A new rib-tickling adventure for Song Lee begins when she brings her pet hamster Yi to school and Yi escapes, leading to a crazed hunt for the lost pet by all the kids in Room 2B.
Suzy Kline, nee Weaver, was an elementary school teacher for 25 years and most of her books are based on the experiences she had while teaching. Suzy and Rufus got married and had two daughters named Jennifer and Emily. Now, more than 24 years after writing her first book, Suzy has traveled all over the United States helping children learn how to enjoy reading and writing.
This book is takes place in school and it is about how the students and teachers get caught in a massive hamster hunt thought out the school. The author wrote the book for audiences who like to solve mysteries. The characters in this book show how working together can help solve the problems that they encounter. I would recommend this book to other students who enjoy an easy reading story that they will not want to put down. I enjoyed reading this book because the characters are funny and I can relate to the school setting.
I do like this series, and have decided to read a bunch of 'em, since my library has them and they are short. I'm reserving the fourth star for the most special ones, but even the three star ones are worthwhile. I just wish that we knew more than six kids.
Anyone who wants to be a primary teacher should read these. First, to make sure they know what they'll be getting into (even a good district with good kids) and second, to learn some tips and tricks (stop math and draw 'advertising' posters to let the school know about the missing hamster).
I got this book from a Little Free Library shelf in my apartment lobby. It was a sweet and delightful read. I enjoyed the little mystery of the hamster going missing and the students working together to find it. Each student has different quirks and personalities, and even within such a short story, the characters have their own little story and growth by the end. There is even a little French sprinkled in.
Sidney is the most annoying person in this story, and usually, that spot is reserved for Mary. He's always so jealous of Harry and ends up ruining things for everyone with his petty little actions.
First, he gets the hamster all wet, and for why? I just kept thinking he was dumb in this whole scenario.
THEN, he leaves the door open and the hamster escapes.
All week the school was on the lookout for this little hamster.
But in the end, Song Lee gets her little friend back and all is well, even though Sidney is still dumb.
Won a set of these books in a raffle. My almost 7 yr old daughter is reading them but only because I am making her. She is hooked on 3 other series of books and only wants to read those so for her these books are dumb. Oh well. But at least she's reading them.
