"There are so many things I've wanted in this house. So I've been under the illusion that I belong here." Hiro and Radical-san take off for their work retreat. While Hiro's gone, Mao and Daiki are all alone. Has it finally become time for these feelings that have been growing stronger and stronger to be revealed?! And what of the rebirth of the Nakamura home, which only waits for the return of little sister Hina? The bright yet sad story of two childhood friends with an age gap and their life together continues...
At first, I find the illustrations really weird and I thought I'm not going to like this story. But here I am, writing this review. So it must be really good ha.
Well, it is! I love that it wasn't just your cheesy romance story but it also has some depth into it. I love that it was also about family and you know me, I love family stories. So yep, I shed a tear or two while reading this whole series and laugh as well.
I'm not sure how to end this review with a bang you I can be able to convince you to try this out, but it was really good. Promise!
Okay okay okay….!!!! First of all, Sugimoto, I’m done with you! I hope we don’t see her around these parts no more!!!! Gtfo girl! Glad Hiro told her how he felt!!!!
Daiki… no. You can’t have Mao. I don’t have second lead syndrome this go around. Go marry your “cousin” or whatever the hell she is lol.
Chi… Praying at the shrine for someone to cuddle and make out with!!! She’s a pervy girlie!!! Haha
And finally, OMG HIRO!!! A KISS?! I reread that scene at least 10 times. Their flirting was always filled with tension. And now this!!!
OMG the romance part of the series finally started! What a sweet scene of Hiro demonstrating his feelings toward Mao. I almost swooned. Though there were a lot of people I had no idea who they were and what was going on during the camping trip. Taamo not only has a lot of people that look almost exactly the same, but she also does different timelines with people which is very confusing. Can't wait to keep reading.
That kiss seemed forced and weird, and I have a feeling I'm not going to like where this is going. But the library doesn't have all the books, so I probably won't be able to finish it anyway! ...yay?
A solid story with many delightful moments that inspired and uplifted.
Volume Eight focused mostly on the romantic entanglements of the brothers, Hiro & Daiki, as Mao wove her chaotic way through their lives. With five more volumes to go, there are no major resolutions in this volume, but there is a deepening of the characters and their conflicts that will make the resolutions more powerful as they ravel their way to completion.
The art was also in top form. Although most of the art in this volume is adorably rendered and creatively paneled, there are two moments that stand out for me. First of all, the first four pages in Story 32 of Daiki‘s non-confession were sequenced artfully. Such subtle yet powerful facial expressions! I admired and envied Taamo’s skill, panel by panel.
The other art that stood out for me was more of a comparison, really. When Hiro returns home at the end of Story 29, Mao and pooch greet him. The playful and energetic way that Mao was drawn, contrasted with Hiro’s static, deer-in-headlights reaction, drove home the hopelessness of Hiro’s plight. Mao is an elemental storm that is sweeping his heart away. Compare that to the scene in the next story where Hiro wonders intellectually why he isn’t more attracted to Sugimoto-san (Radical-chan). There she is in his mind. Cute, reserved, and immobile like a yield sign in traffic, easily traversed around and forgotten about. Moments like these remind me how simple yet elegant Taamo’s work is.
*O* Me encantoooo!!!!
KYAAAAAAAHHHH!! Hiro kissed Mao!!! They kissed!!!!!! I bet it's Mao's first kiss >o< thanks to Radical-san for confessing, Hiro finally realized what he wants and it is obviously Mao ^-^ I bet it's going to be so awkward for Mao and Hiro next volume. Hihihi my feels~~~ i can't wait!!
A lot of things happened in this volume but the only one that was important was Radical's heart was broken by Hiro and as my favorite character I felt bad for Radical who deserved Hiro.

This manga series is skirt cute so far! I'm speeding through at lightning speed! HIro is endgame right? As much as I like Daiki and feel bad for him, HIro was there first
