Suck my soul out? I’ll get over it. Try to kill me? Whatever. Send me a dead bunny? Watch your back.
Life’s not perfect, but I didn’t realize it could be this good. Family, job, friends, that’s all covered. Caring boyfriend, Ethan, was icing on the cake. As each strand of happiness is ripped away, I’m forced to see how bad things can get.
When we’re called into a civilian crime scene, it makes it impossible to hide my secret from Ethan. After a madman and a killer crash our date, Ethan learns more than he can handle, so he’s out the door. For me, there’s no time to stop. The arrival of deranged gifts tell me that I’ve been marked for death, and I’d like to return the favor.
The trouble is, can you kill someone if they aren’t alive?
A great read but is the human detective the right man for her? When a body, torn to bits, is found at a construction site her detective calls her and the team in. What could have torn the body apart like that and why are all the bones missing, further deaths, attacks occur that lead the team to investigate further. Is the perpetrator a wizard? The more they investigate the more perplexed they get. Especially as he now wants to kill her and thinks that she is the same as him - man made! Zombie rabbits, soul stealing and shootings follow. Can the team stop him? What does he really want? Who is his creator? Great plot but Ethan isn't my idea of her perfect man.
It's worth the time to get at least this far in the AIR series. By the way this book ends, I expect that there will be additional books. The world building is solid and interesting, with enough of a twist to keep it from being just another paranormal enforcement series. The characters are interesting, although, since the whole thing is told from Cassie's perspective, we don't get to learn as much about the other characters as I would like. I'm a bit on the fence about Cassie. Most of the time I like her but sometimes she really annoys me, especially when she gets her nose all bent out of shape when she thinks she's being excluded. The only girl in the boys' club with a chip on her shoulder theme can get a bit old in my opinion. Hopefully, Cassie will mature a bit in the next book and realize that not everything is a slight against her. I also stand by my opinion after the last book that Cassie should be with Vincent rather than Ethan. I was pretty impressed with how Ethan handled his introduction to Cassie's world, but I do believe that there's a straw out there somewhere with his name on it. It also seems fairly apparent that Vincent has some issues he needs to deal with too before he would be ready. Let's hope that Gran remains alive and well to steer the ship and I'm looking forward to the next book.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I read all the books in the series that are published so far, in less than a week. I couldn't put them down! The idea of there being portals to different worlds that contain the beings our myths are based on is such a great concept! Then top it off with a protection agency that monitors those beings and deals with the mysteries and incidents that occur as a result.
The only complaints I have would be that I would have liked the descriptions of her characters to be more descriptive and there are a few grammar errors.
**I was going to use the word "creatures" instead of "beings", but my mind kept going back to the heroin of the series continually correcting people who would address the beings from other worlds as creatures, things or anything that made them seem as though they were not intellectual beings, and I just couldn't bring myself to do it.**
I liked this well enough. I haven’t liked any of the series as much as I liked the first book though.
I think my biggest problem is that so much of what Cass does is very abstract and kind of vague. I find myself wishing, as I often do, for a little bit more relationship to balance out the story. This usually happens when I don’t find the plot interesting enough to hold my attention.
I didn’t have that problem with the first book.
I finished this one, mostly just to find out what happened but I wasn’t enjoying it as much as I had hoped. That is until the end and how things were left between Cass and Rider. Now I’m going to read the next book in hope of an explanation for and a resolution to that particular situation. I only hope I find the rest of the story equally as interesting.
Cassie’s new boyfriend Ethan seems to be sticking around. He calls her and asks her to come and look at a crime scene because he’s sure that this weird murder is right up their street. During the investigation of the scene Cassie has to access the path and reveals what she does to Ethan, who handles it quite well. Vincent is back working in the same office and is teamed up with Rider. Vincent and Cassie’s connection seems to be there, but Vincent doesn’t want to be involved with Cassie because it makes her a target.
Then something comes into her house and starts moving furniture around and someone sends her a parcel with a dead bunny. There are so many things going on it makes her head spin.
Once again the plot moves quickly and intrigues the reader so much that each page turns faster and faster. the characters are very interesting and I really enjoy seeing them interact with each other, not just with Cassie.
Once again, everything is a team effort, and without her team Cassie would be in serious trouble. I like that Cassie is vulnerable and gets overwhelmed and scared, but still holds it together on the job, only collapsing when she’s safe again. She’s in a unique position, but she’s doing her best to blindly handle it, with the help from her friends.
EACH BOOK IS A CASE THAT CASSIE AND HER PARTNERS ARE WORKING ON. IN THIS CASE, THERE ARE SEVERAL MURDERS THAT ARE DIFFICULT TO EXPLAIN IN THE NORMAL, HUMAN WORLD. CASSIE AND ETHAN, A POLICE LT THAT SHE HAS BEEN DATING, ARE STRUGGLING TO WORK THROUGH THE ASPECTS OF HER JOB AND THE WORLD THAT SHE IS INVOLVED IN. BUT TO GIVE HIM CREDIT, HE IS TRYING VERY HARD TO UNDERSTAND A WORLD WITH WEREWOLVES AND FAERIES AND ELVES.
THIS PARTICULAR CASE INVOLVED A GOLEM. PRETTY INTENSE. AND A NECROMANCER. THINGS WILL PROBABLY LEAD TO THE NECROMANCER IN A FUTURE CASE.
REALLY LOVE THIS SERIES, BUT YOU MAY HAVE TROUBLE FOLLOWING IF YOU DON'T START AT THE BEGINNING,
Stolen Sight, book 3 of the AIR series, is a book I picked up during my Kindle Unlimited trial. The AIR series may be the best-kept secret for paranormal/urban fantasy fans, but more people need to give this author a try, as the world-building is unique and doesn't follow the usual genre tropes. There was some good story progression in this installment, and I can't recommend the books highly enough. Good writing, great characters, well-paced (for the most part, there have been a few places that slowed down, but I was still invested).
What a great book! Such an imagination! Stolen Sight is a must read. As our hero, Cassie, finds her team thrown into another anomaly, she begins working only to find there is no Path for their latest suspect. But everything has a Path! The concept is interesting and the characters are cool, and likable. In the end, you even feel for the villain. The ending was good, but not what I was hoping for...which leads me to believe there may be more books to come...here's hoping!
This certainly had some twists thrown in. Not that it's funny, but you can't help but wonder how badly hurt Cassie will get. It's a little frustrating that usually she's the only one getting beat up, all things considered. Anyway, still a good read, lots of action, fast paced, and relationships that remain complicated or get that way.
Cassie and her team of others are on another adventure. Lots of murder, fighting, and an overall story of them saving humans and Others from themselves
This book, nor series has detailed intimacy scenes. And that’s ok. This series is good, the storylines make sense, and so far all of the books have been really good
Maybe a 3.5 star book. This book just felt like a jumbled mess between the characters and didn't ever really level out. Not much more I can say. Seems Vincent and Cassie are bound together and then you have Ethan. I presume it's a nice love triangle. Irritates me, but others may enjoy it.
So much happens throughout this story, I love it. The story sucks you in and gives you pause. Exciting and heartbreaking at times but I want to jump into the book and become a part of the story.
Wow. A lot happens in this book. It was a bit confusing in some parts, so you have to really pay attention to the characters and who is doing what in the story. Overall, I liked it.
Cassie has more troubles than she knows how to handle. Her boyfriend Ethan wants to help, especially with the undead bunny, but he's out of his element. Once more Cassie controls the Path and fights with her power and multifaceted soul.
The imagination and action with the touch of romance kept me reading long after my bedtime.
Cassie and the gang go through a lot in this one. Frank is awesome! 'adding two plus two and getting frog' is my new favorite saying! I'm ready for the next case!
