Bio...
Shiloh Walker has been writing since she was a kid. She fell in love with vampires with the book Bunnicula and has worked her way up to the more...ah...serious vampire stories. She loves reading and writing anything paranormal, anything fantasy, and nearly every kind of romance. Once upon a time she worked as a nurse, but now she writes full time and lives with her family in the Midwest.
Avalon I think I knew who the bad guy was a little too soon, but other than that, this was a really good quickie of a read. Shiloh Walker has been hit-or-miss with me and I think Mythe & Magic was one of her better plots. There was a little too much sex... I think one full sex scene right after another is a bit overboard, but it was easy to skim over it and move on to the next scene. More details about Erin's abilities and what she has done with them over the past 15 years would have been nice. But it's a short story and we can't always get what we want.
This is another short story that I would have eaten up as a full-length novel. The plot is solid enough that it could have easily supported a few more scenes and backstory to create another 100 pages.
The Empath's Lover A handful of sentences in and I feel like I know what's about to happen. I'm going to leave this edit open and come back in a few minutes with the verdict.... Yup. Predictable down to the position they were fucking in. NAILED IT! No pun intended. Ok, just finished it. That was basically porn, with a psychic twist. Just one sex scene after another. I think they had sex 5 times in 6 chapters. And I'd like to say, fucking an empath sounds super awesome in this story, but I have a feeling it wouldn't be so hot in real life. Nobody needs to know everything that goes through my head. Not even me.
Mythe: Satyr This says it's an introduction into a new world Shiloh Walker is writing about called Mythe. I'm not going to read this just yet, but I'll wait until I can get my hands on the second book in the Mythe series and read them together.
This is three short stories, the first of which was interesting. Avalon is the town where Erin is an investigator with the police and has hidden ESP abilities. She dreams of her death at the hands of a serial killer. She refuses to commit to Seth, a detective that she has had a relationship with, because she knows she will die before she is 30 and doesn't want to hurt him. Eventually it all works out and ends well.
The Empath's Lover is pretty lame and just a vehicle for hot scenes. Skipped through most of it.
Can't bring myself to finish. Walker must have had a deadline to meet.
From the three stories, my favorite is The Empath's Lover because well...it's hot. Like pretty much scorching and I admit I re-read it just for the smut alone, lol. The sex scenes are very well written, make me fanning myself and never fail to make me squirm XD. The other stories I don't remember it, since I only re-read The Empath's Lover.
I've been looking for the first novella in this book for months, thinking I had lost it when my HD crashed several years ago, and never once I thought it could be this one. I'm so glad I'm in a re-reading mood and opened it at random!
All my stars are for Satyr. I LOVE this series and am very disappointed that it probably wont ever be continued beyond the second in the series Mythe Vampire.
