I adore this cookbook! It really takes one back. I remember family gatherings with many of the tried and true classics that are in this book. Many of the recipes are ones many of us here in the States grew up with during family reunions, pot-lucks, and friendly get togethers. What I really like is how the book is broken down into seasons. The seasons are broken down from there into menu ideas for events, gatherings common during that time of year. As a southerner I can appreciate the menu for a good tailgate party, as well as the more refreshing menus that help beat the hot and humid summers. There were a enough twists on some old classics and new to me recipes that have been added to my must try list. The illustrations in the book are also very well done. Each theme had a pretty intro picture and the pictures of the recipes themselves made my mouth water. Honestly the best Gooseberry Patch Cookbook I’ve read to date.
