A collection of 50 unusual omelet recipes that assume you know how to already make an omelet AND know the difference between an omelet and a frittata.
This is a down and dirty cookbook without any pictures, extremely basic directions and limited ancillary information. I would not recommend this book for beginners as the directions are also extremely basic.
If you’re looking for ideas to kick up your use of eggs that includes ingredients you already have on hand, this book will be a good resource. The BookSumo folks did include a basic values chart for each recipe but that can change with choice of cheeses, fats, meats, etc.
There are recipes to fit any kitchen set up: in a ziplock bag, in a mug, in a pan or roasting dish and using the microwave, oven, stove top or you can translate the directions to another appliance of your choice quite easily. The same holds true with the size of the recipes. As they exist, they range from single serving to 6-7 servings but with such simple ingredients you can easily adjust to meet the size of your group.
Some of the more interesting recipes include: Mexican Steamed, Peas & Parmesan, American Crab, Eggplant & Tomato and Japanese Rice.
For the right cook that has expectations as forewarned here, this is a nice add on for cookbook collectors📚
How many ways are there to make an omelet? With a sauté pan, you say? Omelet Cookbook: An Omelet Cookbook Filled with 50 Delicious Omelet Recipes will enlighten you that there are many: in the oven, boiled in a Ziploc bag, microwaved in a mug, baked in a muffin tin (great for freezing for easy on-the-go breakfasts). This cookbook has some quick and wonderful recipes, most of which are perfect for keto and low-carb diets. And as a special treat, I got this cookbook for free in the Kindle format. I couldn’t ask for more!
I liked the simplicity of the recipes and I love omelets so this is an easy book for me to like. The one thing I didn't like about it was how many had to be baked in the oven.
Omelet Cookbook: An Omelet Cookbook Filled with 50 Delicious Omelet Recipes by BookSumo Press About the author and short intro about the book. TOC where recipes are listed, not in any specific order. Chart of common abbreviations are listed. We have omelets every Sunday so looking for new flavor combinations. Each reicpe starts with a title and List of ingredients and you should be able to substitute for your healthier dietary needs: low fat, low sodium, low sugar and fresh vs canned items. Directions are given. Servings are given in size of portion: prep cook and total times are listed. Nutritional information per 2k calorie diet: calories, fat, carbs, protein, cholesterol and sodium. There are NO pictures. Love simple omeet as it uses liquid egg whites, very healthy. Some contain a LOT of ingredients, be sure to have them all before you start. Got a few new ideas for me to try.
Many, many ideas to try, from simple ham and cheese ones to crab ones. Recipes change around on serving sizes which let you choose for your needs. While at the same time you could easily adjust them.
The graph table on the nutrition page is easy to use and understand.
My least favorite thing about this book is the first part on "How to Make an Omelet". It gave a recipe for an oven omelet. How about hints and how to on a regular skillet omelet?
The title says it all. It is indeed an omelette cookbook. It has a large number of omelettes nothing overly imaginative, perhaps the mug omelette was the most unique. There’s no backstory or descriptions of the omelettes so it is definitely a reference style cookbook not one to settle back and read to learn more about omelettes in general and how they vary around the world. Still I took away a couple of good ideas for omelettes so if you are a lover of the egg it’s not bad especially if you can get it free.
Hmm, an omelette with bacon, whisky and peaches? I think this is a book to miss really. And a lot of these recipes require you to cook them in the oven for around half an hour. This is an American book. I hate to be a killjoy but you can cook an omelette on the top of the stove in a pan for just a few minutes only. Without whisky and peaches!
Haven't tried any of these recipes, yet but will definitely soon. There are some really different and yummy sounding recipes. Some are more time consuming then I usually try but next winter when I have Moore time I will definitely be trying them.
Always looking for cooking inspiration as the hubby moves closer to retirement and this certainly fits those goals for our family! Can’t wait to try some of these recipes out and not just for breakfast
Completely unexpected fantastic assortment of recipes
Crabmeat, Shrimp, Turkey, Kale, Asparagus, Peas, (Plastic Freezer Bags?!). It’s all in this book. Amazing blend of ingredients I never thought of, and I will never have a boring omelet again.
