Missy's Operation Lily Pad

Rate this book
After countless lives were saved because terrorist attacks were stopped, the partnership between supernaturals and the government continues. While Missy tries to focus on her life at West Point, her friends help search for yet another terrorist group. And, overseas? The enemy is finding out all about Missy!

General Blake knows Missy cannot officially serve unless, once again, she leaves West Point to do so. But, he wants her to be his secret, invisible, supernatural spy, even while she continues at the academy. After all, there are no rules about supernaturals, right?

With terrorist threats at home and abroad, will the new alliance prevail? Rather than hiding from the world, it’s time for supernaturals to help save the world, with Missy and her friends the vanguard for this new era.

Bought and read the whole series. Best to read in order. Thoroughly enjoyed this book, it's fun to leave the 'real' world behind and discover others! I will certainly look and definitely read more books from this author!

I had requested and received audiobook version of this book for free from the author, in exchange for an unbiased review.

I had started reading this series from book #4, which wasn't a good start. I hadn't liked the content all that much. But book 5 was much better. So, I picked up this book #6 and am now hooked. There's a constant improvement in the story-telling style in these books as they progressed, book 6 being the best in the series in this regard.

Missy's character had grown so much since the first time I had read it. And so has her powers. Her actions are a little predictable in this book, but nonetheless, it is entertaining. Along with Missy, other characters too get their own limelight, which I liked. I was entertained throughout the book. I am eager to know what happens in the next adventure. No, that's not because of any cliffhanger. This book completes its own story. But this series itself has gotten so good that I want to read the next one asap.

The narration was well done. Loved the different character voices and delivery. No audio issues.

The story isn't great, and the prose is terrible.

The grammar is atrocious yet SO consistent, I wonder if the writer speaks a bona fide alien language. The list of errors and distractions is too long to mention all of them. There's always a comma after "and", "then", "so", and "but". Nearly all those commas are wrong, thousands of them. (It's correct only when followed by a parenthetical expression.) Many sentences, almost half, begin with one of those words. That's supposed to happen in order to connect a sentence to the one before it, but the writer often does it for no reason. "And, question marks when it's not a question?" That's a good example. Seeing it occasionally would be no big deal, but this writer loves his/her errors. "How" is used when it ISN'T about the method of doing something, usually when "that" would be appropriate. "Which" is used when it isn't necessary — a faux pas, not an error, but annoying.

"Special" is used so often, I wonder if the writer knows what it means, "very" is overused, characters laugh when there's nothing funny (even when the issue they're talking about is deadly serious), and all the women are in "very special" sexy relationships with their soulmates. Every major character has a soulmate. Isn't that special?

As for the story ... was there a story? I suppose there was, but it's hard to notice through that thicket of distractions. Suffice it to say, Missy can do anything.

More exciting adventures with Missy and friends

My favorite thing about this series is the concept that shifting or witchcraft are just normal genetic traits with somewhat scarce distribution in humans. Clearly recessive as two people with no appreciable abilities can have a child capable manipulating energy.

I love that there is no animosity between witches and shifters. I love the idea that the abilities are no different than grey eyes or being able to curl your tongue.

Each person in the series is lovingly conceived and brought to life with all their individual personalities.

Each book can stand alone because the author always provides context. I could quibble about the amount and depth of context but I love these books. If you like a good shifter story, an exciting witch story, or a spicy romance, do not miss this series!

Best yet story about Missy

This was the best inclusion of information about the prior books into the story that I have ever read. It was part of the story not just included to remind the reader of what had gone on before.

Missy's abilities, powers, and relationships were naturally developed as the story unfolded.

Many of the other characters personalities and relationships also were developed. Joseph's brother Patrick meeting a young local witch and also the daughter of the main mobster boss could lead to them being important in a future story.

I noticed no spelling mistakes, which is really something different. I read 2 for books per week and I can not remember the last book without spelling mistakes.

Fun read that was hard to put down.

This is an entertaining paranormal story in which Missy (a West Point cadet/werecat/witch) and her friends once again help the government combat terrorist attacks using their special abilities. Missy’s powers continue to develop and you never know what she will be able to accomplish next. The narration fit the story well and she did a great job of all the accents, making it easy to distinguish the different characters. It is an enjoyable, fun story that can be read as a stand-alone but you would get much more from it if you have read/listen to the previous books, as Missy’s evolution is great to follow.

Wonderful read

Wish I could give more than five stars! This sixth book about Missy is awesome. It was well worth the wait for the new story. Hope it won't take as long for the next one. Learning all the new things Missy can do is fascinating. Keeping up with all the characters and situations is done in a very well defined way. I would recommend this story to any mature reader who enjoys intrigue and shifter stories. Very, very good time!

Another great story from the MISSY THE WERECAT series

For anyone who has read any book in this series, it is more of the same, a great character driven story of a West Point cadet who helps the government deal with terrorist attacks with her special abilities. If you have not read the series, you need to start with MISSY THE WERECAT (book 1 of 6). It's a wonderful story of Missy McCrea, who at puberty, shifts into a werecat. It's story suitable for years 15 and older.

More

I have just finished rereading all six books a second time, I enjoy the series that much. I read five to ten books a week so taking the time to reread a series again means I really energy the books. The growth of the characters is great, I admit I skip over some of the sex senses but do not think they are overdone. Awaiting the next story.

Overall, another good read with a thought provoking story line and developed characters.

Summer Morton did well with the narration.

I love Missy

I have been writing in my head, portions of what book 7 should be like, why Missy is now the Worlds most powerful witch, and what the fates have in store for her. Water witch, Earth witch, and Mountain lion, all combined into one Army Lieutenant, training with hardened operatives, and leaving them in the dust.

Missy the Werecat grows in some unusual ways.

I won't write how because that would spoil your reading of this installment of the series. And speaking of the series, get the previous books and read them in order because not doing so would spoil much of the enjoyment you would otherwise have from reading this wonderful series of books.

Grammar Counts

On the plus side I like the story line. But the grammar and excessive verbiage is very disconcerting and takes away from the enjoyment of the story. Please get a good editor and stop saying “of course “ all the time. We already know that. It is a fun story so improve the construct so we can enjoy it more

I really enjoyed this story, especially as the majority of the sex was glossed over and not written out in such a gratuitous manner.

I am looking forward to seeing how Missy's powers will continue to grow and the eventual reveal.

Lots of fun

Just finished reading the whole series. There are a lot of things to like about Missy and her crew, not least is the emphasis on responsibility for yourself and to others.

Another fun mix of military, spy, and supernatural with Missy the Werecat witch and her friends. They end up foiling a rather nasty terrorist threat which makes for a topical story. It's not deep lit but it's enjoyable reading.

The first third to half of the book had a plethora (for me) of info on what I call secondary characters. When Missy and her friends began showing up more so did my enoyment in the story. Really have enjoyed the series.

Very Enjoyable Read

I enjoyed reading about Missy and her friends. She is growing in her powers exponentially. I was irritated that the definition for drones (3 different) was incorrect. I can understand that some might need the definitions to help .

Missy gets cooler and cooler-

I'm really loving the way Missy is getting more and more powerful and skilled at using what she has. Her goals are praiseworthy and her backstory at West Point really makes these books special. Waiting anxiously for book seven and beyond

Watch Out Missy

Man, oh man, Missy is in it now. Her powers are expanding and danger is everywhere. Actually at several parts of the book I was speaking strongly (yelling) at the team. I don't normally yell at books.

A way to thwart the terrorists plans .

Missy increases her abilities and helps P Branch stop some terrorists from killing innocent civilians. At West point she continues in her studies and extra curricular activities.

Great read

Hey PG why all the third party references to your gender. Its obvious you are an old guy. Be brave and show yourself. stop pretending to be a woman. You owe it to your reader.

Ok

If you ignore the fixation on breasts, how good the women look, how horny everyone is and how much sex goes on the actual story isn't bad. Not as bad in book 6 as book 1 was, I hope the increased focus on storyline continues in the later books.
