I first encountered Dani Harper back in 2011 with her Changeling series and then I proceeded with the Grim books. It's been a few years since I read book 3, I didn't even know this one had been released but browsing through Kindle Unlimited UK proved very fruitful indeed, 5 Stars fruitful!!!

The Grim books can be read as standalones but the characters are carried forward so although it has been a few years since I read the last books, I immediately remembered the characters from the past.

Ms Harper has a wonderful way of writing, she brings her characters to life and keeps me entertained until the final words. Storm Crossed took me back to the 'fae' world and to friends from the past but this time we have a young child involved. Fox has Asperger's and the way this is written into the storyline is absolutely amazing, the interaction between Fox and the animals is very touching and additionally the interaction between mother and son.

Another lovely additions to Dani Harper's already wonderful library and definitely books well recommended.

I've been enjoying this series and I'm looking forward to more. While it's more urban fantasy than PNR, the romances have been sweet and Lissy and Trahern's was no exception. She was a match for him, standing up to him and holding her ground when it mattered to her but able to back off when necessary. He was fae arrogant at first, admiring her yet also sure that he was right and knew best, and yet he was able to admit when he was wrong and was willing to consider other perspectives. I love that this series incorporates fae and Welsh mythology. Those are not common in urban fantasy and since I love mythology, I've enjoyed seeing Harper's take on them.

While this would probably work as a stand alone, I enjoyed it more having read the stories of all of the characters who appear. The couples from earlier books make appearances as do some of the fae characters. I love Ranyon; he's so kind, sweet, smart-assy, practical, and hilarious. He's got a cool head on his shoulders and I really want him to get his own HEA. I also think Lurien needs an HEA. Lord of the Wild Hunt, he's a key figure in the series and a good man. He has a strong moral code, a quick mind, and amazing patience. Okay, I confess; I have a thing for him. Maybe the next book will be his? Pleeeeeeaaase?

But back to "Storm Crossed". :) As I mentioned, Lissy and Trahern make a great couple. Their relationship wasn't rushed but developed slowly. Trahern had to adjust himself to the human way of thinking and Lissy had to learn about the fae way of thinking. Dealing with her son Fox, who has Aspergers and is also magical, teaches Trahern that he has a lot to learn. Harper handled the autism sensitively and with care. Her portrayal of Fox was both realistic and respectful and he wasn't cured or fixed. He's accepted and appreciated for who he is. Lissy's family and circle of friends are his too and they are awesome. Harper writes wonderful characters; they're flawed, caring, smart, funny, strong, and capable. Add in humor, romance, action, fae politics, mythology, and it all adds up to a delightful story.

Ok I haven't read any other books in this series but found I really didn't need to in order to understand the plot. It's obvious that Lissy comes from a line of humans with a little something special, call it foresight, call it intuition but she's pretty relieved that she doesn't have any obvious abilities. What's really got the protective Lissy rattled though are the signs that Fox her young son does seem to be more like her mum. Fox is bright and yet due to his Aspergers struggles with touch, sensations and the outside world in general but Lissy is determined he will have as normal a life as possible. Problem is normal goes out the window when a giant dog follows him home one night!
Trahern and his brother Braith are at the not so tender mercies of their thoroughly selfish, power hungry mother. She tricked Trahern into trapping his brother in a magical form but Trahern found a way out of her court and now all he wants is to save Braith. What he doesn't need is an angry human woman shouting at him and generally making him feel he in the wrong. What kind of magic is this? Yet the more he sees Lissy the more he admires her but his mothers spies are everywhere and danger is closer than they think.
I really liked Lissy as she's protective and yet not suffocating when it comes to Fox. What let this story down for me was Trahern. He's this big bad sorcerer and yet came across as quite tame. Honestly I'd have much rather seen Lissy on the cover as she dominated every scene she was in. That being said I do understand that Trahern struggles with emotions and in particular love but relished seeing him get the sharp end of the hysterical Ranyons tongue but to discover more you really will need to read the book yourself.
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

Storm Crossed was my first Dani Harper book. I've been meaning to try her books for some time and particularly when I saw this Grim series debut- loved the concept of stories around the fae and particularly the Grim legends. All the wonderful research she did into myths and legends and shared in her newsletter and blog posts really captivated my interest so it was with great anticipation I put in my earbuds and settled in to listen.

While Storm Crossed is book four in the Grim series and, of course, its probably good to read series in order, I had no trouble picking this one up. The main story and characters were new and worked just fine standalone. It was only by going back and checking that I discovered that a few of the side characters were the main characters of their own stories. Series fans will get updates to earlier stories, but new readers will do just fine.

Storm Crossed is a cross between settings in the fae realms and the human. It divided the narration between Trahearn, a fae prince and rider of the Wild Hunt, and Lissy, a human widow who teaches science and cares for a son with Asperger's.

The author has created a fantastic fae world and I liked how it sat juxtaposed beside the modern human world. The fae world was exotic and alien. I felt she got it just right. There is the wonder of an all magical world with beings of timelessness and age, magic, and all different rules. I can't praise it enough.

And her circle of characters- human and fae- were all well drawn and engaging. There were the truly evil ones, the shades of gray, and the good, yet vulnerable and flawed. I enjoyed watching both Trahearn and Lissy grow along the journey of this book. Trahearn is so certain and confident in many ways- a true prince of the fae, but he's out of his element trying to figure out humans and staying on Lissy's good side. Lissy, for her part, has made her whole world revolve around her son's special needs so that she is strung pretty tight. She unleashes her temper and then has to realize Trahearn and others are trustworthy and on her side. Fox, a child with Asperger's, was spot on. He is written just as it really was, based on my experience teaching two children who were Aspies. More importantly, each situation and character around him was written to suite such a situation, too.

My only niggle was that I felt the central third of the story needed some trimming up. The pace slowed way down and I felt like it was never going to get back to and address the conflict introduced in the beginning. I understood that some of it was absolutely necessary so relationships were developed and situations are established like For'x training with Trahearn and Lissy and Trahearn figuring out each other's ways and Lissy working out that she's ready for a new relationship and Trahearn is ready for his first relationship. I would not want to miss these steps of development and show rather than tell, but yes, I did started mentally drumming my fingers.

Prolific and talented, Justine Eyre, was the narrator, and believe it or not, I think it was my first encounter with her work. I thought she did great with the accents and age ranges of the characters. Her adult male voices could be similar, but not unpleasant to listen to. I was just okay with the emotional portrayals, particularly of Lissy and her girlfriends. I felt at times they were slightly over the top for the situation. That said, I couldn't tell if it was the writing or the narrator's interpretation that was causing me to feel that way. I definitely would listen to more of her audio work.

And speaking of more, I'll summarize by saying that I really enjoyed Storm Crossed and want to go back for the earlier books in the series and continue on to more Grim stories. Paranormal Romance lovers who enjoy having their stories steeped strongly in the fae world of myth and magic should give this series a try.

My thanks to Brilliance Audio for the opportunity to listen to this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! This could very well be my favorite of the Grim series. I absolutely loved Trahern and Lissy. He was a sorcerer and could have swatted her down like a fly but she didn’t care. She didn’t take any of his shit when it came to her son, ever. She just had to learn that her 9 year old son, who suffered from Asperger’s Syndrome was even a better sorcerer than Trahern, and that was really saying something since Trahern was way, way, way old and was always learning. And Trahern had the patience of a saint while he was trying to teach Fox. The story and Fox were just amazing.

However, as great as everyone else was NO ONE was a wonderful as Ranyon, the little magical twig-like creature called an Ellyll. And Justine Eyre gave Ranyon the same funny voice in all 4 books. He was amazing. He had to stand on a chair to be as tall as anyone else, he was very little, with arms and legs like twigs from a tree and hair like leaves.

So, I’m going to assume the next book will be about Braith, Trahern’s twin brother. The brother that Eirianwen, their own mother, turned into a Grim (a very big dog) that ran with the Wild Hunt, from the Fairy Realm. Hopefully, it won’t take two years to write the next book.

There were a couple of explicit sex scenes but they were definitely NOT erotic. And the F-bomb was used 2 times.

As to the narrator: I’m really not a big fan of Justine Eyre but she does do a great job on these stories.

What a terrific read. I have loved this series and was so excited for this addition. It didn’t disappoint at all. It picked up,with all the beloved characters and we got to meet new ones!

The characters as always had great depth and made a journey throughout the story. They grew and became even better by the end. The writing is outstanding and you can’t put the book down until it is finished!

Lissy was so strong and you could relate to her on so many levels. She was outstanding in trying to understand her child and do all she could to help him, but also letting him be a child too! She touched my heart! Trahern was very interesting and made me laugh out loud with him trying to abide by human customs. His learning that he had love in him and it made him stronger and not weaker was touching.

I loved it! I would hope that there is another story for Trahern’s brother. He needs a HEA! So does the Master of the Hunt! He makes my heart ache for him!

I received an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley. Thank you!

(RabidReads.com)I’d seen Dani Harper books around for awhile, but had never tried one until now. I think I picked a pretty good one to start with. This is book 4 of her Grim series, but was assured by the blurb that it was standalone. For the most part this is true, although you can tell that some of the side characters were in the other books, so this is good news for people that have read those books. Me? I have already gone back and bought book one.

Trahern is a twin and a member of the House of Oak in the world of the Fae. Many years before, his mother, a very evil sorceress, had changed his twin, Braith, into a Grim(a huge immortal dog)for life-for having the audacity to want to pick his own mate for love. To thwart her, Trahern starts riding with The Wild Hunt, where she can’t touch him. He has brought his brother(the grim)along with him and tirelessly devotes his time off trying to free his brother from the spell. When Braith decides to go off on his own to protect a nine year old boy on the earth plane, Trahern has to find out what’s happening. Lissy is the widowed mom of Fox, a boy with Asperger’s Syndrome-a type of high functioning autism. What she doesn’t know is that Fox is a rare sorcerer, along the scale of Merlin. Of course, Trahern has to step in to train him after immediately feeling his magic.

Lissy grew up with magic as members of her family either had some or practiced. Her friend Brooke is a practitioner of magic as well. So she is aware of the fae, and of magic. She is not aware of Fox being so powerful though. So she has to trust her son to Trahern’s training. It’s not hard when she is almost immediately drawn to him-and he to her. Problem? Trahern grew up believing that love doesn’t exist. Yes, that’s not going to be a problem long!

Fae world building can be hit or miss for me and much of the time I am not a fan. I guess that’s why I read more shifter and vampire books. That being said, I quite enjoyed this author’s world building and her use of The Wild Hunt. It was easily pictured and at times reminded me of medieval times with castles and a queen and her court. The members of The Wild Hunt were also pretty fascinating, while still being in the background with the exception of Trahern and Lord Lurien, the master of the hunt.

Narration by Justine Eyre was good. I have listened to her several times before so her voice was very familiar to me. And enjoyable as well. There’s a lot of Welsh words used, and spells used were loosely based on a form of Welsh, so at times I had a hard time understanding them. That was absolutely not due to the narration though. Her male voices were good and one of my main criteria with a female narrator or vice versa with a male one. One little fae character had a very distinctive voice and it was well done-and actually fun. So narration was a 4.5 stars for me.

Highly recommended to adult(language, sensual scenes, some violence)readers of paranormal romance and urban fantasy fans will find a lot to like about this book as well.

Storm Crossed - Audio Book

For those of you how prefer the short and simple version of reviews here you go: I enjoyed this book. It has a good blend of realistic motherhood and Fae magic. They both play an equal and important part in the story. The characters have depth. The story is paced just right so that the story is well developed. It's a love story but it's not overdone. The story has a good mixture of humor, magic, love, sex, and action. It's mild enough that your mature teenager (16 -18) would enjoy it and but luckily for adults it doesn't have the adolescent speech or banter. It's a grown up book with grown up themes but nothing they won't see on CBS. Her writing style reminds me of Dannika Dark.

Now for my ranting and raving.... I'd like to thank Dani Harper for proving Adult Fantasy doesn't mean porn. This author wrote an adult fantasy novel about Fae that doesnt have sex on every page. Though I too enjoy occasional love scenes they need to have a purpose other than just filling the pages.

For some reason, the last 20 books I've read about Fae/Fairies were sex, sex, sex... and I'm not even gonna mention the LKH series.

But this other has brought us a LOVE story. About L.O.V.E. Can you believe it?

And on top of that... it's actually a GOOD story. The Fae prince falls for a human woman with a child. The prince comes with his own baggage including an evil fae queen mother.

My dislikes:

I didn't like that fact that, Lissy, is such a whiner when it comes to Trahern. There is a part where she freaks out because the horses aren't touching the ground. REALLY? If your boo is Fae who does magic, do you really need an explanation about a flying horse? C'mon man!

I didn't like that the climax was so short. When Tahren finally faces the evil queen there was an opportunity to expand there. More mind games and scheming before the big battle.

Overall, I enjoyed how Dani presents the story of mothering an autistic child. It's done really well. Many mother's struggle and fumble and showing these parents even if there is a bad day, it doesn't mean you have failed. It's just a bad day. Also some of the children struggle with expressing their feelings, it doesn't mean they are incapable of feeling them. Well done to an author that researched for her book. Now there will be those how say that some of it was over the top, so to those people I say IT'S A DAMN BOOK NOT A BIO. IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE DRAMATIC.

The narrator for this one is Justine Eyre. She voiced each character well. I especially enjoyed her narration of Taharyn (whether it was an authentic accent or not). People often complain on the Irish or Scottish accents, but to a southern girl like me, I thought she sounded good.

I have to be honest and tell you that while I have been intrigued by this series for some time, various life events have intruded upon my time and I kept getting distracted from reading it. I am very sorry to have done so, because after finally reading one, I can’t believe what a great world I have been missing.

There are plenty of fae books out there and each and every author puts there unique touches to their worlds and Dani Harper has done the Grim or Black Dog legends proud. She brought her world to life by painting very vivid images of it and giving readers some strong, compelling characters that reach out and grab reader’s attention.

Trahern and Lissy are two of those characters and I have to tell you that they have some strong chemistry that practically leaps off the pages during their romance. Both pull readers in and refuse to let go as their story is full of emotional turmoil as well as heated passion and their personalities are realistically human and fae sounding which makes for a really great romance to get caught up in. Lissy’s son and Trahern’s brother also play an integral part of this romance which adds depth and also adds to the realness of the story as well as tugging on heart strings.

Add in the Wild Hunt, an unbalanced power hungry fae queen, well-meaning friends and some other intriguing characters and you have a well-rounded story full of suspense and thrills that keep readers glued to the pages and that’s not to mention the adrenaline pumping magical battles that the author brings to vivid life.

Well, I have to be going now because I am off to read the first three books in this series since I am such a goof that I missed them, oh and I want to point out that I had no trouble reading this one out of order and I can’t wait to find out what this author has in store for me not only that I have missed but what she writes in the future.

I have to say from the start, this series has been one adventurous ride with highs and lows, twist and turns, and most of all intriguing romances between unlikely pairs. This fourth installments have proved to be the best one of them all, at least for me. I love PNR/Urban Fantasy. I find release and freedom with each new world that I find and can have spectacular journey through.

Trahern finds that as the heir to a noble house he had great responsibilities. He also finds that his bond with his brother (twin) leads him in a different direction. Finding his brother now a grim, he takes part in the hunt. During this hunt he comes face-to-face with something he never thought would be part of his life. Fae and human contact was not forbidden but the depths of what Trahern was traveling was way more than he should have committed to.

Lissy had her moments of pure foolery. She took too many chances. She was the sole caregiver for her son (Fox). She needed to take a step or two back at times and evaluate what she was doing, but at the same time she was a mother that would do whatever it took for her child. Fox was just too adorable. He was capable of far more than he was given credit for.

Ranyon follows through the books and I find that I like him more with each passing book. He was one of those supposed background creatures that makes you fall in love. The romance was there but it took time. The bonding was subtle but strong. The development of the story gave me much to vision. I look forward to the new additions to this series. I have a series here that can be read over and over again. I loved that the stories have a cohesion but are not the same copy of each other.

Drawback was that Lissy seemed to be off in some places like she may have been on just another level of consciences or just confused. I felt I could have used a bit more of Braith, but who’s to say that I wont see more of him in the future.

The Grim Series by Dani Harper

FYI: this is a short review of the series so there will be a bit about each book in the review.

I loved this series and read all 4 books in a row [Storm Warrior, Storm Bound, Storm Warned, Storm Crossed]. Well actually I listened to all 4 books – I found it easier than trying to figure out the pronunciation of the occasional bit of Welsh. The narrator was outstanding – good use of voice, good pacing, and she got to figure out how to pronounce the Welsh.

The setting is Wales, the Nine Realms of the Tylwyth Teg [the Fae or Fair Folk of Welsh legend – if you're thinking of Tolkein's elves forget it – although impossibly beautiful most of them are NOT pleasant and tend to look upon others as toys or pawns], and modern Washington State. The author mixes the politics of the Nine Realms, the Wild Hunt, Grims [a Grim is a great black dog that serves as a herald of death], and modern Washington with a side order of Ren Faires. She does a good job of giving you what you need to know about Welsh history and mythology within the story flow without burying you in facts.

Storm Warrior
Hero: Rhys, a Welsh warrior who fought against the Romans approximately 2000 years ago. After escaping from the Romans he is captured by the Tylwyth Teg and turned a Grim.
Heroine: Morgan, a Washington veterinarian, visits Wales as part of a tour. She keeps seeing this huge black dog everywhere they go and feels sorry for it and offers it kindness. After returning to Washington she is attacked and would have died, should have died, but the Grim intervenes sacrificing his immortality to save her. He is badly injured but she is determined to save him, taking him home to care for him after the surgery to save his life. She is very surprised to find a naked man in place of her dog the next morning, almost as surprised as he is…

The remainder of the story involves Rhys finding a place in Morgan's world and Morgan's life – with many complications thrown in by the Tylwyth Teg – on the way to their happily ever after.

Storm Bound
Hero: Aidan, a 12th century Welsh blacksmith, is taken by Fae princess on his wedding day. His refusal to dishonor his fiancée and come to her bed enrages her and he is changed into a Grim until he agrees.
Heroine: Brooke, a modern day witch who accidentally saves Aiden from death. Since the princess is not happy to have lost her toy complications result.

Storm Warned
Hero: Liam is a musician whose world crashed when his wife was unfaithful – in living color on YouTube. He is now a reclusive farmer who has given up music in all forms.
Heroine: Caris is an 18th century Welsh farm girl with a gift for music that is truly magical. Taken by a plotting Fae princeling, Caris and her ability to influence others with her music is 'stored' for future use by turning her into a Grim. Complications ensue…

Storm Crossed
Heroes: Trahern, a Fae sorcerer, becomes part of the Wild Hunt in his efforts to save his twin brother, Braith, from the machinations of their mother who has turned him into a Grim.
Heroine: Lissy Santiago-Callahan, the single mother of an autistic child who seems to have access to great magical powers.
Time passes while they ride with the Hunt and Trahern continues to attempt to free Braith, but to no avail. Then suddenly Braith attaches himself to a child, a human child, and refuses to leave. Trahern is fearful but comes to realize that he too wants to protect the child, and the mother. Both Trahern and Lissy feel that mortal and immortal have nothing in common but they find they do. And yes, complications arise both from the Fae world and from the real world difficulties of raising an autistic child.

Each story serves well as a stand-alone but there is a lot character overlap. Can you read them without having read them all or in the right order? Sure, but I think reading them in order enriches the stories but that may just be me. There is also appears to be a series arc going on with Lurien, the Lord of the Wild Hunt, and Gwenhidw, widowed Queen of the Fae.

The Grim series of this writing:
Storm Warrior
Storm Bound
Storm Warned
Storm Crossed

I truly hope the author continues the series…

It's been awhile since I've read the other 3 in this series. I could argue this works as a stand alone, but it is better enjoyed if you've read the first 2 books in the series since Morgan & Rhys and Brooke & Aidan are in this one. This one is about Lizzy and her son Fox. Fox is super special in that he has an enormous amount of magical ability. Complicating that is Fox also has Asperger's. Lizzy has adapted her life to accommodate that.
Trahern is a fae sorcerer. A long time ago, his brother (Braith) fell in love with the wrong woman and refused marriage to another of the Queen's chosing. He was cursed into a Grim. Fox is able to communicate with Braith. Braith has a way of centering Fox. Trahern senses his untrained magic and agrees to teach. There is an instant attraction between Lizzy and Trahern that gradually turns into more.
I had a hard time getting into this one. I might have enjoyed this more, had I not waited awhile to read it since reading the first 2.

I enjoyed the audible version of this book. This is the 4th of the Grim Series that I have read and thought it was the weakest. Throughout the entire book, until the last few chapters, we are attacked with different versions of Lissy's anger. When she isn't angry she is indignant because Trahern may not have asked her permissions to do something....even if it's something that saved her life. She is supposed to be brave but I saw more foolishness than bravery....asking obvious questions and being angry over small issues.
The action at the end was written well and I enjoyed it but you had to get through the beginning to get there. The writing was not well done and although I gave it 3 stars because the overall ending was good I would not recommend it.

I really hope this isn't the end of the series, I've enjoyed reading about the fae and the humans that they can't seem to help but interact with.
In each book we've seen a human cursed to the life of a Grim and serve the fae kingdom, but this book added a bit of a twist. This time, it is one of the fae's own royalty cursed to be a Grim but when he escapes and travels to the human realm the lines between fae and human will be crossed in an unimaginable way.
I love the magic and mystery of the fae realm and hope we get to see more of the characters that we've met throughout the series.

I really enjoyed this fourth installment in the Grim series. I didn't read the first three but I may continue with this series. I loved the child MC Fox, and his dealing with Asperger's disease as well as having magic powers. I loved Lissy (his mom) and the fae prince Trahern. They came together very nicely and each stood their own when needed.

I need to start off by saying that despite this being book 4 in Dani Harper's Grim series, when they describe it as a stand-alone novel, it is really a standalone novel.

Of course, there was a little bit of fall back with some information from previous books (particularly with the relationships prior) which made some of the beginning confusing, but after finishing the full book, I think that it was a good thing that there wasn't a lot of repetitive retelling of the first 3 books – it was the one thing that I believe made the book a successful standalone.

There wasn't a lot of discord within characters, which wasn't really my thing but I understood that all that had probably been addressed in previous books and that the main arc of this storyline was not about the inner turmoil of adjusting to the fact magic existed, as much as it was the romance and relationships. The whole storyline just continued as most of the main characters already knew about magic, so it was a very fluid thing (again, fluid from the first three books of the series).

Fox. This cutie, I loved him so much – he loves his animals and the way he sees the world was incredible, I kind of want to see more of what he sees. Harper did an incredible job when writing him; it didn't seem forced, or sugar-coated and that was refreshing.

Trahern – the brooding male lead of this book was all that. I loved him too; he was raised in a survival mode in a cruel circumstance of birth, but he has a heart of gold and I have a weakness for men with hearts of gold.

Lissy, our main character, was a good perspective to read from for majority of the book (of course, we also got to see things from Trahern's point of view as well), but at some points, I did find her a little bit too placid with everything that was happening to her. This is that "not a lot of discord within characters" thing coming back around – I feel like it would have benefited for her to have a bit more depth in her struggle to accept the facts that her family was becoming the centre of something much bigger than her.

Overall, the pace of this book was pretty average – it picked up about halfway through for me and from there each chapter spurred on into the next one. The storyline itself was an enjoyable read and I can see myself reading the rest of the series, particularly as I did enjoy Harper's writing style.

I received this book as an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

BOOK BLURB

The latest stand-alone novel in Dani Harper’s Grim Series will delight old and new fans alike, transporting them to the ancient fae realm beneath the modern human world, where magic rules and menace abounds…

Heir to a noble fae house, Trahern is forced to watch helplessly as his twin brother is cruelly changed into a grim—a death dog—as punishment for falling in love with the wrong person. Trahern doesn’t believe love exists, but he will do anything to keep his brother alive—even join the Wild Hunt and ride the night skies of the human world.

Lissy Santiago-Callahan believes in love but has no time for it. She’s busy juggling her career as an academic and her home life as a single mom to a young son with Asperger’s. Her hectic life in sleepy eastern Washington is made even more chaotic with the sudden arrival of a demanding fae and his unusual “dog.”

Mortal and immortal have nothing in common, and the attraction between Lissy and Trahern surprises them both. But when their desire places Lissy and her child in the path of a deadly faery feud, will the connection last, or will their separate worlds prove too great a divide?

My Thoughts

When the opportunity came available, thank you Montlake Publishing, downloaded a Netgalley ARC copy of the book to read because it was billed as a stand-alone in the Grim
series. Although this is the 4th book it really does stand on it's own with just the right amount of scenes with characters from the previous books that give readers a little taste to whet their curiosity about the first three tales.

What made me give into my desire to read this particular book was a fondness for all things involving fae/human romances, the elements promising scenes with the Wild Hunt and a few other things that caught my interest immediately. Not least of those was the fact have read and enjoyed works penned by author Dani Harper already.

As knew I would totally regret not reading the previous three books. Not because felt this 4th book needed back story from them but because missed out on what I suspect were wonderful reading experiences just like this was.

The transitions from fae world to the human world were seamlessly integrated and beautifully detailed so there was no doubt which was which.

For me the book was a perfect blend of fantasy and reality, love and hate, joy and sorrow and all the other elements melded together that make a story work from beginning to end smoothly and effortlessly for readers.

*I won this book for free in a Goodreads giveaway in exchange for an honest review.

This is the kind of fantasy book that I love to read! I love the inter-connected worlds and the different species, and with a bit of romance this book definitely takes the cake. Elegantly written, I loved the story line and everything about it.

Being able to understand a book when it's later on in the series is amazing, and Storm Crossed wasn't confusing at any point. Every event was clear and described well enough so I could visualize it. I valued this aspect more so than any other, and the author did an excellent job at making this book unique yet very easy to follow.

The characters were vastly different in their own ways, whether it be personality or difference in species. Each individual character felt as real as life itself, and I loved how everyone in the story had meaning. Specifically, I loved Fox and how his disorder wasn't considered a handicap but just something special about him. The relationship that slowly comes about between two of the characters is romantic although peculiar, but still was exciting to read.

Another aspect I loved about Storm Crossed was how it kept my attention throughout the entire book. Some parts were nonchalant and others were action-packed, but regardless of what chapter I was in the story never got boring. Storm Crossed is, without a doubt, one of the best fantasy books I've read.

I absolutely adored reading this book! For someone wanting to introduce themselves to the fantasy genre, Storm Crossed would be a great start. With an excellent story line, amazing characters, and an appealing writing style, Dani Harper proves to be a phenomenal author!

Don't be the end! Please don't let it be the end!!

Ok, I take it back. THIS ONE is my favorite!! 💖💕 Please, don't leave us hanging on a cliffhanger. Even though I didn't read the stories in order (3, 1, 2, 4) I loved the characters with their unique dilemmas. I kind of felt bad throughout the series for the Lord of the Hunt. And at the end, for Braith. Bummer. Regardless, Trahern is my favorite Fae by far! 💖💕

Lissy is adorable dealing with an autistic child and nosy neighbors. Fox is a very special, kind boy. And apparently likes the same cartoons this 45 year old watches.

You can feel the connection between Lissy and Trahern. Must special one, is the connection one feels between Prince Trahern and our special boy Fox. The kind of love portrayed is not just romance. Is the love of friendship, or the love for those closest to you.

All in all, these books were so well written, I purchased the three I borrowed on Kindle Unlimited, as soon as I returned it in order to buy it. The Audible was amazing!! 💖 It is truly a voice actress. Wow. 💕 Justine Eyre. Definitely WOW!! The audible was exemplary. Bringing a world to life in the mind without boredom, takes a good writer. Making it play in the mind as if vivid colors, takes a good story teller. It helped reading along the strange Welsh words. Listened more than read because of work. When reading, still didn't see the words. It was a wonderful thing being immersed in this world. Dreaming with your eyes opened. 💕

Please, don't leave us wanting to know if our Queen will ever find her King. The friendships. Fox's dragon which is a part of him (not anymore.. ). Well, EVERYONE!!

First off, this is the forth book in the Grim Series and I came into this series without reading the first books. This book stands very well on its own. I am wanting to pick up the first three now but do not stress if you haven't read them yet.

I very much enjoyed STORM CROSSED. It is the first fantasy that has an autistic child and actually addresses some of their issues along with the solutions being put into place to address them. I have some very good friends that have autistic children who would find it amusing to see a realistic portrayal in a fantasy book.

As you can tell, I just loved the characters. The author should also get kudos for how well she did in her world building. I grew up around Walla Walla and I was able to recognize it from the descriptions.

If you are looking for an enjoyable urban fantasy then be sure to pick up STORM CROSSED! I highly recommend it to my readers.

To prepare to read Storm Crossed, book #4 in The Grim Series, written by Dani Harper and published under the Montlake Romance brand. I streamed the audiobook version of Storm Warrior and totally enjoyed the book. Since the audio version isn’t available for download unless I wanted to pay for a subscription to Audible. I had to read Storm Crossed. It took me several starts and stops to finally get through the story. Nonetheless, I can finally say that I finished. I didn’t enjoy this title as much as I did the Storm Warrior, but that might have been because I listened to the first story instead of reading. Now if this title would ever become available as a free audiobook companion with my Kindle Unlimited subscription, I would give this title a second try. Even though the story had a slow pace, I am enjoying the world that Dani Harper has created.

I loved this story. This is a paranormal romance involving realms besides the human one and faes and legendary creatures. I loved Trahern and his brother and their relationship with both Lissie and Fox. It’s not often that paranormal romance stories have characters with disabilities like Fox, so I loved how that added a different angle to the story. It was great reading about how Fox’s relationship with Trahern evolved and how Trahern learned to adapt for both Fox and Lissie. Their love was truly sweet and epic at the same time, and together they literally saved the world. I will definitely be reading the other books in this series!! This was a fantastic read!

The best of fantasy/romance! By far the best in the series yet!

This book was the perfect mix of fantasy and romance, although it could have been a bit racier for my tastes, but I wouldn't take a star away for that. The cast of characters is rich & colorful. The world building is superb. I feel like I know these characters and care what happens to them. I cannot wait for the next in the series! My advice, read the series as each book gets better & better. I'm sad now that I finished it. Where's the next one & when can I start reading it? ❤️

Love The Grim Series!

I’ve devoured this series and am crossing fingers, toes and anything else I can cross that there will be more books to follow!

The world and characters are rich and the imagery vivid. I like that the author shows time passing and life moving forward as opposed to the stories happening simultaneously or within only a very limited scope of time. The blend of myth and reality is seamless, and the author’s use of the fae and Welsh language keeps it interesting.

Here’s hoping that more books in The Grim Series are forthcoming!!!

I hope there is more!

This is my favorite book of the series so far...my only wishes for the books were to have all the characters in all the books forming an awesome comradery and being in each and every book. And I really hope the series continues because I want Lord of the Wild Hunt and the Queen to get their own story please!! And of course I hope all the characters introduced so far are all included and apart of the actual story line!

I was drawn to this book in the goodreads giveaways section and excited to be chosen as a winner. I enjoy fantasy and paranormal romance, so this is right up my alley. I found the first chapter confusing, but that is probably because it is book four in a series I have not read. It was fun to read about the interactions between fae and humans and I especially enjoyed reading about a young boy named Fox. It’s not my favorite series in this genre, but it was a fun read.

Dani Harper takes my breathe away. Her creativity and imagination have built a words where Fae and Humans come together in the most mind-blowing ways. From sizzling hot men to beautiful, resilient, determined women, as well as an action packed plot that will keep you turning the pages, this book ( as well as the whole series) is not to be missed.
