Aiden needs a mate, or his dreams of launching his startup go up in smoke.
Aiden has been working on his meal replacement shake, LifeFuel, for years while finishing up school. He's been using the funds provided by his wealthy parents to fund his enterprise, but they've laid down the law: find a mate in three months, or we pull our support. Aiden's not against the idea of mating, but he doesn't think it's fair to ask someone to split their attention between them and his business. And although his dads are the result of an arranged match, they're one in a million. He doesn't trust anyone to determine his future happiness like that.
Chris is having the worst year of his life.
When Aiden asks him to pose as his boyfriend for one dinner party at his dads', Chris is more than happy to play along. The pretend date highlights what a joke his relationship, if you could call it that, is with his somewhat-boyfriend, Will. He ends it, recognizing it for the dead end street it is. The next morning he finds out his apartment building has been condemned and to top it all off, he's pregnant.
It seems like the perfect solution.
Chris needs a safe place to stay and Aiden needs someone to parade in front of his parents without actually mating them. But in close proximity, the pheromones fly, making it hard to resist the attraction they already feel for each other. Chris doesn't see how anyone can accept him and his child, and Aiden considers himself married to his work. As the lies they tell others and themselves build up, will they be able to uncover the truths so they can claim their happy-ever-after?
His Pretend Omega is a 50,000 word novel with no cliffhangers that can be read as a standalone. It features a very pregnant omega, doting grandfathers, and lots of bedroom time.
I liked this a little less then the previous as I felt this dragged near the end and the couple was just okay. Also annoying that for the second time, the Omega who insisted on still wanting to work gave it up to raise like five kids, like what happened to sticking to your guns? And this was the second time in the series the Omega did that, like why make it a big deal about work when in the end you're like fuck it. I'll revert to society ways? Are they all going to do that?
Loved the characters. Aiden was very dedicated to getting his business off the ground, but he always seemed to find time to stop in to his favorite café for coffee... or maybe the sight of the sexy barista, Chris.
Both are good strong characters, a little angst but that was because of some minor confusion and the situation was a little more stressful.
Nice way to start my omega verse journey. Was a little fluffy but I like fluffy so not too bad. I wish there was a little more. I don’t know something.
The writing was ok, the smexy was ehh. Maybe that’s what I was missing, and the side characters.... I’m not a fan of any. The dads felt pushy, the best friend was ehh, I did love Marcus though. Decent story though
Loving this series. Arc of this edition for an honest review. Chris needs a safe place to stay after his apartment building is condemned. Aiden needs someone to play his boyfriend to keep his dads' off his back to mate. Story was equal parts romance & hot sex.
I did enjoy this story, but I didn’t feel the connection between the two. Mostly, not from Chris. Not once even towards the end did Chris say he loved Aiden even when Aiden said it to him. Not that saying it means everything when a person could definitely show it, but it fell flat for me on that too. I just wasn’t a fan of Chris.
Aiden on the other hand, I liked a lot. He was a sweet, gentle, and protective alpha who I felt cared for Chris. I also enjoyed Aiden’s dad and father. They were a little pushy on getting Aiden to mate and settle down, but they really seemed to care about their son and his happiness in the end.
This series by the writing team of Harper B. Cole is amazing. There is so much emotion, making you feel what the characters are going through. The reader experiences one character's transformation from an unemotional workaholic solely focused on a product he began creating in college. Something he had his parents backing for, as well as that of his best friend, who was also his former college roommate, now his partner in this years long venture.
The cause of this transformation is a young Omega who is a Barista at the Cafe Om Coffee Shop. While the Barista & the inventor have an casual acquaintance. Each sets the other on fire. The two are sent on a collision course when unexpected forces change the course of their lives. A pregnancy stick showing a "+" sign and a parental directive to marry or else. A secret marriage of convenience played out in public like a real romantic relationship. But privately they continue to lead separate lives or at least they try to. Some protective Alpha instincts begin to manifest themselves. And domestic nesting nuturing tendencies emerge from the Omega.
Being responsible for someone else's care and happiness even if it's supposed to be pretend has unexpected consequences. Good and bad. It's past time for this Alpha and Omega to open their eyes & really each other. The seed had already been planted, it was germinating, and something beautiful was growing. Now if only the lies and deceptions don't end up blowing up their charade in their faces.
Watching the two main characters develop and grow into stronger, caring, and eventually loving mates & parents was very satisfying in this second book of the Cafe Om series.
Even though Aiden loved both of his fathers he was tired of them throwing omegas at him to marry they always disguised dinner parties as meet your mate parties and Aiden was tired of it, but Aiden did fancy an omega that worked at Cafe Om so he asked Chris if he could go to the party with him and pretend to be his boyfriend for the night. Chris accepted even though he said that he was seeing someone and Aiden was really disappointed but he should of known that an gorgeous omega like Chris had someone. Chris has been crushing on Aiden for the last few months and when he told the guy that he was going to Aiden’s he didn’t care so Chris needed to break it off with him. When Aiden went out to lunch with his fathers they gave him an ultimatum find a mate or get his money cut off but Aiden didn’t want that and the first person he thought of was Chris. When Aiden asked Chris to be his fake mate he explained about what his fathers wanted him to do and Chris was happy to be asked by Aiden but Chris had a few problems of his own and once Aiden helped him work them out Chris happily agreed to Aiden’s fake mate, but Chris has to try to keep his feelings out of it which wasn’t going to be easy. I loved this m/m story it’s a fantastic read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.
As someone who usually shies away from the fake relationship trope, I was really surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. Aiden started out as just a so-so character to me but really won me over as he fell in love with Chris and his unborn child. Chris really captured my attention from the beginning. I really felt for his predicament; he did everything right and was a hard working young man but he finds himself in an awful predicament. He was a victim of many circumstances and this becomes a bit of a Cinderella story for him. The book is not without drama but very little of it is happening between the two of them; it's more other characters who are disrupting their lives. This just gives them reasons to grow closer. The two grandads are hilarious in their over the top excitement and add another fluffy, sweet element to the book. The book solves the problem of the lack of sex before the guys finally get together with stories of their fantasies and their constant flirty sexual tension. Once they did finally make it into bed, Chris's pregnancy fueled sex drive makes for plenty of sexy times. The epilogue was cute and I loved the peak at the family down the road. I thought this was a good, lightweight read for when a happy omegaverse book is just the thing.
Aiden has devoted his life since college to perfecting milkshakes so he does not have to eat. He's been crushing on Chris, a barista at Cafe Om, and Chris has been crushing back. Aiden's Father and Dad have been bankrolling his endeavor, but want to see him settled down with a suitable omega. Aiden invites Chris to come to one of the parties his folks throw to try to induce him to consider one of the available omegas. To avoid the stress, Aiden invites Chris to masquerade as his boyfriend, and keep the parents of the omegas off him.
Then Aidens parents demand that he be mated or lose funding. Chris breaks up with his louse of a boyfriend, learns that he is pregnant and and finds he's being evicted and eviction notice.
Aiden asks Chris to be his "mate" since each can cover the other's needs the next few months.
But as with all fake boyfriend / mate schemes things start falling apart in short order. Especially as the "fake" cover becomes thin.
This is a fun, low-angst feel-good omegaverse story. Chris, a shift manager at Om Cafe, has had his eyes on Aiden, a regular customer, for weeks. Chris is in a dead-end relationship with a boyfriend and ready to break it off. Aiden is an entrepreneur who is about to launch a meal replacement shake, but he needs his parents' financial support for a little while longer. He visits Cafe Om regularly just to see his crush, Chris.
When Aiden's parents make it a condition that Aiden mates as part of their support, he talks to Chris about creating a fake mating. Chris has just found out he's pregnant by his ex-boyfriend and he is to be evicted from his condemned apartment. The two agree to a pretend arrangement, but how long can they keep up appearances before the feelings become real? This story is very sweet and passionate with few problems that can't be overcome. The parents manipulations are easier forgiven than would probably happen in real life. It is an easy, light read that really works.
I think this a brilliant book that shows that you can make a go of it. Chris sees Aiden at his job as a barista at Cafe Om, they both secretly like each other even though they do nothing about it. One time when Aiden goes and gets a coffee Chris talks to him and Aiden asks if he will be his pretend boyfriend for night. After an ultimatum from Aiden dads that he needs to mate and finding out that Chris is having a rough time after finding out he is pregnant with his ex alphas non exclusive boyfriend and that he needs to a find a new place to live. Aiden decides to ask Chris if he will be his pretend mate for a few months until his new company launches and Chris has his baby and then they can break up. But this does not happen that way after a meddling friend they realise their feelings for each other and decide to make a feel go of it which is lovely. I found this one to be just as intriguing as the first. While the story lets you know that it’s in the same world and community as the first book, this time it’s got more alphas than omegas stealing the stage. Well except for Marcus but he’s feisty and loyal so we are going to keep him. I love how the author has their alphas and omegas outside the norm. Like the real world, their characters don’t adhere to the stereotypes except for biologically. I am going to enjoy getting lost in this world with every book. www.reviewsforthosewholoveagoodbook.w...
A great story. Chris, an omega, finding out he’s pregnant, working as a barista and being kicked out of his apartment feels like his life is falling apart. Aiden, an alpha, whom Chris has been crushing on needs a favor. Both men are attracted to the other and both need a little help. This story is so sweet, some drama, yes, but a little drama fuels the story nicely. Great characters, both main and supporting. Very good story, I especially enjoyed the ending. I always enjoy seeing our heroes in their lives as the years fly by. Very, very enjoyable!

His Pretend Omega by Harper B Cole is the second book in The Cafe Om Love series. It's a sweet and cute fake mate turns real romance. Aiden is the work obsessed Alpha who needs to appease his parents by mating and Chris is an omega in need that agrees to pretend to be his. I love these characters. They are fun and sweet to read. The story was well written and entertaining. I loved ever second. The Cafe Om series is gearing up to be great.
I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.
I loved watching Aiden go from workaholic to devoted husband and dad. The fact that he wanted to be the daddy to Chris' baby and saw himself as such was great. He turns out to an amazing father. Aiden's dads were terrific in their exuberance about being grandparents. Chris has been dealt a crap hand but he's determined to give his baby the best life he can. I liked his feisty attitude. These two start out in a fake relationship but the attraction has already been there for months. The ending is wonderful, especially Aiden's anniversary gift for Chris.
I enjoyed reading this MM fake engagement romance. I found the characters quite well-developed & sweet with an intriguing plot. There is: a alpha male being blackmailed by his parents to find a mate (Aiden), his best friend & partner in a business venture (Ethan) a pregnant omega at his wits end is asked by Aiden to pose as his boyfriend (Chris), a insecure alpha (Will), drama, some twists, family issues, attractions, a get-together, verbal banter, parental blackmail, a unexpected surprise, plans, compromises, confrontations, despair, realization, desperation, apologies, happiness, love, steamy scenes & a wonderful well-earned satisfying epilogue.
In this story the alpha is very much alpha and the omega is pretty much the typical omega as far has his protective instincts are concerned.
It wasn’t a story out of the ordinary Non-shifter Mpreg plot and it even had an initial inconsistency in the time line that bothered me (at first Chris has no clue he is pregnant but on the same day he discovers the pregnancy (not even on his own but because an alpha smelled it) he speaks of morning sickness, of being always tired and reveals that he was 10 weeks along in the pregnancy), but it was enjoyable and well written.
I really enjoyed this book. Although there were some typos and name changes, I was still very entertained. Aiden, the alpha, is in need of a mate. Chris, the pregnant omega, is in need of a home. Aiden suggests a solution to both there problems, which turns out to be the best thing for both of them.
I loved Aiden and Chris, theirs is a great fake romance story. I found it be really low angst, it was just a matter of them accepting the spark that was there all along. It's a great addition to the Cafe Om Love series and I'm already looking forward to reading book three.
This was another sweet, low angst, mpreg read that I was definitely in the mood for. I really like Aiden and Chris and their connection from the beginning. Through they started out as an arrangement of convenience, it was obvious they both wished it were real. And it all worked out in the end. So happy these two made it work!
The storyline was great. The MC we're believable. I just had a problem with grammar, punctuation, and the mixed up of the characters name. At one point Aiden was used instead of Ethan. Otherwise the story was great and I love Chris and his little sassy self.
Unable to read book continuously do to bad printing, repeating lines and missing text. Would love to read if it was easier to follow. Needs better proof readers or typist.
This a good series and I enjoyed the book, but an editor/ proof reader is definitely needed. Misspelled words, random extra words, missing words or random shift in a characters name makes the read confusing and slows the story flow
This is a great book! Loving this series, though you don't seem to get updates on the pervious couples. Not a big deal but I always like when they make cameos.
This couple is very sweet, they get a extra push to be together by circumstance which is probably the only way this alpha would have looked up from his work!
