Get Fit, Get Happy isn't about just transforming the way you look . It's about transforming the way you feel .
Harry Judd is a member of the hugely successful bands McFly and McBusted who have headlined Hyde Park, notched up 19 hit singles - of which 7 went to number one - and 2 number-one albums. He is a much-loved former Strictly Come Dancing champion and has been crowned the nation's favourite ever winner of the show.
And yet in spite of this success, there have been times when Harry has been prone to anxiety and other mental health issues. He's not alone. Today, anxiety, depression and other mental health problems affect more of us than ever before and we are all looking for ways to adapt, cope and survive the pressures of daily life.
The one thing that Harry has turned to time and time again to redress the balance in his life is fitness. Now, using a combination of exercise and dance, Harry makes the mood-boosting benefits of fitness accessible for everyone. Young or old, male or female, small or large, tall, short, thin, fat or somewhere in the anyone will be inspired by Get Fit, Get Happy. Without any need for expensive kit or lots of time, Harry's approach is fun, fast, free.
Part memoir in which Harry tells the life lessons that he has learned, and part richly researched fitness plan to get you feeling more positive, Get Fit, Get Happy is a fitness revolution to help people find a little more happiness in their lives.
Speaking as the laziest person on the planet, who does precisely no exercise further than walking down the road to buy cake and chocolate, this was incredibly motivating. Filled with loads of work outs that even I could do, and dance routines I cannot wait to try out, I am suddenly filled with the need to go out and actually do something. More importantly, this book focuses on how getting up and moving can really help with mental health issues, such as anxiety and OCD. As someone with OCD and stress and anger related issues, Harry's story is inspiring, and has left me wondering if getting up and moving will help me out at all. There's only one way to find out... Video review to come.
I found this really interesting. I am a huge mcfly fan so I love the autobiography part. I did not know Harry went through so much! I also liked the different exercises he showed. I think I will try them out as I am wanting to do a bit more exercise.
I’ve had this book sitting on my shelf for a while. I brought it because I’m a McFly fan. Anyways when lockdown came because of Covid 19, I found myself pulling it off the shelf and having a look inside. I ended up building my home circuit sessions using some of the exercises from this book. It was a real help and I will continue to use it for my home work out endeavours. However this is a book of two halves. The second half is all the exercises. The first half is a bit of an autobiography from Harry himself. I’ve finally got round to reading the first half of this book and found it inspiring and motivating. I recommend it to anyone who is starting out on a home workout mission.
Not initially the type of book I’d normally read, but one that I found strangely addictive. Harry’s personal ups and downs were interesting to read and I found myself empathetic to his situation. The biography ran a little tiresome towards the end - as he tried to look into the positive effects of exercise scientifically - but on the whole it was an enjoyable read.
While at first the exercises seem diverse and doable for any reader, you soon realise that many are just adaptations of basic poses.
Harry's story is moving and incredibly inspiring. It's a story of a lot of people's struggles and a method of making it easier.
The excersizes are good for everyone with some lighter and a few more hard-core moves, but all are fun! You can go back to this book over and over, I have yet to do a few so I know I will be returning to those later down the line.
Excersize does not need to be a chore or painful, just moving and getting your heart beating for 10 minutes each day makes a difference!
Really good book actually very straight talking and the exercises at the back of the book are also easy to follow and understand.
My only criticism is that the book in tone and content is a bit boring. I do feel like a lot of what is in the book is relatively expected of someone in a boyband. However, I like Harry he doesn't seem like a complete brat.
A really nice and positive fitness book. The section at the start seems helpful when motivation is needed and the progression of exercises from beginner to advanced gives good aims. I totally agree with the sentiment of this book as well.
Even it provides good basic explanation for interested readers, the message he wrote is well received. Be happy! :-) Thanks for writing the book and it inspired me to encourage my wife for being happy and workout.
Honestly, I’m not big on exercise, and I wouldn’t have bought this book if it wasn’t Harry’s, but this was a really insightful book. Harry’s perspective was honest and personal, and really made me think about my own lifestyle and how I could possibly incorporate some significant change into it.
The exercises Harry demonstrates are also a range of difficulties so there’s something for everyone and I think this book would be so useful for people who aren’t already familiar with exercise regimes AND those who are.
As a big McFly fan i loved reading the Autobiography part and loved getting Harry's side of things that i've read in Izzy's book. As for the exercise part he definitely made it look fun so i will be trying them out
