On the run from the Rose Circus and Terra, Ara seeks a Sayge who can help her use the magic she didn’t know she had. But the Fae war is escalating quickly, and in order to stay alive, she's going to have to choose a side.
I was so looking forward to reading the sequel to Fae Cursed and Dark Fae lived up to my excitement. After leaving the first book with Ara's impressions of the Rose Circus, Terra, and of course Brennan; I was not sure what to expect her to discover next. The revelations into her heritage were both unexpected and intriguing. How she chose to make her choices throughout the book, based on what she discovered, made for good plot twists and turns. The romance between her and Brennan was fun to read, as was her friendship with Joe.
The action during the book was well paced, although the end fight seemed a bit abbreviated. I liked that each character played their own role in each dilemma, whether that role revolved around a power they could use or a task that was best carried out by them uniquely. It made for a cohesive flow to scenes which could otherwise feel scattered.
All in all, another good book with wonderful characters who I can't wait to see more of in the third part of this series.
In full disclosure, I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review
I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I am in love with this world! We last left Ara as she was running from both the Rose Circus and Terra. In Dark Fae, she continues to learn more about herself and the war she has found herself in, and soon comes to realize she will have to pick a side sooner rather than later. There is more magic and action in this book, the pace starts off a tad bit slow but then takes off and doesn't slow down. I think my only complaint is that the end fight seemed a little abrupt, but I did like the ending! I am hoping for more books in this series for sure!
Great story. Lots of action. Plenty of love. Read it through in one sitting. I highly recommend that you read "Fae Cursed: Legacy of Magic Book One" first.
I was given this book as an ARC by the author; however, the review is my honest opinion.
Dark Fae by Dyan Chick is the sequel to the amazing Fae Cursed. I as anticipating this sequel because I loved the prior book a lot especially with that 'electrifying' ending. Saybe Blessed was an amazing read as expected. It starts with the aftermath of the battle and Ara is feeling betrayed and left with a lot of questions. She finds solace with her friend Joe and spills her secrets to him (Yes including the existence of magic and supernaturals) . Joe believes her and decides to help her after a peculiar demonstration of her magic. Together, they worked on finding the Sayge Gia to figure things out. Things quickly go downhill from there as shocking revelations one after the other are laid bare. All the chaos leads to the return of someone from Ara's past, a confrontation with Terra with Tristan involved and finally Ara being reunited with the Circus. Brenon and Ara sort of settle their differences and they realise that things might just work out if the Sayges (Who Ara has connected with) and the Circus just work together to eradicate Terra and open the portal to send the Fae back home. The romance between Brenon and Ara is as hot and tense as ever. Though at first Ara resisted, the chemistry and draw between them was just irresistible. The action and magic is amped up and amazing. Twists and turns left me on the edge of my seat with excitement. Dyan Chick writes in such a way you won't want to let go of the book. The ending is awesome and it left me thirsting for what's next. This is a book everyone's gonna love, I happily recommend it to YA Urban Fantasy fans. That cover is also pretty spiffy.
