Surprisingly as Lemire leaves this series it improves drastically. Old Man Logan runs into the Hulk-Gang led by Maestro, in the Wastelands' reality! A lot of interesting additions to the Marvel universe. This volume is OK, but these Hulks just weren't Hulk-ish enough in my opinion. :D 7 out 12, Three Hulk Not-Smash Three Stars!

Ed Brisson was the infusion of self-healing blood this series needed. Logan finally quits moping around and gets right to work going after the Maestro and the hillbilly Hulks who've come here from alternate futures to irradiate our earth and make certain their futures happen. Mike Deodato draws a fantastic Wolverine and Hulk, making the book glisten.

This was a pretty fun read again!

It starts with the return of the wastelands Hulks like the children of Banner lead by the Maestro and when they target Logan for their revenge and he comes to know about them and Maestro and their plans for destruction he goes after them multiple times only to be swatted down again and again but then a team up with Hawkeye and Cambria (runaway Hulk) to take down the Maestro and stop his plan for nuclear annihilation once and for all, and will he be able to??

This was a fun volume and pretty much just gives you what it promises and I loved this. It takes its time for sure but when the final fight between the time travelling/future hero and villain happens its epic and worth it and makes for some great convo with Hawkeye especially after CWII. Its awkward and steeped in with weird continuity and all but makes for great story with the concept of moving on and I loved the art of MDJr and he makes this story much more darker and gritter and its awesome so yeah a must read!

Holy shit FINALLY a Old Man Logan comic I REALLY enjoyed. Ed Brisson brings all the goods in this one.

So the hulks want revenge. Remember those inbred pieces of shit from the original Old Man Logan story? Well, there's a lot more now. They are lead by one insane Hulk who's ready to kill Logan and his new world no matter what. When they come into the regular universe Logan goes head to head and tus the bloodshed begins.

Good: Love the hell out of Logan's tone and mood here. A gruff but smart fighter. One who's been through hell and learns how to fight back against the evil hulks. The fights, man oh man, bloody and exciting, this was great. Logan going through hell and back here and really entertaining.

Bad: The cameos weren't all that interesting and sometimes the art faltered a litte.

Overall great. Ed Brisson boost into Old Man Logan, and now I want a lot more. A 4 out of 5 for me.

Now that's more like it! New creative team Ed Brisson and Mike Deodato take over Old Man Logan, and take the character on more of a journey in six issues than it did in the twenty five before it.

The Maestro, the futuristic despot version of Bruce Banner, has travelled across dimensions to recruit Hulk Gang members from across the multiverse, and now they've come to our reality to settle down - but first, they need to kill all the other people that live here. Unfortunately Old Man Logan isn't going to let that happen.

This is exactly how I thought a series about Old Man Logan would be; it uses his unique history and relationships to inform a story set in the Marvel Universe, instead of just having him mope about how sad he is. This is a story that only Old Man Logan could be a part of, and it works really well. There are flashbacks to the Wastelands of his past/our future, and his relationship with Hawkeye returns to the fore again, but they don't feel like unnecessary dregs from his past like they did previously.

Deodato's been up and down in quality recently; his art is always consistent, but I do feel that his art is a lot more loose than it used to be. He does give a very realistic Logan however (since he's about 4 feet tall), and he has a lot of fun with the deformed, inbred Hulks too. Plus his Maestro is instantly recognizable.

Old Man Logan's past may have been bleak, but his future is looking up if this volume is anything to go by.

This volume isn't as impressive as Lemire's first three volumes, but it's immensly better than his previous two, so the new writer is most welcome. It's focused on a group of surviving Hulks, so there are plenty of muscles, punches and kicks going around. Logan has his work cut out for him.

A bunch of Hulks from the Wasteland have tracked Logan down. Their leader Maestro tries to keep their presence a secret, but some of them are more impulsive and get killed by Logan. Now Maestro must hasten his plan regarding a bunch of nuclear missiles they liberated from a Department H complex.

i didnt really have high expectations for this, with the title switching to a less high profile writer, but i was wrong. This was damned good. Really built on what came before but moved back towards what made the original Old Man Logan so much fun. Maybe its just a one volume thing but i liked this alot.

Wolverine v Hulk
26 June 2018 – Newcastle

Honestly, why is it that I end up buying all of these comic books that turn out to be rubbish. I know, because I insist on going and checking out every new comic book store that I come across, and end up being disappointed because none of them happen to stock those awesome French/Belgium graphic novels (unless you happen to be in France or Belgium, or at least one of the major cities, such as Brussels, and then again they happen to be in French, and despite the fact that I can sort of read French, my abilities don’t go to the extent of being able to read one of those graphic novels, though I have attempted to read Tintin in German, or Tim and Stuppi as it is known there).

Actually, the other reason was because I was in this particular comic shop and when I saw this comic I remembered that that movie Logan was nothing short of awesome, so I decided to see what Old Man Logan was like. Well, first of all, these things called rights seem to get in the way of some of these comics being renditioned faithfully, in that in the Old Man Logan series they happen to live in a post apocalyptic world in a territory ruled by the hulks. Not the Hulk, as in Bruce Banner, but rather hulks, or what I gathered, his descendants, and also other hulks that have been brought over from alternate dimensions. Oh, and these hulks happen to be bad guys as well.

Anyway, this comic is basically another story set in this world, though Logan happens to have a companion, namely Hawkeye. Yeah, they even comment about how useless his bows and arrows happen to be in this situation, but then again it is the Hulk we happen to be talking about, so I get the impression that pretty much anything and everything is pretty much useless. In fact I’ve even read somewhere that apparently the Hulk is even immune to death. You would have thought that this would be the case with Logan as well, but it turns out (sorry spoiler) that his adamantine skeleton does hinder his ability to be able to regenerate, so while he can regenerate, it is nowhere near as good as it was previously, which is why he has become ‘Old Man Logan’. Oh, and the Hulk is an old man as well, which is quite interesting.

I did quite like the idea of seeing Logan as an old man. It sort of adds something to the character that we generally aren’t used to. One of the things that I have noticed is that none of the superheroes happen to be old. They all end up being at the prime of their life. Well, not quite because Professor X and Magneto happen to be older than the rest, but then again the reboots have changed that a bit so that Professor X and Magneto are younger, but then again those movies were set in the eighties. However, having both Logan and the Hulk as older men does give us the idea that superheros can and do age. Like, Spiderman is always really young, as are the others. Sure, superpowers and all that, but sometimes it would be good to see a bunch of much older superheroes running around doing superhero type stuff.

Ouch! That musta hurt!

Wow, that one was extremely brutal. OML vs Maestro and a whole bunch of inbred hillbilly Hulks from his former timeline. What did you expect?

Brisson takes in after Lemire and for now it's for the better. No more moaning and crying over the Wastelands- though they are not forgotten, where do you think the hillbilly Hulks come from? A simple goal-to prevent Earth's total destruction, what else?, multiple OTT crazy fights, blood and guts-literally-some new kids on the block, one mean-ass villain and Hawkeye (Clint) to boot! Ain't that a treat?

It's a pure no-brainer, a rabid PG18 video game put on paper. And you know what?

It felt good.

Mike Deodato on the drawing board. What's to say? Does the guy have proportions problems? Hell, yes! Hands are sometimes twice the size of someone's head, some legs look like poles with shoeboxes as feet, Hulks sometimes look like clay figures made by a 6 yo with 2 left hands-no offense to the lefties here, I'm one myself...
But somehow it works. His dark and scratchy style coupled with the over-exaggerated proportions is just what was needed for the story.

Honestly I wouldn't want Brisson to stick with the "Smash all" formula for ever, it would quickly be boring. But as an introduction this one works just fine.

And Ed Brisson delivers. This volume was great. Turns out, Logan didn’t kill all the inbred hulks form the wasteland. Maestro gathers them up and brings them to our world with a plan to nuke all the humans so they can live in peace. I enjoyed watching old man Logan team up with Hawkeye in the wasteland and I loved watching them team up here to try to stop the Maestro. Then add Deodados art and we have a winner. Love his drawing of Old Man Logan here.

The Maestro from an an alternate universe travels to Old Man Logan's future and assembles a Hulk gang of his own and then hunts down Old Man Logan in his current time and place in order to set off a nuclear armageddon. It sounds complicated, and it sorta is, but it leads to a really bad ass story as we get to see Old Man Logan face off against a Hulk gang again, as well as the Maestro. The Deodato art is tremendous as well. I didn't really care for the ending so much, and the whole concept seemed a little off as I was never really sure of the Maestro's reasoning, but this was still a pretty good arc.

Wolverine fights a bunch of Hulks.

That's pretty much it. I have no idea how they stretched it into six issues. Hawkeye shows up for a few issues, that's fun. The art is crisp and clean, ensuring the fight scenes look great and are easy to follow. If only the story had more than an inch of depth.

It's a villain from alternative realities teamup! No, really. The Maestro from Future Imperfect goes and collects the hulk hill-billies from Old Man and then they engage in some particularly complex and incomprehensible plan on 616.

The plot is actually better than it sounds. We get a nice view of who the surviving hill-billy hulks are, though not so much on The Maestro. There's also a nice guest appearance by Hawkeye, and it's used to good effect give Clint's recent interactions with 616 Banner.

But there's also an excess of pointless fighting, and way too much inconclusiveness regarding Maestro, and I don't feel like newcomer Brisson does as good of a job with OML's character as Lemire did before him.

So, call it 3.5 stars. Definitely better than Lemire's very disappointing swan song, and good enough to keep me reading, perhaps until OML is replaced by his less interesting present-day self.

Brisson's writing does take Old Man Logan in a welcome new direction after Lemire seemed to finish what he had to say with Logan. While this sounds like many ill-advised recent Marvel moves of multiple universes, the collision of the Maestro of a different universe and Hulk Gang from Old Man Logans into the 616 surprisingly mostly works. Deodato's art is great--a mixture of dry desert noir that has maintained the new run of Old Man Logan but in the particularly dynamic figure work from Deodato that doesn't feel like Marvel house-style. Old Man Logan has become as overused as currently very dead Logan-as-Wolverine in the X-books, but this book is still enjoyable even in the new direction it is headed in.

This is the best of the many variants on the Hulk Gangs stories that I've read since I started reading the ongoing Old Man Logan series. Much like Wolverine's solo titles have always been its unapologetically violent and intense.

I liked this one better because it wasn't a time travel story of the type that has no impact on the ongoing comic or whose impact is erased when its finished. Instead it actually took place in our world and there was some purpose do it due to the presence of the Maestro--yet another evil future Bruce Banner.

My quibble is that I hope we can finally set this aside for awhile and start dealing with Logan's life here and now. Sure the book can't keep rehashing this hulk gang stuff without it getting real stale pretty quick.

I’m a big fan of everything Jeff Lemire does. But if I’m being honest, I think this volume by ed brisson was the best one yet. It was finally a linear story that wasn’t logan just having thoughts about being confused all the time. It was really nice to ready after the first 5 volumes. I was thinking about calling it quits with this series but definitely not anymore. I’m curious where the next big arc takes us.

A surprisingly good continuation of Lemire's amazing run. While most of this volume is a big battle, it was cool to see (a) Maestro as an OML villain. Really enjoyed Hawkeye's involvement, especially the short talk that closes out the volume. Deodato's art is honestly amazing. I haven't read anything this recent with his art, and he's evolved his style a lot since I last say him on Brubaker's Secret Avengers (which is probably almost 10 years old by now). I really like a lot of the stuff he's doing, and it's very faithful to Sorrentino's style from Lemire's run. Fun book, look forward to reading more of this run.

It was nice. I liked the whole gang of Hulks time/world travelling and everything that happened with Logan!

Great Deodato artwork even though sometimes I've had some problems with it, like it was done quickly or something.. I didn't care much for the whole scratchy/scribbling feel. I loved him on Thanos ongoing and there's a huge difference if you compare those too. Maybe it's the inking or colouring but yeah.

Overall, is Wolverine VS a gang of Hulks, and at the end Wolverine VS Maestro. You're a fan of Wolvie? You'll like it. Nothing memorable. Just a nice story.

middle of the road but leaning more towards a two star. Ed Brisson does a fine job writing but the story just never hooks me totally. Basically Logan is fighting a family of hulks thats it. They provide a good amount of background to make this convincing but for me I might need to exit the old man logan train for a while, im just getting board right now.

I was set to give this a 4, but then I hit that ending.

"Huh, I guess you are a badass. Welp, see ya later!" Maestro just bounced (literally) outta there? Lame!

Nice art, though.

Increasing the number of Hulks to fight perversely makes Hulks less of a threatening opponent. 99% of the new ones are cannon fodder with no personality.

Creo que este ha sido mi volumen favorito de esta serie, y es triste porque los anteriores los escribe Lemire, y simplemente, no me entregó nada remotamente cerca a lo que el Old Man Logan original causó.
