A short episode in the steampunk fantasy world that makes a quick, fast developing and a little adventurous read. Cut down to the action-packed core, a mission to steal precious item from the pirates includes flying, free falls, and fireworks, ladies' charms, and wickedly good pickpockets. It does not make much sense for those unfamiliar with this world, but as a companion story, it is a great addition.

Knave and Rabbit are given a job to do by the Countess. Their job is to board a pirate ship and take all the things they have stolen. Knave meets a young girl/woman Mei aboard his ship and the two become close.

Dirty Deeds and Bloody Knaves is a sneak Peek into the world of Curiouser and Curiouser: Steampunk Alice in Wonderland. Dirty Deeds and Bloody Knaves give us a sneak peek into Knave and Rabbit’s world of plundering, stealing and pickpocketing.

I've always been an Alice in Wonderland fan, and for me the darker the Alice telling is, the better.

I also have a thing for decks of cards? But that's probably not relevant.

This was an enjoyable little adventure! It was a very fast short story, but I really enjoyed it. I'll be reading Steampunk Alice, but honestly I just want more adventures from the Knave!

Very quick read. It felt shorter than most of the stories you would get in a pulp magazine. That's why I gave it 4 instead of5 stars. I felt like the story needed to be fleshed out a little more. I would have liked more info about the two main characters or maybe more interaction with the steam punk air pirates. What was there was good.

I think I missed something?

Edit: I did! It's a between in a series. Will start from the beginning and reread this after that. Removing my rating.

Honestly, it was well written, but as I've never come across these characters before, I didn't really "get" it. It was a very brief novella, perhaps a short story.

Was a fun, very short, story. Would have enjoyed hearing more about what The Countess had in mind for this item. I also wonder if this was supposed to be during caterpillar's reign or after the Knave was taking over.
