The day of the battle has arrived. A demon army stands between Wyn and the Gate which can transport her to her mother. Will one day of training be enough to help them survive? Will all Guardians make it through alive? And most importantly: Will Wyn be able to kill?
***The omnibus version of this serial has now been released. If you want to read Wyn's story all in one go, I recommend getting the full book rather than reading the five episodes individually (it's cheaper, too).***
Skye MacKinnon is a USA Today & International Bestselling Author whose books are filled with strong heroines who don't have to choose.
She embraces her Scottishness with fantastical Scottish settings and a dash of mythology, no matter if she's writing about Celtic gods, cat shifters, or the streets of Edinburgh.
When she's not typing away at her favourite cafe, Skye loves dried mango, as much exotic tea as she can squeeze into her cupboards, and being covered in pet hair by her tiny black cat (who's secretly a demon).
I remember reading the third episode and thinking "I hope next one will be better". It wasn't. It got the same problem I had with the previous episode - while the writing is good, the story itself is going downhill. First of all, nothing much happened here expect the fighting, during which Wyn has made quite a few questionable or outright stupid decisions. And I'm really not a fan of reading thirty pages of only fighting scenes (unless it's Nevernight or one of Sarah J. Maas's books), with the occasional make out sessions that shouldn't have been there at all. And the ending was confusing as hell. I don't know, I'm starting to lose interest in this serial.
In this installment Skye and her guardians, Chesca the demon and her fiancé head into battle. It's brutal. We watch Wyn use her power to full extent and the lengths she will go to protect those she cares about. Things really heat up in this installment (label not safe to read in public) in the most absolutely perfect, mind blowing way.
I wasn't ready for this war...and apparently neither were the characters. There were losses and sacrifices made and now the fallout must be dealt with. Watching Wyn engage in this fight was nerve wracking. Her powers just continue to grow in ways that she is ill prepared for and it only makes me want to bite a piece out of her mother even more. Why didn't anyone give this girl a freaking directions manual? Jeez.
I spent all my time while reading this episode just waiting for the other shoe to drop and yet when it inevitably did I can honestly say I didn't see from which direction it would come from. Even just imagining the anguished cries from a certain character come off the page tore at my heartstrings and that cliff hanger ending? Yea I'm in desperate need for the next installment...like right this second Skye! lol
I can honestly say that this installment has become my new favorite in the Winter Princess Saga. I was engaged from start to finish and once again inhaled the pages too fast for my liking and was still trying to look for more at the end...
War of Winter is the newest release in the Winter Princess Serial by Skye Mackinnon. Like the rest of this serial the first few pages had me hooked and flipping through the pages dying to know whats going to happen but at the same time wanting to slow down because i did not want it to end.
War of Winter picks up right were the last installment left us, with Winter and her Guardians + Chesca and her Guardian Fiance about to walk into battle. This book primarily focused on the actual battle and the immediate consequences of that. The battle itself was pretty brutal, especially towards the end. This book was equal parts badass and heartbreaking, and yet it was spectacularly awesome. Things with the Guardians finally progress and it is just as mind blowing-ly perfect as you would expect. Arc and Storm are beyond perfect, i think they have to be my two favorite Guardians. Frost is just as adorable as he has been in all installments of this series and then there is Crispin the silent, tortured one that i just want to hug to make it all better.
I loved everything about War of Winter, and after that cliffhanger, Damn Skye i need the next one now!
Oh, the magic and mayhem continue in this 4th installment. Wyn, after only 1 brief lesson is now to be sent in to battle the demon horde guarding the stones they need to access to get to the god realm. And while she's been training the numbers have increased even more! Yay! Everyone has the plan down and they each have tasks to hold to. That is, until something goes wonky with her magic. Were you expecting normal from Wyn?
Poor Wyn, with no time to practice, and 4 very distracting Guardians-not to mention the kidnapping adventures and demon meet and greet-things have been very crazy and hectic in these brief days. Again, Skye managed to fit an entire book into this serial installation. This is her magic.
War of Winter is the 4th episode of the Winter Princess and takes off where the last one left us. Demons blocking the Stones and Wyn had to learn to control her magic. Which she did. A little. And this episode Wyn and her guardians, as well as Chesca and Aodh battle the demons. And what a battle! The fight scenes were brilliant and i like that it wasnt "oh dead demons, whatever" it was real and scary and Wyn's magic having a mind of its own, and that magic had a price, the more powerful and darker it was. Wyn is definitely closer to her men and I am so looking forward to this five part book. So many questions left to be answered. Oh and I LOVE Storm! That is all.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review
After spending her one day training with her Guardians, the time for battle has arrived. It's an intense battle and unfortunately, not all will come out alive. Will Wyn and her Guardians make it through the gate? And if so, what's waiting on the other side?
Holy Cow, this was by far my favorite episode so far. There's so much packed into this one. Wyn learns a little more about her power and what it can do. That's not always a good thing as we've learned.
Skye really turns up the heat on this one too. Let's just label this as too hot for reading in public.
One more episode until they are put together in the omnibus, which you can preorder now.
The battle with demons is on! After her one day of training Wyn is not feeling very confident with the battle, but she's determined to fight by her guardians sides.
It is a bloody fight and Wyn learns a thing or two about her magic. Something happens at the end of the battle (not telling) and it has some interesting effects.
Sexy times!!! Yes! We have some in this episode. So, if you've been waiting, the wait is over!
That ending! This is a serial so it obviously ends on a cliffhanger. But oh so worth it! Only one more episode left and I can't wait!
Fabulous story, but the big surprise at the end!?!? Just wow!
As Wyn and her Guardians go into battle she becomes more confident in herself. But that confidence may be misplaced, as the magic takes over her and she loses control. But once again, that bond with Storm, Frost, Arc and Crispin save her and pull her through. But the voyage crossing between worlds is a different experience for the men and they aren't sure what to make of their arrival on the other side. Can't wait for the conclusion!
War of Winter is the fourth episode in the Winter Princess serial, and as the title suggest it is primarily focused on the actual battle and the immediate consequences of that. But there is also so much more. Man I don't know what to say without giving anything away. I think this is my favourite episode yet. The things Skye is doing to my heart. I want these Guardians for myself and couldn't pick just one. I love these guys and I can't wait for the next episode. I mean seriously why don't I have the next episode now!!
I just finished reading an ARC of this and holy cannoli Skye did NOT leave it on a cliffhanger for book 5... but she's did 😭😭😭😭😭 SERIAL 4 is my favorite of hers thus far omgggg 😍😍😍😍😍 when you get to the last chapter and the very last sentence you'll be like dangit Slye why did you do that? Whyyyyy?! But once serial 5 comes out you'll love her once again just not right away still trying to recover over from shock.
This next installment War of Winter doesn't disappoint! We begin to see the potential of Wyn's mahic and what troubles she may face if she let's it control her. There's an epic battle and some steamy action...what more could you want! Finally...the cliffhanger!! MacKinnon what are you doing to us! I can't wait to read what happens next! In fact I may not be able to control my excitement for that long! Another brilliantly written serial by MacKinnon.
I received a free advanced reader copy of this book and voluntarily decided to review it
Part four of this awesome serial and the excitement ramps up as our heroine Winter goes into battle with her guys and new friends to get through the demons.
The chemistry between Wyn and her boys is electric, her personality matches all of them and compliments their own uniqueness. The storyline is amazing and exciting with romance and humour all in the mix.
Do yourself a favour and read this awesome serial, for those who can wait there will be a bundle at the end of all he episodes in one book. This awesome serial is a must read and I highly recommend
This series had me hooked from the first page and so i thought it couldn't get any better...Well silly me! It got better with every next book 💙
The character development and their relationships are well constructed, you're falling head over heals along with them! Action, love, sarcasm, pain and hilariously good dialogues are combined in Skyes Series, it leaves you breathless and you'll crave for more!!!
This serial just keeps on getting better and better.
Skye knows what we want and she delivers every single time. This book has Wyn and her beautiful sexy guardians fighting the demons to get to the realm her mother is. The battle is action packed and just when you think alls good, she hits you with something else you have to deal with emotionally. She has also delivered on a sexy scene. . . I have been waiting for a sexy scene for what feels like forever (it hasn't though haha)
Slow clap over here. Bravo fine lady. I am so in love with this serial it's not even funny. I can't believe there is only 1 more. I need a never ending supply of Wyn, her Guardians, rainbows and glitter! Everything comes together so well and you get so invested in the characters that you feel like they are your friends. I can't wait to meet the Queen!
This is the fourth installment in a reverse harem serial. It's the day of the battle and Wyn isn't sure she'll be able to control her magic or use it to kill. She has only had one lesson from each of her guardians. This book really heats up in the romance department. I can't wait to read the next one.
I received a free advanced copy of this book for an honest review. Great installment! This series is getting better and better. I can not wait for the next book. This book contained a lot of action. The sexual tension between the characters might just kill me, but I love it!! Wynter is one lucky girl! I want one of each of the guys!
This series keeps getting better and better. Is was touch and go there in the middle, I was on the edge of my seat waiting to find out how they are going to get through the portal. Waiting for the next book!
I've had a lot of fun reading this series and discovering this author! She writes her characters with so much personality and I absolutely love the quirky sense of humor she has infused the heroine with!
This installment does not disappoint! Wyn and the Guardians fight against the demons blocking their way. I absolutely loved it. The ending though, OMG! I need the next one
Another great addition to this series!!! As always I'm dying for the next edition. Wyn is hysterical, whimsical and hormonal! The Guardians are dreamy and perfect in every way ♡♡♡♡♡
I started this series on a rainy day last week and read 1-4 in one sitting as i could not put them down. loved the characters from start to finish and cant wait for more to come.
I received a free ARC copy in exchange for an honest review!
Finally some more action (sexytime) between Wyn & her guardians! The battle was intense. Wyn kicked butt. I really enjoy reading this series & I still love the RH aspect!
Wow, I'm not a violent person and usually I skim over the war part of stories but Skye has written it in such a beautiful way that doesn't dimension the horror of war but instead uses it to their advantage.
