Welcome back to Cedar Glen, where cats and dogs may not be what they seem. In fact, you can just about count on meeting things that go bump in the night, even during the day. Home to vampires, weres, and other shifters, all looking for a little fun, a little power, and maybe a life mate. USA Today bestselling paranormal romance author Dakota Cassidy pulls out the stops in What's New, Pussycat? Book 2 of her paranormal romance series Wolf Mates. This is one you won't put down until the last page is turned.
Martine Brooks is in a pickle. Derrick Adams is in a jam.
Pickles and jam. Not exactly a hot combo. Unless the "pickle" is a sultry, sassy cat shifter and the "jam" is a gorgeous hunk of wolf.
Derrick is cursed to die if he doesn't make the woot-woot with his life mate on the night of the next full moon. Martine's been held captive by a power-hungry warlock for six long months, forced to do his bidding before finding herself stuffed in a cat carrier and ditched at a 7-Eleven.
After rescuing her from a dumpster, Derrick and Martine strike a mutually beneficial deal: mate, save a life, walk away—both alive and kicking. Win! Yet, there are kinks in the plan. Like the fact that Martine's one-time captor is on the hunt, planning to extinguish all of her nine lives at once. Or the fact the curse threatening Derrick's life is about to throw him a monster curve ball.
But the biggest kink might prove to be Derrick and Martine themselves, two avowed commitment-phobes…who are beginning to wonder what forever looks like.
Dear readers, if you recognize the title of this book, this is an expanded, revised, revisited, rejuvenated, re-everything'd version of the original Wolf Mates novella, published with a small e-press in 2006 as a stand-alone, also sold in a collection of four stories.
This contemporary paranormal romance adult situations and is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

I read book one in the mood for a fluffy light fun read with minimal brain power needed. I found it comical & so decided to give book two in this series a try. I am clearly really disappointed. I don't have high expectations when reading a fluffy book I expect a thin & simplistic plot. I don't expect much character development or much depth. This book didn't meet my very low expectations it didn't make me laugh smile or elicit any reaction other than yawning & a desperate need for it to end SOON. It is unfathomable how this book received a higher average than the first. It's a one star book IMO, needless to say the big reveal in the end didn't hook me. I refuse to suffer. This isn't a series I'll be following. 1 star.
When I read the first book it was amusing to me and oh such a treat, this second book was just as humorous but had more kinks to keep the reader on their toes.
So happy it worked out for Derrick and Martine like it did!
Dakota Cassidy has done it again. This book was fantastic! In this second book in the series, it picks up right where the first one left off. Derrick finds his life mate in the form of an abandoned kitty in a cat carrier in a dumpster. Martine wakes up in the cat carrier not knowing how she got there. She just knows that she is free for now. She agrees to mate with Derrick and have death sex to save him, in exchange for a no questions asked relationship, leaving with no strings attached later. Derrick knows something serious is going on but agrees to her terms. When things start turning up weird in Cedar Glen, Derrick starts to worry. Can he protect Martine and save his own life in the process?
I have to tell you this book was so much fun to read. The characters are hilarious, strong-minded and determined. Derrick has that I don't need a mate attitude and Martine has had a horrible past that has scared her from relationships. Their chemistry is magnetic and the fit well together, falling into an easy relationship. I am loving the way that Dakota is telling these stories. She leaves each book with an ending that keeps the reader (that's us fans) wanting more. This book ending has you going oh holy hell! All of her characters are unique and have wonderful personalities. The books have a steady pace. And she uses the pace to set up more avenues for more books. She is creating an incredible world in Cedar Glen. Can't wait to see what she has in store next!!!
Way different than the first book. This was more classic novel a lot more serious and way more information no more of the whimsical-ness of Book 1. It makes me wonder if that wasn't a novella or something.
I like both MCs and how the author brought their stories to life. Their individual experiences coloured their lives and put them on their path of needing freedom to be what they thought were their authentic selves. But as with any ideal they got so caught up in believing that was the only path that they deluded themselves into thinking that happiness was not theirs to have.
Best Character Jerry - don't know if he'll get a book but he deserves one. There's more to him than meets the eyes / my mind's eyes
Questions: What's up with the dad? I can't sign on to the belief that he's an asshat especially with his mate believing in him so much. She knows more than she's letting on.
What's up with the tidbit about Viv (JC's friend) why was her supernatural origins (cat) completely glossed over in Book 1? What was the point of bringing her up now? Will she play a part in future stories?
This was a lot of fun! I loved every moment of this book until it got to the final “battle between good and evil”. It’s not that I didn’t like the storyline…the problem was that it wasn’t well written, the mysteries weren’t fleshed out enough for the reader to be satisfied with the big reveals, and too much happened off page. There was a huge expository by the mmc and fmc’s mothers of “Oh, when you weren’t around I contacted this character never mentioned and they gave me all the tools necessary to defeat the bad guy”. Super frustrating because we were never given any indication that the mother’s were even involved or aware of what was going on! I loved the fated romance storyline and the sex scenes hit just right. I’m looking forward to trying the next book in this series.

I love Dakota Cassidy's writing. Her books are usually full of humour, snarky dialogue, great sex, and funny main characters and side kicks. This book was quite good. I think I enjoyed book one a little more, but this one built on the stuff we learnt previously and set us up for the next couple of books. There was humour and silliness, and alphas and all that good stuff in here. No award winner here, but a solid fun easy and very quick read. And sometimes that is exactly what you need.
Really cute stories with hunky guys as the love interest. I do wish there was skip button for the ten pages in a row of sex that happens often in the stories. If you like to read erotica mixed with your books this could be your books. The story was great , well written, I dinged it a star because of the extended sex scenes. I hate stopping the story and scanning to the end of the sex scenes, hoping that I'm not missing something important to the storyline.
I am so disappointed in this book. The premise is good, the dialogue is ok, but with only three spicy scenes in the book, having the third one reused from the second one almost word-for-word in its entirety, left me with such a foul taste in my mouth that I cannot read anything by Dakota Cassidy anymore. I’m so disgusted.
This book for me was less of a shifter novel and more on the paranormal side. Still, there were familiar tropes, and a bit of a thriller aspect. Not necessarily bad, but not quite a 4 star imo. This was my first Dakota Cassidy book and I'm excited to read the first book next. I normally never read a series out of order but Libby availability is cruel sometimes.
Not a favorite, but not bad. Rounding up to 3 stars because the only thing lowering my rating is the sex. There was only a few (yay) but they were repetitive and boring. Probably because I didn't like these two as a couple. I liked them individually though. Ready for the next!
Werewolves, witches, familiars, and a town full of "oddities" . An innate need to mate or die, our hero finds his mate in a dumpster.....and she's a cat 🐱. Some hot sex, humor and some danger. Recommend
Hot cursed werewolves!!!! They have to mate with their mate at the first full moon after meeting them or they die. Also, there is always something impossible about it. Derrick is a werewolf, Martine is a Cat shifting familiar. This is their story
I didn’t think this book was a strong as its predecessor, but I still enjoyed it. The pacing of the first book worked much better for me, while this book laid things out on the table right at the start, and the plot was a bit harder to follow.
And the story continues. Not as much fun and #1 in the series, but love that it continues the story. Fantastic twist at the end which means you have to read book #3 which I did and so worth it.
It was a cute fun read. Something light and fluffy and fast. I am curious how the whole familiar/werewolf, cat/dog baby thing would turn out. It's a little weird. Lol
