Thunder and Lighting

Rate this book
Jarrett Evans and Thayne Wolfe have been partnered in the ATF for nearly two years and their love and commitment to each other has grown over time. Now faced with one final challenge, the boys are headed to Arizona to help Thayne’s mom, stumbling headfirst into a brand new case. When a man is shot on Dot’s sister’s ranch, their informal investigation leads to the Native American reservation bordering the property.

Juggling tricky tribal politics isn’t something Jarrett and Thayne are accustomed to but, as with most things in their lives, nothing is ever uncomplicated. When a surprise sighting shakes Thayne to his very foundation, they call out for help and their colleagues ride to the rescue along with a little help from the FBI. The mystery on the reservation only deepens when they start putting two and two together. Questionable cigarettes at the Ahtunowhiho Trading Post may be the least of their worries.

From the mean streets of Los Angeles to the vast deserts of Arizona, Thayne and Jarrett once again brave the minefields of bad guys, bigshots, and a vicious betrayal that kicks them in the ass. But one thing is certain. Thru thunder and lightning, Jarrett and Thayne are never alone. They’ll fight for each other down to the last man standing, even if it costs them their very lives.

Oh wow! I loved the heck out of this book! I think this one is the best! I mean, yes, Jarrett and Thayne are closer than ever and the smex is off the charts hot and steamy but that's not why. One of the best reasons is that we finally get the answers to the major questions, THANK YOU Ms Logan! I was getting angsty about it! But you just blew me away!

So, this time my favorite duo are headed to Arizona to help Thayne's mother Dot with some "minor" problems on her sister's ranch. Ha, nothing is ever minor with these two. Jarrett's Dad Mark joins the crew. There is romance in the air because Mark is turning on that famous Evans charm, and Dot can't resist!

As always from shootings to smuggling both Jarrett and Thayne stumble on their old nemesis - Mills Lang. He is like a roach surviving the apocalypse! Somebody provide a boot to squash him! Tribal politics, legal red tape and plain old-fashion a$$holery rule the day, and my boys have to call in the cavalry. Oh, this is going to be good! Snow, Sarah, Darcy, Mac and Jose join them in their quest to rid world of evil delusional criminal. But it's not that simple. The betrayal runs long and deep and blindsides them all. The events spin out of control. It is so intense! Thayne and Jarrett are fighting for their right to live free from fear. But not only that! The secret as to who has been trying to kill Jarrett is finally unmasked!!! You have to read it for yourselves! It's so worth it!

In the end many people prove to be real friends, real friends prove to be worthless people and in the middle of all this mess are two men left standing - their love and strength carrying them through the darkest day of their life. Bravo, Ms Logan! Bravo!

P.S. Dear Shelly, you should know that you always reap what you sow! Enjoy your orange jumpsuit!! It's going to be your new black!

I'm still loving this series and Jarrett and Thayne! Again so many twists and turns - action, betrayal, danger and of course the love between them. This one wrapped up quite a few things and wow was it exciting. I'm so glad to find that this series isn't quite over and I get more Jarrett and Thayne.

Entertaining story of two hot ATF agents solving cases and smooching in their down time. 10 book series, must be read in order. Great characters, nice growth and development over the course of the series, lovely side characters, friends and family. I read the first 5 books a while ago and I wished I had kept notes to give this series a proper review. I know I loved the characters and the couple and that the cases were interesting and exciting. The hair salon was awesome and totally memorable, even years later. Some undercover assignments, everyone a bit broken due to the nature of their work, taking chances and being reckless on the job to get results.

These books need to be read close together, at least read through book 6 before taking any large breaks. The long-term plot has a lot of twists, turns, betrayals and characters. Due to the betrayal storyline, they understandably don’t want the culprit too easy to identify, so there are a TON of characters. I took a large break between books 5 and 6 and unknowingly deprived myself the joy of the big reveal, since I had forgotten who most of the side characters were. As everything was unraveled and explained in book 6, I barely had any idea what they were talking about. My fault completely. Learn from my mistake, don’t take any long breaks until after book 6!!!!! I read the first 5 books over three months, then read book 6 nearly 2 years later. Don’t do that.

Reviewed as a series, each book is a 4-5 on its own, with the entire series coming in as a solid 5. Great writing, excellent banter and conversations, interesting investigations, great action scenes with tough guys and beautiful hurt/comfort moments when cases fall apart.

Contemporary, vers, m/m, finished series, must read in order, ATF, federal agents, HFN during series, HEA in book 7.

What a fantastic and thrilling end to a great arc. I didn't realise this was the book that all the loose ends would be tied up, so that was a really nice surprise. Although there was one loose end in that we never found out about the fallout for the reservation and its people.

Absolutely loved this series and I'm glad that the author is considering writing more with the same characters. I think the characters are so well fleshed out, that you can see them doing more. I think it would be awesome to have a baddie from Mac Mac Mac's history - I think that could be really interesting and mysterious.

From the very first pages of Death and Destruction to the very last page of Thunder and Lightning I have been so damn deeply in love with Thayne and Jarrett and their adventures. The pair blazed off the pages in the first book and didn't slow down threw Thunder and Lightning, they only got brighter! If you have never read this series then you are so totally lacking in your education! Jarrett and Thayne and their group of ATF, FBI and CIA agents worked extra hard to bring down one of the most notorious super bad guys and it took 6 books to do it with all the little clues running threw all the other story lines as they came out in this series. I really hated the idea that this series had to end but boy way I ever glad to see Mills Lang get his come-uppins'. When I read the Author's Note I almost wanted to do a gig when I seen that Patricia is planning on releasing a Christmas book with Thayne and Jarrett and also will start a whole new series with the boys I can't wait to see how in the world she will top Mills Lang in the super bad guy area but I for one am looking forward to it!!!! I am also in favor of Patricia dropping all the other books that she writes and concentrate only on Thayne and Jarrett for a few dozen more books!!!!!

Oh my goodness, what an ending to this wonderful series. What can I write about without giving anything away. I'll just say that all questions are answers, in this star studded reunion of characters (good and bad) from the Death and Destruction series. This book are filled with many emotional moments. At one point the tension was overwhelming and my stomach ached. When the sh*t hit the fan, I screamed "got you motherf*cker". I teared up a lot during the last quarter of this book.
I love Jarrett and Thayne, along with all the secondary characters. I really don't want this series to end. Even though this is the end of this charter, I hope a new one begins.

I always know that when a new Patricia Logan book comes out that it's going to be a good one and this book is no exception. There's some scorching hot sex between Thayne and Jarrett, but even more than that, there is the scorching hot drama and action throughout the whole book. But it's more than sex and it's even about more than the love between these two men. It's about family and it's also about trust.

Patty Logan has captured both my attention and my heart with these two men. This one of my favorite series and this book was a nail biter!

Jarrett and Thayne are in for a really rough ride. They accompany Thayne’s mom, Dot, back to sister’s ranch in Arizona, with Mark, Jarrett’s dad in tow. Things are spooking Dot and the men are going to get to the bottom of the mystery. When their plane lands, after a very amusing scene in LAX, they are met with the news that one of the ranch hands was shot. As par for the course with these two agents, they are thrust in the middle of what looks like a brand new case unfolding…or is it???

I promise I won’t give anything away but you need to know that this is a much more gruesome and grittier book than the rest. Mills Lang seems to be lurking around our men again and that man is nothing but pure evil. I had to put the book down at times because I literally couldn’t take anymore. I actually had one of my night terror attacks that we believe was triggered from one of the scenes in this book. Not to say it wasn’t needed but it was more than I was prepared for.

What I truly loved about this book was several things. I loved how deeply in love and committed these men are and how difficult it was to watch them have to stay “closeted”. They are literally each other’s life and breath! I also really enjoyed getting to know Dot and Mark more. They are great together and I hope there is more in the future for them. What was most special was how committed the men’s friends and work colleagues were to them. I also want way more of Lincoln and Sarah and their budding relationship.

I went into this book thinking it was the final one in the series. I have a really hard time when a series ends. Especially when I believe there really is more to tell. One of the best part of the book was reading the author’s note! I just wasn’t ready for these men to suddenly exit my life and apparently neither was she. She states “I had intended on ending Thayne and Jarrett’s story here but I have fallen in love with this series over the last two years and I don’t think it’s yet finished.” I couldn’t agree more! I am pleased that she wrapped up a storyline that needed it but I agree that there is too much more left to be covered.

I can’t recommend this book and the entire Death and Destruction series enough. I will again state that this book has some pretty gruesome and difficult scenes to read and may not be for everyone but it is such a fabulous series and Patricia Logan is a accomplished and gifted story teller.

The Conclusion … Or Is it?

The Death and Destruction series has been one very wild and wacky ride, and we reach the conclusion with book six, Thunder and Lightning…or do we? I’m hearing rumors, and I look forward to finding out if they’re true!

Thunder and Lightning pulls Jarrett and Thayne into the desert of Arizona at the request of Thayne’s mother, Dot. She is watching over her sister’s farm/ranch while her sister is in the hospital, but there are strange tidings happening on the native reservation that backs up to the sister’s property, and Dot wants the boys to take a look. What they find is not even remotely what they were expecting, and the edge-of-your-seat starts literally upon their arrival.

Written in the same dynamic style as the previous books in the series, T&L nicely wraps up the story arc started way back in the first book, Death and Destruction, in style. If you’ve not read the entire series, you technically could read this as a standalone, but you would miss a great deal of previous storyline that comes into play here. I personally would not classify this as a standalone for that particular reason. A lack of historical knowledge of Mills Lang and Thayne and Jarrett’s interaction with him will detract considerably from this story.

The vast majority of characters we’ve met through the ATF as well as Jarrett’s dad, Mark, appear in this story in one manner or another, creating a rich and diversified reading experience. While the love is still super strong between T and J, the sexy times really take a back seat due to the nature of the story. This is not a drawback for me, but it could influence some folks. I will say, though, that what is there is smoking hot!

I took minor issue with some of the location-based aspects, but that is only because I live in Arizona. If you do not, you probably will not notice or care.

By the end, I had laughed, cried, growled, cringed, and had to take a few moments to catch my breath. Thunder and Lightning is four stars of excellent reading, and a phenomenal conclusion to the existing story arc. I can only hope that there will be more, as rumors suggest. There will never be enough Thayne and Jarrett for me!

I read one of previous books in this series and while the impression was somewhat lackluster I was interested enough to ask for this title when it came out.
The action starts immediately. Jarret and Thayne are visiting Thayne's mother because ranch she lives on has become target of bad guys. Jarret and Thayne are suspicious and quickly decide to investigate further.
I had several minor hiccups while reading but overall the writing is good and descriptions are especially vivid. The sex was hot as Arizona.
There is whole slew of supporting characters which makes for lively read. I enjoyed reading about people our agents work with. They're such fun!
Thane and Jarret are settled in their relationship and both acknowledge their feelings. They are sure of himself and each other. This is a good thing, because Thayne's old adversary Mills Lang is back. Once again they're preparing to take him down. It made me wonder what happened between the book I read Flash and Bang and this one.
The plot was solid with slow buildup heading toward explosive resolution. Several plot threads came together in action-packed ending with several unexpected twists. I was clinging to the edge of my seat, wracked with nerves. I just couldn't believe what was happening!
The author did her research for this book and I had to google several facts to get what she is talking about. Jarret and Thayne's relationship is here well and truly established. It gave me warm and fuzzy feelings. The plot is carefully laid out and like I said, the ending left an impression.

I received copy of this book in exchange for review.

One of my favourite series does it again! I love the relationship of Jarrett & Thayne. It was wonderful to see that after five books, their relationship has grown strong and the love oozes out of the pages. At first I thought there may be just a little too much "I love you" but then on second thought I realised how much the boys had been through and they appreciated each other and were willing to show their feelings for each other. So good. And the sex, seriously hot. Did I say hot? Yeah, those boys sizzle. The back stories are always full of intrigue and action so it gives you that full-blown experience. I especially like the secondary characters. Sarah is amazing and I love that Patricia Logan has created a strong female that can go head-to-head with the boys and they let her. Spoilers!! I need to also mention that even though these sex men are strong alpha types, they still hurt and are not invincible. It just about killed me to through the ending of the book. What else could I say? Bring on book 7.

A little slow to start but I think Patricia Logan got back on track in this series after the previous installment. I really liked the story line (even though pretty unbelievable) as we wrap up Mills Lang and the mole's involvement. It comes full circle and I'm happy with the outcome. The secondary characters and couples were great and since it looks like we have more books coming for Thayne and Jarrett I'm looking forward to reading more about absolutely everyone.

Great wrap up book

All questions finally answered! It was quite a while coming, and definitely stretched out too long but the finale was well done. I really love Thayne and Jarrett so was glad to read the author's note that they will continue. We don't need another overarching bad guy or ridiculous conspiracy subplot. Just give us these characters and the great secondary characters in stand alone cases. That would be great.

Can't wait for Christmas...

I think the cherry on top was reading the last little note that said Thayne and Jarrett are not done yet! What an amazing series... I haven't been able to stop reading. How someone can come up with such an evil character as Mills Lang, I do not know. Just, WOW! Everything about these books was amazing. I will say that, as far as most of the twists, I saw them coming, but my hubby tells me I am just good at figuring these things out.

Like always also this book, in my opinion, was way longer than needed, but at least the story was more interesting. Sure I had guessed the inside-man, or men, probably 2 books ago, but still seeing Lang finally pay for his crimes, felt good(And now finally the author will need to find something else to fill the plot...bcs BORING!). And the last scene with Jarrett proposing was cute also if a bit awkward and maybe not so romantic.

I have mixed feelings about this book - and the series in general, as it continues on.
I love the overall story arc, generally like the characters, the humor, the more serious parts, the suspense, etc. This book allowed us to get to know Thayne's mom & Jarrett's dad a bit more too, which was enjoyable. The humor was also very necessary with this book, because there were some SERIOUSLY dark moments, (if there's not a trigger warning for torture, here it is - you've been warned. Though if you've gotten this far, you've already been through some pretty dark stuff). I am in rapt suspense throughout every book and this one was no different.
BUT there are a few things that are irksome in this series:
1) The repetition of words, phrases & general sentiments - I'm getting twitchy with the word "stunning," which Logan sometimes uses multiple times within a paragraph or two throughout this series. There's also "beautiful," "this man," (in place of "him"), etc., etc. I also don't need to be told again what color each of their eyes are, "Bahama blue" and "ice blue," or how lucky they each feel to be together, or how in love & lust, yada yada. There's just way too much internal monologuing with the same points.
2) There's some real misogyny throughout the series - people acting certain ways being referred to acting "like a girl," or "being a pussy," or "pussying out," and how the female agent in their crew is petite & pretty, but she's also a great shot & fighter. And I'm about done with hearing about how Jarrett feels different about bottoming now than he did before Thayne, b/c he thought it made him less than a man to do it before, (which makes me wonder how he felt about his partners who bottomed for him).
3) While the sex scenes are hot, I feel like there are reaching too many. I mean, maybe it's because I've been binging the series through box sets & so it's like one long book for me, but I'm growing numb to them & finding them a lot less scintillating. Again, that could be because I'm binging it.
But despite my gripes, I'm still hooked in & want to read the other semi-related series before & after. I'm just a glutton for punishment, I guess.
So far as the audio narration - this one was mostly okay - not quite as good as the previous books. Dean kinda did the voice I'm not fond of that he often uses for older women for Thayne's mom, but she didn't sound too oddly British, so there's that. He was really weird with Mac though, a side character introduced the previous book. Dean kept changing his mind on how to voice him this book - sometimes within an extremely short period of time - giving him an inexplicable brogue & then backing off of it to a regular standard American accent with a gruff voice, which made more sense, since although he's of Scottish descent, there's no indication that he hasn't spent his life in the US. Beyond that, the narration was good. I don't know how on point his accent is for Jarrett - I think it's a little thicker than it needs to be sometimes, based on the way it's said that Jarrett speaks with a thick accent only when he's in certain circumstances, but he's got me thinking & almost speaking with a Southern accent myself from listening to it.
As I said, I'm still hooked & have already gotten about an hour or two into the next book, but it is with a certain amount of eyerolls.

The review masterfully encapsulates the essence of the narrative, assuring readers of an exhilarating ride filled with love, danger, and unwavering commitment.

The depth of Jarrett and Thayne's relationship, cultivated over nearly two years, serves as the emotional core of the story. The review adeptly conveys their enduring love and commitment, setting the stage for a final challenge that takes them to Arizona. The mention of Thayne's mom and a new case on Dot's sister's ranch immediately piques interest, promising a fresh and intricately woven mystery.

The narrative unfolds against the backdrop of the Native American reservation, introducing tribal politics as a compelling new element. The review effectively conveys the unfamiliar territory Jarrett and Thayne navigate, adding layers of complexity to their investigation. As always, nothing in their lives is uncomplicated, and the promise of juggling tricky tribal politics adds an intriguing dimension to the plot.

A surprise sighting shakes Thayne to his core, and the review skillfully builds suspense around this revelation. The call for help and the subsequent arrival of colleagues and FBI assistance amplify the stakes, hinting at a mystery that deepens as the pieces come together. The mention of questionable cigarettes at the Ahtunowhiho Trading Post adds an air of intrigue, ensuring that readers will be kept on the edge of their seats.

The geographical shift from the mean streets of Los Angeles to the vast deserts of Arizona heightens the narrative's visual richness. The review eloquently captures the expansive and diverse settings, emphasizing the minefields of bad guys, big shots, and a vicious betrayal that Jarrett and Thayne must navigate. The assurance that they'll fight for each other, even at the cost of their lives, underscores the unwavering bond between these characters.

In conclusion, "Thunder and Lightning" promises a thrilling and emotionally resonant conclusion to the ATF series. Thunder and Lightning is Book 6 in Patricia Logan's Death and Destruction series. This series follows the same couple and partners in the ATF through the whole series. Each book builds up to the next book, so I think the only way you'll get the full enjoyment from this series is reading all of them in the appropriate order. Sadly, I believe this is the last book in the series, but I hope we'll see more of Jarrett and Thayne in the future!

In book 6, Thayne and Jarrett are finally going on vacation, but, as expected, it definitely is not a vacation. Thayne's mom, Dot, has asked them for help at her sister's ranch. Dot has been staying on the ranch, trying to take care of selling it and taking care of all the property. She's had some issues with a road running between the ranch and tribal land and isn't getting help locally. But, it turns out that the situation is more dire than any of them could have predicted, and that the man Thayne and Jarrett have been trying to put away is hiding nearby. I was so happy to see the Mills Lang storyline come to an end. Running in the background of this story is the storyline of the traitor within their midst. I had long suspected who the traitor was, and it turned out I was right.

This was a fast paced, action packed story, and sadly involved the death of a team member. I was highly impressed with the information and effort the author put into this story! I was not impressed with the torture the author put Thayne and Jarrett through. ;) I love that the relationship between Thayne and Jarrett gets stronger through this series. They live and work in a crazy environment, but they don't allow that to affect their relationship. They stand strong together as partners, both personally and at work. I loved how the having Jarrett's dad and Thayne's mom in this story, and especially loved how into each other they were!

This whole series is terrific and I hate to see it come to an end! The Death and Destruction series had made me laugh, cry, gasp, and completely sucked me into the adventures of Thayne and Jarrett. I highly recommend this whole series!

Rating: 5 stars!!

Death and Destruction is one of my favorite suspense series. All of these books are fantastic. This is book six and I highly suggest you read them in order. Patricia Logan takes you on a roller coaster ride(the kind that goes really fast around lots of curves, not the up and down kind) that is exciting, fast-paced, at times chilling and extremely sexy.
There is so much action as we continue this saga with Thayne and Jarrett going to Thayne's aunt's ranch to help his mom clear it out to sell it. What is supposed to be a nice vacation turns out to be one of their biggest cases yet when Thayne recognizes one of Mills Lang's goons on the reservation boarding his family property.

The last 80 percent was so gripping I was up till 330 this morning finishing the book. No way I could put it down till I found out what happened. (my nails are to the quick from all the suspense)

I am happy to see this isn't going to be the last book in the series. (Thank you, Patricia).
If you are looking for a good suspense, like ATF agents, twists and turns, lots of drama and action and plenty of hot man-sex this is for you!
