Dollycas’s Thoughts

The “seeds of revenge” are planted deep within this mystery. Megan Sawyer, being the good person she is rescues a stranded motorist in the middle of a blizzard. She delivers Becca Fox right to her aunt’s door. Becca plans to sell her “love potions” at her aunt’s nursery over the holidays. Things are frosty upon her arrival as she meets her father, the man she holds responsible for her mother’s death, on her aunt’s front porch. Becca is upset about the collusion between the two. Megan finds herself in icy straights when the man is found dead. Not only is Becca a suspect but in a remarkable twist so is her own aunt, the famous mystery author. Megan has no choice but the dig in to the investigation putting herself on the killer’s hit list. It doesn’t matter if she has been naughty or nice, this could be her last Christmas in Winsome.

I have heard of love potions including the famous Love Potion #9, but I had never heard of a Love Chemist. Becca Fox has an interesting little business but she has hasn’t had it easy since her mother died. She believes her father killed her mother and she has not had anything to do with him since. She has a brother but he does not hold the same beliefs about their father. Megan is drawn to her and so was I. Becca is a complicated character and Ms. Tyson has really brought her to life in this story.

Bibi, Megan’s grandmother, reminds me so much of my own grandmother and mother. A hard working woman determined to get to the truth no matter what. She is also one to not hold her tongue. She will tell you her opinions and thoughts on virtually any subject as woman of that generation tends to do. She warms my heart.

I also love Scottish vet, Daniel “Denver” Finn and the direction of his relationship with Megan. It is fun to see this relationship grow.

The pacing of this book is different. I felt the story was unfolding at a comfortable pace, the clues were being uncovered and I was right there with Megan the entire way, engaged and captivated. The ending was a total surprise. Then I looked up and realized I had read the entire book in one sitting and faster than I had read a book in a very long time. Truly is was a fast pace story but not once did anything feel rushed or glossed over. The author delivered a truly fantastic read. I never once looked for a stopping place or even thought about putting the book down.

The characters are well defined and the mystery was exceptional. A cozy mystery with a bit of an edge and I loved it!! It was a trip to Paradise, a chilly escape in the winter but Paradise nonetheless.

You will want to start this series from the beginning and get to know the characters from the start. I am anxiously awaiting and excited for my next trip to Winsome.

When Megan Sawyer sees a woman stranded during a winter storm, she offers her a ride to town. The woman is Becca, who is coming to Winsome to spend the upcoming Christmas holiday with her aunt. However, when she goes to drop off Becca, Megan witnesses a confrontation between Becca and her very estranged father, Paul. When Paul dies a few days later, Becca quickly becomes the chief suspect. But Megan thinks there is more to his death, especially since it mirrors an unusual death in one of Megan’s aunt Sarah’s books. Is the killer using the book to send a message?

The Christmas setting is in contrast to the plot of this book. In fact, it makes it seem darker as a result. This is a plot that will stay with you for a while after you are done. Little things that appear to mean nothing come into clearer focus when we reach the climax of the tightly plotted story. I enjoyed seeing the returning characters again, but the new characters really steal the show. They are very strong, even Paul, which is unusual for a murder victim.

NOTE: I received a copy of this book.

When I read the first book in the Greenhouse Mysteries, A MUDDIED MURDER, I was amazed at how quickly I was hooked. And, again with the second installment, BITER HARVEST. Author Wendy Tyson pulled me in with her easy writing style. You know the kind? Every word she writes belongs in the story. She doesn’t “over” describe things or add a bunch of words just to stretch out her word count. Her stories flow across the pages inviting you to drift with them.

With that said, while I loved the plot of SEEDS OF REVENGE, author Tyson went edgier with this book. Her same wonderful writing is there. Her characters are still just as enjoyable, and I still have a wicked crush on the devilish Denver. But parts of this book didn’t read “cozy” to me. There is also the use of profanity which I think has no place in a cozy mystery. D*mn and h*ll have been showing up more and more in this genre, and while they make me cringe, I manage to overlook them (mostly). But the use of b***h and b*****d just don’t belong. This was a good, strong story, and didn’t need the addition of profanity to make it better. Now, if this doesn’t bother you, I highly recommend you read this book. You will be in for a good read.

The third book in the Greenhouse mystery series. It is winter time and Megan Sawyer is working to farm year around. A major snow storm occurred while Megan was returning home from a trip to sale here greens to restaurants. She gives a ride to a stranded motorist. This starts a new tale of physiological damage that is connected to her Aunt through her mysteries Megan is determined to find the killer. The twists that the swirl around the tale will keep your attention until you are astonished at the end. Megan's romance with the Scottish vet continues. I recommend this book and series

“Seeds of Revenge” earns 5/5 Vials of the Sweet Aroma of…Revenge!

I am very aware of the countless rave reviews for Wendy Tyson’s Greenhouse Mystery series, and am thrilled to finally join in with others to voice my excitement. Although I started with the third book, I never felt at a loss with the backstory or character connections. Wendy brings us Megan Sawyer who had given up her Chicago-based law career for the peace and quiet Winsome, Pennsylvania, helping to open a store and café featuring products from Washington Acres, her grandmother’s organic farm. Along with the ins and outs of farming and running a business, she also falls into various murders and during the subsequent investigations she is assisted by her grandmother Bibi, friends, novice Police Chief Bobby King, and the hunky Scottish vet turned boyfriend Daniel “Denver” Finn.

I very much enjoyed “Seeds of Revenge,” more a cozy with an edge. I was immediately hooked with Megan’s character as she starts off by acting the good samaritan and picking up a stranded motorist on the side of the road during a terrible winter storm. We meet Becca Fox, the niece of Winsome favorite Merry Chance, who is setting up her business in her aunt’s nursery for the upcoming Christmas holidays. Becca is The Love Chemist, who makes naturally scent love potions using pheromones, what she calls the magic ingredient. Dropping Becca off at Merry’s home Megan is shocked at Becca’s reaction upon seeing Paul, her estranged father. She is extremely agitated, not wanting to have anything to do with him, and accusing him of having murdered her mother. Sure many families have conflicts and misunderstandings, but when Paul is found dead, Becca is still the number one suspect. And when she shows signs of mental instability, law enforcement believes it is an open and shut case…Megan’s not so sure, of course, the subsequent investigation is very well written and clever, an engaging page-turner: Fox family secrets, connections to the Sawyer family, multiple murders, along with issues surrounding the farm and navigating through the relationship with Denver. I loved it! There’s always something extra, too, Gardening Tips and a delicious easy-to-follow recipe.

WOW! I've enjoyed this series from the start, but this third in the series has set it for immediate addition to the Nook as soon as I hear the next one is released. Probably an immediate read too once downloaded.
I love the setting and the premise, the main characters, side characters, everything. Megan is an organic farmer. She's smart. She loves her life, her farm, her family. She has a great guy in her life. I like how real she feels to me as the reader. I can identify with her which I don't always do when I read a book. And that's okay. Most of what I read is pretty out there. I want escape, I don't need to identify with everyone. It's just nifty when I find a character written in such a way as to feel like she'd be a good person to be around and be friends with.
It is set during Christmas, Megan is busy, but she helps with the investigation of a murder and the odd occurrences that are going on. I like that the police chief trusts Megan's insights, and he's no bumbling idiot. The police chief is smart and he knows how to use the tools around him that he can utilize.
Everything flows wonderfully. There are suspects out the yingyang. I had no idea whodunnit, but it made sense. I love when that happens.
I can definitely recommend this book, series and author.

4.5 Stars. Protagonist and organic farmer, Megan Sawyer sees a woman stranded during a winter storm and offers her a ride to town. The woman is Becca Fox, who is coming to Winsome to spend the upcoming Christmas holiday with her Aunt Merry. When Megan drops Becca off at her aunt's, she witnesses an angry confrontation between Becca and her estranged father, Paul. A few days later, Paul is dead, and Becca quickly becomes the number one suspect. Megan thinks there is more to his death and begings to poke around. When she finds out that the murder imitates one in her Aunt Sarah's books, she starts to dig a bit deeper.

I enjoy this series because of its complexity. The mystery is a bit edgier than what I am used to in a cozy and there is some profanity in this book. Things that appear to have nothing to do with the situation, come into clearer focus as we reach the climax. The story is well-plotted and well-paced. The characters are well-developed and likeable. Megan is a great protagonist. She is smart, kind, tenacious and loyal. She loves her family and her new life farming. Her romantic interest, Scottish Vet Denver is helpful and sexy. I like that the police chief trusts Megan's insights, and he's no bumbling idiot. He actually investigates and finds answers. The character of Becca was fun. She is the "Love Chemist" who creates potions using natural ingredients and adding pheromones for love. There were a lot of suspects and twists that had me guessing right to the end. Overall, this is a well-written cozy with secrets, multiple murders, some humour, family connections and a great mystery. I recommend this one to anyone who enjoys a cozy mystery with a bit of an edge.

I listened to this book and the narration was enjoyable. While I enjoyed the female voices, the expression and articulation, I found the male voices were a bit lacking. I think I have gotten spoiled with multiple narrators where there are both male and female narrators.

Megan offers a ride to a stranded motorist who turns out to be the niece of one of Winsome's shop owners. Becca is hoping to kick off her love potion business, but ends up a prime suspect in the death of her estranged father. When Megan's aunt is also implicated in the death, it becomes personal and Megan feels compelled to find out what really happened.

I've enjoyed the previous books in this series – the characters, the setting and the gardening aspects of the story, even though I'm not a gardener myself. This book felt a little different to me, and it took awhile to realize why. First, it's set in Pennsylvania in November, so there isn't much gardening going on, and I missed that. Second, while the characters we've come to know are in the book, most of them have only cameo appearances, which was disappointing as well. Despite that, I liked this book and found the mystery intriguing as the facts developed. I suspected the villain before the reveal, but wasn't sure of the motivation.

There was a bit of what might be a cliffhanger at the end of the book, not in the mystery itself but in the personal background story. I don't usually like cliffhangers of any kind, but I'll have to read the next in the series to figure out if it was indeed a hint of things to come.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to continue this series.

In this third book of the series Megan has her greenhouses set up to produce vegetables throughout the cold winter, she is out contacting restaurants hoping to add some new contracts to her ever growing business. When coming home from one of her selling trips she comes across a person stuck on the side of the road, it turns out to be Becca the niece of one of the locals, Mary Chance. When Megan drops off Becca at her aunts house things get a bit dicey. Becca sees her father a man she can't stand and the person to whom she blames for the death of her mother. When Becca's father is later found dead everyone looks toward the daughter first. Megan soon realizes that there were quite a few people that didn't like the man and the suspect list grows from one to many, her author aunt being among them. Is her aunt the killer or was it the daughter? Can Megan find the truth before she ends up as a victim? Who had the most to gain by killing? Was he as bad as some are making him out to be? Find the answer to these questions and more by diving into this well plotted mystery. The authors progression of Megan from book one to three has shown her truly growing as a character, especially one I would like to know better. Her romantic relationship has been moving forward in a realistic fashion along with her relationships with family and friends, this makes for a more relatable character which I always appreciate. I can't wait to see what is in store next for Megan and the town of Winsome.

I received at ARC of this book, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Wendy Tyson has written another stunning book with more twists and turns than the original Labyrinth!

Snow is falling in Winsome and as Megan drives home after pitching her produce to some out of town chefs she comes across a stranded motorist, who turns out to be the niece of a Winsome resident, Merry Chance, when Megan drops Becca (the stranded driver) at Merry's house she ends up witnessing something that is NOT in the spirit of the season, apparently Merry hoped to bring an estranged family back together for the festive season having invited not only Becca but Becca's father as well, the father that Becca roundly accuses of murdering her mother! The next time Megan sees Paul (the father) he is arguing with Megan's aunt (Sarah), then the festive season really takes a downward turn when Paul is found dead.

What becomes clear after a few days though is that someone is using the plots from Sarah;s best selling thrillers, now Megan, her Grandmother Bibi, oh and the local Police, need to find out who is making this a Nightmare of a Christmas, preferably before there is another fatality.

Seeds of Revenge by Wendy Tyson is an engaging cozy mystery that will leave you wanting more.

Christmas in the small town of Winsome seems beautiful and I was ready to enjoy this cozy mystery.
Was I surprised when this story took a wild turn and left me at the edge of my seat, gripping my kindle tightly, waiting for the next explosive situation.

Megan Sawyer lives on the farm with her grandmother, Bibi. She enjoys her life and her relationship with Denver, the local veterinarian.
After visiting the local restaurants, trying to interest them in her greenhouse veggies, Megan happens upon a young woman, walking through the snow storm.
As she stops to offer assistance, Megan has no idea she is going to become involved in another investigation.
As the story unfolds, family secrets are divulged and Megan's life turns into a whirlwind of destruction.
People close to her are hurt and it seems Megan will do anything to find the answers.

This is a fabulous book, by far the best in the series.
I can't wait to read book 4, it's bound to be even better.

The third book in the Greenhouse Mystery series is even better than the first two, I know.. hard to believe.
Organic farmer and ex-lawyer Megan Sawyer is drawn into another murder committed in her small Pennsylvania town. A relative of neighbor Merry Chance is murdered in such a way to suggest it's not quite kosher.
Odd things happen, some mirroring a local author and relative's murder/mystery tales, and it seems the locals have hones in on a suspect...but it doesn't feel right to Megan.
Her handsome veterinarian boyfriend, grandmother and assorted friends help to chase down answers, even if she doesn't have all the questions.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and finished it in hours, it was that hard to put down.
I requested and received an ARC copy from NetGalley, to my delight, as I am following this series. If you haven't read it yet, I highly recommend it for it's mix of family, intrigue and romance.

It was definitely Christmas in July, when I was lucky enough to get a chance to read this book. I received this book through Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review. Receiving this book in no way altered my opinions, or review of this book. Wendy has a way to make you just fall in love with her character's, as well as wanting to move in to their town. Winsome is having a hard time slowing down with all the secrets that have been lurking. This book is the best one yet in this series. However, I believe the next will be even better considering the explosive ending you are left with in this book. If you love the others in this series you will be obsessed with this one.

I read an e book ARC from Henery Press through Net Galley.

The town and people of Winsome Pennsylvania are the connecting threads in the Greenhouse Mystery series centered on Megan Sawyer, her Grandmother Bonnie aka Bibi and their Washington Acres Farm and Cafe.

Book 3 features Merry Chase, owner of the garden nursery, and the return of her extended family; Paul, Luke and Becca Fox.

Megan is drawn into the drama when Becca is suspected of murdering her father, Paul.

Megan's relationship with Denver Finn and her Aunt Sarah move forward helping Megan to overcome her difficult past.

Looking forward to book 4!

This is the third book in the A Greenhouse Mystery series by Wendy Tyson.

This is another one of those series that first pulled me into the cozy genre. I really enjoyed this garden mystery with all its revenge and angst.

In the town of Windsome, things aren’t always what they seem as our main character has learned. Megan Sawyer, is trying to make her greenhouse into a year round endeavor. When she comes back from a trip to Philly, she rescues a stranded motorist and thus gets pulled into the lives of Becca and Luke Fox. There is just something a little bit off about Becca and Luke but Megan can’t put her finger on why.

Becca has started a perfume business that features products made with pheromones. Becca and look look like a happy family on the surface but everything is far from okay. Megan’s friend Merry invited Becca to town in order to reunite her with her estranged father. Then the father, Paul Fox ends up dead. This Paul fellow was quite the rascal and up to no good for most of his life.

Then a surprising connection is discovered between the murder and Megan’s aunt, Sarah, who is a mystery author. She ends up on the suspect list too along with practically every one else in town. As you can tell, this is not a mystery easily solved. So much going on here. I just loved it. It felt so good to get back to the older series that called out to me back in the beginning of my cozy journey.

Good to see Denver/Daniel back in the saddle and the connection between him and Megan is just what makes life tick for me. Wish I had something like that in my own life. The loving connection between them sort of balances the not so nice aspects of the murder and dead bodies that keep cropping up. And then her friendship with Bobby King, police chief, made me smile every time he came on stage. Loving the whole recurring cast here. So friendly and homey. This series is a sure keeper. Going to finish reading the books I have not gotten to and hope to read on Wendy’s other series, the Allison Campbell mysteries when I finish with that.

If you love a good cozy mystery, you have to check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

I know some readers really enjoy reading holiday-themed mysteries at the appropriate season, and this mystery takes place during the Christmas season, but I see it more as a wintery than Christmasy story, perhaps because I have spent the last 18 years living in California without ice and snow. Like its predecessors in the Greenhouse Mystery series, it's a well-plotted story, although not very difficult to figure out, and I really like the main character of Megan Sawyer. Part of the reason her character works well is because she is an attorney, albeit one who has given up on practicing law, but her ability to reason and understand how law-and-order works makes her plausible. Also, author Tyson can write enough of a story that Meg can behave intelligently and still have a long enough story to qualify as a novel. A pet peeve of mine are amateur sleuths that do supremely stupid things in order to create enough "goings-on" to get a novel, and then still manage to somehow survive and figure things out. None of that here. This is definitely a cozy mystery that manages to avoid being too cutesy or theme-bloated. Although this could be read as a standalone, reading the first two books in the series will make the secondary characters come alive. Recommended.

It's almost Christmas in Winsome, PA and Megan Sawyer is on her way back from attempting to get some Philadelphia chefs to buy her fresh greenhouse greens. On the way home during a snowstorm, she meets a young woman on the road who is coincidentally headed back to Winsome as well so she gives her a ride. It turns out the girl, Becca, is Merry's niece and Merry was hoping to reunite Becca with her father, Paul but when Becca found out, she wanted no part of that, in fact she's convinced that her father killed her mother. When Paul turns up dead after Megan sees her arguing with her own Aunt Sarah, she's wondering how her aunt even knew Paul Fox. With other people having motives for killing him as well, Megan knows this won't be an easy case to solve.

The plot was really intense in places and complex but once the mystery was well under way, I couldn't stop reading. I just had to find out the answers. It seemed like one thing happened then another and it turns out someone was using parts of Aunt Sarah's books to cause trouble in town. Since Billy King, police chief, knew and trusted Megan, I liked that he respected her opinion on various aspects of the case. I haven't read the other two books so I'm not sure if their relationship was always this amicable with the first two cases.

Just when I started to suspect someone (turns out I was right!) the author very cleverly led the reader down another path with more possibilities. But the reasons and explanations were definitely things that I could never have thought of. The regular characters were all very likable so I would like to read the first two books sometime when I get a chance.

Seeds of Revenge is the third book in the Greenhouse Mystery series by Wendy Tyson. Set during the Christmas season in Winsome, Pennsylvania. Meghan is returning from Philly in the middle of a snowstorm. She had ventured to Philly with coolers of greens in hopes of selling them to restaurants so that she could keep her farm and organic café. It’s great to see the same main character and the same setting. Family is a key item in Wendy Tyson’s book and although there are evil doings in this book, I found the plot development was attention grabbing. A little romance too helps to tie in the love of Christmas too. There are three books so far in this series and having read all three, I would say they each could be treated as a stand-alone book. It will be interesting to see what avenue will be followed in book four.

It's the Christmas holidays in Winsome, Pennsylvania, and Megan Sawyer is on her way home after a business trip to Philadelphia. She picks up a stranded motorist on the side of the road during a snowy evening. The young woman, Becca Fox, turns out to be the niece of Merry Chance, and she's been invited to town to sell her products during the season.

But when Megan drops the young woman off at Merry's home, there's another visitor - Becca's father Paul, and while he apparently wants to speak with her the reaction from Becca is completely malevolent. It's obvious she hates her father, but never more so than when she accuses him of murdering her mother years before.

Little does Megan know that this family's appearance in town will bring attacks on its townspeople instead of the reunion that Merry envisioned. When Paul is found dead and it's later determined to be homicide, the natural suspect is Becca. When the young woman shows signs of being mentally unstable, even the police chief is convinced she's guilty. But Megan isn't so sure, and when the attacks are somehow connected to her great aunt Sarah, Megan stumbles upon secrets from Sarah's past that could be a clue.

While Police Chief Bobby King - young but gaining experience quickly - is convinced he's got the right person for the murder, Megan isn't so sure. She continues exploring possible suspects to Bobby's chagrin, and the more she digs, the more she learns that Paul Fox was a master manipulator with a horde of enemies left behind. As her peaceful life starts to become unraveled by the devastation around her, she realizes she's in a race against time to find the person who really killed Paul, but little does she know she's also in a race against time to save herself...

This book is the third in the series and in my opinion is the best yet. Like a fine wine, Ms. Tyson's Greenhouse Mysteries only gets better with age. She is not only a talented writer, she is a talented storyteller as well. Her plots are well written, suspenseful and with enough twists and turns to keep us absorbed in the narrative.

This was a delightful tale of suspense and revenge, with a little bit of romance thrown in for good measure. The characters are given the full depth treatment: these are people who are animated and lively, fully dimensional and believable. Megan and her family and friends make the town of Winsome come alive, and I consider myself lucky to be able to share in their adventures.

When we come to the end and the murderer is revealed, it was put together in a deft manner that made all the pieces fall in place easily. While not completely unexpected, it didn't matter as the journey itself was an enjoyable read. Highly recommended and I look forward to the next in the series.

I loved BITTER HARVEST so much that I was afraid SEEDS OF REVENGE would be a letdown. Boy, was I wrong! Tyson takes the thrilling nature of her mysteries up a level in such a way that feels utterly natural, but still had me staying up way past my bedtime to finish it.

The usual cast of characters are back and I've been loud and clear about my love for Megan and her grandmother, but the addition of Becca is really lovely. Digging into Becca's father's death leads Megan to dig into her own history. I promise no spoilers, but wow!

I find myself wanting to move to this quaint hamlet of Winsome, eat all of the fantastic food at the cafe, and sit and have tea with Bibi and Megan.

4.5/5 ⭐️

STORY - 4.5/5 ( I love this book! It's my favorite in the series so far. I felt like the stakes of the mystery were the highest they've ever been and the clues were awesome. I only docked half a point because I didn't love the ending but I don't know really know why.)

CHARACTERS - 4.5/5 (I loved all the characters and was glad to see that the town is really becoming a character itself. While I struggled with remembering everyone's identities at first, I quickly remembered and the rest was smooth sailing.)

WRITING - 4.5/5 (I thought the mystery was well formed and the dialogue or actions of the characters never felt awkward or stunted.)

UNIQUENESS - 4/5 (it was a pretty standard cozy mystery but the added element of literary clues was a nice touch)

ENJOYMENT - 5/5 (Even though I'm sick I still loved the act of reading this book! I can't wait to read the next)

Seeds of Revenge is the third book in the Greenhouse Mystery series by Wendy Tyson, and after reading the first few pages, I found myself wondering "why haven't I read these books before?" The Christmas season in Winsome, Pennsylvania is wonderfully captured, and I found myself wanting to sit down and share hot chocolates with Megan, her Grandmother Bibi, and their friends. However, things are not all merry and bright in Winsome when former resident Paul Fox returns to town under suspicious circumstances and ends up dead a few days later. Even though he was not a nice man and had no shortage of enemies, there is someone willing to do almost anything to keep the killer from being caught, and the book keeps you on the edge of your seat and guessing right until the very end.

I loved reading about Megan's organic produce farm and her friends who have helped her to make a success out of it. I felt like I was a part of the story and had a hard time putting it down. Although this is the not the first book in the Greenhouse Mystery series, it can certainly stand alone and doesn't leave the reader confused or have any spoilers about the earlier books. I can't wait to read this series from the beginning and to visit Winsome again.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Greenhouse Mystery series is shaping out to be one of my favorite. The books are all connected but can be read as a standalone if a reader doesn't feel like starting from the very beginning.

Seeds of Revenge has our protagonist, Megan in the middle of a murder mystery involving a man whose dealings may have gotten him killed. Add in the possibility of Megan's great aunt being involved, especially since her books plot seems to be the playbook the murder is following. As the mystery continues to build and the addition of other victims, a secret from the past is slowly being revealed. Can Megan find the killer before the town of Winsome gets embroiled in another death?

Seeds of Revenge will charm readers with its very likable characters, small town charm and multidimensional plot that will continuously baffle readers and keep them guessing whodunit!

SEEDS OF REVENGE; A Greenhouse Mystery by Wendy Tyson is another fabulous work by the author. Tyson’s characters are so well-developed, they might be your neighbor. I’ve never read anything Tyson wrote that wasn’t wonderful. Highly recommend this cozy!

This is the third entry in the Greenhouse Mystery series and a superior cozy. Main character Megan Sawyer, formerly a lawyer in the big city but now an organic farmer living with her grandmother in the country, is a nicely drawn heroine. The rest of the cast, which includes Megan's boyfriend hunky Scottish veterinarian Denver Finn, along with Megan's employees, her grandmother Bibi, and various neighbors and friends, are well fleshed out and appealing. It might be a tad confusing for those who haven't read the previous two entries to keep all the characters and background straight.

Megan is headed back from a sales trip on a wintry night when she stops to pick up a stranded motorist, Becca. Complications immediately ensue -- Becca's aunt Merry is well-know to Megan and her family, but Becca is returning after years away. A staged meeting with her estranged father is uncomfortable for everyone, and it isn't long before bodies and injuries begin piling up.

Is Becca an innocent victim or someone wreaking vengeance for old wounds? An interesting plot with lots of red herrings. Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for furnishing me with an ARC in return for my honest review.

Actually 4.5 stars. What is a love chemist? Find out in the third installment of the Greenhouse mystery series. The protagonist, Megan Sawyer picks up a stranded motorist. This motorist’s estranged father is murdered. Megan needs to clear her aunt.
What a great story. Well written, good characters, and twists. You can pick this up without reading the others. That’s what I did. Thanks to Netgalley, Henery Press, and the author for an opportunity to read this book.

Let’s just put it right out there: I am a Wendy Tyson fan and her latest book Seeds of Revenge lived up to my expectations. This is a well-crafted mystery with enough suspects to be interesting, but not so many that they overwhelm. Once more Tyson injects her legal and psychology backgrounds, along with a love of books, into this story creating a page turner.

Megan Sawyer, a former lawyer who is working toward organic certification for her greenhouse and farm and also owns a café in small town Winsome, becomes involved in solving a murder that focuses on one local family but reaches out to encompass Megan and her family as well.

Megan uses her connections with locals and the police chief, her brains, and her persistence to unravel the many threads of Seeds of Revenge. In the process she has to confront some of her own relationship issues, past and present.

Set in a wintery Christmas season near Philadelphia, the holidays play a minor role as eye candy for the story. It is not a Christmas story by any means. That is just the backdrop for a very good mystery.

I would like to extend my thanks to netgalley.com and to Henery Press for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
