgin but rather a widow who has lived her life by her terms since her husband passed away. Seeing Christina clash with Benedict is a lot of fun and it's also great to see older characters come in and interact with new ones.
As always, the story is steamy, erotic and a lot of fun.
