A brilliant scientist caught between two worlds...
A winged Prince fallen from his throne...
An enemy determined to destroy them both…

He protected her, trained her to be a warrior. Surah, the daughter of a human and the former prince’s favorite concubine, endured the scorn of the gargoyle court growing up. She doesn’t care - the only warrior who matters is Malin, and she will cure his genetic disease if it kills her.

It very well may. Enemies at court try to stop her research- enemies who don’t want Malin to reclaim his throne, or to see her as his mate and Princess. They threaten her life, and her research, but she must prevail. If she fails, she will have no protector, and will be sold by her half-brother in marriage to the highest bidder.

If she fails, Prince Malin will lose his immortality and be trapped in human form… and die. Together they navigate the murky politics of court, finally lay claim to a mate bond they’ve been denying for years, and hatch a plan to have a secret baby - a true Heir for the gargoyle throne.

Emma is a Black/white Muslim American mom of five, ages 6-22, in her mid-forties just trying to live her best life…which usually includes coffee, wine, and an unfortunate habit of one-clicking any pretty special edition that winds up in her feed. (If you DM it, she will come.)

She likes K-pop (#army, #moa) cultivation dramas (Till the End of the Moon,) precioussss silence, and collects more makeup than she uses.

She bends knee to Michelle Sagara West, Anne Bishop, N.K. Jemisin, Grace Draven, J.D. Robb, and Nalini Singh—a nod to Sanderson, Goodkind, Eddings, McCaffrey, and McKinley.

If you are looking for romantic epic fantasy set in complex, diverse, sex positive worlds with morally gray societies, powerful anti-heroes with THAD energy, multi-racial heroines at least 35—if not 350—coming into power, and a central theme of family, both dysfunctional and supportive, then you will binge her stories..

Prince Malin is the eldest brother but his brother, Prince Geza was in power because Malin had a genetic defect that was slowly turning him human. A family member, Princess Surah who is half gargoyle and half human is trying to find a cure for Malin but her half brother, Geza is threatening to marry her off to a warrior she doesn't love. Women aren't treated well in gargoyle society so she has little say. So when Malin speaks up and declares his feelings for Surah, there are those that don't like it including Geza.

There are members of their culture that don't want Malin to be cured because then he could take control back and there are those that want Geza to stay in power. Gargoyles lived among humans and humans knew about them which I found really interesting. Surah isn't a female who is used to being told what to do. She constantly tells her brother, Geza what she's not going to do which I thought was funny. It's obvious that he cares about her in his own way. Geza and Malin are brother's as well but Malin isn't blood related to Surah so there's no reason they can't be together.

I really liked the politics of this story even though it was confusing at times. There's a lot of drama, backstabbing and a a few interesting twists that made the story really fun. I already like gargoyle stories and this was a fun read.

I soooo loved this book. I was very happy to see there was bonus material at the end. I hope Emma is going to continue the story since I want to know what happens to Surah, Malin, and their baby.

Surah is a hybrid. Half human and half gargoyle. She can't fly, bummer, but she is a princess. Malin is her sorta brother. He is not really a blood relative, but they grew up together. Their half brother, Geza, is the current leader. Malin is older, but he has a degenerative disease that means his gargoyle side is being destroyed. Surah is a doctor/researcher who is trying to find a cure for the hereditary disease. She is very close to having a solution.

This book is full of intrigue and back-stabbing. The throne is always up-for-grabs between Geza and Malin. If Malin were cured he could take it back, but does he really want it? Geza is a git that spends more time using women than ruling, and the council is not amused. Surah is in a strange position. She is Geza's heir, since he won't wed and have garlings. She has always loved Malin, but has concentrated on trying to find a cure for him instead of this love. She is always in danger of being married off against her will, and she knows she must do something before this happens.

I don't want to spoil the story for you. It is great, so enjoy.

GARGOYLES . . . not new but rare and exciting. . . and she loves him. . . .

Surah has one goal help Malin with is genetic disease and do it no matter the cost. Even if she dies in the process. This one had action, drama, intrigue, gargoyles, royal court, enemies, evil brother and so much more. There will be so much more to gain if they win.

I LOVED this introduction to the Warriors of Stone . . .

9/20 - I had to re-read this one to get read for the next release coming out soon . . . Stone Guard

I mostly liked this book. Surah (such a pretty name) was strong and smart, and Malin seemed like a decent sort of gargoyle. The plot was good, but I was left (even with the "part 3" story at the end) feeling like an annoying amount of things were unresolved at the end. I also didn't really feel like we got to know the characters incredibly well, at least beyond Surah. However, I overall did enjoy the book, even if it would have befitted from resolving more things, and deepening more characters. 3 stars.

Stone Lover: A Gargoyle Shifter Paranormal Romance
Warriors of Stone Book 1
by Emma Alisyn
⭐⭐⭐⭐
I am totally bowled over by this story, it's intriguing and a fabulous read. What a steamy, scorching HOT paranormal shifter romance that have hot, winged alpha males and a witty, strong heroine. This is a amazing story that will make you turn the pages faster and faster until you read the end. The characters are exhilarating, sensational, fantastic and you'll fall in love with love! You will find within this a exciting, sweet, charming, and oh so scorching hot story! There is a lot of sparks, sexual chemistry, tension and the sex is explicit but fits the characters. The main characters are fantastic as they try and figure things out.The story features Surah who is a scientist and the daughter of a royal concubine but she is only half gargoyle. Malin is the prince who should be on the throne. But Surah half brother Geza is the current leader. Because Malin has a disease that means his gargoyle side is disappearing and only his human side will remain. Surah is trying to find a cure for the hereditary disease. The story is full of mystery and it offers drama, suspense, intrigue, action, threats and back-stabbing. The throne is in need of a leader and its between Geza and Malin. What a rich meaningful, plenty of action, adventure with relationships that's a romantic and awesome read that I highly recommend. WOW you'll want to read this book and then you need to buckle up! Its a thrill ride and its more than worth it!

I think gargoyles are very sexy in all that they are tough to the bone.

Princess Surah Loveneau is human/gargoyle not entirely accepted by either world, but a brilliant scientist with just one mission in mind, find a cure for the genetic decease that took him off the throne and is slowly taking the life of the love of her heart, her brother by marriage. When she finally discovers that he has also loved her in silence, she doubles her efforts to find a cure while dodging marriage proposals from other high ranking gargoyles, after all she holds more power than even she knows as sister to the reigning King.

Malin Loveneau was struck with the malady that runs in his royal family. Not being able to shift into his gargoyle, he had to relinquish his throne to his younger half brother and lives as a human. His love for his stepsister has always been there and now he must let her know and is happy to live in the human world if it means being with the woman that owns his heart. But factions want to take the throne and he must battle to keep his love safe. When Malin begins to feel the effects of the recent medication Surah has created, all bets are off.

So much passion in love and war. I want to read more of the Warriors of Stone, they are so passionate. I would love to read the story of Surah's human father and her gargoyle mother Adgara.

It took me a while to get into this book but I finnally sat down and read it yesterday. When a gargoyle prince is having trouble shifting into his stone form his half-sister who is really not his half sister tries to develop a serum that will help him heal. She is also one but one that will not shift so she's always had a hard time at court. Her brother is the prince but he's a bad France so the old court is wanting her soon to be husband to take over for her brother. The book was kind of slow but you finally do get it . I love the books that have them in it so I made myself sit and read it

Love This Gargoyle Story

Malin a Gargoyle Prince (when he became ill) who turned over the rule to his younger half brother Geya who is not the ruler Malin was. Malin's foster sister and Geya's half sister Surah is a genetic researcher because she is half human and went into genetic research because of Malin's illness that could leave him as a human gargoyle unable to shift or fly for the rest of his long life. Surah will be the savior of them and their people as doctor, wife of Malin and sister to Geya. I love the way Surah stands up for herself and the way she handles her people, mate and brother. Looking forward to more books from this author.

good premise, horrible execution

I could not finish this book. It just took to like to get through what little I did read The sentence structure it is juvenile that I found myself rolling my eye every couple of sentences. Character are mention without description or mention of what role they play. I’m guessing that the setting is somewhat futuristic based on the mention of a hover car. There was one point where there was one point where the MCs where talking then apparently kissing but no discussion of their lips actually meeting. The only reason I gave it one star is because it has the potential of being a good story if the author reworked the book.

Read in KU

This was quite a cut and dry book. The characters wee okay but very stilted with each other an i didn't warm up to any of them really. it's definitely not romance filled, but more thought processed. There were a few unanswered questions at the end of it and although in the copy i read there was an additional epilogue ,t hat was still unfinished in the sense that nothing was cleared up really.

Ah well, it was a KU read so i don't feel too bad as i read it and returned .

Just a great big no. Love gargoyles but this was totally not my reading genre.
Even though I ploughed through to the end I wish I had not.
Too convoluted and all over the place to be enjoyable.
I didn’t like this world and what the heck was the handmaiden thing. Another woman will live with them and bear their child.
This book was offered for free as a promotion and as I often like this author I grabbed it.

He was a gargoyle from a family of infected males. The reason for him relinquishing the throne, was that he was considered weak, and not suitable for the throne of the clan of warriors Gargoyles.
She had been brought up as his half sister, although they shared no blood lines. She was smart, a Doctor, who was looking for a cure for genetic disease.
Together they fight for their freedom and the unity of their clan.

This was a good story and I would enjoy reading more if the author continues with a series. The book contains an epilogue which is nice, but probably should have been part of the original story. Malin and Surah have many obstacles to overcome to be together. There are medical, political and family issues to contend with. Their journey is worth the time to read.

Intriguing

I liked this story the characters were intriguing they dragged me into the story. The premise is about a son who is diseased and dying. A woman who is half human who doesn't belong. They really do belong to each other. This is a cute story of forbidden love that really shouldn't be. The woman overcame her flaws and save the day.

Loved this one! I read this quite quickly as I really didn't want to put it down. I stayed up way too late reading and had a very difficult time getting up in the morning to go to work. I hope there will be more with these characters soon... I want to know what happens next! I have some ideas on where the story could go... and I'd like to find out if I'm right.

Interesting

This was an interesting story. The concept was different, good different. The characters were intriguing and entertaining, though I would love to see the Prince grow up a bit. The storyline was great with the intrigue and politics as well as the romance and family. This is something I'd like to read more about.

From sister to wife

I really enjoyed this story line, of course you have to get past all of the royal/sibling angst to the real meat of the story. I can only hope that once the ruling prince finds his mate he will finally grow up. There are so many wonderful characters that I can’t wait to see find their HEA. I look forward to reading the next book.

Surah has been loving Malin for a long time and he her.
But things are a bit complicated, since they are both half family of the ruler of prince Geza. She is Geza's halfsister and he geza's older halfbrother, but they aren't related to each other.

Sometimes in the story I wanted to tell both men to grow up a little more, especially Geza.
Good read with action, trust, loyalty, evil and love.

Good read

It was interesting to read from a gargoyle perspective. I liked the glimpses into gargoyle culture. The way the book started it felt like I missed the beginning but was able to catch up quickly. It's a good read and the epilogue made it complete which I enjoyed.

Stone Lover

Reading about Malin and Surah was fun. I liked that they were both able to bend a bit with each other but that they stayed true to who their characters were. It was a different world to read about and I'm looking forward to seeing more books written in this world.

Gargoyles

I truly enjoyed this romance. The maneuvering was fascinating as was the backwards culture of these gargoyles. The macho mess got to be annoying but the true classic alpha males were a redeeming factor.

This was all over the place and nothing made sense because things just happened without any development. As soon as they got to that whole who's going to marry who thing I just couldn't deal with it anymore.
