This Biblical fiction book covers the life of Moses from birth to death. The Biblical foundation and historical research is evident throughout Morris' writing. I watched Moses through the ups and downs of his life as he constantly tried to follow God's direction. First, through his and his brother, Aaron's endeavors to get Pharaoh to let the Hebrews go. Then through the years of wandering in the desert. Even though Moses had a "Why me?" attitude at times and used various excuses to God for why he had chosen the wrong man, Moses did follow God's directions to the best of his ability throughout his life. This definitely made me realize that God can use anyone no matter what their weakness or disability (Moses supposedly stuttered), for His purposes. It also demonstrated that with God's leading, someone can do a lot more than they think they are capable.

Such a good book. Loved hearing the story of Moses again. He has always been one of my favorite people to read and learn about.

A retelling of the story of Moses of Biblical times from his birth through leading the Israelite children through the wilderness to the Promise Land where he could not enter.
The life and times of those people come alive by researched details that are very approprriate. Looking forward to searching out the other 5 books of this The Lions of Judah series.

Great biblical story brought to life

I have now read 5 of this series of books and find they have each attempted to bring the scriptures alive. It is not easy to understand a culture of so long ago but these books have given me a deeper understanding.

This is one of my favorite books that I have ever read! I have read it over 3 times. The story is about the life of Moses, his disciples, his relatives, and his long journey. I'm not sure why I was into this book so much, maybe it was Moses' compassion for what he does and for his god, or the bond between him and his family. Never the less it was a great book. I think the best parts of the book where his Moses' Nephew would have love problems and not see that the love of his life was always there at his side, ironic isnt it?

Outstanding book about Moses and the new nation of Israel.

This is a book of real history. Mr Gilbert did an outstanding job of telling a story that is told in the Bible in four books. This is a real story of the birth of a nation.

The other books are better, I liked #1 and #4. Some of the side stories are almost the same and it didn’t give new life to the biblical story in the same way. It has some good parts, but I just got tired of the book.
