This was a cute read! I enjoyed the details of the h fixing up her house. Noah and Finley were sweet together! Noah didn't come across as a manwhore, but he had been with plenty of women. There were a few mentions of his past with women that I could have done without, but he was all in with Finley as soon as he met her! Noah has some siblings that will probably get books- I really want to read about Asher- he is a mysterious, bearded hottie! I will never read about Gideon- he is a big manwhore!

While I liked this book and the MCs were ok enough for me to like them there's nobody and I mean nobody that can top Asher, Asher was an amazing hero and I loved him and loved Paige too.

I guess I need to say something nice about Noah, let me see what can I say about Noah. 🤔
Noah, Noah was an ok hero? I can say that I liked him enough although he said something that bothered me but that's just me.

Oh and did I mention Asher was awesome? Asher was and will always be my man.

I feel like this review is more about Asher.. 😁

Anyway unless Gideon stops sleeping around with OWs before meeting his heroine I'll probably skip his book and about Eli? I'll definitely have to think about his book because he is an ass. Whatever he did to his wife for her to leave his ass and the way he meddle in his siblings life didn't paint a good picture of him in my eyes.

This is a good example of a low-conflict romance. The relationship progression is steady and there aren't any big misunderstandings or dark moments. Most of the relationship tension comes from Finley's recent marriage breaking up and her taking the time she needs to reclaim her confidence. That is not a bad thing and I enjoyed getting to know her even as she was getting reacquainted with herself.

And Noah was outstanding as my very favorite kind of leading man. He's one of those capable, strong guys who cares about/for those he loves and has the confidence to lead, yes, but the even stronger confidence to take the back seat as circumstances dictate. I loved his straight-forward nature and that he had the patience to give her the weeks and months she needed to be with him from a position of strength and certainty. That was very engaging.

The biggest flaw in the story is that things are a little too golden around the edges. Both families (Noah's and Fin's) are too smooth, too perfect, and frankly, too similar in their perfections. They only really differ in number of children but otherwise they're practically carbon copies. Which makes it feel like the author only knows one pattern for long-term family success and this is it. It's a good pattern, don't get me wrong. But by the end, I still had trouble telling the parents apart.

So this is a solid four star read with the caveat that if your tastes need more conflict or friction or middle ground you're likely to find it less engaging. It hit very well with me, though a lot of that may be how very lovely I find Noah.

A note about Steamy: There's one long explicit sex scene and a few follow-on vignettes after. It's the middle of my steam tolerance but I admit skimming the second chapter that was still sexy times on that first one. I think the sex was as much fantasy land as any other element, though, so I had a hard time taking it serious despite liking that it fit very well into their relationship's intimacy arc and happened at the right time and for the right reasons.

No need to fix this book up!!!! Carey Heywood nailed it when she delivers one sweet, light, and heartwarming love story that was bursting with all the feels!!! I practically inhaled Fix Her Up in one sitting. How could I not when Heywood brings forth a story that reminded us all that life is truly a journey and when one chapter ends, another begins. And for Finley Reeves, her new life begins knocking one wall at a time.

6b658fa410e1401946067aedb32dd8 If I can do this, fix up this old house, I’ll be giving the both of us a new lease on life. ”

Finley Reeves needs a fresh new start. Clarification, she wants a new start and what better way than moving across the country and begin her new life in New Hampshire. When her husband decided to leave her for a younger woman, she knew that she couldn’t stay in her small town in Texas and have people gossip about her. So Finley decided to buy a house she saw online that is in much need of lots of love and repair. If Finely could fixed this house up, then she sure as hell can fix her life up too.Well as it turns out, this fixer upper was more than she could handle. And so when her real estate agent’s older brother shows up at her house willing to help, how could she turned down the help?

#FixHerUp

Noah Thompson is Finley’s knight in shining armor with a toolbelt. Literally, he decided to help Finley with her home improvements for free. And why is that? Well, it’s because right away from the moment she sneezed on him, he liked her. She was sweet, friendly, and independent. And also, he was very much attracted to her and her desire to fix an old house that no one would have bought.

As they spend more time with each other, Noah knew he had to make his move and let her know that this thing between them is something more. More than best friends. She was it for him. While he may be knocking down walls in her house, he too was knocking down the walls of her heart to love and trust again. And most importantly, she didn't need to be fixed. She just needed to be shown what real love looks and feels like.

Fix Her Up didn’t need much fixing when it came to bringing a heartfelt family themed love story. I loved getting to know the Thompson’s siblings and what awaits for each of them. With Noah finding love, it leaves three siblings in need of fixing. So if you are looking for a series that will hammer all the feels then I highly recommend you to read this book and what looks to be a fun series.

Finley (Fin) Reeves has just got to Woodlake, New Hampshire with a terrible cold and to move into her newly bought as-is house. She is planning to do all the fixing up herself and to heal and get away from her recent divorce. What she doesn't expect is her real estate agent's brother Noah Thompson to come over to put if a offer only to end up offering free help as a friend. Wary and not especially trusting of others after what happened with her ex and friends, she accepts but wonders why. For Noah, he is intrigued on site and offers help but knows is offer is more about how he begins to feel about her. As they work on the home together, things for both begin to change but for one it is scary but can the one more sure convince the other to give try and open their heart.

This was one of those more sweet that steamy even though it was not a clean read. I was surprised I really enjoyed as much as I did. I love the hero and heroine. His sister Abby annoyed me with her nosy, big mouth, and pushy self even as I appreciated some thing about her same with the mother. I think I wish somethings got more time or got explored even as I loved that it didn't all all the unnecessary drama. So this one was really low angst sweet with a little heat and really pretty couple focused.

Finley Reeves 35, has bought a money pit in a new town following her divorce. Noah Thompson, 38, is the brother of her realtor and a contractor with a heart of gold.

Being this is romance, Finley’s lucky that her prince charming swoops in to save the day, or in this case her house. I must admit I was initially a little stuck on the premise when she buys this dilapidated house in New Hampshire, far from family and friends, after making “a killing off the place she sold in Texas.” Part of me questioned Finley’s intelligence while another part of me suspected it was mostly psychological.

“I was in way over my head when I moved here. If he hadn’t of swooped in I would have drowned without him. I thought fixing up this place would fix me. Without his help, this project would have broken me at my core.”

I was glad when we got that out of the way because I quit side-eyeing Finley after she started to recognize her issues. Granted it took till half way through the book, but Finley grew as the story progressed and she went up in my estimation with her handling of her ex.

Noah was an all round great guy—total book boyfriend! We really need more of him in romance. While I think there was a little insta-love on Noah’s part, he didn’t rush the romance or their relationship. Instead he spent time with her and became her friend first. He’s patient, heeds her cues, and helps her move on. It’s qualities like this that should be highlighted more in this genre.

“‘He’s figuring out he made a mistake letting you go. Too bad for him that’s not a mistake I’ll make.’”

Told via Noah and Finley’s alternating first person POV, the steam is slow burn, but they eventually make up for it.

“‘You want, you can crawl up here, hold onto the headboard and I promise you I’ll make you scream.’”

If you are looking for a romance with low angst, positive examples of making a relationship work, and likeable characters who behave like the mature adults they are, this is one to cozy up with. I think the inspiration for the house renovating theme is clear and though I’m not a fan of the couple on that show, I became a fan of Noah and Finley. I’m also looking forward to seeing how the rest of the series goes. Up next, Noah’s reclusive brother, Asher’s story.

Favorite Quotes:

I was expecting her husband to be there, but his presence may have interrupted her attempts to put her hand in my pants. I might not have many rules when it comes to the women I see, but not being married is one of them.

He grins at me before lifting the hem of his shirt to wipe my snot from his face. I sneezed all over the hot guy buying condoms at the convenience store.

I try not to look at him anymore but it’s impossible. He’s too attractive, it would be a disservice not to.

I’m more excited than I care to admit that I’m going to get to see Noah’s place. Especially since this visit was a spur of the moment one. When you know company is coming, you have time to clean up and hide your vibrators, or whatever stuff a guy would hide.

‘We need to talk about what just happened.’ I hold my head in my hand. ‘Like a performance evaluation? I say we both earned a ten out of ten… Need a replay?’

To put it mildly, he’s seriously hot. As in, off the grid if zombies took over the world you’d want him in your bed – er, by your side – kind of hot.

My Review:

The first thing I noticed about this adorable book was the clever humor, a few paragraphs in and I was already comfortable, engaged, and invested. Written in my favorite dual POV, the plot was relevant, easy to follow, and pleasantly entertaining. The storyline was based in New Hampshire, which is one of the few states I have never visited, and provided a sweet and slow-burn love story between adorable and highly likable characters who tugged at my heartstrings and held my attention. This was my virgin voyage with Ms. Heywood but I enjoyed sailing with her so much, I plan to make her a habit.

If Finley Reeves is an expert at anything, it’s making mistakes. She proved this true by falling for and marrying the wrong man. Ten years later all she has to show for it is a divorce... and a broken heart.
Needing not only to get away, but also to start over somewhere new, she buys a fixer upper that’s one step away from being condemned. Deciding to tackle this project alone might be her biggest mistake of all.

This book opened up and swallowed me whole. I read through the majority of it in a little less than two days. I love Carey's writing style. She writes these cutey damsel in distress female characters and the strong silent type of males. Finley is a women starting over in a new town and new state she knows nothing about. Noah is the local contractor and his family pretty much runs all the businesses in town, he wants to help her.

"She lifts the decorative box from the top of my desk. 'I love this box.' Opening the lid, she asks, 'Why is it full of fortune cookie fortunes?' My cheeks redden. 'They're from all the times Noah and I had Chinese.'"

I love this plot line, I love HGTV shows, so this story spoke to me. Finley and Noah are so cute together and I love the families. My only problem is that I feel the end was a bit rushed. The last few chapters skip like a few months at a time. I wish to have seen some more of what happened in that span of time. But I did love how it ended and hope to read more from these characters soon.

"Most of the time we've been able to make it up to my bedroom. The times he laid me out on the dining room table, spread me on the stairs and took me on my kitchen countertop were the only exceptions to that."

Finley moves to a new house after her divorce. Noah the protagonist hero appears and offers to fix up her house, he falls for her and fixes up her life! Yes, there are smaller side stories to this main theme but to be honest, none grabbed my attention much.

This book has an ordinary story, no surprises or twists, just plain vanilla romance where we get to know both the guy and the girl and what goes in their head, both from their own perspective. I will only recommend this book to die-hard romance novels fans. The majority of the readers won't miss anything if they skip this one as I feel it is good as it lasts yet very forgettable.

Finley thought that her life would be an HEA but turned out she had married a cheating scoundrel, and now she is freshly divorced and sold everything and is headed to a small town to start fresh. What better way to start anew, than in a house that she has fixed up herself in New Hampshire. Finley had the house inspected and told it's foundation was fine and the house ready to move into, and she brought it in cash over the phone from the town's real estate agent Ashley Thompson. Ashley takes a look at the house and knows that Finley is in for a big challenge and what better person to help Finley than her older brother Noah Thompson. When it comes to DIY, Noah is your guy, and when he meets Finley, there is a spark, and he finds himself using any excuse he can to be around her. Though Finley isn't ready for dating, Noah will be patient as he knows she is his "One." What will happen though when Noah and Finley finally decide to make something out of their friendship, and her ex-husband comes to New Hampshire wanting Finley back? Will Finley be strong enough to tell her ex to leave her alone and is she ready to move forward with Noah? Find out in Fix Her Up by Carey Heywood - a sweet DIY Fixer-Upper Romance. I really loved the Thompson family and thought it was pretty cool that Carey Heywood has made them all work in similar fields that either overlap or can rely on one another as it makes them feel like a very close-knit family which is awesome to read as it gives the story more of a homely and happy feel to it. I am now looking forward to reading the rest of the series and getting to know the other Thompson siblings and their chances of getting their own HEA’s.

3.5 stars!

This was so saccharine sweet. The synopsis sums it up well: Finley buys a complete fixer-upper house in the Northeast right after her divorce, far away from her Texas life. She meets Noah who sees that she’s in over her head regarding home renovation while he falls head over heels for her.

She isn’t ready for a relationship and is so not ready that she doesn’t even realize that he’s helping for an ulterior motive! It’s actually why I didn’t round up to four stars.... she’s a little ridiculous in accepting free help. So unrealistic. And if this was real, there’s no way anyone could believe he’s helping out of the true goodness of their asexual heart.

However, how Noah slowly works his way under her skin is so very endearing. He befriends her first. He is not pushy in the least. A true gentleman. I loved how he pretty much planted the seed of interest and made her fall in love with her! All while renovating a home together which was pretty interesting.

Basic romance but will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy

This book got me from the beginning! I love how Finley was strong enough to move to a place where she knew no one and planned on renovating an old house into her own all by herself. It shows how a strong womand she is. The way Noah feels for her and wants to be with her and helps her with her house is so beautiful! I love how his family accept her and how they become a family for Finley and take care of each other. Carey Heywood did an amazing job with this book! I can't wait to read more! Thank you for this amazing story!

First person present tense, alternating povs

I swore never to read books in this 'format' ever again, but I'd downloaded this before I realised. The writing was okay actually - and I liked both characters even though they were fairly 2D in this,

BUT

NOTHING happened. They met, began renovating Finley's house and of course ended up having sex but there was nothing else. No sense of drama, no tension (unless you consider worrying which colour curtains to buy) nothing to make me bite my lip and wonder what might happen to stop the fledgling romance.

Finley's ex turned up... and then left. Noah's mum ended up in hospital with a minor 'emergency' which had the entire family rushing to her bedside (WHY??) And that was it.

It was okay. But I want more 'meat' to my romances. I want to feel fear and concern and something to make me read on late into the night.

This had none of those. They met. They restored a house. They fell in love. Rather boring really.

This was a nice light-hearted story. A very easy read that brings out all the smiles. Finley moves to a new place to start her life over again after her divorce. When she buys a fixer upper, she wasn’t expecting all the work. But luckily for her, the realtor’s brother Noah decides to help her out. What starts out as a job grows into something more. I really liked how the story played out. The romance wasn’t really rushed and we were able to see the progress of Noah and Finley’s relationship. I really enjoyed the time they spent together. They were sweet and fun. Carey was great at demonstrating their romance. I also liked Noah’s family. They were great and I am hoping that Carey will write more of them. This was a heartwarming romantic story with no crazy angst and silliness which I liked. A pleasant read.

'Fix Her Up' by Carey Heywood is the First Book in the new series called "The Fix". This is the story of Finley Reeves and Noah Thompson.
Finley is attempting to start over after her divorce and that means a new location with a fixer upper of a older house. Which she plans on doing it all by herself. But she may have bitten of more that she can chew. Then a hot guy name Noah shows up who is her Realtor’s brother. Noah has his own construction company and his somewhat of an Alpha man. Finley who was married for a long time is thrown off kilter by Noah.
This was a sweet read that had great secondary characters too which always help with a books enjoyment.

The first book in the Fix series, Fix Her Up was a lovely read that I devoured from beginning to end. This is a new to me author too.

Reeling from a bad divorce, Finley Reeves ups sticks and moves across the country and buys a fixer-upper home that she intends to do all herself. However when she arrives at the property she had only previously seen online, she is shocked by the amount of work that needs to be done. When a saviour arrives on her doorstep in the frame of sexy construction man, Noah Thompson, offering to help her, she knows she would be silly to refuse, but it takes a lot of convincing her by him.

Noah Thompson is well known in the small town he lives in with his close knit family. Having already spotted the gorgeous woman when she sneezed on him in the local store, his eyes are firmly focused on her. When his real estate sister points out a new neighbour has arrived and needs help he was unaware that the damsel in distress would turn out to be the beauty from the store.

I really loved this refreshingly light, romantic story of two people lost in the world of relationships. To see them build on first their friendship though the shared chores a house improvement takes to the gradual burning lust they develop that eventually takes flight. It was adorable and sexy all at the same time. It was a slight slow burn but it made up for it when this pairing finally get it on.

The family vibe and the small town feel just embraced me from the start, so much so I wanted to live there too! It was good getting to know all the family, especially those sexy Thompson brothers who I guess will feature in future books. In fact deep and enigmatic Asher is up next. Definitely a series to fall in love with. Four and a half stars.

This is book 1 in hopefully a new series by Carey Heywood. In this book you are introduced to Noah and Finley or Fin to her friends! Fin has relocated across country all on her own following a 10 year marriage that ended bad and left triple walls up around her heart and a bitter taste and no trust. She bought her house site unseen online because she wanted a “fixer upper”. Well she definitely got that! She had no idea what she was doing or how she was going to do it. Thank goodness the realtor for the property saw this and sent her brother to see if he could help. She was determined to do this on her own. She had to prove to herself that she could. He was smitten from the start but smart enough to realize that she had to be the boss and do this on her own. He had feelings for her that he never experienced before. She had feelings too but she felt it was too soon since her divorce plus she had that major trust issue and was convinced that everyone would eventually leave. Then Finley’s Ex shows up and says it was a mistake and he missed her and wants her back. Acting like the divorce never happened and refusing to leave. She was totally rattled by his appearance and Noah could see the walls going back up even stronger than before. Although her Ex never physically beat her, the emotional abuse he subjected her to was far worse for her psyche. Much to her surprise Noah didn’t run for the hills, he stayed by her side and showed her how much he loved her. Little by little Noah chiseled away at her wall until she felt it cracking. She tried spackling it back up but he kept chiseling away. I cannot wait to read more of this couple and the rest of the family. This is definitely a 10 star read!

Sponsoreret anmeldelse

3,5 stjerner

This was an enjoyable read. The story follows 35-year-old recently divorced Finley Reeves as she tries to start new. She decides to buy a fixer-upper alone. Then she meets Noah Thompson, who helps her with the house and the two become friends. Then as the story progresses, they fall in love. I thought the story was great. I thought it was both funny and sweet. Finley is starting over after being married for 10 years. I thought she was naive but funny. She is also smart. In the story, she learns how to trust again after meeting Noah. Noah is the 38-year-old knight in shining armour. He is the brother of Finley's real estate agent, Abby Thompson. I thought the fact that he liked her right from the moment that she sneezed on him was cute and sweet. He is the type of guy who goes after what he wants and he sure does want her. I thought he was thoughtful, sexy, and protective. As they spend more time together, they start to trust and love one and another and a beautiful romance ensues. I just wish that there was a bit more of a slow burn quality to the romance. I think it would have made the story that much better. I thought the ending was perfect. I cannot wait to read about the other Thompson siblings and how they fall in love. Overall, a great read.

Finley got divorced after learning her husband had been cheating on her. Desperate for a change, she purchases an older home in another state with dreams of fixing it up and starting over. Noah is a contractor who offers to help Finley with the renovations to her new home. From the moment he sets eyes on Finley Noah wants to help and protect her.

This was such a sweet romantic story. Finley and Noah are both great characters and I enjoyed watching them become friends and then more. Noah's siblings are great too and I'm hoping we'll get to see more of them in future books.

This was a fun, easy, stress-free read with a very sweet ending.

Everyone has heard of love at first sight but for Noah it was love at first sneeze. Although he had to tread lightly with Finley. She was recovering from a failed 10 year marriage. She came to New Hampshire from Texas not knowing anyone ready to start a new life. The last thing she wanted was a relationship. Because of her cheating ex Finley had a hard time with trust. Noah offered to help Finley renovate her house with no strings attached. He never pushed her or forced her to feel anything for him. He allowed her to take it at her own pace. I love how their friendship and respect developed for each other. He allowed her to be herself and never tried to control her or make her feel that she was unimportant. She wanted to prove to herself that she could make it on her own and not be dependent on others. She allowed Noah to help her but never felt that he controlled her. her ideas and opinions were just as important as his. At times she felt overwhelmed but he was always there to encourage her and help in any way he ckild. never once did he expect anything. She would always thank him and he always told her it was necessary. After a while she felt she could trust him. he never pushed her and understood her feelings. Of course she couldn't believe that he was for real especially after her marriage. Noah was the complete opposite of her ex. But he was also the perfect man for her. It just took her a while to see it.

I loved how Carey Heywood allowed Finley and Noah's relationship to grow from friendship to lovers. She didn't rush them. She made it develop in its own time. Trust is something that does not happen over night and once it is lost it takes a long time to build. Carey wrote these characters so well and true. everyone loves a HEA but what made this one special was the patience and understanding Noah had for Finley and eve tual the mutual love they developed for each other.

What do you do when your life turns upside down??

You get a divorce, move away from everything and everyone, buy a house you fell in love on the sight and decide to renovate it by yourself even of you don't know the first thing about renovation. That's why we have YouTube right?? Wrong - that's why you have Noah Thompson.

OMG I love this man...L-O-V-E him! I love that he's good with tools and his hands (wink wink). I love how he makes Finley feel even though she thinks he can do better.

This Story had me smiling from beginning to the end. If you need something light, fun and hot this IS a book for you.
