Born in California, Caryl McAdoo got to Texas in time to celebrate her first birthday. As a Dallas seventh grader, she remembers a homework essay on ‘What will you be doing in 2000?’ Looking into the future, she saw herself as an inter-galactically famous author, streaking from planet to planet signing books.

She laughs, “But I didn’t start writing again until the late ’80s, then was so blessed to find the DFW Writers’ Workshop in ’93.”

Her first book debuted ’99, then for the next nine years, she averaged a title a year from four traditional presses: two non-fiction, four novels, and three mid-grade chapter books.

In March 2014, her first historical Christian romance VOW UNBROKEN debuted from Howard Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster.

In April that year, she re-released LADY LUCK'S A LOSER (formerly The Apple Orchard Bed and Breakfast) with a new chapter. In September 2014 HEARTS STOLEN, book two in the Texas Romance Family Saga historical romance series, debuted as her first new Indie, and in November A LITTLE LOWER THAN THE ANGELS, her first Biblical fiction series The Generations launched. So four titles in 2014.

Book three of the historical Family Saga HOPE REBORN debuted in January 2015 to start off a whole new year with eleven new titles planned. THE PREACHER'S FAITH comes in February, Caryl's first contemporary in Red River Romance series. THEN THE DELUGE COMES, volume two of The Generations, follows in March.

Since 2014, she's published over sixty new books, averaging over seven new titles a year through 2020. She completed the 'Texas Romance Family Saga' with a total of ten novels, plus several 'Texas Companion Books'!

Plus, she's eight books into a second series, the 'Cross Timbers Romance Family Saga' and debuts a third New Beginnings saga's book one WAGONS WEST in November 2022, her fifth book for the year.

Also known as Grami, she adores twenty-five grandsugars, and she and O’Pa—her high school sweetheart and husband of fifty+ years write together. She’s dedicated to advancing God’s Kingdom through her novels, praying her story gives God glory!

Caryl loves to share her testimony, pray, and praise and worship Him; He frequently gives her new songs.

She believes all good things are from Him and that her books will minister His love, mercy, and grace to her readers.

Irving, Texas remained her lifelong home until 2008 when she and Ron followed God’s leading to Red River County in the far northeast corner of the Lone Star State. There at The Peaceable, the twenty acres of blessings they call home, the McAdoos raise chickens and goats while waiting for God to open the next door!

Mighty To Save by Caryl McAdoo is the ninth book in the Texas Romance series but can be read as a stand-alone. It is a Christian historical romance and another beautiful offering from Caryl McAdoo which I loved.
The novel is set over two time periods covering the first world war and the mid nineteenth century. The latter the reader learns about via a novel one of the characters is writing. It is a very well thought out and planned literary device.
There are many Godly themes and the overriding message is - God is good. In the good times we can trust God. In the bad times we can trust God. Sometimes we do not understand why things happen but God is still good. Sometimes we feel that God is silent and that He has abandoned us but He hasn't. God is still good and we can trust Him even when we don't understand.
Being a Christian does not mean we will have a trouble free life. It does mean that God will never leave us and will walk alongside us in our troubles.
As Christians we have a duty to spread the Good News of Jesus everywhere we go. Caryl McAdoo shows that no-one needed this message more than the soldiers facing death in the trenches of World War I. The Good News is for everyone whether they are facing immediate death or not. We all need Jesus. Eternal life starts as soon as we say 'yes' to Him.
There is the difficult topic of slavery in the novel. Caryl McAdoo shows the need for us to always stand up against the wrongs in society. As Edmund Burke said "For evil to flourish, it just needs good men to do nothing."
There is also the topic of alcoholism. Once alcohol gets a hold it can drag you down. You need to want to get better and you need a reason to get better.
The God of the Bible spoke through dreams. God today speaks through dreams and this is explored in the story.
Caryl McAdoo always writes beautifully. There was a particularly beautiful passage towards the end of the book that really 'spoke' to my heart. I will let you discover the passage for yourself.
A marvellous epic story and I cannot wait for the continuing saga in book ten.
I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.

WITHOUT A VISION, THE LORD’S PEOPLE PERISH

I have loved this series and have read all nine books of the Buckmeyer family saga. The journey has taken us through so many eras, wars, and changes. The family has a deep abiding love for God, country, and family. As with each installment in this series, we experience the good, the bad, and the ugly of life. Everything has a time and season, a time to live and a time to die. Seeing souls come to accept Christ as their personal Savior, had me in tears. In these stories, the people are human, flawed, and make mistakes, but with God’s love and forgiveness, they find redemption. If you are looking for a Pollyanna story of perfect people, you won’t find it here, if you want imperfect people that face sin and hardships but find God’s forgiveness, then this book series is perfect.

The storyline is more than one story taking place. There will be a story in a story, from pre-civil war slavery to World War I and after that. As the war is raging in Europe, Evelyn and her four-year-old son, Buddy, are in Texas, ministering to those in need at the hospitals, or wherever they are needed. Nathaniel is a Chaplain during the war. Evelyn will have a special lady she has been visiting and praying with that will be healed, and she shares her life story with Evelyn and allows her to write about it in a book. It starts before the Civil War, and Pearl is a slave who is in love with the master’s grandson.

Evelyn will write the story of Pearl, a slave, Jules Harris, the master’s grandson, Pretty, another slave, and how far a man is willing to go to make things right. It is full of angst, anger, betrayal, bitterness, secrets, deceit, and passion. This part of the story will become a story in the story.

With Nathaniel, Evelyn, and Buddy, they will become traveling evangelist after WWI ends and he returns home to Texas. God will use them to see many souls saved, people returning to the Lord, and miracles of healing. “There’s no sin so great that God’s love can’t cover it.” The love story of Nathaniel and Evelyn will span from the time he is fifteen, and she is six. They will face sadness, loss, heartache, but to each other, always remain true and faithful. “The sweet over the bitter.”

“Worry is nothing but a slap to God’s face because all it says is that you don’t trust Him. As if you don’t think He’s big enough or able to do a thing. Not me. I refuse to.”

Mighty to Save is the ninth installment from Caryl McAdoo's Texas Romance series. Evelyn marries Nathaniel against her parent's wishes. They did not like he was a nonbeliever of Christ. But eventually he does become a believer and even become a preacher. A beautiful story of faith and forgiveness.

I found Mighty to Save to be a pretty good read. It is a kind of read that plays on a reader's emotions. There are scenes of heartache and tears and, also, tender, romantic moments. Such a great beautiful story to show the joy of faith and redemption. I would recommend this book to those who love Christian Historical Fiction. I hope there will be a tenth book of the series in the future.

Five stars.

I received this book from the author, but was not required to write a review. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

Evelyn and Nathaniel Nightingale's journey is one we are all invited to embark upon. The faith journey is one of mountaintop experiences and dark nights in the valley. This story is engaging and filled with hope.

I enjoyed reading the old stories of past revivals. They are so encouraging! Yeshua shines brightly through the pages of "Mighty to Save".

Recommend to readers who enjoy inspirational, historical fiction.

I have enjoyed most of this series and this was no exception. However, this was a very busy book... it jumped around from family to family and one scene to another. Truly God is mighty to save, I'm glad that part was evident in this book.

I was given a free code for this audio book and I am voluntarily leaving this review.

Book 9 in the continuing family story of the Buckmeyers. War and tales of slavery show love cannot be cannot be destroyed by such tragedies. God's love prevails over all evil and nothing can stop its spread. Sinners are saved by His love and lovers reunited because of this love and by an unwavering faith. Another great read by Caryl McAdoo!!

My Review:
This first paragraph isn't part of the review that I am going to be posting on Amazon or Goodreads, but I am saying it on this blog, make sure you sign up to be entered in the giveaway. I am saying that because I have read the entire series, except the tenth one and the only reason I haven't read it is because it isn't out yet. Even though I have read all nine books, I want the entire series in print signed by Caryl McAdoo and that is the grand prize in the giveaway.

"Mighty To Save" by Caryl MCAdoo is the ninth book in the "Texas Romance Family Saga" and sometimes when a series continues with more than three or four books, the stories begin to get boring, but I say with all honesty these books are not boring and doesn't seem to be getting old.

The other books, I think can be enjoyed as standalones, but I personally recommend reading them all in the order they were written. I don't think I would have enjoyed "Mighty To Save" as much if I hadn't read the other first. I know other reviewers have stated they liked it as a standalone , so I guess it is a matter of preferences.

"Mighty to Save" is written in a different style than the other eight books in the saga. This story is told by Evelyn Eversole Nightingale who is an author like her grandma May from the previous books. "Mighty To Save" is really two stories, one is Peril's story and how she was rescued by her true love and the other is about Evelyn and Nathaniel Nightingale's marriage.

This book is not your happily ever after fairy tale. This books shows that God doesn't give his children all they hope and desire. It also shows that if we call on Him, He is Mighty To save. But it also shows that we are all weak in our own strength if we don't rely on Him.

Oh. I liked reading a Facebook friend's name in the story. That is really neat when an author does that!

This book leaves me waiting to read the next book now because I feel it ended in somewhat of a cliff hanger.

I am giving "Mighty to Save "by Carly McAdoo five stars.

I was given a complimentary copy by the author and Celebrate Lit. These opinions are my own.

“Mighty to Save” is one of those story within a story kind of books. Evelyn Nightingale is an author who as best as I can tell is working on two separate books during the course of this narrative. One is the story of Julius and Pearl and the other is a retelling of her own history with her evangelist husband Nathaniel. Readers get a pretty good dose of both those stories as the book progresses.

More than anything, the purpose of “Mighty to Save” seems to be a testimony to the power of God in the lives of the characters. Their tale is documented through both good times and bad times, triumphs and tragedies. Even when life seems to be at the lowest, the author encourages through Evelyn and Nathaniel to praise God anyway. McAdoo does not shrink from portraying real-life situations and tends to use them to illustrate the grace and redemption available to all who seek it.

I have loved many of this author’s previous novels but I am having a bit of difficulty knowing how to rate this one. I would happily give it five stars for its spiritual content. I have absolutely no complaints in that. The writing style is fairly simplistic but I nevertheless often got off track and was uncertain whether I was reading about Evelyn and Nathaniel’s present life or whether I was caught up in one of their reflections on the past or if I was reading from one of the novels Evelyn was working on. Sometimes I felt overwhelmed by all that was going on. Perhaps I was just having a bad day.

Overall, “Mighty to Save” was a pretty good book so please don’t let my own experience deter you from reading it. Many others have thoroughly enjoyed it and I’m sure many more will. Like I said, I usually enjoy this author’s books.

I voluntarily reviewed a digital copy of this book that was provided by Celebrate Lit. A favorable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.

This was such a heartwarming story. I loved reading about the life of Evelyn and Nathaniel. Evelyn really does remind me of what a minister's wife should be: caring, warm, and always leaning on the Lord. Be warned - there are a few moments in this book that really tugged at my heart and made me a little weepy. There is one scene in particular near the end (can't give away the details) that was just so beautifully written, and inspired me to have the same reaction as Evelyn if I were faced with a similar situation.

Although it was wonderful reading about Evelyn and Nathaniel, my favorite part of the book was when Pearl spoke of her past and her journey with Jules. It was so moving to me how she tried to break free from slavery, and the Romeo and Juliet like love affair she had with Jules. I will warn you that during these scenes there is some language that I do not like (the n word for instance, which really bothers me). However, in writing this way the author was simply depicting the time period and how they spoke, so I certainly understand why it was included. I just chose to skip over those words. But back to the important part. Jules and Pearl reminded me that there are people out there that truly love someone for who they are. I felt like I was sitting right there with Evelyn listening to Pearl reminisce about her life. I just needed my own cup of coffee!

This story will make you smile, give you hope, and yes make you cry. But it offers a powerful message and has a clear picture of God's love through the writing and the characters. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

WOW!!! Hold on to your hats, Caryl McAdoo is set to take you for another wild ride with this latest installment (#9) of the Texas Romance Family Saga! My oh my and for sure and for certain you will LOVE this story of great depth and breadth!

If you have not had a chance to read the other eight books in the series, you might start out a little confused BUT that is quickly eased by the engaging and endearing characters and well-written parallel storylines. You’ll be drawn in and held fast by the fascinating family histories and spectacular storytelling! The spot-on historical accuracy, language and location helps to make this another winning story! Mighty to Save is one of the best books I've read filled with characters that have become friends in my mind. My emotions were right there along with all my senses from seeing the country, the beatings, the tent revival scenes, the romantic moments along with all the heartache the characters suffered. So many tears, moments of praising and singing in the Spirit, along with thank you Jesus for hearing the cry of your children throughout this magnificent, powerful, heartfelt, sensational story. Caryl McAdoo is one gifted author with her lovable characters, multiple plots within this story, the power of God shining through along with laughter, tears, faith, heartbreak, determination, and never failing trust and love for our Heavenly Father. Oh. how I cannot wait for the last book in Caryl McAdoo's Texas Romance series, Chief of Sinners.

I received an ARC e-copy of Mighty to Save from the author. I was not required to write a positive review but have expressed my honest thoughts about this enchanting beautiful Christian filled story.

I recently met Caryl through a FB book release party - She is a wonderful friend and mentor as I go on my own writing journey. When I saw that she had her new release being offered through Celebrate Lit - I KNEW that I had to be on the tour.
I had read a few of this series when I saw them become available for free on amazon. The wonderful thing about this series - is they can be stand-alones.
Caryl is a master crafter of historic writing. She has such great skill. This book was no different.

I LOVED IT.
Some of my favorite parts: Everyone needs Jesus. Especially soldiers facing death during WWI. We as Christians are supposed to be spreading the good news so that others can believe. This story is such a heartwarming one. The characters are so well written - the events and images seem like they are unfolding right before your eyes.

I received a copy of this book courtesy of the Celebrate Lit book tour - all opinions are my own.

I found this book a little hard to follow with so much going on. Evelyn Nightingale is a writer following in her grandmother's footsteps. The issue I had was trying to keep the stories straight when this author bounced from one story to the next. I'm not saying it's Ms. McAdoo's fault, I have the same trouble with movies and TV shows that do the same thing. So let's just say the fault is mine and leave it at that.

One of the stories Evelyn was working on was about a former slave and her love for her Master's grandson and his for her. I liked that story the best in this book. With an HEA and all. However, I was not happy with the near-the-end of the book. I won't say why as I don't want to spoil it for others. Read this book and you will find out.

Even though I gave this book only 3 stars, I still enjoy this author's books and will continue to read them. Check out this story about Evelyn and Nathaniel Nightingale and Enjoy!

Caryl has done it again. Some how her words always jump off the he pages and into the reader’s mind. Floating and creating the imagery that depicts the tale of Evelyn and Nathaniel.

Their story is full of historical tidbits and strong emotions. It is quick to bring faith and Christ into play. This is Caryl’s trademark and I adore her for it. Her characters always read as though God gave her the words to produce for them.

Evelyn is a beautiful character. Marrying Nathaniel was her choice. Her faithfulness is returned in this union bring her into the life of a preacher’s wife, a role she suits.

Nathaniel is a character of flaws that he works to redeem. Evelyn was his partner and through God he grows as her husband.

I loved tenderness of this story. It felt as though it has been in the author’s heart grieving and creating itself into the beautiful story.

The writing style of this book is different than most others I've read. There is a side story, from year before, that is intermingled throughout much of the book. Many times it is difficult to follow which story is being told, other than a brief mention of a character's name. It is possible this is an editing issue, or maybe due to my copy being and electronic version; possibly there is a different font or size of font to differentiate in the printed book.
This book is #9 of a series. While this is a stand alone novel, it may have been a better book for me if I had read the previous 8 books and grown to know the characters.
In all, not a bad book, but not one of my favorites. Interesting & strong characters.

This book is the 9th book in the Texas Romance Family Saga series, and it is an outstanding addition to the series. This story is another example of why this author is one of my favorites when it comes to Texas historical fiction. I was pulled into Evelyn and Nathaniel's story from the first pages, and it is another book from this author with wonderful characters, a story line that kept me reading, and a beautiful story of how God works in the lives of His children. I was given a copy of this book, but a favorable review was not required. All opinions are my own, and I certainly recommend this book as well as the complete series.

How can you not love Caryl McAdoo’s books? They are engaging, funny,
serious, and such a joy to read. This book “Mighty to Save” is part of a
series and if you haven’t read any of them, what are you waiting for?
In this book, Evelyn does what she knows in her heart she should not
do. She marries an unbeliever! Journey with Evelyn and Nathaniel as
they strive to make their marriage work. Will Nathaniel become a believer?
Who is the stranger that keeps popping up at unexpected times?
Read The BOOK!

This had a great story line to it. My only problem I had was in the first three or four chapters I was confused sometimes what story I was starting to read. This book has three stories interwoven together. The main story is about Evelyn and Nathaniel and their son Buddy. The other two stories are books that Evelyn is writing. I really enjoyed each story and all the characters. They each learn to trust in God and themselves. I received an ebook copy of this from Celebratelit for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

The saga continues

This is the story of Evie and Nathaniel. Evie continued to write about her family's history while Nathaniel ministered to the souls of the young soldiers during the war. When he returned from Europe, he continued to preach the gospel with Evie at his side. When he loses Evie due to a complicated pregnancy, he loses his way. It' s up to their son, Buddy to try and help him find his way back from the overpowering grief. Whenever Caryl McAdoo releases another part of this family saga, I know I won't be getting much done.

Interesting Storyline

Mighty to Save covered many topics within the same story. Evelyn was an author, we were able to read the story within the story, which offered us insight into the time period. We followed Evelyn and her family for a number of years. Her husband was a traveling preacher, saving many souls as he preached. His faith was tested in a way he wasn't expecting and he had struggles with this test. The human factor comes into play. It's how we come out in the end that matters. This was an emotional story, by very satisfying in the end.

In this Texas family saga Book 9, Evelyn marries a nonbeliever against her parents wishes. Will it all works out? Not only does the man she loves accept Christ, but Nathaniel gets baptized by fire and becomes a minister of the gospel. Woven into this tale of love and redemption are two additional stories. Evelyn writes novels of faith, family, and forgiveness. I love Caryl McAdoo's books and this one is no exception.

Again, Ms. McAdoo wrote a wonderful story. She is a great story teller. Besides reading about Evelyn and Nathaniel, which I loved, there were two other stories-within-the-story. I really liked the story of Jules and Pearl. All the stories had a lot of love and redemption. I would recommend this book. It was a great addition to a great series.

Even though I have the other books in this series, I read this story out of order, because I really wanted to read it after reading reviews about it. I LOVED this sweet story of love, trust, and forgivenss! My favorite line is: “Worry is nothing but a slap to God’s face because all it says is that you don’t trust Him.” And I loved the testimony of God continually proving Himself as the unfailing source of this family. This is a sweet, easy, and fun read!!

A heart wrenching tale of evangelicalism yet poorly written

I felt this book skipped around and around. Often it was trying to tell multiple stories within the context of a writer creating novels. I frequently found myself flipping back and forth trying to figure out what was what. In addition, there are numerous run-on sentences and sentences that that are incomplete and don't make any sense. Sadly, this is the worst book I've read by this author.
