On display at the OKC library I visited so I grabbed it... glad I did, might have to buy it. It's probably better than sitting meditation for a "hurricane" child, and the series of poses are mostly easy enough for even me (out of shape, overweight, minor disability) to do. Fun captions explain what frame of mind will help you get the most benefit from each pose.

4.5 stars and highly recommended to interested ppl of all ages.

Really enjoyed this one! If you are into yoga and have kids that are into yoga or want to get your kids into yoga - get this book! Very simple book introducing basic yoga poses. We went through this one as a family and it was a lot of fun. The frog illustrations help to introduce the yoga poses in a clear way in case you are not familiar. The idea of doing yoga to get out of a grumpy mood also helps to get kids interested!

Yoga is an activity that can be done by anyone of any age and in any kind of athletic shape. It has been proven to help with balance, muscle strength, flexibility, headaches, and stress.  I have incorporated yoga moves when I am subbing either in PE class as a warm-up activity or in the regular classroom as a brain break activity. I always feel better after doing yoga and reading this book has reminded me again, that I need to fit yoga moves into my regular daily routine.

This book is a perfect introduction to yoga for young children. Each page shows the frog doing one move, with the next page explaining the name of the move in a simple format.

The explanations are easy for children to understand....as long as they know their body parts. Will a three-year-old know what their chin or spine is? Maybe. If not, this is an excellent opportunity to teach the body parts to your child. The pictures help show what words like "arch" or "squat" mean. But, kids will have to know where some of the critical body parts used for yoga are located on their body like palms, spine, and chin. If a parent does the poses along with the child it gives the child another opportunity to learn the poses.

The book explains that doing a bit of yoga can help a person feel happier, stronger, and it's a great way to start your day. The book includes eighteen different poses that flow well from one page to the next. The beginning pages warm the body up and the final pages relax the body. It also emphasizes breathing which many forget to do while holding their poses. It seems natural to hold your breath, but breathing through the poses is extremely important. The end of the book also includes a poster that could be torn out and hung up or taken out that shows a photo of a frog doing all eighteen poses.

You can also purchase the Yoga Frog in addition to the book. This Yoga Frog is bendable and can help kids understand by forming the frog into the pose that is needed. An additional mini version of the book is also included that is perfect for travel.

I will be using this book as well as the frog in the classroom. It will make explaining the poses so much easier to the younger kids and they will enjoy taking turns molding the frog in the specific yoga position. I truly believe yoga is beneficial for children who need a way to calm themselves or a way to start their morning or end their day. It could even be a family activity. Each of the pose names is an animal so it makes it easier for kids to grasp the position and remember it as well. I have found the book helpful and learned a few new yoga positions to add to my routine as well.

Hello, friends! Our book today is Yoga Frog, written by Nora Carpenter and illustrated by Mark Chambers, a wonderful introduction to yoga from a very flexible frog.

Just like you, Yoga Frog can sometimes feel stressed, or anxious, or just plain yucky. But when he’s feeling this way, he likes to practice his yoga poses, and he invites to you join in. Moving through eighteen different poses from Mountain to Resting, Yoga Frog shows how the readers should position themselves, sometimes making notes about the intention or goal of the pose. After he’s moved through his session, Yoga Frog feels much better – and hopes you do too!

Very cute! There’s a lot to like from this yoga primer, especially the clear yet charming demonstrative illustrations, the text that helps connect little bodies and minds to the poses, and the inclusion of the Sanskrit translations of every pose. As in other kids’ yoga books, the decision was made to change the names of some of the poses (Warrior becomes Giraffe, Child’s Pose is called Hawk In Nest, etc.). It’s kind of an odd choice, especially because it was done for so many poses here, and might turn off readers looking for more accuracy. However, if the idea is simply to start teaching wiggly little bodies to calm and center themselves, this is a great book to start with. The illustrations are fun, JJ loved the little frog, and the length was easily read through in a sitting. Overall, Baby Bookworm approved!

(Note: A copy of this book was provided to The Baby Bookworm by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.)

This book is so AWESOME. I love yoga and cannot wait to introduce it to the kids in my classes this summer. I know that they will love it too. There is something that is quite freeing and lovely about doing yoga with kids. Teaching them this practice could create lifelong habit of healthy living. Yoga is great because it can be done anywhere and it doable for all fitness levels. The illustrations are just too sweet. I love this yoga frog so much!!! I also love that there are easy to follow instructions on each page. It makes it simple for kids and adults alike to feel successful doing yoga together. This book is a full flow from start to finish. A great way to start or end the day! A must for all home libraries and schools too!

Yoga Frog is a children's picture book written by Nora Carpenter and illustrated by Mark Chambers. It is a book about a yoga-loving frog as he practices his daily poses for all to see.

Carpenter's text is simplistic and straightforward. The text describes each yoga pose very well and how to do them safely. Chambers' illustration is beautifully rendered and shows each pose rather accurately as well – even if the yoga practitioner is a frog.

The premise of the book is rather straightforward. The frog protagonist begins his day going through his yoga routine using several poses like Mountain, Chair, Giraffe, Cat-Cow, Downward-Facing Dog, Butterfly, Bridge, Happy Baby, and my all-time favorite Savasana pose. The text describes each yoga pose rather well and how to do them.

All in all, Yoga Frog is a wonderful children's book about a frog and his yoga practices. It is a playful yet instructive illustration to teach the reader how to start his or her very own yoga practice and to have fun while doing so.

Yoga frog guides readers through a variety of different yoga positions/stretches in this fun introduction to yoga practice. Positions are described in text along with their names. Accompanying illustrations show frog assuming all of the positions. An author's note outlines some of the benefits of yoga - particularly for children. (A poster of the entire flow is included at the end of the book.) This is a fun introduction to yoga, and the positions described are not too difficult/challenging for beginners. Bright green frog is super cute and upbeat, too.

What in this book makes you believe the frog is meditative and mindful? The frog has no characterization. He's only there to demonstrate the poses, and a child would be more helpful to a young reader. It's not a bad book overall, but the content might be better suited to a book aimed at helping adults lead children in yoga as part of a fitness program or parents wanting to involve their children in their own yoga practice. This book won't do much for a child on its own.

Athough an important concept and activity for youngsters, the images of the frog doing various poses is difficult to, even for me (a practicing yogi for 3 years).

My kids love Yoga Frog and I do too! The book is colorful, engaging and gives fun detailed descriptions of so many different poses. It has been really refreshing to see my children excited about learning a new skill and having an awesome time doing it! It also allows me to brush up on my own practice and share something that I love with my little ones.
