Gilbert Morris was one of today's best-known Christian novelists. He lived in Gulf Shores, Alabama, with his wife, Johnnie. He is the father to Lynn Morris and Alan Morris
Great series set on the frontier during the Revolutionary War. This book deals with threats of betrayal and the fear of losing loved ones. While primarily a historical fiction, it does weave in true elements from the Revolutionary War, and is not afraid to share Faith in Christ as a foundation for all aspects of life. Great read.
It was a good story but I don't think the writing style made for an excellent story. It felt like half text book half fiction. I skimmed most of it and just read the dialogue to see what would happen to the people. The faith content was good.
The spirit of the early United States can be described as a miracle. A powerful nation (Britain) seeks to crush what they call, "a rebellion."
In "Among the King's Soldiers" characters, Sarah, Jacob, Philip, Amanda, and Seth, along with others, must live with the threat of war. When the battle does come, they must bravely fight.
As I read this book, the sense of danger loomed. I received a small sense of what it must have felt like living during those tumultuous days. Against great odds, the new Americans pushed back and won. It makes me love the United States even more.
If we forget our history, we'll loose our direction, our future, our country.
A sister and a brother find love on the American Frontier.
Loved being with Hawk and Elizabeth and their family. Jacob and Amanda both had pasts to let go. But God and love changed their lives. Amanda mother also found love again with Hawk Indian friend. So happy for Seth and Sarah too. Both went through heartache but the love of God and there love for each other got them through. Will read more in this series
I am thoroughly enjoying this entire series. These books are based on solid history from one of my favorite parts of the country. The story line is interesting and filled with messages of God’s Grace and Love. Often it is through our struggles where we grow closest to God, which continues to be illustrated in this book series.
Well, I really liked the first two books in this series, and generally I love historical fiction, but this was a bit much. The plot line was pretty good, but periodically they would interrupt the story with a several page "history lecture" that seemed only slightly related to the plot. The book would have been much better without these historical tangents (although they were very detailed, and somewhat interesting they did not belong in the middle of the book - perhaps as an appendix or something). It was an okay read.
Thank you both againSt. Morris and Mr. McCarver. Another wonderful book in a series. As before the characters are going strong and the setting is vivid.
